How to See Facebook Memories on Desktop or Mobile

  • You can easily see Facebook Memories using the site's Memories function, which allows you to see what you did on this day years ago, for as many years as you've had your account.
  • If you don't get a notification about your memories every day, you can still see your Facebook Memories by going through your account menu.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

One of the great things about Facebook is that it can almost serve as a modern digital diary. You can look back on your life and how you changed over the years — what you did, how you changed, what you and your friends laughed about, and more.

In fact, one of Facebook's best features is the Memories feature, which allows you to see what you did on this day any number of years ago, as far back as you've had your account. Your memories refresh every day, and Facebook usually sends you a notification when they are.

If you don't get the notification, though, your memories are still very easy to access — here's how to do it.

For the latest information on how to use Memories, visit our Help Center.

Today, we’re launching Memories, a single place on Facebook to reflect on the moments you’ve shared with family and friends, including posts and photos, friends you’ve made, and major life events.

Every day more than 90 million people use On This Day to reminisce about these moments they’ve shared on Facebook, and research suggests this kind of reflection can have a positive impact on people’s mood and overall well-being. This is why we’re updating the experience to ensure all of your memories are easy to find.

Your Memories page can include several sections:

  • On This Day: The content that you know and love will still be available within this section, showing your past posts and major life events from this date.
  • Friends Made On This Day: This section will include a list of friends you made on this date in the past, including special videos or collages that celebrate your friendversaries.
  • Recaps of Memories: This section will feature seasonal or monthly recaps of memories that have been bundled into a message or short video.
  • Memories You May Have Missed: If you haven’t checked your memories lately, this section will show you the posts that you might have missed from the past week.

We know that memories are deeply personal — and they’re not all positive. We try to listen to feedback and design these features so that they’re thoughtful and offer people the right controls that are easy to access. We work hard to ensure that we treat the content as part of each individual’s personal experience, and are thankful for the input people have shared with us over the past three years.

You can still access your memories through the Memories bookmark either to the left of your News Feed on your computer or in the “more” tab on the bottom right of your mobile app. You can also access Memories through notifications, through messages that you may see in your News Feed, and by visiting facebook.com/memories.

How to find your Memories if you can't find them?

Do not know where your precious memories are? You can try these solutions.

1. Check your exclusion list

As a result, Facebook allows users to hide certain dates or friends, recognizing that not all dates or events are noteworthy.

Because some dates have been omitted or friends have been deleted, you won't see any entries for that particular day/person.

Launch the Facebook app on your mobile device, tap the hamburger menu in the top right corner of the screen, and then select Memories to make sure no one is left out.

Tap the gear icon in the top right corner.

Your hidden people and dates will be displayed under the Hide Memories banner.

You can try again after clearing the list.

2. Reboot your phone

If you can't see Memories due to a minor issue, you should simply restart your device.

Check if the problem is fixed after restarting the Facebook app.

3. Wait for Facebook to fix this

Facebook rarely rests on its laurels when faced with widespread messages about such a sensitive topic. Waiting for Facebook to fix the problem is usually the best option if you run out of options.

4. Clear the cache

The file cache can be cleared easily on Android device. Tap and hold on an app in the library to open the menu to reset it. In the upper right corner, click the "Information" button.

Now click "Storage".

Check if the issue is resolved by selecting Clear Cache. You can clear app data by returning to this screen and selecting Clear Data.

Use this tip only if you have a Samsung phone. It may differ slightly on other devices.

5. Uninstall and reinstall

None of the solutions seem to work? From the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you can uninstall and reinstall the Facebook app.
