Highest-Paid Instagram Influencers

Facebook and Youtube are the most popular social network with billions of users worldwide followed by Instagram which has at least 1.4 billion users who spend an average of 29 minutes on the platform every day. This makes the network an excellent tool for brands to promote their products and services.

For this purpose, companies rely on the work of influencers with millions of followers on Instagram. Influencers promote the products and, in return, receive a good amount of money.

However, the number of followers isn't the only factor taken into account when pricing a post on the network. A well-used metric in the industry to analyze the real value delivered is the engagement or the number of followers who like and comment on each published post. Thus, it is possible to find profiles with a smaller number of followers, but with a higher amount charged per post.

Recently, Forbes India revealed the names of the top 10 highest paid Instagram influencers around the world on their Instagram page:

The culture of paying celebrities huge amounts of money to post content to their millions of followers has been heavily criticised.

Some say fans may change their behaviour or opinion based on the post's content, when the celebrity they idolise may only have been posting it for money.

Critics also say it gives young people unrealistic or unambitious career aspirations when they see the money that celebrities are making from posting.

But others think it is less of a problem in a celebrity culture industry that is already worth billions of pounds.
