How does instagram and facebook work together

How To Link Instagram To Facebook & Why You Should

Share images directly to News Feed

Ever since Facebook decided to drop $1 billion on the acquisition of Instagram, the offered integration has made the two social platforms seemingly inseparable. The integration these two services offer is something you can’t yet find across any other social media platforms.

Other social media sites such as Twitter do allow you to publish Instagram posts in web link format. However, Facebook is the only one that will let you share images directly from Instagram to your News Feed.

Table of Contents

Streamlined content is only one of several reasons to link Instagram to Facebook. Let’s dive into them.

How To Link Instagram To Facebook & Why You Should

The ability to link Instagram to Facebook gives you the chance to post the pics and videos you take or edit seamlessly for your viewers and fans. To add to this, Likes you acquire on Instagram will translate over to your Facebook posts.

Facebook’s user base is far larger than that of Instagram. Using both will have the extra added benefit of reaching more people, with the potential of increasing your following significantly. That, and Instagram’s algorithmic feed has been shown to prioritize the more engaging posts, meaning additional likes received on Facebook could help your content rank higher.

Not only can you increase exposure, but even if you don’t care about that, keeping up with friends, family, or fans is made easier when cross-posting between platforms. Also, account recovery is less painful when you lose your account or can’t access one of them. Being linked will help save you a bit of frustration.

Facebook will even save all uploads from Instagram and place them in their own album titled Instagram photos. Not to mention all Instagram post details like location, hashtags, and emojis are seamlessly shared to Facebook.

    Brand Engagement

Instagram currently has over 200 million active users with 75 million of them active each day. With 43% of all brands posting daily, Instagram is indeed a platform that has branding written all over it.

Instagram provides brands with an additional social media platform to garner exposure, a larger fan base, and an uptick in revenue. Keeping your social media options minimal by sticking to only Facebook or Twitter can severely hinder your chances in an overly saturated market, where other brands have already embraced multiple digital platforms.

You most certainly don’t want to break up your audience by asking them to switch up social media platforms. So the only real solution is to use both. Even if fans won’t follow you over you’ll still have two active sources of content enabling you to build a second fan base.

Just let your Facebook fans know about your Instagram profile and provide them with a choice to follow it or not. Showcase all Instagram content to your Facebook audience in posts and every photograph that is relevant to them should be hashtagged as such.

    Link Instagram to Facebook

To link the two social media accounts will require a mobile device. The process of linking Instagram to Facebook is almost identical for both iOS and Android operating systems.

    • Begin pairing your accounts by opening the Instagram app on your mobile device and heading to the Profile screen.
    • Tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    • From the menu, tap Settings.
    • From the long list, tap Account.
    • Followed by Linked Accounts.
    • Here you’ll find a list of different social platforms that you can link up to your Instagram account. Facebook will be at the top of the list.
    • It will benefit you to link up any accounts that you see that can integrate with Instagram including Tumblr, Twitter, and the others. So long as you have an account for those social media platforms, of course.
    • Tap Facebook and you’ll then need to sign in using your Facebook credentials. You can do this through your browser, or if you have it, the Facebook app.
    • Once signed in, your accounts will be linked. You’ll notice that your Facebook option now has your name to the right of it.
    • This means that when you post on Instagram, or Facebook, you will be able to share it seamlessly to the other social media platform as well.
      • You can enable this anytime during a post through the corresponding button on the caption screen.
    Share Older Photos
    • To share older pics from Instagram to Facebook (or any other social media app you have on your mobile device), select the image and open the menu in the upper-right corner.
    • Then, tap Share to… from the pop-up menu.
    • Select the app to share to and send it out.
      • For other apps other than Facebook, it’s likely the image will show up as a link. Keep that in mind when you select it.
      • You’re usually given the chance to add a message along with the image or link.

There’s also a way to have it set to automatically share all new posts.

    Automatic Post
    • Back in Settings > Accounts > Linked Accounts, click on Facebook.
      • In this window you can toggle on a few things including Share Your Story to Facebook and Share Your Posts to Facebook.
    • These toggles will make all stories and posts share automatically to your Facebook feed.
    • If you happen to also have pages attached to your Facebook profile, you can toggle to have all posts from Instagram sent automatically to that page as well.
      • Tap Share to and select your pages under Choose a Page.
    Remove Integration
    • The option to Unlink your accounts is also present in the Settings > Accounts > Linked Accounts > Facebook window.
    • To unlink, simply tap the button and confirm your desire to unlink accounts.
    • This will not remove posts already made between platforms, but stop all future post sharing until re-integration is made following the steps outline above.

Facebook and Instagram are two of the most popular mobile platforms. In fact, one in five minutes on mobile is spent on Instagram or Facebook. That’s more than the next 10 mobile platforms combined.1

Since Instagram advertising became available around the world last fall, advertisers of every size have been able to easily run and manage ad campaigns across both Instagram and Facebook to reach more people. Advertisers can add Instagram ads to Facebook ad campaigns through both Ads Manager and Power Editor by simply checking the “Instagram” box under the ad set’s Placement section. And businesses have seen that doing so helps them reach more people with little added effort.

