How to View Your Liked and Saved Posts on Instagram
By Alvin Wanjala

Instagram has plenty of features beyond the standard news feed. If you want to view posts you've interacted with in the past, this guide is for you.
Instagram is a fantastic platform for following artists, influencers, musicians, and your friends. But from time to time, our views change—and we may want to unlike content we've previously double-tapped on.
Luckily, Instagram provides a useful way to find posts you've liked and bookmarked. Using these features, you can keep track of what interests you now—along with your tastes in the past.
Keep reading and we'll show you how to see posts you've liked and saved on Instagram.
Liked vs. Saved Posts on Instagram: What's the Difference?
On Instagram, you can "like" a post if you find it helpful and as a way to show appreciation to the poster. It might be an incredible piece of art, a place you'd like to add to your travel bucket list, a sumptuous meal, or anything else you find interesting.
Meanwhile, saving a post adds it to your bookmarks or collections. You can like an Instagram post and not necessarily save it. Likewise, you can save a post without "liking" it. In either case, Instagram keeps track of your actions. Both the "like" and bookmarking features can prove helpful later as you can see what posts you've liked in the past or those that you have saved on your account.
To keep track of your liked and saved posts, Instagram offers a way for you to see them by digging into different sections of your account. But remember: you can't see posts that were later deleted by a poster after liking or bookmarking.
How to See Your Previously Liked Posts on Instagram
By default, Instagram saves all your liked posts on your account. Here's how to check every Instagram post you've recently liked:
- On Android and iOS, go to your Instagram profile and tap on the three dots—also known as the hamburger menu.
- Tap Your activity from the popup menu that appears.
- Under Your activity page, select Interactions.
- Next, you'll be presented with different options including Comments, Likes, Story replies, Reviews, and Not interested. To view your liked posts, tap Likes. This will open a new page where all your liked posts are displayed in a grid-style view.

By default, liked posts are displayed in chronological order, but you can view old ones first by tapping Sort & filter to change the order or filter posts by Author, Start date, or End date. Besides sorting and filtering, the Likes page also offers a way for you to unlike multiple images at a go. Tap Select in the top right, select posts you'd like to unlike, and tap Unlike at the bottom.
Instagram will not show you all the posts you've liked from the beginning, however. At the time of writing, you can only see 300 of the most recent posts you've liked.
Another limitation is there's no built-in way to see posts you liked on Instagram via desktop.
Of course, one way to bypass this is by using an emulator like BlueStacks to run Android apps on PC and Mac. You can also use a Chrome extension like Layoutify, which unlocks several functionalities that lack on Instagram's web app.
But if you have a laptop or desktop computer, you most likely have a smartphone as well. Because of this, we advise just using the mobile app for a less complicated experience.
How to See Your Saved Instagram Posts
Instagram save feature allows you to keep exciting posts and videos for later reference. But where can you find these posts if you want to revisit them? Here's how:
- Tap on the hamburger menu.
- Select Saved from the popup menu that appears. This will take you directly to the posts you've privately saved on your account.

