How to get music on instagram story business account

How to Add Music to Instagram Stories

  • To add music to your Instagram Story, tap the sticker icon and select the music option.
  • You can also add music to your Instagram Story from apps like Spotify, SoundCloud, or Shazam.
  • If you can't add music to an Instagram Story, you may need to update the app first.

Most Instagram users take advantage of the Stories feature, which allows you to post short disappearing photos and videos with gifs, emojis, and music.

Adding music to your Instagram Story is a simple process once you know where to look. You can even add music directly from other apps like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Shazam.

Here's how to do it all, or troubleshoot if you don't have the option to add music.

How to add music to your Instagram Story

To add music to an Instagram Story, tap the square smiley face icon in the top-right corner, and select the Music sticker in the pop-up menu. Choose a song by scrolling through the list and customize it by using the buttons that appear at the bottom of your Story.

Here's a full step-by-step breakdown.

1. Open the Instagram app on your iOS or Android device.

2. Swipe right on your feed's home screen to open the Stories feature. Alternatively, tap the plus "+" sign on your profile picture in the top-left corner to create a new Story.

3. Take or select the photo or video you want to post to your Instagram Story.

4. In the menu bar along the top of your screen, tap the square smiley face icon, which looks like a Post-It being peeled away.

5. In the pop-up, tap the Music option. Then, in the search box that appears, type in a song title or scroll through the listed options.

6. Tap on the song you want to include when it appears on the list. You can tap the play button to preview a song before selecting it.

7. Drag the small bar at the bottom of the screen to adjust the segment of the song you want in your Story.

Quick tip: Tap the number icon to adjust the clip duration. Music snippets can be as short as 5 seconds and as long as 15 seconds.

8. Tap Done when finished. You can drag the lyrics or song icon to a different location, or pinch the icon outward or inward with your fingers to make it a different size. Then, post your Story as you normally would.

Quick tip: You can select how you want the music to visually appear on your Story — as lyrics in different fonts, the cover art of the album, or a small text box announcing the name of the song.

How to add lyrics to your Instagram Story

Once you select a song, you can choose to display the lyrics on your Story as the song plays in the background.

1. Select a song following the steps outlined in the previous section.

2. Tap through the text icons above the song slider to preview the different options.

Some lyric styles show all the lyrics at once, while others reveal them one word at a time. Abigail Abesamis Demarest/Insider

3. When you've found the one you like, tap Done.

Quick tip: Adding in song lyrics can make your Story more accessible, and help users who aren't watching Stories with volume on.

How to add music to your Instagram Story via streaming apps

You can add music  to your Instagram story directly from Spotify, SoundCloud, or Shazam. Here's how to do it on each app:

Add music to Instagram Story from Spotify

6. Once you post your Story, a link will appear at the top of the Story that says Play on Spotify. Anyone who views your Story can click this link to be taken directly to that Spotify page.

Quick tip: This is a great way to share your custom playlists with friends who also have the Spotify app.

Add music to Instagram Story from SoundCloud

1. Open the SoundCloud app on your iOS or Android device.

2. Find the song, album, or playlist you want to add to your Instagram Story and tap the ellipsis icon

4. SoundCloud will open the Instagram app and automatically upload the cover art of the song, album, or playlist to a new Instagram Story.

5. Once you post your Story, a link will appear at the top of the Story that says Play on SoundCloud. Anyone who views your Story can click this link to be taken directly to that SoundCloud page.

Add music to Instagram Story from Shazam

1. Open the Shazam app on your iOS or Android device.

2. You can Tap to Shazam to identify a new song, or choose a song from your list of previous Shazams. Once you've identified a song, tap on it so it becomes full-screen.

3. On the song's full-screen page, tap the share icon in the top-right corner. Select Instagram from the list of options. A pop-up may ask your permission to open the Instagram app.

