Method #04: From a desktop browser
If you log into Facebook on your PC browser, you will find that as soon as you receive a message, you will receive a pop-up chat with that message.
You can read the full messages here. Just don't click on chat or go to Facebook Messenger if you don't want the received receipt to be generated for the sender.
Method #05: On a mobile browser (switch to desktop site)
Just as you can access the Facebook website on a desktop browser, you can also access it from your smartphone browser.
Launch your browser and open Facebook.com. Then, once you're signed in, you'll need to switch to the desktop site to access the pop-up chats.
To do this, click on the vertical ellipsis in the upper right corner.
Then click on Desktop .
Once you've done that, click in your browser's address bar and delete the "m". with "m.facebook.com" to make sure you are not using the mobile version of the site.
You will now use the Facebook desktop site on your mobile browser and receive pop-up chats just like you would on your PC browser.
Using Facebook's desktop site in a mobile browser can feel a little awkward. But if you want your messages to be easily read in a pop-up chat on your mobile phone (without telling the other person), this does the job perfectly.
Method #06: On a desktop browser using third-party browser extensions
If you use Facebook Messenger on a PC, you can get a few extensions to bypass the read receipt feature. But the one that gets the job done without much hassle is the "Invisible". Here's how you can get it in Chrome:
Go to the Chrome Web Store, search for "Invisible for Facebook Messenger" and select it.
