WhatsApp now has stickers: A look at how to make your own stickers, save favourites, how to send and everything else you need to know.
WhatsApp stickers were made available for everyone on Android and iOS last month. Since launch, stickers quickly became popular, especially during the festival season. In India, which is the largest user base for WhatsApp, more stickers in regional languages were circulated on the platform. The feature is open to third-party, which means developers from around the world can create and add stickers for WhatsApp.
In addition to the quirky sticker packs that WhatsApp offers, users can create their own personalised stickers as well. So they can have a custom sticker of say, their pet or themselves or anything else from their phone’s photo gallery. The Facebook-owned company is also looking to add search for stickers, a feature that was spotted on Android beta.
Let us take a look at how to make your own stickers and add to WhatsApp, how to send and everything else you need to know:

WhatsApp stickers: How to create your own stickers, add to WhatsApp
WhatsApp does not exactly let you create and add your own stickers, but third-party apps do. One such app is ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp’ that lets you turn any photo into a sticker. You can create stickers of photos from your phone’s gallery or Drive, Google Photos etc. So how to use this app? Let us take a look:
One such app is ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp’ that lets you turn any photo into a sticker.
The first step is to obviously download the ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp’ app, available on Google Play Store. Before you get started, there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly, you can create your own sticker pack with up to 30 stickers in one pack. Once the pack is added to WhatsApp, you can not edit or add stickers to it. So, for instance, if you have published a sticker pack with just five stickers in it, you can not add more stickers to the same pack. To do so, you will need to create a new sticker pack and add as a different one on WhatsApp.
• Open the ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp’ app and click on “Create a new sticker pack” option.
• Enter the sticker pack’s name and author.
• A new page that lets you add up to 30 custom stickers of your own will open. Do note that the icon on top will be the tray icon or the icon which will appear as an identifier for you sticker pack in WhatsApp.

• Finally, click on ‘Publish Sticker Pack’ option at the bottom right corner and confirm to publish.
• Once users publish sticker pack, it will automatically show up in WhatsApp and your sticker pack in the app will be identified with the tray icon.

• The recipients will be able to forward the stickers to their contacts.
WhatsApp stickers: Stickers search to roll out soon?
WhatsApp could add a search feature for stickers on Android and the feature is currently under development, according to a WABetaInfo report. Sticker search will reportedly let users search for individual stickers packs, similar to how search is available for emojis, GIFs etc.

A new lens icon will be added on the bottom left corner of the stickers tab, clicking on which will open the search bar. Here, users can search for individual sticker packs. The feature will make it easier to search for stickers, especially as WhatsApp intends to add more sticker packs in the coming months.
Create and Add Custom Stickers on WhatsApp (Android, iPhone)
WhatsApp has finally introduced stickers into their app, and the new feature is slowly rolling out to both iOS and Android users. Currently, WhatsApp’s native sticker collection is rather limited. But, the company is encouraging independent developers to bundle additional sticker packs through third-party iOS or Android apps.
So, if you’re looking for new stickers to use, other than the ones that WhatsApp already offers, you may be able to find some apps on the App Store or Google Play Store, which gives you access to additional sticker packs on WhatsApp.

And if you are a developer, you can refer to WhatsApp’s documentation and sample apps on GitHub, for creating your own WhatsApp sticker pack apps for iOS and Android.
Alternatively, if you want to add custom sticker packs on WhatsApp, but don’t want to create an app for it, or have limited coding knowledge, this article might help you with some workarounds for both iOS and Android.

How to create custom stickers for WhatsApp
In their documentation, WhatsApp has provided a number of requirements that one must meet in order to create stickers for WhatsApp.
- Each sticker is an image that has a transparent background.
- Stickers must be exactly 512×512 pixels.
- Each sticker must be less than 100 KB.
For your sticker art, you can either collect sticker-ready images in PNG and WEBP formats directly from the web or creating them manually in a photo editing app. Additionally, you also need at least three images in order to create a sticker pack on WhatsApp.
Though you can use either a computer or smartphone for this purpose, it is preferable to use a desktop app such as Photoshop for better accuracy with edge selection and other advanced editing requirements.

