How do i link my facebook posts to twitter

[Quick Tip] How Do I Share A Facebook Post To Twitter? - SocMedSean

Well, I kinda figured this was going to happen.

Last week, I responded to an email asking me how I post my tweets or tweets I liked to my Facebook page. It took off over the weekend, garnering a ton of tweets and retweets. So obviously it’s a social media tip that people have been thinking about.

To continue in this series of social media cross-promotion, I thought I’d go ahead and add a follow-up post that answers the question of “how do a share a Facebook post on Twitter?”

Evaluating The Process Of Sharing A Facebook Post To Twitter

The steps are fairly similar, but there are some additional privacy concerns that you need to be aware of when it comes to Facebook. With Twitter, a person can either set their tweets to be visible to the world or protected and only visible to those that are allowed to see them.

Want to share a Facebook post to your Twitter feed? Here are the steps to make it happen. Click To Tweet

It’s a binary choice of either unprotected or protected. If you share a tweet that is protected, users who aren’t authorized will see a message that the tweet is protected and allow them to request access to see all the person’s tweets.

Facebook, on the other hand, allows users a significantly broader set of privacy options. The creator of a post can set the privacy of a post to be as granular as only showing to themselves, to as expansive as showing it to the whole world. Between those binary options, there are a TON of different levels.

The reason I bring this up before going through the steps of sharing a Facebook post to Twitter is because you need to be aware that just because you share a post that YOU can see because you are friends with someone, doesn’t mean that the rest of the world will be able to see it.

NOTE: I have received quite a few questions about how to make someone else’s Facebook post shareable. The answer is, you can’t. If you are not the original poster of the content, you cannot control the privacy settings for the content. That means you cannot simply make someone else’s Facebook post shareable if they have restricted the privacy settings.

Instead, the creator of the post has to understand how to make a Facebook post shareable to the world. Only when they do that can you link Twitter to Facebook by sharing their post.

As an example, imagine that you are Facebook friends with Bobby. Bobby shares an amazing cat video that you just have to share with your Twitter friends. You share the link to Bobby’s post on Facebook, but when your Twitter friends click the link, they get an error that they have to log in to Facebook.

Facebook privacy settings on a post, image, or video might prohibit your Twitter followers from viewing the content.

If, once they login, they don’t have the permissions to view the post, they receive an error. Sad Panda.

The reason is likely because Bobby has chosen to set the permission on their post  to something like “only show their posts to their friends”. Because you are one of their friends on Facebook, you can see their post. The members of the Twitter-verse, with whom you shared the post, are not friends with Bobby so they get an error message instead.

So, while the details below will give you the step-by-step of posting a Facebook status to Twitter, be cognizant of the security issues that might arise. In the steps below, I’ll show you how to check the security before you even post, to see if it’s worth sharing.

ProTip: Facebook posts from Facebook pages, rather than individuals, are much more likely to be open to the public. Therefore, sharing a post from a Facebook page is less likely to run into the privacy restrictions than those that are posted by your friends.

Steps For Sharing A Facebook Post To Twitter

Step 1 – Find the Facebook post that you want to share

Start by finding the post you want to share. For this post, I’ll be sharing the link to the “Stinky Fish Challenge” video. If you haven’t watched it already, don’t watch it while you are eating lunch. TRUST ME.

Step 2 – View the individual post

Next, click the link to the date/time that the post was published. This will take you to the individual post, rather than showing it in your timeline or in the timeline of the Facebook page you are viewing.

Step 3 – Ensure the Facebook post is shareable

Before you share the post, check the privacy settings to see whether it is even shareable. If it’s highly restricted, meaning that the original poster has put privacy restrictions on it, it will probably just frustrate your Twitter followers, so stick to those posts that display a globe icon. This means that the post is visible to everyone.

TIP: If you notice that the privacy icon isn’t a globe, you might be wondering to yourself “how to I make the Facebook post shareable?” and, as I mentioned earlier, the answer is…you don’t. Only the original creator of the post can adjust the privacy settings of their post.

What you CAN do, though, is reach out to the owner of the post or just leave a comment on their post saying something like “please make this Facebook post shareable with the public so I can share it with the world”.

Sometimes it works and the content creator will adjust the Facebook privacy settings for the post to make it shareable, others times making the request doesn’t work because they want to keep their Facebook post private.

Step 4 – Copy the shareable Facebook URL to Twitter

If the privacy settings are okay, just select the URL in the browser and copy it. This give you a link that you can share from Facebook to Twitter. Because you are on the page dedicated to this specific video, image, or post this URL will lead your Twitter followers directly to the content you want to share.

In this case, the URL for the video I am sharing is https://www.facebook.com/BigJoeInsurance/videos/1422969431075632/

NOTE: If the URL doesn’t have a unique number like that at the end, you probably aren’t on the page that is specific to the content. Click the date/time link that I mentioned in step 2 and try again.

