Expanding Sharing Links in Stories to Everyone
By

October 27, 2021
Today, we’re expanding the ability to add links in Stories to all accounts. Over the years, businesses, creators and change-makers have shown how sharing resources and information can inspire their communities. From organizing and educating around equity, social justice and mental well-being to showcasing new product drops to customers, link sharing is helpful in many ways — so now we're giving access to everyone.
Equity, Expression and Enablement
When we first introduced Stories links, the feature was limited to verified accounts or those with a certain number of followers. We’ve heard from the rest of our community that they also want to share things that matter with their friends and family. Whatever you’re into, from cooking to volunteering or shopping, you now have a space to share in Stories — regardless of your account size.
We continue to be inspired by the change-makers on our platform and those who want to turn their passion into a living by sharing links. We recently introduced new ways for creators and businesses to reach more fans, engage their community and grow their reach, and we aim to further support them with access to links.
How to Add Links to Your Stories
Use the Link sticker to add a link to your Instagram story. When people tap on the sticker, they’ll be redirected.
To add a Link sticker:
Capture or upload content to your story
Select the sticker tool from the top navigation bar
Tap the “Link” sticker to add your desired link and tap “Done”
Place the sticker on your story — like our other stickers — and tap on the sticker to see color variations
We’re also working on ways to customize the sticker so it’s clear what someone will see when they tap your link.
Keeping Instagram Safe
As part of our ongoing efforts to limit harmful content on Instagram, new accounts and accounts that repeatedly share things like hate speech and misinformation, or other content that violates our Community Guidelines will not have access to the Link sticker. To learn more about our rules, you can visit our Community Guidelines. To learn more about your account status and how to make an appeal if you think we’ve made a mistake (which happens), you can read our blog on helping you understand what’s going on with your account.

Instagram Stories links are now available to everyone – even accounts without 10K followers! Find out how to add links to stories now.
Published October 25, 2021
Following a major new update, all accounts (regardless of follower count) can now add links to Instagram Stories!
Previously, this feature was limited to accounts with over 10K followers.
Find out how to add links to Instagram Stories using the new link sticker below.
How to Post Links to Instagram Stories With the New Link Sticker (Without 10K Followers!)If you have a Business or Creator account on Instagram, you can now share links to any destination straight from your Instagram Stories – regardless of how many followers you have.
You can add links to your stories by using Instagram’s new clickable link sticker.
The new link sticker is much more visible, and can be added anywhere on a story. It also shows viewers the first part of the destination link (i.e. the domain), giving more transparency.
Here's how to add a link sticker on stories:
#1: Head to the Instagram Stories sticker tray and select the link sticker.
NOTE: If you don't have access to link stickers just yet, sit tight. Instagram only just made this announcement, so it may take a few days to see them in the lineup.
#2: Paste your link into the link field.
#3: Switch the text and color by tapping on the sticker.
It’s that easy!
PS: Did you know you can also add links to your Instagram feed posts with Later?
Linkin.bio by Later allows you to create a landing page with multiple buttons and a fully clickable version of your Instagram feed — that you can pop straight in your Instagram link in bio.
It’s like a mini website, but for your Instagram account.
You can set up Linkin.bio right now for free – no trials or credit card needed!
How to Drive More Traffic from Instagram Stories with Link StickersIf you really want to drive traffic from stories, it’s important to add a clear call-to-action.
This could be a verbal call out, some on-screen text, an animated GIF, or all of the above.
Viewers could take a while to get used to the new link stickers, so prompting your followers to follow your links can really boost your clicks (and sales!).
ICYMI: You can visually plan and schedule your Instagram Stories in advance with Later. You’ll get all your assets, links, and copy delivered straight to the Later mobile app when it’s time to publish, so you can share a story in two taps!

How to share a post on Instagram stories: reposting a post
Instagram has never had and most likely will not have a repost function, like in VK or Facebook. There are third-party applications, but all this does not look very beautiful. But there is a function to share in stories. This is an analogue of the repost button, only adjusted for the fact that you share the post you like not in your feed, but in History.
You can share posts in stories, a list of best friends or with someone individually by sending to Direct. The post that you decide to share can be supplemented and styled using all the features of Instagram Stories.

This feature will be useful when running contests on Instagram where you need to share a post. Also, you can use the repost in stories in order to draw attention to new publications.
