Create a Facebook Account without Phone Number and Email Address

Facebook is still as popular as ever, being a big player in the social media space and enjoyed by millions all throughout the world. However, the recent Facebook privacy issue is causing hesitation among even its power users. “Should I really be giving my Email Address to Facebook?” Or, “Should I really be giving my Mobile Number to Facebook?” might be some of the questions that you might ask, and we don’t blame you – nobody wants their identity compromised.

But you don’t necessarily need to provide your personal information to create a Facebook account. You can, in fact, create a Facebook account without an Email address at all! That is, you won’t be providing your personal email address. And with Facebook asking for a phone number as an alternative to an email address, there is also a way to create a Facebook account without a mobile number.

There are tricks as to how to do these and here they are:

How to create a Facebook Account without an Email Address

Email addresses. Almost everyone has one. But if in the off-chance that you don’t have an email address or you’re not willing to give your email address out, you can instead create a temporary email address. A temporary email address or disposable email address basically allows you to have an email address for a limited time (10-15 minutes). After the time frame, it will be discarded by the email provider and will inaccessible to you. There are some providers that allow you to make your email permanent, but ten to fifteen minutes is enough to get passed the confirmation sent by Facebook to finalize your Facebook account. Let’s see how we can create a Facebook account without an email address!

1. Select one of the many temporary email providers (making one is free, by the way)

2. Create an email address with them, usually, upon visiting the website it will provide you with an email address straight away. You might also need to click on a button that says “Generate”. 
3. Use the email address to create a Facebook account. For heightened privacy, you can go on “incognito mode” on your browser. 
4. After signing up, Facebook will ask you for the code that was sent to your email address. Go back to your temporary email address and you should be able to see the confirmation email.
5. Type the confirmation email on Facebook. 
6. You now created a Facebook account without an email address!

How to create a Facebook Account without a Mobile Number

You can go an alternative route and create a Facebook account without a phone number, but you’ll need to use a disposable phone number. Disposable phone numbers do have the same function as disposable email addresses in that you don’t own these numbers but you can use them to sign up to untrusted websites and receive SMS on them.

Unlike temporary email addresses, where a single email address is yours alone, disposable phone numbers are shared by multiple persons. When using this service, you might see messages coming from other websites that the other users have signed up to. Meaning to say, if the phone number that you’re using has already been used by someone else to sign up for Facebook, you’ll have to look for another one. However, these phone numbers are refreshed every couple of days (or every month) so you can try to beat everyone to the punch once the provider has generated a new set of phone numbers. With that said, let’s see how we can create a Facebook account without a phone number!

1. Go to a temporary mobile number provider such as SMSRecieveFree (https://smsreceivefree.com/)
2. For SMSReceiveFree, you’ll need to select a country. You can select either the US or Canada for the numbers. 
3. You’ll need to select the phone number you’ll be using. There are only preset numbers, you cannot create another number.
4. Once you’ve selected the number that you’d like, you’ll be brought to a screen showing the Phone number and the messages that the number has received (remember that the mobile number is shared with multiple people) 
5. Go to Facebook and use the phone number to sign up
6. Viola! You now have created a Facebook account without a mobile number.

Using these steps, you’ll be able to take control of your privacy and protect your personal information – not just on Facebook but on every other website right now. Especially in this day and age, there are a lot of people – fraudsters and cybercriminals – that would really like to get a hold of all of the information that they can get. If you don't have two-factor authentication set up, you'll just need to enter your password.

3. Next to Recovery Codes at the bottom of the screen, tap Settings and then Get Codes. If you already have codes, click Manage -> Show Codes. What matters is that you copy, take a screenshot, or write down the ten codes that appear. Each code can only be used once, then it can be replaced by following the same steps and clicking "Get New Codes".

When you lose your code generator, these recovery codes ensure that you can quickly and safely regain access to your account.

Why do you need a Facebook verification code?

You must enable two-factor authentication Facebook Two-Factor Authentication . Without two-factor authentication, you only need your username or email address and password to log into your Facebook account.

By enabling Facebook two-factor authentication, you've added an extra layer of security. Whenever you try to sign in to Facebook from a new location or device, Facebook will ask you to enter a security or verification code to complete the sign-in.

