Sometimes a bot needs to store some data in a remote database and then use it at the right time.

In this tutorial, we will create a skill for the Yandex Alice voice assistant that can save notes and then speak them when the user asks.---

How the skill works

When the user starts the skill, the assistant says the note that is currently stored in the database, and then offers to overwrite it with a new one, if necessary. If there is no note yet, the assistant offers to create it.

Where to store notes

In order for the assistant to read a previously created note, its text must be saved somewhere. Variables in Aimylogic are tied to the current session and the variables will be gone after the session ends. Therefore, the text of the note must be able to be saved to some external database that can store data regardless of the session.

In fact, the database can be any. But in this tutorial, we will choose the MongoDB database, for which many online services have been created so that you do not have to deploy it on your servers.

mLab

One of these services for working with the MongoDB database is mlab.com

On this service you can create databases up to 500 MB absolutely free . This is more than enough to save notes from all users of our skill.

Another plus is that mLab has an HTTP API, which means that bots created on Aimylogic can easily save and receive data using the HTTP request block.

Creating a database

The first step is to create a database in which the bot will save user notes. Go to mlab.com and register or log in to your account. Next, create a new database with plan Sandbox

In the next step, select the physical location of the database server. We recommend choosing US East, as it is faster.

The last step is to name the database and create it.

mLab access key

In order for the bot to access the data in your mLab database, you need to get an access key. To do this, click on the link with the username in the upper right corner of the screen. The account settings will open. At the very bottom of the page, you will see the API key section. Click on the button "Enable Data API access", to get the key. It will be displayed in field API key.

Create a bot script

So, go to Aimylogic and create a new bot. The script editor will open.

First of all, the bot must retrieve the saved note from the database. How to do it?

Add an HTTP request block to the first screen and write the address in the URL in the following format

For the name, substitute the name that you entered when you created the database. As a key - the value that we got in the previous step.

As a result of such a request, the bot will receive an array of documents from MongoDB, which is stored in the collection of this user.

Collections instead of tables, JSON instead of SQL

MongoDB is a noSQL database, so there are no tables and no SQL. Instead, it stores collections of regular JSON objects that are very convenient to work with in your bot. We simply request an array of JSON objects from the required collection. If there is no collection yet, then the array will be empty.

Getting a note from the database

This request will return an array of JSON objects. Or an empty array if the collection doesn't exist yet. Our bot should only get the first element from this array, because our skill should be able to save and read only one note.

In the Response tab, add a variable named note with value

$httpResponse.length ? $httpResponse[0].note : ""

The entire array of objects is automatically stored in the httpResponse system variable. Each element in an array is not just a string, but an object with fields. We will store the text of the note in field note, so we pull it out. If the array is empty, then the note text will also be an empty string, that is, "".

As a result, we should get something like this HTTP request configuration

Click Save and move on.

Create a new note or read this one

So, on the first screen, the bot received a note and saved it to the $note variable. If there is no note yet, this variable will contain an empty string. Now the bot must either create a note or read its text.

This is a branching in the bot script, which means that on the second screen we need the Conditions block.

Click on Completed successfully on the first screen to create the second one. The block palette will open. Click on Conditions - the conditions setting window will open.

Here we add a single condition - $note - it will work if the variable $note is not an empty string.

Click on Save and click on the $note condition in the created block. A new screen will be added, on which our bot will display the note text if there is something in $note. Add a Text block from the Blocks Palette and write in it like this

That is, the bot will substitute the text of the note from the $note variable in response and offer to rewrite it.

Now click on Save and click on else in the conditions box on the previous screen. This branch will work if the $note variable has an empty string - that is, if the user has never created a note yet.

Again, a new screen will be created, on which the bot should say that there is no note yet and offer to create it. Add a Text block with this content

Click on Save. As a result, the first four screens in the script should look like this

User reaction

rewrite to a new one, or simply offers to create a note.

That is, after both outcomes, the bot should expect the user to answer "Yes" or "No" to the question about creating/rewriting a note.

To implement this, add a Transition block to the screen with a suggestion to create a new note - it will simply transfer the bot to a new screen.

On this screen, add block Intents , in which create two groups of phrases - yes and no, as in the screenshot.

Click on Save. A screen will be created where the bot is waiting for these phrases from the user. Drag the arrow from another Transition to this block so that your bot goes to this screen in both cases - both after the suggestion to rewrite the note, and after the suggestion to create a new one.

The user answers "Yes"

So, if the user wants to create a new note or overwrite an old one, he simply answers "Yes". After that, the bot should listen to the text of the note and save it in the database. If the user changes his mind, he can say the word "Cancel" or "Cancel" so that the bot stops listening to him.

Click on the group of phrases "yes" in the block with phrases to create a new screen. On this screen, add a Text block to prompt the user to dictate text.

Also add block Intents to respond to the Cancel command or listen to the text of the note.

Notice that we switched the quotation marks to an @ sign next to our sample phrase. This is done so that the bot does not cancel the creation of a note if the user uses this word or synonyms when dictating text.

