Pages that you manage may be in the classic Pages experience or the new Pages experience. The new Pages experience isn’t available for all Pages yet.

If you're an admin of 2 Facebook Pages, you may be able to merge them if:

How to Merge Two Facebook Accounts

Every so often, people ask us how to merge two or more Facebook accounts together. We tell them not to get their hopes up. The truth is, it's not possible to automatically merge Facebook accounts. However, there is a workaround.

While Facebook doesn't offer a way to auto-merge all of your friends, photos, status updates, check-ins, or other information, you can manually merge parts of your accounts. All it takes is a little preparation and patience. Unfortunately, you won't be able to migrate or re-create all of your data.

Step 1: Bulk Download Your Facebook Data

As a first step, we recommend you download your Facebook data in bulk. This procedure can take some time and the archive will serve as a minimal backup should you decide to deactivate or delete your account. Unfortunately, it won't be of great help in restoring any data, though.

Briefly, go to Settings and Security, select Your Facebook Information from the left sidebar, and click View next to where it says Download Your Information.

This will lead you to a page where you can download your information and get a copy of what you have shared on Facebook. To download all of your data, select All of my data from the Date Range option, choose a download Format, select Media Quality, and click Create File.

This is where you will need patience. Depending on how big your main and expanded archives are and how many other archives are in the queue, this can take some time. And with that, we mean a couple of hours.

Note that you must download all offered archives if you want to receive a full backup of your account.

Although your own photos are supposed to be included in the archive, you should still download your Facebook photos and videos separately. Not only is this procedure another backup, it is also a lot faster and might provide you with more options.

Step 2: Restore Your Friends

As mentioned above, you won't be able to restore or migrate all of your data and that includes your friends. You'll need to manually add friends to your new account. Unfortunately, it is not possible to export your Facebook friends to a third-party account and then re-import them to a new Facebook account.

However, you can import contacts from your smartphone. So if you have the contact details of most of your friends on accounts outside of Facebook, you can take a small shortcut:

  1. Open the Facebook app for Android or iOS.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner, head to Settings > Media and Contacts, and enable Continuous Contacts Upload.

2 Images

That will continuously upload contacts from your phone to Facebook and help you find your lost friends.

Step 3: Restore Your Facebook Account Data

Here comes the big letdown. There is no way to upload or otherwise import your archive to restore or transfer data from your old Facebook account to your new one. Whatever you want to restore, you have to do it (semi-)manually. Right now, the archive merely serves as a personal backup. Nothing more.

So what are your options? You can re-add your old friends as shown above, re-upload photos you downloaded from your old account, re-tag your friends in your photos, re-join groups you were a member of, re-add Facebook apps, manually re-do all of your personal settings, including general account and privacy settings.

We wish we had better news, but as previously mentioned, you cannot auto-merge two Facebook accounts or restore your data, so you're essentially starting from scratch.

What You Will Lose

You will lose a lot.

Your entire Timeline and News Feed history will be gone, including posts or photos you were tagged in, places you checked into, all the Likes you issued or received, or groups you were a member of, all your account and privacy settings, and any other records you accumulated over time.

Your photos and friends are really all you can take with you; everything else has to be re-created manually.

Step 4: Deactivate or Close Your Old Facebook Account

If you decide to deactivate or close your old Facebook account, be sure to add your new account as an admin to any Groups or Pages you manage. Otherwise, you will lose access to them.

Once you have taken care of admin roles, have downloaded all of your data, and are sure you want to completely remove your account, log into the Facebook account you want to close, and visit the Delete Account page to kick off the process.

We have previously explained how to delete your Facebook account if you need additional help doing so.

The Only Way to Merge Facebook Accounts

In conclusion, Facebook allows you to download an archive of your account. However, there is no matching system in place to restore your data, should the account get compromised. Which is disappointing.

Facebook never intended to provide a restore feature. Instead, the social network was legally forced to offer a way for users to download their data. As a result, users are left with nothing but half-baked solutions or awkward workarounds, should they desire to merge two accounts.

Perhaps it's time to consider bidding goodbye to Facebook forever?