Where can you find the Facebook verification code?

You can get your Facebook login code in three different ways:

1. Facebook can send a verification code to the mobile phone number associated with your account.
2. From an authentication app such as Duo or Google Authenticator. In addition, the Facebook mobile app includes a code generator that automatically generates a new security code every 30 or 60 seconds.
3. From the list of Facebook recovery codes you downloaded as a backup.

In addition to codes, you can also create a physical 2-factor security key to log in to Facebook via USB or NFC.

Since two of the methods above are mobile device specific, make sure you have at least one other way to re-login to Facebook in case you lose your device.

How to set up Facebook two-factor authentication

To enable two-factor authentication, open Facebook in your browser, click the arrow in the upper right corner to expand the navigation menu, and go to Settings > Security & Login > Use Two-Factor Authentication authentication" .

Click Edit and on the next screen click Start . Then select the method you want to use for Facebook two-factor authentication. You can proceed with text message or third party authentication app . Make your choice and press Next .

We selected the Text Message option and entered the 6-digit code that Facebook sent to our mobile number.

After entering the Facebook verification code, click " Done", to complete the initial setup. Now you can add an authentication app, save recovery codes, and create a security key. You should also assign a phone number that Facebook can use to send you a login code.

If you need to disable two-factor authentication temporarily, just click Disable on the Facebook 2fa settings page and you will be able to log in using your basic login credentials.

How to access the Facebook code generator

The code generator is a convenient way to access two-factor authentication codes without a mobile phone number. The tool comes in handy when you travel or don't have mobile reception. The code generator is available on the Facebook app for iOS and Android. The Windows Store app mimics the Facebook website and does not include a Code Generator.

To access the Facebook Code Generator from Android or iOS, open Facebook app , click hamburger icon in the top right corner, scroll down, expand Settings & Privacy menu and select Code Generator . Here you will see how the tool triggers new security codes every 30 or 60 seconds.

Lost your phone and can't use the code generator?

When you set up your phone as a key to your Facebook account, loss or damage can be a problem. Here's what you can do to prepare for a Facebook disaster.

1. Have Facebook send you a verification code

Do you still have access to the mobile phone number you identified with two-factor authentication? In this case, have Facebook send you a verification code. Unfortunately, Facebook can only use this one number for two-factor authentication, even if you've set up other phone numbers in your profile.

On the screen that asks you for a login code, select Need another authentication method? in the bottom left corner, then click " Enter me the login code" and wait for the text to be entered. You can also let Facebook call you.

2. Use saved recovery codes

After you set up two-factor authentication, you had the option to save a set of recovery codes as a backup. Perhaps you printed out the code, took a screenshot, or wrote it down and saved it in a safe place.

If you haven't saved your recovery codes, be sure to do so as soon as you regain access to your account. If you ever lose access to the Code Generator again, you can use one of these codes to sign in to Facebook from a new device or location.

3. Confirm login from authorized device

Whenever you successfully log in to Facebook from a new device, app, or browser, Facebook asks you if you want to remember it. You won't need a login code the next time you want to access Facebook from that authorized device and location. Now that you can't access the Code Generator, it could be your personal backdoor on your Facebook account.

Try accessing Facebook from the browser or app you were previously using. You may still be using an old laptop, work computer, or tablet. When you find a device where you can still access Facebook, you should see a notification asking you to approve the new login.

None of these worked? Send a request to Facebook.

Were you able to log into Facebook again? Don't forget to save your recovery codes, set up a new authentication app, and update your other recovery options.

Have you lost your mobile device?

To prevent access to your Facebook account from a lost phone or laptop - in case you have not logged out of the application - log out of the Facebook application. If you have registered your phone number, go to Facebook > Settings > Mobile phone > Lost your phone? and press the Sign out on phone button.

At the moment, you must delete lost phone number.

If you lost a device other than your phone or didn't provide your mobile number, here's another way to end your Facebook session

Go to Facebook (on a recognized device) > Settings > Security and login > Where you are logged in , find the appropriate session and Log out . If in doubt, complete a few sessions. This will allow you to exit the application.

Until you return your phone or you can set up the code generator on your new phone, you can save the backup code pack as described above.