The process for sharing a Shazam song on stories is very similar to Spotify and SoundCloud. Abigail Abesamis Demarest/Insider

4. Shazam will open the Instagram app and automatically upload the cover art of the song to a new Instagram Story.

Quick tip: Like Spotify and SoundCloud, if you want the music to play over the cover art image, you'll need to add music using the square smiley face icon, as described above.

5. Once you post your Story, a link will appear at the top of the Story that says More on Shazam. Anyone who views your Story can click this link to be taken directly to that song on Shazam.

How to add music to an Instagram Story if you don't have the music sticker

1. Open a music streaming app, like Spotify or Apple Music, on your device.

2. Start playing the song you want to use.

3. With the song still playing, go back to Instagram and record your Story; the music playing on your phone will be integrated. However, you won't be able to add a dynamic album cover or live lyrics.

Quick tip: If you add music this way, Instagram will check your Story for copyright infringement, and if detected, will remove the sound from your video.

There may be a few reasons why you don't have the music sticker:

  • You live in a country where the feature isn't available. Music is enabled on the app in over 90 countries, but due to Instagram's strict adherence to copyright law, it's disabled in some countries.
  • Your app is out of date. You may need to simply update Instagram.
  • You're trying to share a branded content campaign. Due to copyright laws and Instagram's advertising policies, music and some other features like stickers and emojis aren't allowed in branded content ads.

How to Insert Music in Instagram Stories - Adding a Track Snippet

Inserting Music in Instagram Stories is a long-awaited feature for thousands of users in Russia. While the whole world was enjoying the opportunity to listen to Stories with music and add tracks from the music library to Instagram, Russian bloggers tried in every possible way to get around the existing restrictions. Now Instagram users in Russia breathed a sigh of relief - complex manipulations are no longer needed, music can be added to Stories easily and completely legally using the functionality of Instagram itself. nine0003

Music in Stories: what is it and why?

Stories is one of the popular content formats on Instagram, but until June 22, 2021, a standard sticker with music in Russia was not available in Russia. And although some users found "loopholes" to voice their stories, doing so was quite inconvenient. Today, this feature has been implemented for all accounts - both for personal pages and for business profiles, it is not difficult to add music to Stories on Instagram. However, there are a number of features that are worth familiarizing yourself with. nine0003

Differences in the set of tracks for personal and business accounts

Depending on the profile category (personal account or business profile), the user is offered one or another music database. To date, Instagram provides about nine thousand tracks for commercial use - that is, a truncated base.

Personal profiles that can use all the music featured on Instagram include bloggers, writers, gamers, photographers, artists, and more. The reduced base is offered to shops, brands, websites, hotels and a number of other categories, the full list of which can be found in the profile settings. nine0003

Some Instagram users may be tempted to move their business profile to another category in order to be able to use the full library. However, experts do not recommend doing this. Instagram has implemented sophisticated algorithms for analyzing content and tracking music copyrights, so there is a high probability that Instagram will recognize illegal use of content, which is fraught with the removal of Stories and blocking offending accounts. Another unfortunate consequence may be getting a lawsuit demanding compensation to the copyright holder of the music for its use for commercial purposes by a third party. nine0003

Use of music in promotional stories

Purely theoretically, a blogger can use music in advertising integrations in the Stories format, but in practice it is better not to publish such content, since no one has canceled the copyright law - the author of Stories, even if he is registered as a blogger and has access to the full music database , has no right to use the music for commercial purposes, as it does not have a license for this. And advertising, in whatever form it is presented, is in any case commercial content. Thus, despite access to an expanded database of music, SMM experts advise against abusing this opportunity when it comes to advertising. nine0003

How to add a track fragment to Stories and other features when creating content with music

Instagram developers have tried to make the function of adding music to Stories as simple and clear as possible. Let's take a closer look at the main points.

How to add a track fragment to Stories

Step 1. Create a story and find the Music sticker

When you create a Story at the stage of editing a photo or video, you can add filters and other stickers. Among them, “Music” has now become available to users of the social network from Russia. If there is no icon with a note symbol on the screen, then you should click on the button for adding stickers and find among them the one that says “Music”. nine0003

Step 2. Add a music sticker to Stories and select a track

When you click on Music in the list of stickers, a list of recommended tracks is displayed on the screen. But the track you need can be found through the search. If you're adding music to a personal account, you're more likely to find the track you're looking for, but if you're posting a story to a business account, you'll have to choose from what's available.

