Android users had to download a third-party application like Whatscan Pro, which provided the convenience to use WhatsApp on multiple devices. The new scan feature eliminates the need to rely on additional applications and enables the use of WhatsApp with a single account on browser or desktop. The multi-device beta feature is currently accessible to individuals utilizing the most recent variant of WhatsApp on Android or iPhone. All you need to do is keep your system and WhatsApp version updated.

How to use WhatsApp on two or more phones

If you have more than one phone — say one for your private life and one for work — you may have encountered issues syncing your information across devices. This is especially true with WhatsApp, as the company doesn’t allow you to use the same number with more than one device. So syncing your WhatsApp messages between two devices officially becomes impossible. However, there is another way you could do it — but it’s not the most elegant solution.

QUICK ANSWER

To use the same phone number on more than one device, use WhatsApp Web on your phone browser on the second phone. Be sure to request the desktop version of WhatsApp to avoid being redirected to the App Store or Play Store. Pop-up notifications may not work, depending on your browser, but you'll still be able to use WhatsApp Web on a secondary device for the same number. As of December 2022, WhatsApp is also testing a beta tablet version, which you can put onto a second phone by tricking the APK file into thinking the phone is a tablet.

WhatsApp Web

Let’s refer to the two devices as phone one and phone two. Phone one has the WhatsApp app installed, with the phone number officially registered in its settings. Phone one also has all of the previous conversation histories and media. Now you want to use the same number on phone two’s WhatsApp, access those conversations and media attachments, and sync any changes across both devices.

So how do you do it? Well, not by using the WhatsApp app on phone two. That will require a different number, and although you can officially transfer your WhatsApp messaging history between phones, it won’t sync between devices. The transfer is one-way and is meant for users who are permanently changing devices.

Instead, this is one of the ways to take advantage of WhatsApp Web. On phone two, open your internet browser and go to https://web.whatsapp.com. Right away, request the desktop version of the website. The mobile version of the site will automatically push the app to you.

When it switches to the desktop site, you’ll see the QR code for linking devices.

Over on phone one, go to Settings—>Linked Devices. Tap Link a Device and when the QR code scanner appears, scan the code on phone two.

The two phones will now link together, sync messaging, and so forth. However, you will immediately see that WhatsApp desktop is not optimized for mobile devices. So, as I said before, this is not the most elegant solution, especially for long chat sessions. But for the purposes of checking for new messages and quickly firing off a quick note to someone, it’ll work.

The screenshot below makes it look bigger than it actually is. In reality, you will need to pinch and zoom in to read messages.

Android APK beta for tablets

As of December 2022, WhatsApp is finally addressing the issue of using the same WhatsApp account on different devices. At the moment, though, it’s only for Android devices, and it’s in the beta testing phase. There’s no word yet on when or if this will become available for iOS users. We will update this article as more details come to light.

If you are in the WhatsApp beta program, you will receive a notification that there is a test version for Android tablets. As Rita explains in her article, you can trick the APK file into thinking your second phone is a tablet and install it on a phone too. It’s not the easiest method to do something like this, but if you really want it and you can’t wait for WhatsApp to come out with a better method, then it’s better than nothing.

Unfortunately not. The WhatsApp app only accepts one number. If WhatsApp is using that number on another phone, it will tell you the number is already in use and will ask for another number.

How to use two WhatsApp accounts on one phone

If you have a dual SIM phone, you can use two WhatsApp accounts on two phone numbers on the same device. Here we will show you how to do it.

The official website of the service says: “Your WhatsApp account can only be verified on one phone number and on one device. If you are using a dual SIM phone, you will need to select one number to verify it with WhatsApp. You can't get a WhatsApp account linked to two phone numbers."

Actually, this is not entirely true. There are ways to use one phone for two WhatsApp accounts with two phone numbers.

  • Use the Parallel Space app

  • Use My KNOX (for Samsung devices)
  • Use Second Space (for Xiaomi smartphones)

How to install two WhatsApp accounts on one phone

If you have a dual card mobile phone with Android operating system, you can use two phone numbers and different messenger accounts on one device. Below we will explain how to do this, depending on your preferences and the type of mobile phone.