Note: The method we’re going to follow tries to automatically take care of most of WhatsApp’s sticker requirements; although, for best results, it is recommended that you follow these requirements as much as possible. For example, using an image that isn’t a “square” will likely distort your sticker while being imported into WhatsApp. Similarly, having a non-transparent background on a sticker may impact its aesthetic value.
Add custom stickers to WhatsApp on Android
Once you have images that are eligible for WhatsApp stickers, you need some apps in order to import them as stickers into WhatsApp.
Follow the steps below to import and use your custom stickers on WhatsApp:
- Download and install the latest version of Personal Stickers for WhatsApp, ES File Explorer and WhatsApp from Google Play on your Android Smartphone.
- Using ES File Explorer, place your custom sticker images in the default Download directory of your phone.
- Launch Personal Stickers for WhatsApp. It should automatically detect the sticker images in the Download folder and sort them into different sticker packs according to the available subfolders. If you want to create customized sticker packs, click on the Kebab menu icon on the top-right corner and select Create Sticker Pack. Select the stickers that you want to include in your sticker pack, provide a name for it, and tap on the tick mark on the top-right corner to confirm.
- Click on Add adjacent to each sticker pack to import them into WhatsApp.
Once the import is complete, you should find the newly added sticker packs in WhatsApp. In WhatsApp, open a chat, tap on the emoji icon in the bottom-left corner and select the Sticker tab. The newly imported stickers should be available for sending. Just tap on a particular sticker to send it to the chat. The selected sticker will be sent to the chosen contact or group.
The additional WhatsApp stickers added externally are stored locally on your phone and aren’t currently backed up on WhatsApp servers. If you log in to WhatsApp on a different device, you’ll lose access to all custom stickers.
Moreover, even if you just move the original sticker files out of the Download directory and place them in any other location, you’ll still lose access to those custom stickers.
Add custom stickers to WhatsApp on iPhone
Recently, there have been a bunch of sticker creator apps published on the App Store, which work with both WhatsApp and iMessage. These apps usually follow a similar pattern when it comes to usability and features.

In this demonstration, we’ll use an app called Sticker.ly, but other sticker maker apps should also follow similar steps.
- Download and install Sticker.ly from the App Store.
- Tap on the “+” button at the bottom to create a new sticker pack.
- Choose photos, text, or GIF from your library. If you want to create new stickers from your photos, choose the photos from your photo library that you want to convert to stickers. For individual photos, you can choose to remove the background manually or automatically.
- When the photo is processed, tap Next. Here, you can insert relevant tags and tap Save.
- If you create a new sticker pack by tapping on “+New Pack”, you need to fill in the details for the new pack and tap Save.
- You can similarly create and add more stickers to an existing pack by tapping the “Add” button adjacent to it. Your sticker will be added to the sticker pack.
To import your sticker pack to WhatsApp, tap on the Profile icon at the bottom right, select a particular sticker pack and tap the “Add to WhatsApp” button to import it in WhatsApp. You will be redirected to WhatsApp, where you’ll be prompted to save the new sticker pack. Click on Save to add it to your collection in WhatsApp.
Note: If you created a sticker pack with less than three stickers, the stickers won’t be accessible even if there is no error message at the time of import.
Likewise, Sticker Maker Meme Creator, Personal Sticker Maker and Sticker Maker for Messengers all have similar functionality.
Note: Even though all of the above apps include an editor to create transparent stickers, for best results and often higher accuracy, sticker creation is usually recommended on computers rather than mobile devices. You can create transparent PNG files as candidates for sticker packs, and then import them to Camera Roll on your iPhone.
The same sticker packs that you created for WhatsApp, can usually also be used in the Messages app. Just open an iMessage chat on your iPhone and scroll through the available iMessage apps, till you find one of the third-party sticker apps that you’ve installed. When you click on the same, the stickers or packs that you create using the particular app should also be available here.
So now you can create send custom stickers from both Android and iPhone. Let us know in the comments what sticker apps you enjoy using the most.

