Wondering how to save photos from Instagram? Unfortunately, a feature within everyone's favorite photo-sharing app doesn’t exist. While there’s a simple setting feature to save your own posts, it gets a bit trickier if you wish to download a full-resolution .JPG version of a photo from a different user’s account.

Of course, this is by design — you didn't capture the photo, so you probably don't have the copyright to use it. Luckily there’s still a way to save those photos using a web browser. We will show you step-by-step how to save photos from Instagram, whether they’re your own posts or others’.

Why can’t I save photos from Instagram?

Instagram’s copyright rules may explain why the app makes it difficult to save photo posts. If you took an Instagram photo or video, you own the copyright in that post. As the owner of the content, you can prohibit other users from copying or distributing your photos and videos. In an effort to regulate the behavior of 1 billion users, Instagram hinders copyright infringement by omitting an option to save photos directly from the app. For more details, here’s an outline of Instagram’s copyright rules

How to save Instagram photos to an iPhone

Instagram is, without a doubt, the most popular visual platform of the modern era. With hundreds of thousands of beautiful, aesthetically pleasing photos available with just a swipe of your finger, there’s a chance you’ll come across a few you’d like to save on your iPhone.

Whether you want to download your instagram pics for safekeeping, save a picture you were tagged in by a friend or screenshot an image to share later, there are a couple of rules and regulations to keep in mind.

Can you save Instagram pictures?

At this time, Instagram only allows you to directly download your own images through an automatic save tool (which we’ll dive more into later). You don’t have the option to save or download other people’s posts or Stories.

The reason there is no option to save photos from other accounts is to prevent copyright issues. If you’ve taken a photo or video and posted it on Instagram, you are the owner of that content. Therefore, you have the right to stop other people from using your content without your permission.

If you do believe someone is using your content without your consent, Instagram has a form you can fill out to take action.

Because of its strict copyright rules, Instagram recommends that if you do save another person’s photo and repost it on your account, you get that person’s permission first or at least give them credit for the content.

Saving your own Instagram photos

The only time you don’t have to worry about infringing on copyright issues is when you save your own Instagram photos. Because you are the owner of the content, there’s no need to get special permission or consent from anyone else.

How to download all your Instagram photos

If you want to save your photos from Instagram, the good news is that you don’t have to go through and save them all one-by-one, as long as you have the Save Original Photos feature in your account turned on.

Here’s how to automatically save all of your Instagram photos to your iPhone:

  1. Open Instagram.
  2. Navigate to your profile by pressing the icon of your profile picture at the bottom-right of the screen.
  3. Press the three horizontal lines at the top-right of the screen.
  4. Navigate to Settings > Account > Original Photos.
  5. Press the toggle to turn it on or off.

When this toggle is turned on, every photo you post will be automatically saved to your iPhone’s Camera Roll.

How to download your Instagram Story photo

If you want to save the Instagram photos you’ve shared or posted to your Story, there’s a simple setting in your Story Controls to automatically save your images.

Here’s how to turn it on:

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Press your Story icon at the top-left of the screen.
  3. Tap the More button at the bottom-right of the screen.
  4. Then tap Story Settings.
  5. Scroll down until you see the Save to Camera Roll option.
  6. Toggle the feature on or off.
  7. Press Done.

And voila! Your Instagram Story images will be automatically saved to your Camera Roll. If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to have that feature on, you’ll have to remember to do the following to save your images before they disappear from the 24-hour Story mark:

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Press the Story icon at the top-left of the screen.
  3. Navigate to the photo you wish to save.
  4. Press the three dots at the bottom-right of the screen.
  5. Tap Save.
  6. Finally, tap Save Photo.

Following these steps will save a single photo to your iPhone’s Camera Roll. If you want to save all the photos and videos from your Story, you can select the Save Story option instead of Save Photo. Doing this will download your Story in a video format to your Camera Roll.

How to save a photo from your Instagram Story Archive

Even if you’re not automatically saving Story photos to your iPhone’s Camera Roll, they’re automatically saved to your Instagram Story Archive — so long as you have that feature turned on.

Here’s how to check if you’re saving your Stories to the Archive:

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Navigate to your profile by pressing the icon of your profile picture at the bottom-right of the screen.
  3. Press the three horizontal lines at the top-right of the screen.
  4. Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Story.
  5. Press the Save to Archive toggle to turn this feature on or off.

