Your guide to reposting Instagram storiesHow to directly repost a post to your Instagram storiesAs of yet, there’s no way you can repost someone’s story on your own if you’ve not tagged (although, we’ll introduce you to a handy workaround shortly!) But, the good news is, you can easily reshare someone’s feed posts on your own story. When you come across a stellar post that you want to share with your community, you simply click on the little airplane next to the comment bubble. A list will appear with other people you could send it to, or, just click “Add post to your story.” Voila, you’ll find yourself in Instagram editing mode!
You have two options here. You can repost it as a minimalist-looking story, or you can tap on the image to get a preview of the post with the start of the caption. Whichever option you choose, it will automatically tag the person whose content you’re resharing. But, it can be a nice little extra to also include a larger, more visible tag with a ‘mention’ sticker. Not only is it just a good thing to do, but the original account is more likely to repost your repost (so meta!)
You can also use this strategy for reposting your own feed posts to your story. It’s the same process — just head to your feed post, and tap the little aeroplane icon to repost it to your stories. This is a super easy way to maximise the increase the reach and potential audience of your feed post, as many people spend more time on stories than they do on their feeds!
How to repost an Instagram story when you’ve been tagged
Tag, you’re it!
A brand or customer has mentioned you in a story, so naturally, you wanna brag about it! When you’re mentioned or tagged in a story, it’ll magically appear in your DM from that person. Simply click ‘Add post to my story’ and it will take you to stories editing mode where you can reshare it. It’s as easy as that!
One quick caveat, though — you can only repost the story while their story is still visible (within a 24-hour time frame). So, you’ll need to make it snappy!
How repost a story when you’re not taggedSo, what about when you see a story you like, but you’re not tagged? Or, maybe you’ve spied one that you’d love to repost but not yet — you’d like to slot it into your content calendar at a future date.
While we know that stories disappear after 24 hours, the good news is you can take a screenshot. While the process for doing this will depend on what smartphone you’re on, you can normally do it by holding in a button on your phone. This will then automatically save to your screenshot, where you can upload it into Plann and schedule it for when it suits you to post.
If it’s a short video you want to keep, hit the record button on your phone (again, this will depend on your device) to take a screen recording and post it when it makes sense. However, if you’re going to use one these strategies, it’s a good idea to DM the person who’s content you’re sharing to ask for their permission. You’ll also want to make sure you tag them in the post!
How to repost a story on your feedSo, what about when you’ve posted an Instagram story so rad that you just have to immortalize it on your feed. You can do that too! Just head to your stories archive, select a story and click on the three dots on the right-hand side. Then, select ‘share as post.’ This will open it up in the photo editing tool where you’ll have the option to crop it to the right dimensions for your feed. Then, you can post it to your grid with all the bells and whistles you added to your story, like the text and emojis.
How to maximise engagement on your story reposts
It’s one thing to repost an epic story. But, in order to get more eyeballs on it and generate engagement, you really need to make it your own. Here are some ways you can maximise engagement on your story reposts:

Stories feature has been working for a long time, but some users can't add Stories to Instagram. A couple of years ago, Instagram had a little difficulty: the rating began to fall, and subscribers began to spend more time on another American network, Snapchat.
Then the developers came up with a new feature, and this innovation of stories in Instagram helped to return to the leading positions.
How to make a story on Instagram
The new tool won users over with two advantages:
- The life of Stories is limited. If you do not replenish the content every 24 hours, then it will be deleted. This feature is suitable for those who do not want to save information, but want to just look at it.
- Stories has a dominant position in relation to regular publications. The feed is located at the very top of the screen, so it is viewed by a large part of the audience.
There are several ways to make stories on Instagram, which method is preferable, topics and add content.
When using the first method, the photo or video is downloaded directly from the application. To do this, go to the application, slide the screen to the right or tap the camera icon in the upper left corner.
The screen for adding a new story will appear there. Next, a picture is taken: by clicking on the white circle or by loading content from your own gallery. It is worth noting that in this method it is possible to use a flash, selfie mode or pick up a virtual mask.
When adding a video, remember that the duration of one story is only 15 seconds. If your video file is longer, the application will automatically split it into several parts, each of which is edited separately.
Add stories to Instagram from gallery
The second option to add stories from existing photos and videos. To use this method, go to the gallery, select the content of interest.
Once published, choose what to do with it: add to profile, save to gallery, download story or send to friends.
With this method, you can use additional functions, add stickers, images, widgets, texts and GIFs.
If you want to add a GIF or a sticker, click on the icon with the smiley. You can also specify a friend's name or geodata, conduct a survey.
However, the addition functions do not end there. The developers came up with the opportunity not only to place and publish the story, but also to supplement it with sound.
To add music to your Instagram story, click on the screen where the function for adding stickers is. There is a music pictogram here, with hundreds of music tracks.
Having found a song of interest, you can pre-listen to it and select the passage of interest. It is important that the music can be picked up even before shooting the video, and the shooting can be done already with sound accompaniment.
This feature is not yet available in Russia.
By publishing such material, users will see not just another Stories, but it will also be sounded with music and a sticker with the name of the track and the artist.
How to post stories for close friends on Instagram
You've probably seen green Instagram Stories, which are characterized by a round border in a different color. This "close friends" feature allows you to post content only to some users and create a list of friends to share hidden stories with.
Instagram Green Stories allow you to share the content you want by filtering out users who don't want to see some content.
Green Instagram stories are used to share personal photos and videos with small groups of followers.
Those who are included in the list of "close friends" can easily recognize them thanks to their distinctive features - a green circle and a special label.
But viewing a green story on Instagram does not give you access to the list of users who, like you, are included in the list of close friends.
To create and add subscribers to the list of close friends you need.
- Open the IG Stories editor and create your own content.
- When it's ready, you will see the corresponding button below, marked with a white star on a green background.
- To add Instagram stories for close friends, create a special list with your followers. Clicking on it will see a popup that says "Add to List" to include subscribers who can view the content.
- Once opened, the list will include a search for the desired contacts or a list of "suggestions" with various subscribers to be added manually.
How to add several stories to Instagram
It happens that one post for a story about fun is not enough. Then you can add another story to Instagram.
How to add multiple Stories on Instagram is easy to figure out. To do this, you just need to go to the previous story and click on the camera icon in the upper left corner. Further, everything is much simpler, the procedure for adding another story is the same as for the first publication.
It is worth noting that this feature is very useful, because you can not only publish an excerpt from your life, but even post a mini-series. You can also add the series to IGTV Instagram.
Instagram has quickly burst into people's lives. Thanks to him, you can learn a lot from the everyday life of friends, and share your joyful moments.