Thankfully, there's no limitation on the number of saved posts you can see. Due to this, your Saved section can get messy real quick. To stay organized, we recommend you organize your saved posts using Instagram Collections.
Finally, similar to "liked" posts, you cannot see your saved Instagram photos via desktop.
Keep Track of Your Liked and Saved Posts on Instagram
Posts you've liked and the bookmark feature on Instagram allow you to keep track of any interesting posts you've stumbled upon on the platform. The bookmark feature is a more private way of tracking interesting posts. Even better, the bookmark feature allows you to categorize any interesting posts in so-called collections.
Now that you know how to check posts you've liked and saved, you should embrace using the two as a way to keep track of interesting things you find on Instagram.
What Are Instagram Collections and How Do They Work?
By Maggie McCullough
Find out everything you need to know about Instagram Collections, including what they are, how they work, and why you should use them.
Have you ever been scrolling through Instagram and wished you could save something to come back to later? Maybe it's a video you want to show a friend you will be seeing later, or a clothing item you are considering buying in the future.
Instagram Collections allow you to save any Instagram post that may catch your eye, and organize them however you see fit. Here’s how you can save posts, organize them into collections, and even blog about them, all on the Instagram platform.
What Are Instagram Collections?
Instagram first introduced its bookmarking tool to its platform in December 2016. According to Instagram, talking to TechCrunch at the time, the tool was created for, "When you stumble upon a funny video you want to remember, a new outfit you like or even inspiration for an upcoming vacation. " This tool allows you to save those posts and keep track of them effectively.
In 2017, Instagram rebranded the bookmarking tool to Instagram Collections. With this rebranding, Instagram added organization capabilities. Instagram started allowing users to save posts into various folders they can create and name themselves.
This layout appears to rival the capabilities and purpose of Pinterest, which is also in the business of creating organized collections of posts, no matter what they may be. Instagram has found success in the past creating features that mirror or rival those of other platforms, a good example being Instagram Stories (mimicking Snapchat Stories).
How to Create a New Instagram Collection
- Find a post you would like to save to your new Collection.
- Press and hold the Bookmark button. Note that if you just press it without holding down, it will save to a general Collection.
2 Images
- Press the + button. This step will look slightly different depending on your experimentation with the Instagram Collections in the past. If you have created a Collection before, that Collection, or group of Collections, will appear on this next screen. If you have never interacted with Instagram Collections, pressing the + button will automatically prompt you to name the new Collection you would like this post to go into.
3 Images
- Title your new Collection and tap the Save button. No matter if your last step included pre-existing Collections or not, this step will look the same.

Once you have completed those steps, you have successfully created and titled a new Instagram Collection. From now on if there is a post you would like to add to your new Collection, it will pop up when you hold down the bookmarking tool. If you would like to access all of your Collections at once and review them as a whole, you can do so on your profile page.
How to View Your Instagram Collections
- Go to your profile page and click the three lines in the top-right corner.
2 Images
- Click on the Saved button. This will take you to a screen that shows you all the Collections you have ever created. The cover photo for your Collection will default to whatever the first photo was that you added to it. However, you can change the cover photo if you wish.

- Click on the Collection you wish to view.

On the Saved page you will notice you can also save items from Instagram Shopping to your Wishlist.
When they were first introduced in 2017, Instagram Collections sounded very similar in concept to Pinterest's Pinboards. The biggest difference being that they were not public, and they weren't helping users navigate where items from their saved items could be found online to purchase.
Instagram Collections today are still not as public as Pinterest, there being a whole extra step to post about a Collection. However, they now include that same shopping aspect that you can find on Pinterest.
Instagram started experimenting with shopping capabilities within Instagram back in 2016. It all started with products being linked to retailers’ websites within posts, and now, in 2022, Instagram has a whole tab dedicated to the Instagram Shop.
The Instagram Shop can now take you all the way through checkout and never have you leave the app. With these large strides of improvement to the Instagram Shop, using the wishlist from the Collections feature has become a key component to Instagram’s revenue stream.
How to Blog on Instagram Using Collections
- Return to your Saved page using the steps outlined above.
- Select a collection you would like to blog about.
- Tap the Create Guide button in the top-right corner. Clicking this will allow you to select each post you would like included in your Guide which will appear similarly to a blog post. Note that only public posts will be available to use within a Guide, so if you notice a few photos are missing during this step, it is most likely due to them being housed on a private account.
3 Images
- Click Next in the top-right corner. This will take you to a screen where you can edit your new Guide. You can change your cover photo, add titles and captions, and even add additional posts if you realize you are missing one.
3 Images
- Tap Next in the top-right corner once you are pleased with your post. This will take you to a preview page, and you can either save your Guide as a draft or post it.
2 Images
- Hit Share, and post your Guide to your feed. Your Guide will appear on your profile under a new tab especially dedicated for Guides.