Step 3 Customize the Sticker Appearance

Users have several options for displaying the music sticker. If the text of the selected song is in the Instagram database, then the selected lines with animation (like karaoke) will appear on the screen. Moreover, their font, color and appearance features can be customized. If there is no text in the database, or you do not want to use animation, you can choose one of the proposed sticker options with the album cover image, artist name and song title. After that, click the "Finish" button. nine0003

Step 4. Choose a location for the sticker

After the sticker is ready, you need to choose a place for it on the screen. It can be tilted, resized, moved around the screen. In a word, do everything the same as with other stickers.

How to listen to the whole track

Instagram makes it possible to listen not only to a fragment of a song included in the History, but also to the entire track. To do this, when viewing a story, you need to click on the sticker, and the entire melody will open from below in the form of a simple player. nine0003

How to find out more about the artist

You can not only listen to the whole song, but also learn more about the artist of the song. To do this, click on the author's name and his account will open.

What to do if the music sticker is missing

According to Instagram representatives, music stickers will appear among Russian users of the social network gradually. Thus, some bloggers will have to wait a few days, and possibly weeks. You can try to speed up the process in the following ways: nine0003

  • update Instagram app
  • check that the VPN was not turned on (it is very likely that the social network "thinks" that you are in another country and does not include music stickers)
  • log out and log in to your account, reinstall the mobile application

However, such methods may not help. So it's best to just be patient.

In conclusion, we would like to note: do not ignore the new functions and options of social networks. Any of them can be your “lucky ticket”, because you can’t predict exactly what your audience will react to. Therefore, the best solution is to try different ways to draw attention to your profile, use new non-standard solutions, connect your imagination and try to give your audience something new, special. In this case, your subscribers will undoubtedly respond to you with attention, increased engagement and increased loyalty. nine0003

Now you can add a soundtrack to your story that suits every moment and helps you express your feelings - Instagram. nine0103

For a long time he worked only in 6 countries, excluding Russia. On June 23, 2021, the music sticker finally started working in Russia. Now you can add music to Instagram directly in the story editor, absolutely legally and for free.

In this article I will tell and show you how to use the new feature.

FAQ

The ability to add music to Instagram stories appeared without a loud announcement, and not all users fully understand how it works. Below I have compiled answers to frequently asked questions for you.

⚡ Why can't I add music to my Instagram stories? In Russia, the ability to add music to Instagram stories appeared only on June 23, 2021. As with any update, the feature will gradually roll out to all users. If your friends are already playing tracks in stories and you still can't find the "music" sticker, you just have to wait. In a couple of hours or days, updates will reach all profiles. nine0003

Here are some more reasons why you might be having problems with your music:

  1. You are using an outdated version of the app. If for some reason the applications on your smartphone do not update automatically, open the App Store or Google Play store, find "Instagram" and click the "update" button next to the application.
  2. You promote branded content. Instagram has the ability to tag a business partner/sponsor in a post. A special label appears above such content, you can read more about it in this article. When promoting (launching ads) branded content, you cannot add music and GIFs to it. nine0076
  3. You are not in Russia. Music is still not available in many countries. If you're in a country where this feature doesn't work, or you're using a VPN, you won't be able to add music.
  4. You have a business account connected. Due to some licensing restrictions, commercial accounts may not have a complete music library. If you have a business profile and you notice that you are not finding songs that other users have, switch to an author account. So you expand your music library and do not lose access to advanced statistics. nine0076

⚡ Can I use Instagram music for commercial purposes? Instagram does not provide access to the song library for all accounts. The licensed music library is available for non-commercial use only. You can add a track to the story, convey the mood to them.

Some business accounts do not have access to the track library, but only the free Facebook sound collection.
