You’re expecting a message from a friend. When you finally hear the notification sound, you rush to check your phone to only see you didn’t get the message you are waiting for. Since you get the same notification sound for all your WhatsApp messages, there’s no way to know whose message it’s from. Or, is there?
The good news is that WhatsApp has a large variety of notification sounds to choose from. It even allows you to add a notification sound of your own, whether you have them on your Android device or get it from a third-party app. Let’s see how you can change the notifications sound for all your contacts or only a few of them.
Open WhatsApp and open the contacts whose notification sound you want to change. Tap on the dots at the top right and choose View Contact.
Once you’re in the contact’s settings, look for and tap on the Custom notifications option. It should be the second one down.
At the top, you’re going to see a box for the Use custom notifications option. Check that box, and more options will become available. Tap on the notification tone and choose from the options WhatsApp has to offer, or you can tap on the add ringtone option at the very end and choose one from your device.
If you have an app like Zedge installed, you’ll see the app icon after tapping on the notification sound option. Tap on the Zedge icon and go to the ap’s notification sound section. Look for a tone you like and download it. Don’t forget to set it as a tone or add it to the media folder.
As long as you’re in the notification section of WhatApp, you can also turn on or off the notifications’ vibrate option. If you don’t want to miss a single notification, you can also toggle the Use high priority notifications.
If you want a fresh start for all your WhatsApp contacts, tap on the dots at the top right and go to Settings.
Tap on the notifications option, and you’ll end up in the notification settings. Tap on the Notification tone option and choose your new tone.
Who isn’t in a WhatsApp group, right? If you’re in quite a few, you might be interested in giving each group their own notification sound. That way, you know if it’s worth picking up your phone or not.
Open WhatsApp and open the group whose notification sound you want to change. Go to group info by tapping on the group name on the top or tapping on the top right dots. The Custom notifications option will be the second one on the list. Check the box for the Use custom notifications option at the top. If you don’t check the box for this option, the other notifications options won’t be available.
To change the notification sound, tap on Notification tone and choose your new sound. You can choose your new sound from your Android device or a third-party app you’ve already installed.

Not only can you play with individual notifications — you can change your WhatsApp messaging notifications across the entire app. You can turn them off or on, as well as change the sound for all of your WhatsApp contacts.
You can turn on notifications again by following the same steps listed above.
Now all messages from WhatsApp will have the sound you've selected unless you've chosen a specific tone for a specific contact.
You can turn on group notifications again by following the same steps listed above.
Now all your group messages will play the tone you've selected.
Like most apps on the iPhone, notifications are a little different when you are actually in the app. If you are chatting with your friends or editing your contact list, you don't want to miss important notifications from people.
You can customize these in-app notifications in WhatsApp with just a few simple taps on the screen.
You can change how WhatsApp notifications will appear on your phone when you are in WhatsApp.
This will affect the type of visual notification you will see when you are in WhatsApp, but not when you are on the Home screen or anywhere else on your phone.
You can turn the sound back on for in-app notifications by following the same steps listed above.
You can turn the vibration back on for in-app notifications by following the same steps listed above.
If you don't want WhatsApp message to show any previews of what incoming messages say when you get a notification, you can turn that feature off in settings.
When the switch is gray, the feature is off.You can turn on message previews again by following the same steps listed above.
If you want to restore all your notifications settings to the default WhatsApp settings, you can do so through the settings tab.

Are you tired of the standard notification sounds on your phone? Want to brighten them up with something more fun? Then you have come to the right place! Here's our guide to changing notification tones on your Android smartphone.

All Android devices will play a default notification sound unless a particular app uses a different tone. If you want to change the sound, here is what you should do:
A list of different notification sounds will appear. Click on the tone to listen to, then press OK, to select it. It's simple!
Depending on the version of Android and the manufacturer of the phone, the name of this setting may differ slightly, you may even have to look for this setting elsewhere.
For example, on a Pixel 2 running Android 8.0 (Oreo), you would need to open Settings Android, then select Sound , and then select Default Ringtone . To set notification sounds, you need to click Advanced , also in the menu Sound .
In an older model, such as an LG G4 phone running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), you will need to open Android settings, then select "Notifications" and then "Ringtones".
Apps like Facebook or Gmail often have their own notification sounds, but you can easily change them if you want.
