By India Today Web Desk: WhatsApp chats are end-to-end encrypted which means all your chats and data are safe. Now, during the Covid-19 Coronavirus lockdown, if your friends and family members have added you into too many groups which are of no use to you, then you can simply hide those groups.
WhatsApp provides you an option to hide your chat without deleting it. The feature is called Archive chats. Once you archive a chat, it hides from the main view. This means you can hide a conversation from your WhatsApp Chat screen and access it later if needed.

The archive chat feature allows you to hide an individual or group chat from your chats list to better organize your conversations. Here is a step by step guide you can follow to archive or unarchive WhatsApp chat or group using Android.

WhatsApp’s ability to instantly reach anyone around the globe has secured the messaging app's enduring popularity among mobile users. Some WhatsApp chats may be so important users may wish to safely save conversations. The good news is the Facebook-owned app has helpfully introduced a great feature to retain your cherished messages: WhatsApp Archive.
The WhatsApp Archive is not dissimilar to the features available on Gmail or Instagram.
Archive Chat allows you to hide a conversation from your Chats screen and access it later
Archiving a chat makes the chat disappear from the main WhatsApp window where the conversations appear.
Users can then unarchive and access the chat at any time.
WhatsApp users can archive individual and group chats, however, the entire chat threads need to be archived.

To archive a WhatsApp chat on Android phones, tap and hold the chat.
Then from the options that appear at the top, simply select the Archive icon.
To archive a chat on iPhone, swipe from right to left on the chat. Then tap on the Archive option.
While on WhatsApp Web, just hover your mouse curser over a chat, then click the down arrow and select Archive chat.

How to view archived chats on WhatsApp on iPhone:Begin by tapping Chats – the speech bubble icon at the bottom of the screen.
If WhatsApp opens to a conversation, first select the Back button in the screen’s top-left corner.
Next swipe down in the middle of the screen, which will open Archived Chats at the top of the screen.
If all of your conversations are archived, users will see Archived Chats at the bottom of the screen without needing to swipe down.
Selecting Archived Chats will display a list of your conversations already archived.
Finally, select a conversation. This will open it, allowing users to view the archived WhatsApp conversation.

How to view archived chats on WhatsApp on Android:Start by selecting Chats, found in the tab near the top of the screen.
If WhatsApp opens to a conversation, hit the Back button in your screen’s top-left corner.
Scroll to the bottom of your chat inbox, where you should see Archived Conversations.
If you do not see this option it means you do not have any archived chats.
Tapping Archived Conversations will display all your archived conversations.
Choosing the chat you wish to view will open the conversation and allow you to scroll through it.

Whatsapp is an application that we all actively use and thanks to which we save significant amounts on calls and SMS. Not surprisingly, the number of people who have downloaded it to their phones has already exceeded one billion. Today we will learn where the messages sent and received by us are stored, how to hide them from the screen, and also how you can view the archive in WhatsApp.
All messages received and sent using this service are exclusively on devices, and are deleted on the company's servers immediately after they reach the addressee. But what to do when there are too many chats on the screen? They can be archived, that is, temporarily hidden from the screen.
It's very easy to archive a WhatsApp chat. You can remove those chats that you do not use very often, as well as some group correspondence. Then, when necessary, you can view the archived chats and return them to the main page of the application again.
You should know that archiving in this case means only temporary hiding of correspondence with a person. In this way, you can neither save your correspondence as a backup copy, nor delete it.

Select the chat you want to hide and long press on it to bring up the menu at the top of the screen.

To hide all chats at once, go to the WhatsApp menu and select settings. After opening the "Chats" item, tap the "Chat History" line, then "Archive all chats".