Step 5 – Paste the URL into your tweet

Finally, head over to Twitter and create your post. Posting a link on Twitter is easy because you can just paste the URL into the tweet if you want to allow Twitter to shorten it.

If you're wondering how to post a link to a Facebook post on Twitter, here are the simple steps. Click To Tweet

If you want to shorten the link yourself, you can always use a tool like http://bit. ly. In my case, I shortened it with Hootsuite’s Ow.ly shortener.

Step 6 – Post your tweet

Click the Tweet button and the Facebook post will be shared with your Twitter followers.

As always, I hope that helps folks who are unsure about how to cross-post content across social networks. Sharing a Facebook status update or post to Twitter can be relatively easy, but be sure you’re checking those privacy settings to see if it’s worth sharing.

Sharing a Facebook post to Twitter is pretty easy...once you know the steps. Click To Tweet

Let me know if there are questions, comments, or feedback on these steps.

How to Post Facebook Posts Automatically to Twitter

By Mel Hawthorne 12 Comments

Social media engagements are one of the main ways companies and businesses engage with their customers these days – and both Facebook and Twitter are important tools for this type of engagement.

Despite this, reposting everything you share on Facebook on Twitter is time-consuming and often impractical. Thankfully, you can automate this fairly easily – by setting up an automatic cross-posting function.

Here’s how to do that:

  1. Confirm Facebook settings

In order to be able to do this, you need to make sure that a few settings are correct on your Facebook. First off, you need to make sure your app platform is turned on so that other apps can connect to it. Go to your Account settings, followed by General Account Settings. Click on Apps on the left side to get to app settings – here, the platform option needs to be set to On.

The other thing you need to confirm is the privacy setting of your posts themselves. In order for them to be cross-postable, the individual settings for it need to be switched to Public. You can do this manually on each post, or via the Privacy settings page.

  1. Link your accounts

The next step is to connect your accounts. Go to the URL http://www.facebook.com/twitter. Click on the green Link My Profile to Twitter button. You can link multiple Facebook pages to your Twitter site – just enter your username and password in the relevant fields.

Click on the Authorize App button. When the authorization is complete, you’ll see a list of all the types of posts that can be posted directly to Twitter. By default, all possible posts are selected, but you can easily turn off the ones you don’t want posted here. Make sure that the checkboxes match what you want to post (or not to post).

  1. Activate the cross-posting

When you are done, click on Save Changes. As soon as you do, the cross-posting starts, and any and all future posts that match the criteria you set will automatically posted to your Twitter.

Tip: While you can, of course, share pictures and videos, the actual files won’t be cross-posted – instead, Twitter will post a link to the original Facebook image or video. Contrarily, hashtags attached to Facebook posts WILL be carried across to Twitter.

Ending the cross-posting

There are two ways to end the cross-posting if you no longer want it. You can either do it on Twitter or on Facebook. For the former, log into your Twitter and go to your settings. Under the Apps section there, you’ll see a list of all the apps that can access your Twitter – including Facebook. Simply revoke access there, and the auto-posting will stop. If you want it back, you can either set it up from scratch or if you haven’t left the Apps page yet, you can click the Undo revoke access button there. Be aware that once you have closed or left that page, the undo button will no longer be there and you will have to set it up from scratch after all.

The other option is to revoke access via Facebook. Go back to the http://www.facebook.com/twitter page, and you’ll be able to turn off auto-posting for post types. By turning it off for all types, there will effectively be no more posting. You can turn it back on any time. If that’s not enough, you can unlink Facebook from Twitter as well – by clicking on the Unlink from Twitter button on the http://www.facebook.com/twitter page.

Tip: It doesn’t matter whether you unlink from Facebook’s side or from Twitter’s – the effect is the same. It’s NOT necessary to do both – in fact, it isn’t possible. Once you have unlinked one, the option to do so disappears from the other.

How to link social networks Twitter and Facebook (repost from Facebook to Twitter)

If you use several social networks, you probably want to save some time by automating posting the same information to different services. When adding a new entry, for example, to Instagram, the system allows you to choose the placement of the photo on Facebook and Twitter as well. But how to connect these projects? Both of them, in principle, are used to post some personal notes about life, so the task of duplicating records can occur quite often. In this post, we will consider the forward and reverse directions of posting + several implementation options. nine0003

Repost from Facebook to Twitter via IFTTT

I already talked about the IFTTT service - an extremely useful and versatile thing. You can set up a trigger that reads a certain condition from one service (Facebook) and performs a given action (posting) on another site (Twitter). Actually, I now have a repost from Facebook to Twitter configured just through this mechanism.

