What time are telegrams delivered?Telegrams to private homes and most businesses within Canada are usually delivered between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Telegrams to hotels can also be delivered at night or on weekends.
What if no one is home to receive the telegram?If no one is home when the courier arrives, the telegram will be left at the
door. Sometimes the telegram cannot be left at the door, for example, in a lock-out
apartment building. In that case, a door hanger will be left on the door.
The door hanger tells the householder
where to pick up the telegram locally, or how to arrange re-delivery.
Telegrams
are kept at the local delivery office for one week. If after one week no one
picks up the telegram, it will be destroyed. Unclaimed telegrams are not
refundable. For lock-out apartments, if no one is home and the householder
cannot be reached by phone, the telegram will be mailed. Mail delivery may
take several days.
Yes! In most cases, we can electronically deliver the message to the front desk the same day. The telegram will then be printed and hand delivered by the establishment's staff. If the guest has not yet checked in, the telegram will be kept at the front desk and handed to the guest upon check-in.

Is there any way my telegram can be delivered on the weekend?Telegrams
to inns can be delivered Saturday or Sunday.
There is no additional charge
for weekend delivery.
Delivery to homes and other businesses is Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
We are committed to getting your telegram there on time. Even so, delays can occur due to bad weather, road conditions, communications bottlenecks and other factors. For this reason, we can't guarantee delivery times. If you have questions about delivery to a specific location, please contact us before sending your telegram and we'll give you the most current delivery information.
Can I require a signature?You can require a signature for telegrams to business addresses in Canada and the United States. There is an extra charge for this service (see details on the order page).
The recipient told me they never got the telegram. What happened?If the telegram was not delivered, please consider the following information
before you email us.
If the fault was our own, we will be happy to offer a credit or refund.
Most of the time, however, non-delivery is due to one of the following reasons:
Was the address correct? Telegrams are hand-delivered, so you should carefully check the address for accuracy. A misspelled street name, missing phone number, incorrect postal code, or incomplete address can cause the telegram to be delayed or returned.
Is the telegram still in transit? Telegrams to some places may take more than one business day for delivery. To areas with no service at weekends, if you placed your telegram on Friday it might not be delivered until Tuesday.
Did the recipient respond to the door hanger? If a notice was left at the door, did the recipient arrange for re-delivery or pick up the telegram locally? If not, the unclaimed telegram will be destroyed by the local delivery office after one week.
How can I get confirmation of delivery?For First-Class telegrams delivered within Canada and the US, we can provide confirmation
of delivery for a fee of $19.

confirmation of delivery. If we are able to confirm overseas delivery, there is

Telegrams Canada retains copies of all telegrams for at least six months.
Regular Copies: A duplicate copy of a telegram can be mailed to the sender
or recipient for an $12.00 charge (includes cost of mailing).
Certified Copies: If you require a certified copy of a
telegram, the fee is $19.00 (includes cost of mailing).
Over Six Months: If your telegram was sent more than six months ago,
we may be able to provide a copy. There is a research fee of $20.00 plus the
price of the copy as above.

Is Telegrams Canada still part of the railway telegraph system?There's over 150 years of history behind telegram service in Canada!
In the past, the public telegram service and telex exchange were operated by
Canadian National Telegraphs and Canadian Pacific Telegraphs (CNCP Telecommunications, later called Unitel).
Since 2002, Telegrams Canada is the only CRTC license holder for telegram service in Canada.
Our main telecommunications centre, at 151 Front Street West in Toronto,
was built in 1954 by Canadian National Telegraphs.
We're proud to still operate in that same
facility where telegrams have been switched for over half a century! Our technology has modernized a lot over the years, from Morse code to teletype, and punched paper tape to
racks of high-speed fibre optic network servers.
Most of the telecommunications rights-of-way along Canada's railroads have been transferred to
Allstream, who also handle enquiries regarding railway telco pension matters.
Telegram service is no longer part of the railway system, but we're proud of those railway telegraphers who built the service that is still a much-used part of our heritage.

SHIPS AT SEA
Cruise ships are especially popular ship destinations. Telegrams are transmitted over satellite link within six hours. They are then delivered to the recipient by the crew. Please include the cabin number, if available. If the recipient is part of a group, please add “c/o [name of the principal booker]”.
GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES
With the White House being the top address, many telegrams are delivered to state and federal representatives. For the latter, you can use either a Washington or local address. A telegram stands out, so there is a better chance the recipient will pay attention to your message than if you send an email or letter.