how to upload stickers to whatsapp, telegram, viber, instagram
Learn how to upload your own stickers to Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, Signal and Odnoklassniki in this article.
According to the technical requirements of messengers, stickers must be in png format with a transparent background, size 512x512 pixels. But there are some differences and nuances, which read on.
1. How to upload stickers to Telegram?
The number of active Telegram users has exceeded 700 million!!! Imagine the potential!
1) Telegram has a special bot that helps you upload personal static and animated stickers. To get started, find this bot @stickers
2) Type /newpack and enter the name of your future static sticker pack. To download animated stickers, you need the command /newanimated or /newvideo. You can read more about animated stickers in THIS ARTICLE.
Send the bot a picture or a tgs/webm file, then an emotion that matches it. In general, follow the instructions of the bot, everything is simple! Now your first sticker in the set is ready! The file for static stickers must be in PNG format with a transparent background. The image must fit into a 512×512 square (one side is 512 pixels, the other is 512 or less). Stickers should have a white outline and shadow (not necessary, it just looks better on different chat backgrounds for different users). Animated stickers have their own requirements that we take into account when creating a sticker, so just send the finished file, which we will send you as a result of the work.
Warning: Do not upload copyrighted images!
Then repeat this procedure (smiley picture). The maximum number of stickers in one set is 120 pieces.
3) Once you've finished adding stickers to your pack, send the /publish command to the bot and enter a short name for the pack (this name will be contained in the link that all your friends can then install this pack for themselves). The name must be written in Latin letters and must not be shorter than four characters.
4) Everything is ready! The bot will give you a link to your own sticker pack and you can share it with your friends by dropping a link to the whole set or by sending one sticker, by clicking on which everyone can add a full sticker pack to themselves.
5) Sticker pack can be edited: add new stickers, remove stickers, change the sequence of stickers in the set or attached emoticons. The bot will send you hints with commands to edit your sticker packs.
6) Statistics! You can track the statistics of downloading and using the sticker pack and stickers in Telegram using the bot. Just set the desired command from those suggested by the bot and analyze!
2. How to upload stickers to Viber?
1) Viber has a built-in feature to upload your own stickers. Each sticker pack can contain up to 24 stickers, and you can create up to 20 packs in total. In order to find it, see the sticker layout, at the very bottom right there will be a “+” icon. Click on it and you will be prompted to "Sticker Shop" and "Create Stickers", there you are!
2) By clicking on "Create stickers", you will see a screen with adding a sticker pack icon, name and description, as well as downloading the stickers themselves.
3) When you have downloaded all the pictures, click on the "Create sticker pack" command and it will be available to you! Send the sticker to your friends so they can add a sticker pack to themselves.
4) Viber also has the ability to edit the sticker pack. To do this, you will need to click on the pencil icon on the left and start adding new stickers or deleting previously downloaded ones!
5) Statistics! At the moment, this feature is not available, but the developers promised to consider this issue, so we are waiting for updates.
3.
How to upload stickers to WhatsApp?1) WhatsApp has recently added a built-in function to add personal stickers, only on the PC version. Unfortunately, as before, it is not possible to create entire sticker packs and edit them. We can collect our collections of stickers using the "Add to Favorites" function. Therefore, we use third-party applications from the Play store and Apple store to download stickers to WhatsApp, which are synchronized with the WhatsApp application.
2) To upload your own WhatsApp stickers, you need to find the application in the Play store and Apple store. Download and install. By the way, some apps also support the animated sticker format, which is converted from GIF format!
3) Next, you need to upload an icon for the sticker pack, stickers and name the sticker pack.
4) Click on the "Upload Stickers to WhatsApp" button.
