  1. Open the Instagram website in the browser of your choice, then sign in to your account if not already done.
  2. Right-click your Profile icon in the screen’s top-right corner, then select Profile from the menu.
  3. Click on the Edit Profile button.
  4. Choose the Privacy and Security option from the pop-up menu on the left of the screen.
  5. Scroll through the menu and locate the Data Download section. Click on the option beneath this header called Request Download.
  6. Enter your email address in the text box and choose your download format (HTML or JSON), then click on Next.
  7. Verify your identity by entering your password and clicking Request Download.
  8. Instagram then sends a link that takes you to the data files you requested.
  9. Check your email and find the message from Instagram with the subject, “Your Instagram information”. Click on the button labeled Download information.
  10. The link takes you back to Instagram to download your data. Enter your login credentials, then click on Log In.
  11. A page loads, giving you the link to obtain your data. Click on Download information.

  13. For the HTML option, go to messages -> inbox -> [named folder], then click on the message.html file. For the JSON option, skip to Step 15.

    But for video recordings, this method is not suitable and the owner can send a clip no longer than 30 seconds, recorded via Direct:

    1. Enter the selected chat - click on the icon: "Record".
    2. Hold down the button: "Start" - make a video recording.
    3. Send to the other party.

    When creating a picture in this way, you can select the mode: "Disappearing Photo". It can only be opened once, and when viewed from above, an icon showing the time will appear. If the recipient takes a screenshot, the sender will receive a notification.

    The last option on how to share a photo or video is to use the button: "Submit", which is located under each publication.

    There is no standard way to return messages that were deleted by the account owner himself. For Android owners, there is one option on how to recover emails.

    Using the ChatSave application, the user can save notifications and restore them.

    How to restore chat on Instagram* using the utility:

    1. Go to the Play Market, download - open.
    2. Select the social network where you want to save messages.
    3. Confirm actions.

    But the utility does not restore notifications that were sent before installation. That is, the process of saving conversations is activated immediately after ChatSave. And while it works, you can return letters at any time.

    Before each visit to Instagram*, you need to run the utility so that it starts the copying process. Even if the message is deleted by the interlocutor or he cancels sending, the application will create a copy.

    On an iPhone

    For an iOS device, deleting a conversation on Instagram* means that there is no way to restore notifications in any way. But there is one option on how to return the lost data - write to the interlocutor to send a copy.

    It is not possible to cancel the full cleaning and the owner will be able to restore it only if SaveChat is installed. It will not work to remove all correspondence, but by clicking on each one, you can even clear chats that lasted several years.

    Hidden messages feature: how to find

    Hidden messages are available in the settings of each chat. These are notifications that are available either for 6 hours, or until one of the interlocutors makes a swipe up.

    There are two ways to turn it on:

    • swipe up. The disappearing messages menu itself will appear, the background will darken;
    • go to the chat settings.

    How to switch to disappearing messages:

    1. In Direct, select the desired chat - click on the username.
    2. The function list - Disappearing messages will appear.
    3. Enable and save.

    In this mode, all sent emails will be deleted as soon as the owner closes the chat or disables the feature. To turn it off, you need to swipe up again or go to the settings.

    Messages cannot be restored after the function is disabled. Unlike the use of third-party applications, such notifications will not be saved. Access to the correspondence remains for 6 hours until the owner looks. And if he does not have time to view the letter, it will be automatically deleted.

    Fake Chat on Instagram*

    Fake Chat can be used for a variety of purposes, including creating funny pictures.

    Users are offered two options for how to make a fake chat on Instagram*:

    • third party applications. The user writes a notification for the interlocutors and sends them at a certain time;
    • by creating another page.

    A second Instagram profile* is not allowed and the profile owner can manage multiple accounts at the same time.

    Using Fake Chat Utilities, you can create interesting dialogues and play the role of two people at once. The user needs to install, select a chat topic and set a name for the first and second participants. Next, send messages on their behalf, but try to keep the time between sending.

    1. Go to the Play Market, download and install Funsta - open.
    2. Click on the icon below: "+" - Create a contact.
    3. Go to chat creation - send messages from both sides.

    In a video chat, if you minimize the application, a small window will appear on the smartphone screen below, where the interlocutor will be displayed. By pulling the edges, you can expand the screen. Using the button: "Main camera", switching between modes is available.

    How to use video communication:

    1. Go to Direct - click on any chat.
    2. Camera icon at the top - send a request.
    3. Wait for a friend to connect.

    If you want to chat with multiple participants:

    1. In Direct, select the function: “Rooms”.
    2. Invite some friends and wait for everyone to connect.

    During such communication, you can mute the microphone or temporarily disable the camera. In this case, the other user will be active: his camera will not be blocked. In this mode, you can connect other participants: click on the button below: "Invite".
