How to send pictures in WhatsApp without a reduction in picture quality

Facebook-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp has become quite popular these days, so much so that you will rarely find a person today who has not used it or doesn’t use it. It has become the go-to app for texting, sharing videos, photos among other things. For sharing images, it is certainly one of the most popular apps. When we want to share a photo with someone, we usually just select that picture and forward it to someone on private chat or in a group. What many of us don't know is that while doing so, the quality of the picture received on the other end does not remain the same as that of the original picture. It gets deteriorated actually. However, there are ways to send pictures through WhatsApp without losing the original quality. These steps can really come in handy when you are sharing your photos with someone over WhatsApp.

Method-1: Renaming the picture and then sending

This is quite an easy method if you've to send one or two images.

1.

Open the file manager/explorer and locate the particular image you want to send.

2.

Simply rename the image to image.doc, go to the intended recipient's profile and send it to the recipient as an attachment (the paper clip icon) since the image has now been converted into a .doc file.

3.

Ask the recipient to rename the received file again to .jpg format to view it.

Method-2: Compressing multiple images into a zipped file

A particularly useful way to send if you've images in bulk. Here are the steps:

1.

Compress the whole image folder using your phone's file manager or any third-party compression tool.

2.

Share the zipped folder from the file manager/explorer straightaway or send it to the receiver as an attachment.

3.

Ask the recipient to uncompress the received zipped folder.

This method is easy for the recipient also because they do not have to go through the hassle of renaming every single image file since you've sent all the images inside a folder. They'll just have to rename one folder to get all the images without any loss in size or quality.

How to send high-quality photos to WhatsApp want to send a high quality image, we open the chat and click on the attachment.

We select the gallery option and select an image from there and then send it. It's okay if you don't care about quality, but if you want full quality, use the method below.

1) First of all go to WhatsApp and open a chat. Click the attachment option with the paperclip icon.

2) Now instead of selecting the gallery option, select the document option.

3) This will open your file storage. Once you're in the file vault, find your image and select it. Click on the send option in the pop-up window to send the image.

4) that's all your image will be delivered in full quality.

It is fast and can be used with an image size of 6-7 MB. However, if your image is in RAW format and is larger than 15MB, there may be a quality issue. Don't worry; there are other ways to send those large images to whatsapp without sacrificing quality.

Method 2: Rename the file

WhatsApp recognizes JPEG and PNG images. If you rename the images to a different name, WhatsApp will not recognize the images and will deliver the file as is. Images contain metadata and sometimes WhatsApp can recognize the file type, but this is rare and so you can try this method.

1) First of all, go to your file manager and select the image you want to send.

2) hold this image file and click on the rename option.

Then change the file extension to PDF or DOC by renaming it.

Method 3: compress the image file

You can use applications to compress any type of file. The same applies to the image file. File Compress apps compress your image without quality reduction and change it to a format that WhatsApp cannot recognize this type of file and deliver the file as it is.

You can use any compressor application of your choice. There are many apps for Android and iOS devices. ES File Explorer is one such application.

To compress a file using ES File Explorer, first download and install the app from the app store. Open the app and find the image file. Once you find that the image is being held onto it, a menu will open, select the compression option.

After that, a new dialog box will appear, in which all compression settings will be specified. Leave them as they are and set the compression quality to 100 after this compression option. That's all your file will be compressed. Now send the file using the attachment option.

Method 4: Use Google Drive

If nothing works for you, this will definitely work. All you need is a Google account with access to Google Drive. You can also use iCloud if you are an iOS device user.

1) First of all, upload images to your Google Drive or iCloud from your phone. Now navigate to the drive and select the image you want to share. You can also select an entire folder if you want to send many images.

2) After selecting a file or folder, click Options and select the Share Link option from the menu.

3) This will copy the share link to the clipboard. Paste the link into your message and send it.

4) All users with this link can view and download images from your Google drive.

If you want to allow only a few users to view and download these images, you can only allow these people in your drive settings.

Output

To sum up, these are all available solutions for this, sending high quality photos using Whatsapp. You can always use them if necessary, but sometimes if other methods don't work, use the google drive method. Also, there are some other apps that send images in the same quality and don't compress or reduce the quality of the images, so you can try those too.

That's all for this article. We hope this resolves all your doubts and provides you with a solution to help you send high quality images using WhatsApp.

The selected file is not a photo in Whatsapp

June 19th, 2019 Ekaterina Vasilyeva Whatsapp. When uploading another picture to a dialogue with a person, the error “The selected file is not a photo” may appear. What is this message? How can I quickly remove it in order to finally send the file?

Why does this error occur? The messenger recognizes and transfers jpg or jpeg files. GIF, TIFF, PNG, and RAW file types may not be accepted.

  • An error occurred while connecting to the internet.
  • The phone has the wrong time or date.
  • There was a problem with the SD flash drive: no free space, technical failure of the card, read-only mode.
  • What to do to fix the problem

The problem must be solved based on the cause. First, check the format of the photo or picture you want to send to another user:

    1. Go to the "Gallery" of the device. Select the file you would like to share on WhatsApp.
    2. Click on the three dots icon. Tap on "Details" in the menu.

      Click on "Details"

    3. Scroll to the bottom of the menu. In the "Path" item, the directory should be displayed and at the end of the path the file name along with the extension (this will be the image format).

The file format is indicated in its name

If the format is not what you need, convert using an online service site, such as Covertio.

You can download a separate conversion program from Play Market or App Store. For Android, a simple Image Format Converter utility is suitable. It is available from the link in the Android app store.

Use the Aspect Ratio Converter to change the photo format

If the format turned out to be jpg or jpeg for the photo, eliminate other causes of the error:

    1. Try sending a few other files to the other party. If they are sent, then the problematic photo may be damaged. Take the photo again if possible.
    2. Check the Internet connection. Open any browser and try to load any website. If you can't access it, try connecting to a different network or contact your ISP or carrier.
    3. Check if the date is correct on your phone. Open the settings, go to the "Date and time" block. Set the date and time usage of your cellular network. Or manually change the data.

Set the correct date and time

    4. Look in the settings in the "Memory" section, how much free space you have left on the internal memory and on the SD card. If the volume is almost exhausted (less than 100 MB are left, which are needed for the correct operation of WhatsApp), delete unnecessary files or remove unnecessary programs. You can clear the utility cache in the "Application Manager" section.

Memory must have at least 100 MB free

    5. Reinstall WhatsApp. Remove it completely and then download it again from the app store.
