Besides Google Drive, WhatsApp for android usually backs up messages to the local storage on your phone. If you uninstall your WhatsApp, there still are chances of restoring the messages and photos. While restoring from Google drive can be the easiest way, you first need to backup the chats before uninstalling the app from your phone. • Launch the WhatsApp application on your phone and tap the three-dotted icon on the top right side of the screen to access settings from the menu.
  • Navigate the settings screen to find Chats. Open and then click on Chat Backup on the screen.
  • Once the Chat Backup screen appears, tap on the Back-Up button to create a copy of your WhatsApp chats to the internal storage of your phone.

If you need to back up the videos, remember to check the ‘include videos, box and ensure the device has enough storage to accommodate the data.

You can also prevent WhatsApp from backing up your chats to Google Drive. In this case, you should choose your backup frequency to “never.” You will then proceed to tap on the Backup button to begin the process of backing up your WhatsApp data to the local internal storage. You will have the latest WhatsApp chats backup on your phone.

To restore the WhatsApp chats backup using the local backup, you need to uninstall or delete the WhatsApp application from your phone and then reinstall.

  • Launch the new WhatsApp application on your phone and tap agree, and continue to begin the set-up process.
  • Enter your phone number on the next screen and then use the 6- digit code sent to verify. The device can as well automatically detect the verification code from the messaging app.
  • The application will further detect the local backup and prompt you to restore it. Tap on the restore option to get all your recent WhatsApp chats.

Part 2: Restore WhatsApp from earlier backup if the newest backup is overwritten.

If you had not backed up the recent WhatsApp chats on your phone before deleting the application, you could still restore from a previous local backup. The following process with get you done.

    • Step1: Open your file management application on your android phone to access the internal storage or SD card if you had saved the local backup here.
    • Step2: Open the WhatsApp folder, then go to Databases Folder to find the most recent WhatsApp backup file. The files in this folder are named, including the date of the backup.
    • Step3: After selecting the most recent dated file, remove its date. For instance, a file named in ‘msgstore-yyyy-mm-dd.1.db.crypt12’ format should be changed to ‘msgstore.db.crypt12’. The backup extension can always vary, but you are not supposed to remove the crypt extension number.

  • Now download the WhatsApp application from the Google play store and choose to set up using the required procedure, and chose to restore WhatsApp from local backup when prompted.

MobileTrans comes with a couple of features to perform different WhatsApp tasks for both android and iOS devices. Besides transferring WhatsApp data from your phone to the computer, MobileTrans can perform WhatsApp transfer from one phone to another, transfer other content on other social media apps, and restore everything with some clicks.

MobileTrans allows WhatsApp users to transfer content selectively. The software is compatible with various types of data, including messages, audio, videos, messages, and more. You can perfectly transfer to any version of android and iOS device. Transferring to a computer or another device only requires one click hence saving your time. Besides, you do not have to worry about your privacy because MobileTrans will always keep your chat history safe. The tool can also restore the WhatsApp backup to your phone conveniently. In the process of restoring WhatsApp data, MobileTrans does not overwrite the existing data on your phone.

The following steps will guide you on transferring your WhatsApp from your android device to the computer using MobileTrans – WhatsApp transfer. The method is safe, easy, and does not require an internet connection to achieve the task.

    • Step1: Visit the MobileTrans official website to download the setup on your computer or Mac. Install the software following the on-screen instructions. After successful installation, launch the application and then connect your phone using a working USB cable.
    • Step2: When the program opens, click on the "Backup&Restore" option from the available modules and let the software detect the WhatsApp data on the connected phone. Click the start button to initiate the backup process.

      • Step3: Wait as the backup progresses to completion. Soon after WhatsApp data is backed up successfully, you will receive success notification on the screen.

        • Step4: If you want to view the WhatsApp data loaded into the pc, click on the "view it" button appearing on the screen. Clicking on the "ok" button will end the process. Ensure you are clear on using the above procedure to backup your WhatsApp data to a computer successfully. The method is reliable since it does not involve issues with data loss or breach your privacy.

The following section provides a precise comparison of MobileTrans – WhatsApp transfer with other methods to back up WhatsApp data to a computer, i.e., exporting directly from phone memory and the email chat feature. The comparison is based on various elements as described below.

Process time for the transfer: MobileTrans – WhatsApp transfer is the fastest and precise method to transfer WhatsApp data. Exporting from phone memory is slower than the MobileTrans tool but faster than the email chat feature. Email chat is a complicated process and not preferable for most WhatsApp users.

Reliability: MobileTrans and email chat are reliable methods because the WhatsApp messages are readable after transferring to a computer. When you export directly from phone memory, the chats are not readable because the file format is incompatible. You need a WhatsApp backup extractor to convert the files into a readable format.

Transfer rate: MobileTrans tool sends bulk content with a single click, seemingly time-saving and efficient. Exporting directly from the phone memory is relatively fast than the email chat feature, which sends only a single chat at a time.

Data loss: MobileTrans tool does not involve any data loss issues whatsoever or compromise the chat history. The email chat feature also has rare cases of data loss. On the other hand, exporting WhatsApp data directly from phone memory can sometimes have data loss events.

