We’re honestly not sure. We understand it’s not an easy issue; sometimes non-automatable problems simply can’t be fixed at a large scale for consumers of free apps, but at the same time the much smaller slice of influencers and content creators with tens or hundreds of thousands of followers certainly deserve some attention. These Instagram users keep the masses using Instagram and drive Facebook’s stock price up and to the right. They deserve to have a better path for escalating support issues to Instagram.
How To Contact Instagram Support As A Normal UserIf you’re a normal Instagram user, it’s still possible to receive help, it’s just less likely. Your best bet is to submit a support request from Instagram.com. Follow the instructions below:
- Click through to Instagram.com
- Scroll down to bottom of Instagram.com and click Support
- In the left-hand menu, click Privacy and Safety Center
- Click Report Something
- Click on the type of issue you’re experiencing
- Look for a link that says report it
- Each issue has a unique form to fill out
As an influencer, you are likely to be targeted for attack. It will most likely be an attempt to take control of your account for monetization, or to steal your name, probably to sell it. If you hang out in the right Facebook groups, you’ll see posts daily from influencers looking for help reclaiming control of their accounts.
As we covered above, Instagram does not have an official escalation path specifically for influencers. Your escalation attempts through the standard channels are going to get lumped alongside the thousands of users with no profile picture and 0 followers submitting requests.
This means your best bet is through the murky unofficial channels. These consist of finding an individual with a contact at Instagram, most commonly a friend or a person who has had to engage with Instagram on behalf of their business, such as an employee at a large advertising partner.
If you’re reading this article, it’s likely you don’t have a friend who can help, so be prepared to spend some money. The lack of official support has created a gray market of employees providing unofficial Instagram support services for thousands of dollars depending on the task.
Depending on how much revenue the account generates, how important it is to your brand, and the amount of work put into building your audience, it can definitely still make sense to spend a lot to reclaim your account.

With more than one billion active users every month, it's easy to see how Instagram's customer service team might get overwhelmed. But unfortunately for users, this makes it so there's no way to speak with an actual customer service representative from Instagram. Instead, you'll have to use one of the automated methods.
You can open Instagram's Help Center to read troubleshooting guides that might help with your issue. And if you're trying to report a problem, you can shake your phone or open a post's options.

Instagram lets you report individual posts, specific users, and comments. Just go to any post, account, or comment, tap the three horizontal dots on it, and select "Report" from the drop-down menu.

Here's some of what Instagram sees as legitimate issues:
- Intellectual property: Issues that follow under this grievance include users infringing on copyright — which generally protects original expression like images and words but not facts and ideas — and trademarks, defined as a word, slogan, symbol, or design made to distinguish products or services from an individual, group or company.
- Nudity: Broadly defined as "appropriate imagery," this more controversial guideline prevents nudity of any kind on the site, with a handful of exceptions — including post-mastectomy scarring photos, individuals breastfeeding, and nudity in paintings and sculptures.
- Hate speech: The platform will remove any content from its site that displays "credible threats of violence," but also hate speech — based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or disease — as well as bullying and harassment that target private individuals.
- Illegal activities: Instagram will remove posts that offer specific services around sex, firearms, and drugs, in addition to removing posts or comments that "support or praise of terrorism, organized crime or hate groups."
- Self-injury: Any content posted to the platform that appears to glorify or encourage any type of physical self-injury, including eating disorders, will be taken down — with the exception of posts that reference these issues in the name of increasing awareness or signposting support.
- Graphic violence: Any videos or images featuring intense, graphic violence that isn't shared in relation to newsworthy events or to condemn or educate on a larger issue, will be removed for inappropriateness.
After you report a post, you might get an email telling you what decision Instagram's moderators made about it.
How to report bugs and glitches to Instagram
Instagram also accepts reports about issues with the app itself, like if a graphic isn't displaying correctly, or a menu won't open.
To quickly report a bug, shake your phone while Instagram is open. A pop-up should appear asking you to report the problem. You'll also be able to submit screenshots and other files.

The “Write” button on Instagram
This method of communication appears automatically when registering on the social network. If you are not eager to communicate, then Instagram does not allow you to turn off Direct completely, but you can turn off notifications. How to do it:
- Go to your Instagram page, click on the 3 horizontal bars at the top of the screen.
- "Settings" will appear at the bottom of the account. Choose them. Then click on "Notifications".
- We are interested in the "Messages in Direct" block. In this section, select only the actions you need (2 in total related to correspondence + 2 that allow you to add or not add you to communities).
If you don't want your contact details to be displayed in your account, go to "Edit Profile" and click on "Show on Profile". In this section, you can add or remove the display of contact information on Instagram, as well as the display of a category tag (profile view - a personal blog or art, for example).
How to add a "Write" button to Instagram

Instagram does not have offices, service centers and hotlines to call or come to them with your problem. Help can only be accessed through the Help Center website or the online mobile app.
If you have account access, use Instagram on your phone. If you have been blocked or hacked, then there are 3 ways:
- Ask your friend or relative to send a request to the administration on your behalf.
- Create another page on the social network and write from it.
- Access the Help Center site using a browser on your computer or phone.
Now let's look at the specific steps you need to take to contact support via phone and computer.
Mobile application
This is the surest way to get help from the administration of the social network. Open Instagram on your mobile device, go to your profile by clicking on the person in the menu and go to settings.

How to contact support if your account has been hacked