When the user dictates the text of the note, it will be saved to the $queryText system variable, which can be passed in the request to save the note to the database.

Save the note to the database

Click on Any other phrase in the newly created phrase block. A new screen will be created, which the bot will get to as soon as the user says the text of the note.

On this screen we will store the note text in the database. To do this, add an HTTP request with the following configuration

Specify the POST method instead of GET (since we are sending, not receiving data). As the URL, specify the same one that we specified when receiving the note. On the Body tab, specify JSON like this

{ "_id": "1", "note": "$queryText"} Here _id is a required field for any document in MongoDB. Just write whatever you want there as we only save one note per user anyway.

In the note field, specify "$queryText" (required in quotes) - this is the user-dictated note text.

On the Headers tab, be sure to add a header named Content-Type and value application/json

Click Save. In the added block, click on Completed successfully and add the text that the bot will say when it saves the note. For example, like this

Testing the skill

We have a skill that, at the start, says a note and offers to rewrite it, or says that the note has not yet been created and offers to create it.

To test a skill, it is not necessary to publish it in Alice, you can simply click on the microphone icon next to the test button. So right in the browser, you can talk to the skill to listen to how it will sound for all users.

We connect to Alice

To test in Yandex Dialogs before publishing - just go to the Channels menu and create a new channel Alice. You can read more about how to make a skill for Alice out of a bot in the Yandex Alice section.

Problem with User ID

Now almost everything is ready to turn our bot into a skill for Alice. But there is one problem. In Alice, user IDs are very long. And our bot uses this identifier as a collection in which it will store the user's note. If the collection name is too long, then mLab will simply return an error.

To avoid this, we need to somehow shorten the user ID before the bot starts its work. But in Aimylogic you can't write your own code yet, so let's use webhooks.

Go to the bot settings and enter the following address in the "URL of your webhook" field:

Save and return to the editor. On the first screen, turn on the webhook event in the upper right corner of the screen and write get_collection 9 there0004

Then, in both HTTP request blocks in the URL, replace ${userId} with ${collection}.

This way, the bot will first get a suitable collection name on our webhook, and only then continue its work. Our webhook code is just a function that converts a long userId into a shorter string.

Testing in Alice

Now you can go to Yandex Dialogues and test the skill in the Dialogues interface. Before that, of course, you need to specify the webhook address, which is specified in the Alice channel settings at Aimylogic .

Please note that if you reload the page, the skill will not lose the previously created note, since the bot saved its text in the database. Exactly what we were trying to achieve in this tutorial.

Meaning and interpretation of the Tarot card

The lasso can warn the fortuneteller about deceit, health problems against the background of alcohol or even drug abuse.

Sometimes the Seven of Cups is a sign of help and support of loved ones, when it is really necessary on the way to achieving the goal. Help cannot be rejected, otherwise a favorable outcome can not be expected.

Reversed position

In this position, Arkan is also interpreted as an erroneous choice, but entailed complications and additional problems, the solution of which is also to be found. The Seven of Cups in this position symbolizes a person who is in the real world, he has to solve problems and achieve his goals.

If the alignment turned out to be negative, then the card is a sign of disappointment and missed opportunities that could raise the fortuneteller's life to a new level. There is a possibility that opportunities are not exploited due to fear of success.

The one who makes the alignment simply does not understand how to behave in a situation when fate will change anger to mercy, generously bestowing good luck in business. Arcane in some cases denotes the right choice, which will bring good luck in all matters.

Seven of Cups: Significance in love and relationships

Upright position

When a love alignment is made, the Seven of Cups is a sign of self-deception. A person does not want to see reality, it is convenient for him to observe only what he himself wishes. Such an Arkan warns that the partner is not as perfect as it seems through the prism of rose-colored glasses. Trust in a spouse is not justified, most likely, the second half cheats or deceives even in small things.

The Seven of Cups sometimes symbolizes certain sexual preferences that are condemned by society. The Seven of Cups is a warning of betrayal, an indication of senseless hopes in relation to a spouse.

In a situation, the card is a sign of confusion. The fortuneteller does not understand and cannot explain what is happening, how to solve the current problem. One of the most difficult choices in life may appear before you, you will have to bear responsibility for it until the end of your days.

Perhaps it is worth making a compromise so as not to rush from one extreme to another, to be the winner (at least to a lesser extent, but still). It is impossible to get everything at once, you should not puzzle over it. Do not follow your heart, think carefully before making your choice.

Don't delay! It is always difficult to come to any choice, but procrastination is not an option. It is worth acting, carefully weighing all the options in your head. Disappointment is an adequate reaction to the wrong choice, but if there are many alternatives, it is not so easy to choose.

Let go of your emotions, they only get in the way, the energy goes in the wrong direction, it is worth directing it to achieve real goals. Do not miss the allotted opportunities, they will definitely help solve the problem. Even if you make a mistake, don't give up, keep moving forward. A wrong move is just a life lesson that needs to be learned.