Prior knowledge: When using the MobileTrans - WhatsApp transfer tool, you are provided with an easy follow the wizard to guide you through the transfer process. You don’t need to have prior knowledge because the instructions are unique and clear. Email chat feature requires you to be familiar with the WhatsApp environment and its controls. When exporting WhatsApp data directly from the phone memory, you need to know the location of the content and controls in your computer.

Conclusion

Following the discussions in the above content, you can easily restore your old WhatsApp chats in case you skipped to restore. The methods are described in detail to help you achieve the task with convenience. You only need to pay attention to the approach to ensure you get all your desired messages from the local storage. And if you are looking to backup your WhatsApp content to a computer, MobileTrans WhatsApp transfer is an incredible tool to help you achieve the task conveniently. The steps involved during the backup process are precise and straightforward. Furthermore, you don’t have to worry about the safety of your data.

How to Restore WhatsApp Backup Without Uninstalling? [2022]

Do you have critical official chats on your WhatsApp, but you are about to switch your phone and are looking for WhatsApp Backup?

Well, make it a point to note that how to restore WhatsApp Backup without uninstalling sounds a kind of tricky and impossible to implement. The WhatsApp itself has provided some guidelines over the concerned subject in its FAQ section. Therefore, we should first discuss what WhatsApp says and then talk about an efficient alternative to do the entire task super quickly without reading such lengthy guidelines and following a long list of steps.

We tried to create guidelines on how to restore WhatsApp Backup without uninstalling on Android and iPhone quite easy to understand in the sections given below.

Part 1: Can I restore WhatsApp Backup without uninstalling?

There are no chances to guide you on WhatsApp Backup restoration after its uninstalling. It is because the step is against the system's performance, and so you can’t even think of its implementation in reality.

However, you can follow some simple steps on restoring your chat history in WhatsApp Android and WhatsApp iPhone.

Restore WhatsApp Backup in Android

Almost two ways are suggested by WhatsApp guidelines to restore data and ‘chat history’ to the new phone. These two ways are local Backup and Google Drive.

Use Google Drive Backup to restore WhatsApp Backup Android.

For its successful implementation, you have to use the same Google account and phone number that you've used earlier to create a backup.

Step 1: Reinstall WhatsApp

After you have uninstalled the WhatsApp, simply reinstall it over the new device from the same official platform.

Step 2: Verify details

After reinstallation, you have to open WhatsApp and verify details such as Contact Number, etc.

Step 3: Start restoring

Automatically, a prompt will open in the main screen window where you have to click the Restore button. It will then start restoring chats and media from Google Drive.

Step 4: Proceed with Next

The restoration process will take your few minutes to get complete. After that, you have to tap the Next button. Once initialization got complete, the chats will display over the phone.

Step 5: Restore begins

After the above steps are over, WhatsApp will automatically start restoring your Backup from Google Drive. All the media files will also get restored after chat history backup.

Note: In case you don’t have prior installs from Google Drive, all your backup media will get automatically restored by WhatsApp via local backup.

Use Local Backup to restore WhatsApp Backup Android

To use the local backup facility for restoration, you have to transfer media files to a new device via the file explorer, computer, or SD card. Just keep in mind the following points.

After you have maintained WhatsApp local backup, it’s much easy to restore media files and chat history as follows.

Step 1: Launch File Manager App

Take WhatsApp backup on local storage and access it by installing any File Manager or File Explorer app on your device.

Step 2: Browse device’s storage

Go to your device’s storage and click WhatsApp. Then go to Databases or SD card> WhatsApp> Databases. It is the location where your Backup got saved.

Step 3: Rename backup file

Now, you should rename this backup file for easy accessibility. Well, it’s optional to do so. If you opt for it, you can go to msgstore.db.crypt12 from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12. Don’t change its crypt extension number.

Step 4: Reinstall WhatsApp

If you have WhatsApp already installed, simply uninstall and reinstall it via Google Play Store.

Step 5: Start Restore

After you’re over with reinstalling WhatsApp, simply verify your contact details, as was the case in Google Drive backup process. The app will take just a few seconds to determine if any existing backups are available. Click the Restore button and wait some time to get all the data retrieved back from saved files.

Hopefully, you got our words on how to restore WhatsApp Backup without uninstalling Android and its impossible application.

Use iCloud Backup to restore WhatsApp Backup iPhone

To use it, you must know the following points first.

  • • First of all, you should see that iCloud backup already exists by going through WhatsApp> Settings> Chat> Chat Backup.
  • • Check the performance of the last Backup. Then, uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp from App Store.
  • • Simply follow on-screen prompts after verifying the contact number. In this way, you can restore chat history.

Note: Go through the following points before you go and restore chat history via iCloud.

  • • First of all, sign in with Apple ID, access iCloud, and turn on iCloud Drive.
  • • Then, you must have enough space on both your iPhone and iCloud. It should be almost 2.05 times the iCloud account than Backup’s actual size.
  • • You must use the same phone number for both restoration and Backup because you cannot use another WhatsApp account.