Campaigns that ran across both Facebook and Instagram resulted in similar or better performance for website clicks, website conversions, video views and mobile app installs than those that ran on just one.2

Here’s how a few businesses are using Facebook and Instagram advertising together.

Facebook + Instagram campaigns help businesses meet their goals

MVMT Watches saw a 20% lower cost per conversion and cost per action when running ads across Facebook and Instagram.

We use Instagram as another placement on Facebook, not a separate channel, because it allows us to scale our campaigns quickly by reaching more of our targeted audience.

    - Steven Dinelli, Ad Manager, MVMT Watches

Kanui, a Brazilian men’s lifestyle brand, ran a campaign to promote downloads of their mobile app. By adding Instagram to their Facebook ad set, they saw a similar cost per install, generating a 2.8x higher return on ad spend.3

We were so pleased by the outcome of our ads on Instagram and Facebook, we’re changing all of our ad sets to run across both platforms going forward.

    - Guilherme Becker, Performance Director, Kanui

UGO Wallet, a Canadian mobile wallet app, saw a 45% better cost per install on their joint Facebook and Instagram campaign versus previous campaigns running on Facebook alone.

With Instagram and Facebook’s complementary audiences, we can reach people in the environment where they are most engaged in a single campaign.

    - Katharine Ashworth, Director of Marketing, UGO Mobile Solutions LP

Ready to run your own campaign on Facebook and Instagram?

Facebook and Instagram campaigns can use the same photos or video across both platforms or unique creative for each. When you’re ready to use Facebook and Instagram ads together, either add Instagram to an existing campaign by editing the ad set’s Placement settings or set up a new campaign across both platforms.

How Facebook and Instagram are connected, a complete analysis of the logic - Social networks on vc.

    ru

The material was prepared by Daniil Vem, founder of SMM Cluster.

Almost everyone always scolds Facebook for its complexity and versatility. Especially in the context of business on Instagram. About how to understand everything and forgive Facebook sins, and will be discussed.

For the impatient - the complete scheme at the end, and for the rest - a detailed analysis of it, based on the logic of work, below.

3 facts before the start of

Fact 1. Instagram has been owned by Facebook since 2012. To date, the algorithms are very similar, although not identical everywhere.

Fact 2. Facebook's audience in the CIS is 32,000,000 people, and Instagram's is 69,000,000 people.

Fact 3. Both sites have tools for business promotion, and they will be discussed in this article in the first place.

    Step 1. Personal Facebook page

    Personal Facebook account Daniil Vem

It all starts with a personal Facebook account. It is needed for:

    • personal brand development
    • administration of business pages, groups and events
    • to connect with the Instagram account, which allows you to increase trust in it, and as a result, allows you to restore it in case of blocking
    • to invite your friends to business pages, groups and events (gray methods that can result in a ban)

A personal account can be promoted by content (likes, reposts, comments = increase in reach), or by adding friends to the target audience (gray method) and recommending other profiles to add you as friends (gray method when you have more than 5000 friends).

From a personal account you can create:

    • event
    • group
    • business page
    • business manager
    • advertising

At the same time, a business page can also be created through the business manager.

What can be created from a personal Facebook account Daniel Vem

    Step 2. Facebook business page

Today, this is the best format for presenting a business on Facebook. Groups are more social and rarely touch business goals, and events are episodic.

Unlike a personal account, in a business page you can:

    • call it the name of the brand (the name is well indexed, so do not hesitate to use keywords for search)
    • fill in all contact information about yourself (alas, with only one address, which does not affect geo-tags, since they are created through publications)
    • create a product catalog and link it to the website and Instagram
    • run ads on Facebook and Instagram feeds (here it should be noted that you can advertise on Instagram without an Instagram account, just on behalf of a business page)
    • Monitor post statistics and schedule publications
    • set up chatbots to automate messages
    • collect an active audience to find people similar to them and display ads on them

    Step 3. Instagram business account

Personal and business profiles on Instagram Daniil Vem

You can not immediately register a business account on Instagram. In any case, you first register a personal account, and then transform it into a business.

The transformation process occurs through the connection with the Facebook business page. It also gives you access to set up ads on Instagram through your ad account. You can start the transformation either through the business page settings, or through the settings of your personal Instagram account.

A business account on Instagram expands its capabilities, namely, it adds:

    • audience statistics
    • publication statistics
    • target action buttons (call, email, how to get there) and geolocation mark
    • the ability to run ads from a computer (from the advertising account) and from an account (without special audience settings)
    • the ability to collect an active audience to search for people similar to them and display ads on them
    • the ability to attach products from the Facebook catalog to publications

    Summary and complete diagram

This diagram will help you put together all the knowledge about the structure of Facebook and Instagram. It also takes into account points that were not mentioned above, or mentioned, but in passing.

Facebook and Instagram connection system Daniil Vem

I will be glad to answer questions about the nuances of the scheme in the comments on vc or on the site of the smm cluster. By the way, the site has many more free and useful sections for marketers in the field of social networks.
