The latest Facebook user interface (UI) is a welcome change and an easy transition from old versions. Since the dark mode option is a popular choice for apps, it makes sense that Facebook would chime in on the feature.
Regardless of compatibility, each application or device has a different process for setting dark mode on Facebook and Messenger. This article walks you through the various methods based on the app and the operating system, such as Windows 10, macOS Catalina, Android 10+, and iOS 13+.
To turn on Dark Mode for Facebook in a Windows or macOS browser, do the following:
Note: When switching from light mode to dark mode on Facebook (while in a browser), the setting changes across the board. Every page, including Messenger, will feature the dark UI automatically. If you’re using a browser to access Facebook Messenger, you can follow the same steps listed above.
Some users may see an option to switch to the new Facebook. If you see this option, switch to the new Facebook, then you’ll see the option to enable dark mode.
As previously mentioned, Messenger apps in iOS and Android include the Dark Mode feature, and they have been present for quite a while. Facebook now released the Dark Mode setting to iOS and Android devices. As previously mentioned, the global dark mode setting on Android 10 or above (or iOS 13 and above) doesn’t change Facebook at all, at least not right now.
To turn on dark mode in the Android Facebook app, follow these simple steps:
If you’ve already updated your device’s settings to dark mode you can also select System. Choosing this setting means your Facebook app will turn to dark mode or light mode, depending on your Android settings.
Facebook Dark Mode is now available on iOS. Follow the steps below.
If you choose System, Facebook will mimic your phone’s settings (i.e., dark mode and light mode).
To enable the Dark Mode setting on the iOS Facebook Messenger app, use the following steps:
If you’re using Facebook Messenger on an Android device, simply follow these steps:
As of January 2022, dark mode is available on most Facebook platforms; this includes Facebook Lite.
If you’re a Facebook Lite or Messenger Lite user, it’s important to understand that Facebook Messenger Lite doesn’t have its own dark mode setting. This means that you will have to enable Dark Mode on Facebook Lite, and Messenger Lite will also switch to the darker setting.
Here’s how you can enable dark mode on the Lite version of Facebook and Messenger:
Dark Mode is still relatively new to Facebook fans. Although it is a fantastic feature, you may have more questions. Keep reading for the answers to the most frequently asked questions.
This was, at one time, the most popular question we received. Facebook slowly rolled out Dark Mode to select users and only on select devices.
Today, it should be available to everyone with the aforementioned devices. But, if you do not see the Dark Mode option, we need to dig a little deeper.
First, if you’re using the Facebook application for iOS or Android, verify that you’re running the latest version. This is important because it was a new update that presented Dark Mode to us. If it isn’t up-to-date, go ahead and update your app.
Next, if you’re using a web browser, you may be running an out-of-date version. When Dark Mode was first released, it was only available on the New Facebook. Tap on the arrow icon in the upper right-hand corner of Facebook and look for an option to switch to New Facebook. This option should not appear at all in 2021, but as we’ve said, if you’re somehow running an older version, you’ll need to switch to New Facebook before the option appears.
Most users prefer Dark Mode because it looks better. But, it has also been said that Dark Mode puts less strain on the eyes, and it doesn’t affect melatonin levels (meaning you can’t fall asleep after playing on your phone before bed.
)
Dark Mode also uses less battery life than the brighter alternative. Overall, Dark Mode is a popular feature for a good reason. However, some people prefer the standard interface, which is why you can always switch back if you’d like.
Back in May of 2021, users experienced an issue that caused the iOS and Android versions of Facebook to revert to their classic interfaces. Fortunately, this was a simple glitch that the Facebook developers resolved quickly. The solution was simple for users who experienced the problem: close or force close the Facebook application and re-open it.
If, for some reason, your Facebook reverts to the classic white background, close the app and open it. Of course, you may also need to update the app in the App Store or Google Play Store if the problem persists.

Have you ever wanted to jazz up your Facebook profile? While the social network does not allow themes, there are many utilities that let you add a theme to Facebook.
One of the better tools for doing this is My Facebook Theme.
In order to get the most out of My Facebook Theme, you actually have to install two extensions: My Facebook Theme and Facebook Theme Creator.
They are both by the same developer and work well with one another to give you the most pre-made themes, along with the ones you create yourself.
Once both are installed, you can open the extensions to either utilize a pre-made theme or create your own. There are a wide variety of pre-made themes to choose from. In other wordss, you have many options for adding a theme to Facebook.
You can open My Facebook Theme from Facebook with the handy little link added to your top toolbar.
My Facebook Theme’s biggest asset is being able to create your own theme. While this is a very simple theme maker, it can make a big impact depending on what you want to do and the time you have to be creative.
The first part of the Editor deals with the Background.
You can choose the color of the background or use an image. If you use an image, you can choose whether it scrolls or stretches across your Facebook page or how to tile it for the best fit possible. Then, you can choose the image position if you choose to center it or off-set it.
The second part of the Editor lets you change how the primary Facebook toolbar looks.
You can change its background color and link color.
The final part of the Editor lets you change the links, text and header colors of your Facebook feed and profile.
Depending on the type of changes you make and the background you use, you are given a lot of leeway in the color choices you make to get just the right match.
These changes, along with the pre-made themes you may end up using, will be utilized across all profiles and pages on Facebook.
My Facebook Theme also utilizes pre-made themes. These come in a variety of categories from cartoons to nature to holidays and more.
They are easily implemented by clicking “Install” on any theme.
If you want to uninstall a theme, go back to My Facebook Theme and click “Uninstall.” You are then free to install another pre-made theme or create your own.
You can also take a pre-made theme and make it more your own by customizing it with the “Build Your Own” option once you have installed it.
After you create your own theme, you can save it to My Facebook Theme by linking the two via Facebook.
You can then switch in and out of themes as you see fit but still keep the creations you have worked hard on.
You can also share the theme with others through social networks and if they use the extensions, they, too, can use it to theme their Facebook.
My Facebook Theme used to be available for Firefox but is no longer supported for the browser.
My Facebook Theme is a great way to customize your Facebook experience, especially if you are bored of the everyday look of the social network.
You can add a theme to Facebook by using pre-made themes, tinkering with them or creating your own which gives you creative control over what Facebook looks like.