Use the Parallel Space app

Parallel Space is an app that can be downloaded from the official Google Play store. It allows you to duplicate my apps. With it, you can "clone" the WhatsApp application and register a second version with a different phone number. So you can use both accounts at the same time.

Create two users with two WhatsApp accounts

The Lollipop update for Android 5.0 contains a very useful new feature: the ability to create different users on the same mobile device (this feature has been around for a long time on computers). Thanks to this innovation, each user can have their own WhatsApp (or other applications) account.

To use this feature, insert a second SIM card and register this number with WhatsApp. After the operation is completed, you will be able to use the new account.

Use My KNOX (for Samsung devices)

While Samsung's proprietary security app My KNOX is not designed for this purpose, it also allows you to duplicate WhatsApp accounts even if you don't have a dual SIM phone. The program virtually creates two devices from one.

Download My KNOX to your Samsung device and enter your security information. Sign in to the app and search for WhatsApp among third party apps. To avoid having to log into My KNOX every time you want to use a second WhatsApp account, you can create a shortcut. To do this, enter the My KNOX mode and click on the WhatsApp icon until it is highlighted, then drag it to the screen of your device. You can easily distinguish between different accounts as the KNOX account will be marked with a small padlock.

Use Second Space (for Xiaomi smartphones)

Xiaomi phones also allow you to create two virtual devices on one gadget. To do this, go to Settings and log in to the second virtual device. Here you can choose which apps you can use on both virtual devices: select WhatsApp. A new app icon will appear on your phone screen.

Important! To create a new account with a different number and receive an activation code via SMS, you will need to insert a second SIM card.

How to use WhatsApp on Android from two numbers at once

While dual-SIM smartphones were almost non-existent in the market just a few years ago, over time they have become the absolute norm. Thanks to the ability to use two numbers, millions of users have been able to separate their private and public lives, using one SIM card for personal issues and another for work. But the life of a modern person is not limited to phone calls. Many communicate exclusively through instant messengers, but at the same time they do not have the opportunity to use two accounts that are independent of each other. We will tell you how to get around this limitation.

How to reduce battery consumption in WhatsApp on Android

First you need to install a second WhatsApp . Somewhere it is quite simple to do this, but somewhere more difficult. Some manufacturers add the ability to duplicate the same applications to the firmware of their smartphones. If my memory serves me, these are Huawei, Honor, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Asus. There may be others, but I don't know anything about them. We will analyze cloning using the example of my Honor View 20, which supports this function.

How to clone WhatsApp on Android

  • Go to "Settings" and open the "Apps" section;
  • Find the "Clone Application" tab here and launch it;

Many smartphones allow you to run WhatsApp twice

  • In the window that opens, find the WhatsApp application and enable the duplicate function;
  • After that, a second WhatsApp will appear on the desktop, where you can log in from another number and use it as an alternative.

Huawei introduced a service to install WhatsApp, Instagram and other banned applications

However, if your smartphone does not support duplication of applications by default, you can use a third-party utility that serves the same purpose. In fact, there are quite a few programs that create a copy of already installed applications and allow you to run them separately from the main one. However, I chose DualSpace because of its simplicity and convenience. It is implemented in the format of a folder where you can add clones of all installed applications. That is, in fact, a virtual area is created on the device, from which copies of third-party or standard software are launched.

How to install a second WhatsApp on Android

  • Download DualSpace from Google Play to your smartphone;
  • Run it and grant the required privileges;

If your smartphone cannot duplicate applications by default, download a special utility

  • In the window that opens, click "+" and create a WhatsApp clone;
  • Launch WhatsApp and log in with a new number.

DualSpace is free by default, but you can purchase a paid version if you wish. It allows you to create several accounts even within the virtual space in order to be able to quickly switch between them and have access to several application clones, and also removes all ads, which I personally found completely unobtrusive while using DualSpace. However, if you are not interested in these benefits, I see no reason to pay.

Duplication of applications is a completely banal feature that many have not even heard of

Yes, everything is really very simple. Now, to access WhatsApp clone , you will need to open the DualSpace folder and launch the messenger from there. After you pass authorization in it, you will no longer need to do this again at each start. In this case, notifications will come in the same way, both from the main application and duplicated, appearing in the notification shade. You will only have to behave carefully enough so as not to confuse the addressees and not send the message “by”.