Once your photos and videos are automatically saved to your Story Archive, saving them to your iPhone Camera Roll is simple. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Navigate to your profile by pressing the icon of your profile picture at the bottom-right of the screen.
  3. Press Archive.
  4. Press Archive at the top.
  5. Select Stories.
  6. Navigate to the photo you want to download.
  7. Press on the photo.
  8. Next, press the three dots at the bottom-right of the screen.
  9. Finally, press Save Photo.

Doing this will save the photo directly to your Camera Roll.

How to download your Instagram photos

Since some of the processes for downloading your photos can be a little tedious, you may be toying with the idea of just downloading all of your Instagram photos at once — but is that even possible?

Yes, but you can’t do it from the convenience of your iPhone. To download all of your Instagram data at once, you’ll need to migrate to your desktop.

Here’s how to download all of your Instagram photos from your computer:

  1. Go to Instagram’s website.
  2. Log in with your username and password.
  3. Click the icon of your profile picture at the top-right of the screen to navigate to your profile.
  4. Next, click the gear icon next to the Edit Profile button.
  5. Then click Privacy and Security.
  6. Scroll down until you see the option Data Download.
  7. Click Request Download.
  8. Type in your email address if it isn’t already in the box.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Enter your Instagram password.
  11. Click Request Download.

How long it takes to receive your download depends on how much data you have. The more data that’s linked to your account, the longer it will take to receive an email with all of your photos and videos. But once you have it, all you have to do is save it to your computer.

Downloading other people’s Instagram photos

There are no legal issues to wade through when it comes to saving your own content, but what if you want to download a photo from someone else’s account?

Remember, the golden rule of avoiding copyright infringement on Instagram is to ask the creator’s permission and give them credit if you repost elsewhere. Once you have that, there are two options for saving the photo to your Camera Roll.

How to save an Instagram photo by taking a screenshot

The simplest way to save an Instagram photo from someone else’s account is to take a screenshot of it. When you screenshot anything on your iPhone, it’s automatically saved to your Camera Roll and your Screenshots folder.

Here’s how to take a screenshot of someone else’s Instagram photo:

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Navigate to the photo you wish to save.
  3. Scroll so that the entire photo is displayed within the screen.
  4. Press your iPhone’s volume up button and the side button at the same time.
  5. Press the thumbnail of the screenshot that appears at the bottom-left of the screen.
  6. Slide the sides of the image until you’ve cropped it down to just the photo itself.
  7. Press Done.

How to download an Instagram photo using Inscopy

Another option for downloading Instagram photos to your iPhone is to use a third-party app. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll show you how to save an Instagram photo with the app Inscopy.

Free and available in the App Store, Inscopy has over 2,000 reviews and four and a half stars. Using an interface similar to Instagram, it allows you to download photos and videos — both from Stories and your feed — directly to your Camera Roll.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Open the Inscopy app.
  2. Log in with your Instagram username and password.
  3. Navigate to the photo you wish to download by going through your liked photos or by using the search tool.
  4. Press the photo.
  5. Press the download arrow button at the bottom-right of the photo.

Doing this will automatically download the photo to your Camera Roll.

6 ways with detailed instructions

Good afternoon, friends.

The Instagram social network is developing rapidly, new functionality appears regularly, bugs and problems are fixed. However, each program has its limitations. They can be a flaw of the creators or their conscious decision.

The lack of a direct ability to download photos from Instagram is a feature of this platform. And this can be understood. People are more willing to post pictures knowing that no one will be able to use them. However, there are workarounds that can be done. This is exactly what we will talk about today and find out how to save photos from Instagram.

Content

Remember, if Instagram is blocked in any country, you can always access it via VPN.

Saving all photos by email

1. Go to the menu, select the item "Your activity".

2. Click "Download Information".

3. Specify your email address to which to send the photo archive.

4. We go through the protection of information by entering the password for your account.

5. We are waiting for the archive to the mail.

Saving your photos in your phone

Solving this problem is quite simple. We go to the application on a mobile device.

Swipe the screen from right to left and at the bottom of the panel that opens, click on the gear icon.