In this guide, we'll show you how to enable dark mode on Facebook on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
As with most things in life, Android is a little behind Facebook's dark mode. Currently, Dark mode for Facebook on Android is only available in beta versions. Facebook applications.

Facebook is predominantly a web app, so the web version of Facebook tends to get new features earlier than the Android or iPhone versions of the apps. And Dark Mode for Facebook is no exception.
Enabling dark mode for Facebook on Mac and PC works exactly the same. All you have to do is go to Facebook > click the down arrow in the right corner > Settings > Enable dark mode
This will switch the browser version of Facebook to dark mode. Switching to dark mode for the browser version of Facebook will change ALL Facebook apps and features, including Facebook Messenger.
This means that once you have switched Facebook to dark mode in your browser, all of its apps will now show up in dark mode configuration - from Messenger to Facebook apps and games.
If you are using the Google Chrome browser and are familiar with Chrome Flags , you can use this flag (chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark) to force all sites you visit, including Facebook, to appear in dark mode.
Because Facebook for Android and iOS is NOT a web app, it is a native app designed specifically for iOS or Android, you have different feature sets for each version of the app.

For the most part, the Facebook app for iPhone is the most complete and up-to-date version. The Android Facebook app works fine, but it lacks some of the features found on the iPhone.
The most notable of these is the ability to switch Facebook Messenger to dark mode.
On iPhone, switching Facebook Messenger to dark mode is as easy as opening Facebook Messenger > Clicking on your profile picture > And then enabling dark mode.
On Android, everything is about the same. Just open Facebook Messenger > Click your profile picture > and then enable dark mode.
Your Messenger app will now display everything in black, including all of your discussions, emoji boxes, and search features. nine0005
If you followed the steps above and you don't see the Dark Mode option in your Facebook app settings, it means that the version of the app you're using doesn't support dark mode.
If you are using an iPhone, make sure you are using the latest version of Facebook. You can do this by going to App Store > Click on your profile icon > See all updates > If Facebook needs an update, click Update. nine0004
This should bring dark mode to the Facebook app on iPhone.
If you're using Android, dark mode doesn't work inside the app yet. It is said to be coming soon and some users have access to it, but the rollout is currently very slow.
The only sure way to get Dark Mode on the Android Facebook app is to download the beta version of the app - you can do it here .
nine0002 But remember: this is a beta version, so there may be bugs and problems. For this reason, my advice would be to just wait until Facebook officially launches it.RELATED CONTENT:

Design in dark colors for the interface of operating systems and individual applications is one of the most fashionable trends in the world of mobile devices. The response to this was the appearance of a dark theme on Facebook. After updating the social network, you can turn on the dark theme in the official application or “play” with the design of Facebook and Messenger using third-party applications.
In Facebook and Messenger settings there are not only dark, but also other colors. nine0005

In the official application on iOS night mode is set in the same way.
To switch to night mode in messenger for iOS, do the following:

That's interesting! Before the Facebook update, it was possible to put the social network into dark mode using the Cydia program. In this application, it was called Facebook Darkmode. The utility worked on "apple" operating systems from the 10th version. True, it was installed only after a jailbreak, that is, after the device was hacked. Therefore, the user had to seriously consider whether the dark theme on Facebook was worth such a painful procedure.

The official Facebook app for android only has a dark theme, but there are alternative apps that switch Facebook to other colors. In particular, it is Fella for Facebook. The application has a lot of social network settings that allow the user to customize it to their liking. Fella also removes ads, loads quite quickly and has a built-in video download function.
Also noteworthy is the Simple Pro For Facebook & More app. It combines under one cover, in addition to Facebook, also Instagram and Twitter. The program allows you to customize Facebook by 23 preset colors. If desired, a timer for turning on the night mode is set.
According to a significant number of users, the dark theme is good first of all because it saves battery life and makes it easier on the eyes. To what extent do these ideas correspond to what we have in reality? nine0005
In conventional LCD displays, the transmission of black color is carried out according to the same principle as any other colors. You can set custom solutions for different chats in Messenger like this:

Available options
It turns out that even before the introduction of the dark theme in the official versions of applications, the developers put an easter egg in the Facebook Messenger program, which the vast majority of users did not even know about.