5) Go to the WhatsApp application and look for the sticker icon! Now you can use and send your stickers to your friends. Unfortunately, your friends will not be able to quickly add the entire sticker pack to themselves. There are two options: either they will have to save each sticker separately to their “Favorites”, or download a third-party application and install it on their phone. What is not convenient at all and few people like it, and sometimes it does not even load the sticker pack that you wanted to download, such is the developers' bug. But we hopefully expect that WhatsApp will sooner or later add a feature to upload personal stickers inside its app.
6) You can edit stickers (add new ones and delete previously downloaded ones) only inside the same third-party application that you downloaded and installed on your phone when you created the sticker pack.
7) Statistics! Due to the fact that there is no built-in function for downloading stickers in WhatsApp, there is no way to see the download statistics of the sticker pack.
4.
How do I upload stickers to Signal?1) Signal is a rather primitive messenger. Some people and companies use it for security reasons. There is an opinion that communication in the Signal is the most secure, although we do not provide direct evidence. Signal has a built-in sticker pack download feature, but it works in a different way. The sticker pack is created in one fell swoop and cannot be edited. If in other messengers, sticker packs are tied to the profile that created and uploaded them, then in Signal everything is sent to the server without being tied to an account forever. So before uploading stickers to Signal, make sure that this is the final edition of stickers and their full desired number, otherwise you will have to create new and new packs.
2) One sticker pack in Signal can contain up to 200 stickers. As for the technical requirements, they are as follows:
- Static sticker must be a PNG or WebP file
- Animated sticker must be a separate APNG file. GIF files are not supported
— The maximum sticker size is 300 Kb (which is not at all good, especially in the case of animated stickers, BUT, alas, you can’t jump over your head, all the bumps are for the developers)
- Maximum animated sticker duration is 3 seconds
- Stickers resize to 512 x 512 pixels
- Assign 1 emoji to each sticker
- Maximum 200 stickers per pack
- Cover must be a 512 x 512 px PNG or WebP file (default is the first image in the sticker pack)
- Name
- Author
3) To create a sticker pack in Signal, open the Signal Desktop application and select File, Create/Upload Sticker Pack. Next, a new window will open where you need to drag your stickers, then click Next and proceed to assign emoji to each sticker, click Next, name the set, indicate the author and click Upload. All! — Your stickers have been sent to the server, and you have received a link to a new sticker pack. Enjoy!
5. How to upload stickers to Odnoklassniki?
1) Odnoklassniki also has a special bot that uploads your personal stickers to the social network. To start, click the link: https://ok.ru/group/55635426869331/messages/start/privet
You can upload stickers one by one or drop the ZIP archive, when finished adding, click the "Finish Adding" command. The bot will ask you how to name the set - enter a name and send it.
4) In order to start using your set, be sure to click the "Publish" button and it will immediately be added to your stickers. And also the bot will send a link where your friends can find the set!
5) Odnoklassniki has the ability to edit your stickers in a published set, this is also done using a bot.
6) Statistics! In order to see the statistics, you need to open a set of stickers on your computer (this is important, soon the developers will make it possible for phones as well) and there, in the upper left corner, under the name, it will be indicated who downloaded this set and how many people installed it.
So, we told you how you can add your stickers to Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp and Odnoklassniki. We hope this detailed article was useful for you!

How to create your own WhatsApp stickers
Denis Cherkashin —
At the end of October, the WhatsApp developers added the long-awaited support for stickers to the messenger applications. Until today, only pre-installed sets were available to users, and now everyone can create their own stickers directly on their smartphone.
Google Play now has a free Sticker Studio app that lets you turn any picture or photo into stickers that you can add to your own WhatsApp pack. Users can upload up to 10 sticker packs with 30 images each. The app is currently only available for Android, but will also be available for iOS devices at a later date.
In order to make a sticker yourself, you need to select the outline of a person or object in a photo uploaded to Sticker Studio. The resulting image will automatically be added to the set, from where it can be easily inserted into the chat.