Why Should You Use Instagram Collections?
Instagram Collections can be used for a variety of different reasons by any type of Instagram user. You can create vision boards, organize memories into albums, create wishlists, and even blog on the Instagram platform using the Guides feature.
Instagram Collections can be as private or as public as you want. You can choose to save posts to your Collections purely for your own organization, or you can create Guides where you can publicly blog about the posts you have saved, and share the experience with your followers.

This post will highlight some troubleshooting solutions to fix your Instagram app when the save button is not working or causing the app to crash. Also, if some of your saved messages are missing from your collection, below we have listed three (3) ways to restore them. Read more. nine0003
Save to Collection button not working
Saving a post to Instagram is very easy. Touch or press and hold the bookmark icon in the lower right corner of any message on your mobile device or PC. After that, the post will be saved to the private section of your profile or to the collection (if you created one).
Instagram save/bookmark icon
In some cases, you won't be able to save posts to your collection because the bookmark/save icon isn't working or not responding. I have experienced this a couple of times. Some users have even reported that the Instagram app sometimes crashes whenever they try to save a post or long press the Save to Collection button. If you ever run into the same issues on your IG, here's how to fix them. nine0003
Close and restart Instagram
Just close the Instagram app on your device (Android or iOS) to make the save button work again. This worked for me and some users found it to be an effective solution to the problem as well. Restart the app and you should now be able to save messages.
Restart your phone
If closing Instagram didn't solve the problem, try restarting your phone. This should help update the app, get it working properly, and can fix any issue causing the Instagram app to crash. nine0003
Clear Cache (for Android)
Deleting the cache data of the Instagram app can also fix the app crash. This will get rid of any old or corrupted data/files that prevent the Instagram app from saving posts to collections. It will also improve the app's performance and save space on your Android device.
To clear the cache of the Instagram app, open the Android Settings menu, go to Apps & Notifications > App Info > Instagram > Storage & Cache and click the Clear Cache button. nine0003
Launch Instagram after clearing the cache and see if you can now save messages.
iOS users can try a clean reinstall of the Instagram app.
Update Instagram
If other Instagram users can save posts to collections on their devices and you can't, you should update the Instagram app. It's possible that the Save to Collection button isn't working for you because you have an old or erroneous version of Instagram installed on your phone. Update Instagram and fix this issue. nine0003
Refresh Instagram (Android)
Refresh Instagram (iOS)
Saved posts not loading/disappeared
This is another common problem reported by many Instagram users. When too many posts are saved in an Instagram collection, older (previously saved) posts in the collection sometimes disappear. If this describes your current situation, check out the fixes below to get your saved posts back into your Instagram collection. nine0003
Update Instagram
Are you using the latest Instagram app on your smartphone? If it doesn't, update the app from your phone's app store and the missing saved messages should reappear in your collections.
Check Instagram website
If you still can't find your saved posts in your collection after updating the mobile app, you should sign in to your Instagram account on PC. The web version of Instagram is virtually bug-free and you should see all the posts saved in your collections. nine0003
Follow these steps to check for saved messages on the Instagram network.
Step 1: Log in to Instagram in your browser, enter your account information, and click Sign In.
Step 2: Then tap the profile icon in the top right corner of the main page.
Step 3: Go to the "Saved" section of your profile.
You should see all saved posts associated with your Instagram account. nine0003
Note: Saved posts are not (currently) grouped into collections on Instagram on the web.
Delete recently saved posts
Instagram does not delete your saved posts without your consent. However, keeping more messages in your collections can sometimes obscure older messages in that collection. Instagram doesn't officially say if there's a limit on the number of posts that can be saved (to a collection). However, some users have reported that when saving new messages, old messages were hidden in their collection. Interestingly, deleting a newly saved post restored the missing posts. nine0003
If the post you're looking for is extremely important, you can delete other not-so-important posts you've recently saved, and the missing posts should reappear in your collection. Here's how to delete a saved Instagram post on Android and iOS devices.
Step 1: Tap the profile icon in the lower right corner of the Instagram app.

Step 2: Tap the hamburger menu icon in the top right corner of your profile page. nine0003