Users often ask how to merge multiple Facebook accounts. In fact, there is no such possibility in the standard interface. However, there are workarounds. Unfortunately, the method proposed in the article will not allow you to transfer and recreate absolutely all your data. But it's better than nothing.

So what kind of association are we talking about? Suppose you have registered a Facebook account, which for some reason no longer suits you. We created a new account, but what about the content, likes, friends, comments and everything that is “acquired by overwork”?

Creating an archive

As a first step, I recommend using the standard function for creating and uploading an archive with account data. This procedure may take some time. In any case, the resulting archive will be useful to you if you suddenly decide to delete your account or lose access to it (unfortunately, Facebook can consider you a violator and block your account at any time).

To back up your data, go to Account Settings , tab General , button Download a copy of your Facebook information at the bottom.

This will take you to a page where you can download the information and get a copy of what you have shared on Facebook.

Now click on the button Start creating archive . In addition, you can also download extended archive from the corresponding link below. It is advisable to download both archives. The first is the data itself, the second is, as it were, the history of changing the account, which is also very useful.

Now you have to be patient. Depending on how long and how actively you have maintained your account, creating an archive can take a long time. Up to several hours.

The following window will be displayed on the screen. There is no need to look at it and wait for completion. When the operation is completed, you will receive an email notification, after which you will only have to download the prepared archive.

Restoring friends

As mentioned above, you will not be able to restore or transfer absolutely all your data, including your friends. You must manually add contacts to the new account. Unfortunately, Facebook does not yet have a function to export and import friends.

However, you can import contacts from accounts such as Skype or Gmail. So if you have the contact details of most of your friends outside of Facebook, then this is not such a problem. Go to your new Facebook account and import contacts from any service you like (even from a CSV file) using the standard function Invite Friends .

Be sure to read our longstanding article on How to Download Your Facebook Friends' Email Addresses. Using this method, you can easily upload the resulting CSV file and send invitations to everyone already in the new account.

What you will lose

Worst of all, there is no automatic import of the information you downloaded in the archive. The archive contains photographs, correspondence, videos, publications. But all this you will have to download and place on your new chronicle manually . Reconfigure privacy, re-post friends in photos, re-apply content access tokens, follow pages, and join groups. Because there will be no usual chronicle and news feed. Everything will have to be created from the archive "handles". And this is a huge piece of work for any active user.

Disable or delete old account?

If you decide to disable or delete your old Facebook account, then do not forget to add the new account to the administrators of all your pages and groups, if any. Otherwise, you will lose access to everything. In addition, the services and applications where you registered with your Facebook account will become unavailable. You will have to manually register / log in with a new account.

After you complete all the preparatory processes and make sure that you no longer need the old account and that no important services are tied to it, it is not listed anywhere else in the administrators, etc., you can safely send a request to delete the entire account.

How to delete an account and what is the difference between deactivation of and complete removal of , you can find out in the article Conversations on the topic: how to delete from Facebook?

Conclusion

Even though Facebook allows you to download your account archive, there is still no standard or good third-party solution for "moving" from one account to another.

If you have experience moving data, share your experience in the comments. What tools did you use, how long did it take to set up, how painless was the move?

How to merge two Facebook accounts

Social network users often ask how to add a Facebook account, is it possible to do this, and is it possible to merge two profiles into one. Below we consider these points from the standpoint of theory and practical application.

What the rules say

First, let's see if it's possible to have two accounts on Facebook. The company says that according to the rules of the social network, it is forbidden to have more than one personal profile. If the user wants to introduce a product, brand or company, he can use his personal account to create a new Facebook page and manage it further. It should be noted that Facebook accounts must be non-commercial in nature and provide individuals.

If you have two or more accounts, you can transfer information to one Facebook profile. How to do it right, we will consider at the end of the article. In addition, you can add another name (for example, maiden name) to an existing account. To do this, do the following:

    1. Enter your Facebook page and click on the Information item.
    2. Select the Information about you section.

    1. In the Other names section, enter the nickname or name given at birth.
    2. In the Name Type category, select an option.
    3. Please enter a different name.
    4. Select the Show at top of account check box to display a different name next to your full name at the top of your profile.
    5. Click the Save button.