What is the cost of sending a telegram?
The cost depends on the length and destination, and starts at around $30 for a short telegram. You can click on “Price and Send Now” and test the pricing interactively—change the text as many times as you like before proceeding to payment.
How fast are telegrams delivered?
The delivery speed depends on the destination.
Please consult “Resources.. Delivery information by country” for details. Some examples: USA business address: same day; USA residential address: same or next day; Japan: same day, remote islands next day; Italy: same or next day. The cut-off time for same-day delivery is noon at the destination.
I did not complete the telegram order—I stopped before paying. How do I cancel my telegram?
Unfinished (not paid-for) telegram submissions are canceled by the system automatically after five days. If you still wish to proceed, please follow the payment link in the e-mail receipt. The original submission date will stand.
The receiving company claims they did not receive the telegram—what can I do?
Please contact us and a delivery specialist will take care of the problem. It is not unusual for companies to refuse acknowledgment of receipt, especially of cancellation telegrams. However, for 20 years, we have had a 100% cancellation success rate.
I would like the telegram to be delivered on a specific date (for a ceremony, funeral, celebration, etc.
). Can I do that?Yes. Please add “DELIVER ON [date]” beneath the address.
Will I receive confirmation of the delivery?
Email confirmations are not sent, but you can check delivery information through the tracking system.
Is it possible to send a telegram to a ship at sea, such as a cruise ship?
Yes. Delivery is performed over satellite link within six hours. Please include the cabin number, if available.
I did not receive an email receipt. What should I do?
Please check the separate payment receipt for the tracking number. Enter the tracking number on our website to see the delivery status.
I would like to make a change in the telegram I sent. How can I do that?

I need to send a cancellation form (a document)—would you be able to deliver it?
There is no need to use the pre-printed cancellation form. Just send a telegram, stating that you would like to cancel your contract.
Include the organization’s reference information, such as your contract number.
How do I send a telegram to an APO/FPO military address?
Instead of using a street address, enter the APO/FPO address. Always use the country “USA” even if you know the geographical location of the APO/FPO. Please check the DoD Directive 4525.6 on this website for addressing standards and further details. Please note that internal distribution may be subject to current security regulations.

Are you affiliated with Western Union?

Canada Post is operated by the Canada Post Corporation. Mail is delivered daily from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
To send a letter anywhere in the world, you need a postage stamp. Postage depends on the weight, size of the postage and destination. You can buy postage stamps at any post office. They are also sold in pharmacies, newsstands and other public places.
If you are mailing within Canada, be sure to include the six-digit postal code and return address. This will speed up delivery. You can send a letter or a small package to your nearest post office, or drop it into any red mailbox (such boxes are installed on the streets and in shopping centers).
Large parcels are sent at the post office. Parcels within North America can be sent by regular mail (Regular Mail), delivery takes from three to ten days. Express mail (Xpresspost) is delivered within one to two days. Priority Courier delivers items by noon the next day. The most economical way to send international parcels is Parcel Post.

What groups and channels exist in Telegram
In Telegram, you can create a group and a channel. Groups and channels can be private or public. Additionally, for private groups, you can enable chat history so that new users can read the entire message history.
Please note that depending on the type of group or channel, blocking and unblocking works in different ways.

To change the group type in Telegram, go to your group settings. On the mobile app, click on the group icon in the top right corner and select Edit.
In the desktop version of the application, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select "Group Management".
Click Group Type. For the "Private" type, you'll see an invite link that you can send to users. For the "Public" type, enter a link that users can follow or find the group in search.
To enable chat history for a private group, in your group's settings, click Chat History and select Visible.
To change the channel type in Telegram, in your channel settings, click "Change" and select "Channel Type". For the "Private" type, you'll see an invite link that you can send to users. For the "Public" type, enter a link that users can follow or find the channel in search.
How to block a member of a Telegram group or channel
Drag the "Action" element from the left pane to the work area. Connect it to the element after which you want to block the participant. In our example, this is "Filter".
Specify the "Block in group or channel" action and select the group or channel from the list.
How group and channel blocking works in Telegram
Private group
Blocked members of a private group will not be removed from the group, but will not see new messages from other members, will no longer be able to send messages to the group, or find the group in search. They will be able to join such a group through an invitation link.
Private group with chat history enabled
Blocked members of a private group with chat history enabled will be removed from the group and will not be able to access the invite link or find the group in search.
Public group
Blocked members of a public group will be removed from the group and will not be able to access the public link or invitation link. They will be able to find the group in the search, but will not be able to subscribe to it.
Private channel
Blocked members of a private channel will be removed from the channel and will not be able to access the invitation link or find the channel in search.
Public channel
Blocked members of a public channel will be removed from the channel and will not be able to access the public link or invitation link. They will be able to find the channel in the search, but will not be able to subscribe to it.
How to unblock a member of a Telegram group or channel
To unblock a member, specify the "Unblock in group or channel" action and select the group or channel from the list.
We recommend adding a "Message" block with a public link or an invitation link to enter a group or channel after the "Unblock in group or channel" action so that the user can enter it after unblocking.
How unblocking works for group and channel in Telegram
Private group
Unblocked members of a private group will be able to join the group via the invitation link and find the group in search after subscribing.
They will not be able to view the message history for the period they were blocked.
Private group with chat history enabled
Unblocked members of a private group with chat history enabled will be able to join the channel via the invite link, search for the group after following, and view the message history for the period they were blocked.
Public group