If you take a close look at the picture above, you will notice that the trigger condition is to post the link to Facebook. That is, I post on my Twitter only those records where there are links. This little detail is the main advantage of using IFTTT - you can set up all kinds of filters and conditions for crossposting, and not just broadcast everything . For example, you can enable the task to run only if there is a certain #fortwitter hashtag, etc.

Through IFTTT, you can easily set up a repost from the social network Twitter to Facebook and vice versa. If you enter the query “facebook twitter” in the search bar of the service, then it will give out hundreds of recipes (task options). You just have to find the right ones. Here are a couple of them:

Automatic tweets with FB statuses

Shering of new links from Facebook on Twitter

Posting on Twitter when loading new images

Translation of Twittes and Retwitts to FB

Autopostics on a given hashteg

9000 9000 9000 9000 9000 9000 in FB pages

Recipes can be created independently without ready-made options - to do this, click on the link / button "Create a Recipe" and set all the settings step by step. nine0003

How to link Twitter and Facebook

Both services have the ability to link Twitter and Facebook social networks to each other using built-in basic functions. First, let's look at how to connect Twitter to Facebook. This will automatically post your tweets and retweets on your FB wall. The algorithm is as follows:

1. Go to the "Settings" of your Twitter account.
2. There you select the "Apps" section of applications.
3. On the page you will see the button "Connect to Facebook". Click on her. nine0003

4. If you are not logged into Facebook, you will have to enter your login/password. Then information will appear in a pop-up window about what data the application reads (info from the profile, date of birth). Click "Continue".
5. In the next step, you will need to select a category (group) of users that your tweets will see: "friends", "everyone" or other lists.
6. Click "OK" and you will see the result of connecting Twitter to Facebook.

There are marked settings for posting tweets and reposts to your Facebook profile. Replays are not sent. By the way, below you will find the “Allow posting to one of your pages” option, with which you can set up posting information to Facebook pages. If there are any errors during the integration process, you can look at the help. (Some typical situations are analyzed there). nine0003

How to link Facebook and Twitter

Finally, let's try to link Facebook to Twitter. For these purposes, there is a special page in FB.

Here you click on the "Link my profile to Twitter" button, after which a classic Twitter authorization request will appear with information on how the application works. It will be able to read tweets from the feed, post new ones, see followers. At the same time, access to direct messages is naturally closed. You need to click on the "Authorize App" button. nine0003

The next step displays the settings form (as in the picture above), where you specify the types of posts that will be posted on Twitter: statuses, links, photos, notes, events, etc. It is important to note that only public entries (“for everyone”) are reposted.

Sounds like it's not difficult, but unfortunately, I personally did not manage to link Facebook to Twitter in this way. After completing all the steps, an error message appears. I didn’t find any information about this on the network, and most of the entries about how to link social networks Twitter and Facebook are already several years old. Perhaps since then this function has had some problems. Therefore, for now, I will use the IFTTT service for reposting from Facebook to Twitter. nine0003

It is interesting to read about your experience of connecting the data of two social networks. Perhaps I did not take into account some nuance.

How to connect Facebook and Twitter (link and broadcast news)

Integration of social networks is a useful and demanded function among active Internet users. For example, you can link Facebook and Twitter so that your posts are automatically duplicated without any additional steps. And to make it easier than ever. We provide detailed instructions below. nine0003

So, you already have working accounts in both social networks that you actively (or not very actively) use. Duplicate publications manually frankly annoying, so there is a great way to automate the process - to link existing profiles with each other. You can do this at least in one, at least in another social network. This is purely a matter of your convenience. We will show you both ways so you can choose the one that suits you best.

Method 1. Through Facebook

You can integrate a Twitter page with a Facebook one as follows:

1. Follow the special link https://www.facebook.com/twitter.

2. Click "Link my profile to Twitter" or "Link page to Twitter".

3. Click on "Authorize app".

Integration completed! Now it remains only to select the categories of messages that will be published on Twitter. By the way, this can be done at any time, so it is not necessary to set the parameters immediately.

Method 2. Through Twitter

You can link Facebook and Twitter pages to each other through the second social network. It is also very easy to do this:

1. Log in to your Twitter account.

2. In the header of the page, click on your avatar and select "Settings".

3. Go from the menu column on the left to the "Apps" section.

4. Click Connect to Facebook.

5. In the window that appears, click "Ok" to link the accounts.

Now you can broadcast news on two "channels" at once. By the way, there is also a choice of published content. You might want to share only photo album updates, or maybe it's more important for you to share information from your Facebook account wall. In any case, you can edit the published categories at any time. And remember one detail of yours - only those posts that you have designated as public are duplicated. The private ones will remain private; intended for certain categories of users. nine0003

In addition, you can not link profiles to each other, but simply post a link to your Twitter account on FB. It is done like this:

1. Log in to Facebook using your account information.