Although it is not possible to officially add a Facebook account, unofficially this work can be done by creating a profile under a fictitious name.

How to create an additional Facebook profile

If necessary, Facebook users can add multiple accounts. At the same time, the name and surname must differ in at least one letter. To solve the problem, you will need an alternative mailbox or a different phone number. The algorithm of actions for solving the problem is as follows:

      1. Go to the Facebook website.
      2. On the main page, write a different first and last name, e-mail address (will be used as a login), and also create a password. Next, enter your date of birth. Alternatively, you can slightly change the month, date, or year. In the last step, choose a gender.

      1. Click the Register button.
      2. Please wait until you are sent to the verification page.
      3. Go to the mailbox where the email from the social network should arrive.
      4. Find the code or link in the shipment to go and activate. To add a new Facebook account, select any of the options.

You can add any number of Facebook accounts this way. The difficulty is that all personal data will be slightly different. In addition, each profile will require an individual e-mail and phone number.

It is important that the new information matches as little as possible with the main account. If company representatives suspect something is wrong, all Facebook accounts can be blocked. Also note that when using a phone number for registration, it must be working, because it receives a message with information about activating the service.

      Merging Facebook accounts

Social network users often ask how to merge two Facebook accounts. Here again we come to the rules that are established by the system. Under current requirements, it is forbidden to have more than one personal profile, so combining them is prohibited. But there is an alternative option - manually switching to one Facebook profile while saving the most important data.

If you previously decided to add a Facebook account, but now you don't need it, close it. Take the following steps:

      1. Download the data added to the profile that you want to keep.
      2. When managing groups or pages, add an account as a group or page administrator.
      3. Delete the extra Facebook account after transferring the necessary information.

The situation is different if the user decides to add two or more pages linked to a social network account. In this case, the groups can be combined under the following conditions:

      • groups have the same theme;
      • you are the administrator of both pages;
      • groups have identical names;
      • pages have the same address (location).

Before you add a page merge request, make sure your existing campaigns do not specify the group to be removed. Follow these steps to merge:

      1. Go to facebook.com/pages/merge.
      2. Select the pair of pages to merge.
      3. Click the Continue button.
      4. Click the Request Merge button.

If there are difficulties with the unification, then it is theoretically impossible to do this. If you see the option to request, it means that the request will be considered. Other related information is merged along with the pages - likes, number of visits, etc. Please note that reviews, photos, content, ratings, and your name will be removed from the deleted page. The second Facebook page remains unchanged.

      Totals

In conclusion, we note that Facebook does not allow you to have more than one personal account, but adding an account with a fictitious name is not difficult. But you need to be careful not to get blocked on all profiles. As for the merge, this step is officially only available for Facebook pages.

How to merge pages on Facebook

Facebook publics have long been one of the favorite mouthpieces of business companies. Broadcasting news to customers, expanding the audience with the help of Facebook Pages is really simple and effective. Not everything, of course, goes smoothly, and some admins have a question about how to merge pages on Facebook to get rid of duplicates. Few people know that such a function exists at all, and in this article we will talk about it in more detail.

Why is this and how does it work?

The situation with duplicates does not occur very often. Usually, business pages are duplicated for the reason that the administrator, who previously created a separate public, converts a business account into a Page. As a result, he gets two communities tied to the same business and specifically confusing visitors. The dispersion of the audience leads to a decrease in the interest of potential customers and, in general, the effectiveness of the project. To avoid this, Facebook offers to simply merge repeating communities.

Actually, at the output you get one public, which you consider the main one, with translated subscribers and "likes" of the second public. By the way, it will be completely removed.

Alas, not everything is as easy as it might seem. For the feature to work, you must meet several conditions:

      • You administer both Pages;
      • Communities have exactly the same names and themes;
      • The same address is provided if the business company has its own office/location.

i.e. it turns out that it is impossible to get rid of competing copies of your public, even if they are fake. Merging is only possible if you have administration rights in both communities.