Go to the "Original Publications" section on an Android phone or "Original Photos" on iPhones. Here we set the levers to the desired position to save photos and videos on the device.

This is the only way to download images provided by Instagram itself. Everything else is sleight of hand and our resourcefulness.

You can make a free analysis of subscribers through the InstaHero service. You will find out why coverage is falling, who your audience is and what type of content will go best .

Taking a screenshot

This is an accessible way for everyone to copy a photo from someone else's Instagram profile. You can do this on different devices.

On the phone

To take a screenshot, you need to press a specific button or key combination. They differ depending on the brand and model of the gadget. I have an Asus phone, in it I need to press and hold the "Recent Documents" button in the lower right corner.

Possible combinations on phones from other manufacturers:

  • screen lock + volume down - they are usually located on the side panel of the device;
  • Long press the power button until the menu appears;
  • menu button + "Back";
  • in iPhones, press the round Home button in combination with the lock located on the side of the gadget.

If you can't find the combination or magic button you want, go to the Play Store or App Store and download one of the apps:

  • ScreenMaster, Screenshot Easy, Screenshot Pro, Lightshot for Android, or Screen Capture for Windows phones.

Screenshots are saved in a folder with all photos or in a separate section in the gallery.

Please note that everything that is currently visible on the screen will be saved and you may have to crop the picture. I will talk about this further.

Computer

We have an article on our blog about how to take high-quality screenshots. It discusses 5 methods with details and explanations. I will show one of them, which is available to everyone without installing additional programs.

Find the desired photo in the web version of Instagram and press the "Prt Sc" button on the keyboard. It is located at the very top closer to the right edge. Now we go to the Start menu, which is hidden under the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the screen. And we find the standard program Paint.

Press the key combination "Ctrl" + "V" or find the button "Paste" or "Paste" in the top panel. A screen image should appear in front of us, including the photo we want to save.

We copied the entire screen, but we only need a photo. Therefore, we cut off everything unnecessary. To do this, click on the option "Select" or "Select" and outline the desired area.

Press the key combination "Ctrl" + "C". Then we open a new document.

Click "Insert" and save the resulting image. If it turned out to be smaller than the white field, we remove the empty space for the lower right corner.

Everything, it remains only to save the photo.

Use the address bar

This is a very simple option. Open the post on the web version of Instagram. In the address bar, after the url, add "media? size = l" without quotes.

Press "Enter". The desired photo will appear on the screen. Right-click on the image and select "Save Image As..."0003

Uploading images through the page code

This method is available only on a computer, I did not manage to perform such a trick on my phone. Open the publication in the web version of the social network, press the right mouse button, then "Page source code".

In the new window, press the combination of buttons "Ctrl" + "F". A search bar will appear at the bottom or top. In it we write "display_resources". The program will highlight the text. We need to copy the line next to this inscription, starting with "https" and ending with "cdninstagram.com" and paste it into the address bar of the browser.

The photo will open. We call the context menu, "Save image as ..." Done, we uploaded a photo from Instagram.

Programs and services

Until now, we have used the tools available to any person on the phone and computer. But there are also specially created programs for downloading photos from Instagram. Let's consider some of them.

Browser extension

When I need a full version of the application on my computer, I use the Google Chrome extension. To download it, go to the menu, "Additional tools", "Extensions".

Next, click on the 3 bars in the upper left corner and at the bottom click on the link "Open the Chrome Web Store". In the search bar we write "instadesktop". Installing the extension.

After that, an icon will appear on top.

Click on it. We see an image of a phone with a full-fledged version of Instagram and a nice bonus: each photo has a button for downloading it.

Phone programs

There are applications for iPhones and Android devices. All you need to do is go to Play Store or App Store and install one of them:

  • InstaSave,
  • FastSave,
  • QuickSave,
  • iSave and others.

They work on approximately the same principle. We go to Instagram, open the publication, click on the three dots next to it and select "Copy link". Then we go to the application for downloading, insert the address of the publication. After a few simple steps, the photo becomes available for saving.

The simplest and most stable application at the moment is FastSave for Android. Try it in action.

Online services

To download photos from Instagram, it is not necessary to install programs, you can use online services. The most popular resources for this are:

  • InstaGrabber.ru,
  • instagramgrabber.net,
  • savefrominsta.com,
  • zasasa.com,
  • www.igrab.ru
  • .

