How to update WhatsApp on an iPhone

1. Tap the App Store icon on your iPhone's home screen to open it. 

2. Tap the small person-shaped icon in the upper-right hand corner of the screen to open your account info.

3. Scroll down until you find the "Available Updates" section. 

4. Locate WhatsApp in the list and tap "Update" to install the latest version. 

How to update WhatsApp on an Android

1. Tap the Google Play Store icon on your Android's home screen. 

2. Tap the three horizontally stacked lines. 

3. Tap "My apps & games." 

4. Next to WhatsApp, tap "Update" to install the latest version. 

It should be noted that if WhatsApp doesn't appear in the "Available Updates" section on your iPhone or lacks an "Update" button next to the listing on Android, this is because you already have the latest version installed and no new updates are currently available.

How to update WhatsApp on Android to the latest version

There are two ways through which you can update WhatsApp on Android. Have a look:

Step 1: Open your Android phone and go to Play Store.

Step 2: After that, tap on Menu option (three horizontal lines).

Step 3: From the given options select My apps & games.

Step 4: A new page will appear, here tap UPDATE next to WhatsApp Messenger.

Note: Alternatively, you can update WhatsApp on Android by visiting Play Store. You just have to search for WhatsApp in Play Store and tap UPDATE under WhatsApp Messenger. Like android iPhone also has two ways through which you can update WhatsApp, follow the below steps.

How to update WhatsApp on iPhone to the latest version

Step 1: Open your iPhone and go to the App Store.

Step 2: After that, you need to tap on Updates.

Step 3: On the new page you need to tap on UPDATE next to WhatsApp Messenger.

Alternatively, you can update WhatsApp through App Store. For that, you have to visit the App Store and search for WhatsApp. On the new page, tap on UPDATE next to WhatsApp Messenger.

How to update WhatsApp on Android: step by step instructions

If you have an older version of WhatsApp installed, you will not be able to make or receive calls, receive or send messages. To use the messenger, you need to update it.

On Android, this happens automatically if there is enough free space on the device and you have not previously disabled this feature. If WhatsApp has not updated itself, then we will tell you how to do it manually.

Update through the Play Store

Since you can update whatsapp on Android through the Play Store in different ways, we recommend doing it step by step in the following order:

Step 1 . Launch the Play Store application and on the main screen of the application, click on the button "Show more" (located in the search bar), or swipe to the right.

Step 2 . In the menu that opens, select item "My applications and games" .

Step 3 . Go to tab "Updates" .

Step 4 . Find "WhatsApp Messenger" in the list and click on it.

Step 5 . The main page of the application will open with detailed information. Click Update to start downloading the latest version.

Step 6 . If there is not enough free space on the device, then you will be prompted to remove other applications from the list. Select what you don't want and press "Continue" .

Please note : If you don't have enough space on your device, but you don't want to delete apps, try getting rid of unnecessary media files (for example, photos, music) or transfer them to the cloud storage.

Step 7 . On the WhatsApp page in the Play Store, click on the button "Show more" (in the upper right corner) and turn on "Auto-update" so that you do not need to manually update the application in the future.

You will be able to use WhatsApp as soon as the update is downloaded to your phone. As a rule, its installation takes no more than one minute (the exact time depends on the speed of the Internet connection).

Reinstalling the application

If you cannot update WhatsApp on Android due to an error or other unforeseen problems, then just try to reinstall the application through the Play Store. So the latest version of the messenger will be downloaded to the device immediately. How to download updated WhatsApp:

Step 1 . Launch the Play Store and enter "WhatsApp Messenger" in the search bar to go to the main page of the application.

Attention : before uninstalling the application, be sure to enable data backup in the settings if you want to save the history of correspondence and the call log.

Step 2 . Click on the button "Delete" to start uninstalling the messenger.

Step 3 . In the pop-up window, click "OK" to confirm the action and wait for the deletion to complete.

Step 4 . Without leaving the page, click "Install" to download the messenger for free.