So, this is all on how to restore WhatsApp Backup without uninstalling iPhone and its impractical scenario.

Part 2: Restore WhatsApp backup without uninstalling with MobileTrans – WhatsApp Transfer

We have already mentioned an efficient alternative with easy steps. That alternative method is, of course, MobileTrans – WhatsApp Transfer. Simply go through stages as follows.

If you see the following window, you can easily backup WhatsApp messages to the local storage of the Android phone.

Go to your Android device, log in to WhatsApp and restore its data from internal storage as shown below.

How I transferred chats from WhatsApp to Telegram without breaking anything

Updated : Telegram has a built-in function to transfer chats from WhatsApp. To use it:

  1. Open the WhatsApp chat you want to transfer.
  2. On Android, call the additional menu and select the option "More" - "Export chat". On iOS, you can simply swipe left.
  3. Select export to Telegram.
  4. Select a Telegram chat where you want to insert a WhatsApp conversation.

You can import personal and group chats. To transfer a personal chat, you need to be in each other's contacts with the interlocutor. Only the administrator of a group chat can transfer the contents of a group chat. You can also create a new group chat in Telegram if it didn't exist before.

Below is an alternative way to transfer chats from WhatsApp to Telegram. This was the only convenient option before the built-in function appeared in the messenger. But it's still relevant. For example, it can be used to transfer chats to Telegram from other messengers that export dialogs in TXT format.

If you've opened WhatsApp lately, you've probably come across a requirement to accept the new Terms and Privacy Policy. In short: phone number data, transaction details, mobile device information and IP addresses will now be shared with the social network. From February 8, 2021, you either use the messenger according to the new rules, or do not use it at all.

I don't like the way WhatsApp has chosen to process personal data. Therefore, my choice is not to use WhatsApp anymore. But there are a few chats that I would like to keep. Ideally, transfer to Telegram. But is it possible to do so?

Short answer: yes, but only text, no pictures or voice messages. Here is the result:

This is what a chat from WhatsApp to Telegram looks like

Now for the details.

There is a TLImporter project on GitHub. It allows you to transfer any chats to Telegram that are exported in TXT format. WhatsApp is just the right option.

TLImporter offers two options:

  • Transfer a WhatsApp conversation to Telegram Saved Messages.
  • Transferring a conversation from WhatsApp to the corresponding chat in Telegram.

I like the second option better, but I tested both methods - everything works.

TLImporter on GitHub

TLImporter has versions for WIndows and Linux. You will have to collect the file under macOS yourself.

Important: the duration of the import depends on the number of messages. The developer of TLImporter does not recommend using Telegram during data transfer.

The first way is to import the chat into "Favorites"

The main advantage of this method is that you do not need the consent of the interlocutor. You can simply export the chats you need from WhatsApp and drop them into saved messages in Telegram.

  1. Open the WhatsApp conversation you want to save.
  2. Call the additional menu, click "More" - "Export chat".
  3. Send the contents of the dialog to email or cloud storage. Choose any method, as long as the TXT file is on the computer.

Now you need to import the file into Telegram.

  1. Start TLImporter.
  2. Press Enter to proceed with the import.
  3. Specify the phone number for authorization in your Telegram account.
  4. Enter the code that will come to Telegram.
  5. Next, you will be asked if you want to transfer the 1:1 chat or keep it in Favorites. Type "N" to send the dialogue to "Favorites".
  6. Specify the path to the TXT file or simply drag and drop it into the TLImporter window.

    Save chat to Saved Messages

  7. Write your name as it appears in the exported WhatsApp file.
  8. Write the person's name as it appears in the exported WhatsApp file.
  9. Check the import settings and type "!C" to start the data transfer.
  10. Once the import is complete, press Enter to log out.

There are additional settings, but I managed with the standard ones

Here is the result:

This is how a chat from WhatsApp is displayed in the “Favorites” Telegram

It doesn’t look very good, there is no separation by interlocutors. But the main thing is that the contents of the dialogue will not disappear anywhere now.

The second way is to transfer the WhatsApp dialogue to a Telegram chat with the same person

The main difficulty of this method is that you will need the consent of the interlocutor. He must log in to TLImporter. Otherwise, you will not be able to add messages to the chat with him in Telegram.

The exported file from WhatsApp is the same. Changes will only be made on import.

  1. Start TLImporter.
  2. Enter the phone number and the sent code to log in with your Telegram account.
  3. When asked "Do you want to import a conversation using two users in a 1:1 format?" answer "Y".
  4. If you want a secret chat, enter "Y". If normal is sufficient, enter "N".
  5. Log in to TLImporter on behalf of the interlocutor - you need to specify his phone number and the code that Telegram will send.
  6. Specify the path to the file exported from WhatsApp.

This is a copy of the chat 1:1

  7. Write your name as it appears in the exported WhatsApp file.
  8. Write the person's name as it appears in the exported WhatsApp file.
  9. Check the import settings and type "!C" to start the data transfer.
  10. Once the import is complete, press Enter to log out.