They have the same principle. I will show you on the example of the InstaGrabber service.

First, we go to the web version of Instagram and open the post we are interested in. Copy the address from the browser line and paste it into the line on the site instagrabber.ru. And then click on the arrow.

The photo from the publication will appear on the screen. It remains only to click on the "Download photo" button.

How to save other people's posts on Instagram without downloading

If you don't need to download photos to your device, but just save them as a bookmark on your Instagram, click the checkbox under the post you like.

Saved posts can be seen in your profile. On your phone, swipe from right to left and select the appropriate section.

On the web version of Instagram, you just need to go to the "Saved" tab.

To split posts into topics and put them into folders, click on the checkbox and hold this position. A window will appear where you can select a directory or create a new one and save the entry to it. The nice thing is that no one can see these posts on your profile.

Conclusion

So we've covered all the basic ways to copy photos from Instagram. Let me briefly list them again:

  1. Save your pictures with appropriate settings.
  2. Take screenshots.
  3. Add "media?size=l" to the end of the url.
  4. Extract photos from page code.
  5. Use third-party services and programs.
  6. Copy entire posts to your profile.

Use caution when using unverified software. Install a reliable antivirus and, if possible, do not enter data from your main social network account. And remember that all materials published by users on Instagram are protected by law as objects of copyright.

Write in the comments which method you liked best and suited you, what questions remained, what difficulties you encountered.

And I say goodbye to you. Goodbye friends.

How to save Instagram photos to computer?

Instagram is a very popular Internet service that allows users to share photos uploaded to the site. Various filters can be applied to images, as well as shared on all known social networks. There is a separate application for mobile phones, which, by the way, influenced the popularity of the service - at the beginning of the year, more than 100 million active users were registered on the project!

Saving the image

Instagram is a great service and you just can't argue with that. However, not all users are satisfied with the application interface. Here's a banal example for you - you go to the accounts of other users and view their uploaded photos. You've come across a wonderful picture that you can't help saving on your computer. If there are no problems with this on other sites, you just need to right-click and select "Save as ...", then such a number will not work on Instagram. Therefore, in order to download the image you need, you will have to use a number of tricks.

Two different methods can be used as a solution to this problem, and only with the first method you can save a photo from another user's profile.

The first way

So, you need to select the desired user profile. In our case, it will be the world-famous top model Miranda Kerr. Her page is located at the following address: instagram.com/mirandakerr.

Choose the photo you like best. You open it.

Hover your mouse over the photo, then right-click to bring up the menu. In it, select the item “Explore element” (in Google Chrome it is called “View element code”, but the essence of this does not change).

An additional menu with various letters and numbers will appear at the bottom of the open browser window. Don't worry, everything you need will already be selected, for example:

Don't touch anything! Remember the last 5-6 digits of the selected element (in my case it is 41772 - I highlighted it in orange in the screenshot above). Press the key combination CTRL + U to open the page code. The code also consists of various symbols. Press CTRL+F to bring up the search bar in the page code. We enter the indicated last numbers and, voila, the link is found (it looks something like this httpss://igcdn-photos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e35/11950468_932608080133401_1463841772_n.jpg).

Copy it and paste it into the browser window, press Enter. We get the image, and in its original form, that is, the way it was uploaded by Miranda herself.

Interestingly, the task can be made a little easier. We find the photo, open it, press CTRL + U to open the site code, then press CTRL + F, so that the search bar for the site code appears, type the phrase og: image (without any quotes and other things) and copy the link that is next to this phrase. This is the photo you need.

This method is remarkable in that you can save absolutely any photo you want. It is, of course, complicated for an inexperienced user, but everything should work out for you the first time, and if it doesn’t work out, write about it in the comments. There is always a way out.

Don't forget about copyright.

The second method

Alas, this method allows you to download only those images that are currently in your account. However, if you decide to save photos to memory on your computer, you can safely use this method.

Go to https://instaport.me/ and click the Sign in with Instagram button on the right side of the screen. Enter your username and password for your Instagram account.

Now click on the Download.zip file button and wait for all your photos to be downloaded into a zip file that you can download to your computer. Archiving can take a long time, it depends solely on the number of your images.
