Why repost on Instagram?

Reposting on Instagram is a way to ride the momentum of conversations that are already getting lots of engagement among your followers and target audience. It’s a win for both you and the original poster as it garners engagement for you and widens their own exposure. Here are some of the specific benefits of reposting on Instagram:

  • Cultivate community: Acknowledging and uplifting others cultivates an inviting and engaged community around your brand.
  • Save time: This is basically pre-made content that you know will do well and that you can share in just a few steps.
  • Diversify content: Reposting can naturally deliver content from a range of perspectives and backgrounds that resonate with your audience.
  • Get new ideas: When your creative well is running dry, this is a great way to spark inspiration (although you can find dozens of ideas in our Social Media Marketing Lab).
  • Build trust: Sharing valuable content—and not just your own—shows your audience that you know them well and have their best interests (and not just your follower count)

What to repost on Instagram

Repost anything that sparks interest from your audience. Here’s who you can repost from:

  • Influencers: Share content from influencers in your industry that will bring value to your audience.
  • Complementary businesses: These are businesses that share your audience but aren’t competitors. For example, GoPro and Redbull.
  • Accounts that share your core values: For example, you might repost an inspiring quote or demonstration of leadership or great customer service.
  • Customers and followers: User-generated content is any post from your customers or audience that acknowledges your business. Posts with user-generated content yield a 5% higher conversion rate than non-UGC.

As you’ll see in each of the instructions below, you’ll always want to tag the original poster and mention them in your caption.

How to repost on Instagram: photo to Feed

The easiest way to repost Instagram photos to your Feed is the screenshot method.

Step 1: Screenshot the Instagram photo you want to repost.

Step 2: Tap the “new post” button in the top right corner of your Instagram app. When presented with the different content format options, choose “post.”

Step 3: Choose the image from your gallery.

Step 4: Use Instagram’s native cropping tool to resize the image. If you use a certain filter for your feed, you can add it to the photo (if you add filters using third-party apps, you’d edit the screenshot prior to clicking “new post”).

Step 5: Tag the original poster in the photo, then clearly credit them again in your Instagram caption.

Step 6: Tap “share” and wait for users to start engaging.

How to repost an Instagram Story you’re tagged in

What better way to promote your Instagram than through other people? To share posts you’ve been tagged in, the original poster must have their account set to public and the Instagram Sharing Story feature enabled.

Step 1: Check your direct messages to find the Story you’ve been tagged in.

Step 2: After opening the message, you’ll see a button on the message that says “Add this to your Story.”

Step 3: At this point, you can edit the story by adding GIFs, stickers, drawings, or a typed message. Once you’re satisfied with your masterpiece, tap “next.”

Step 4: Now it’s time to choose who will see your Story. You can add it to your public Story, your Close Friends list, or DM it to a single account.

How to repost an Instagram Story you aren’t tagged in

To repost an Instagram story you aren’t tagged in, you’ll have to either screenshot or use a third-party app like Ming. This also only works if the original poster’s account is public.

Step 1: Find the video you want to repost.

Step 2: Tap the paper airplane button below the video (right next to the like and comment icons).

Step 3: A pop-up menu will appear. Tap “Add post to your Story.”

Step 2: Head to your camera roll to crop out the background. We just want the video content.

Step 3: Tap the “New Post” button in the top right corner of your Instagram app. When presented with the different content format options, choose “Reel”.

Step 4: Use Instagram’s native trimming tool to edit the video, making sure to cut out any footage from before and after the video started playing in your screen recording.

If you use a certain filter for your feed, you can add it to the video (if you add filters using third-party apps, you’d edit the screen recording prior to tapping “New Post”).

Step 5: Clearly credit the original poster in your caption copy.

Step 6: Tap “Share” and wait for users to start engaging.

More Instagram repost apps

Instagram repost apps aren’t one size fits all. Different apps have different features. Play around to see which one works best for your content strategy. In addition to the two already mentioned (Repost app from the App Store and Ming from the App Store), here are some Instagram repost apps we recommend you try out:

1. Reposta

Reposta on Google Play is super straightforward. It features a short list of instructions on the launch screen to guide you through the reposting process. Additionally, you get a few options for pasting a link, grabbing the link from Instagram, or sharing directly to the app.

2. Sepia Software’s Repost for Instagram

Repost for Instagram app for iPad gives you two interface options: compact for adjusting the image you’re reposting and expanded so you can see the image and caption all in one place. You can also adjust the color and position of the original poster’s watermark, which is pretty neat.

3. Repost for Instagram- Regrann

Regrann on Google Play is a solid option for users who repost often and want to try out four different reposting modes. You can save the repost to your camera roll or share directly to Instagram. There are a few “quick modes” that streamline the reposting process according to your preferences.

Now you can repost your heart out, seven different ways! But don’t get carried away—most of your content should be your own original content. And as always, be sure to credit the original poster!

What is Repost for Instagram and How Do You Use It?

Do you see posts on Instagram from customers you would like to share for your business? Or, have you ever gotten a little frustrated with the inability to share your finds with your audience? The Repost app for Instagram lets you do just that.

How Does the Repost App Work?

Just as Facebook allows you to share and Twitter lets you retweet, the Repost app helps you easily share Instagram posts that others have posted. According to The Small Business Blog, it’s a quick and simple way to use “user generated content” that can help your page perform better.  How? Here are the steps:

  1. Download the app.
  2. Open the Instagram app and locate the desired Instagram feed.
  3. Tap the post you wish to share.
4. Open the sharing options (the three dots) for the post.
  5. Click "Copy Share URL".
  6. Once successfully copied, you'll receive a confirmation.
  7. Open Repost again. The copied post will be there.
  8. Select the copied post.
  9. Tap Repost.
  10. Tap "Copy to Instagram". This will send you back the native Instagram app.
  11. From there, you can add your own captions and tag the photo's owner.
  12. Just hit "Share" and you're done.

The beauty of Repost is that it adds more functionality to the Instagram app while also allowing you the chance to give credit and the proper due to the original poster. Let's cover why exactly reposting is beneficial in the first place.

Reposting offers a chance to diversify your content and grow your Instagram Likes. You probably go through hours of creating and editing the text and photos that you post. Reposting lets you gain exposure for your brand while posting another's content. It also allows you to build in-roads with your own followers. Obviously, to succeed on Instagram businesses, you need active and engaging followers. And to be honest, to achieve this goal, you not only need to use an Instagram followers app, but also must keep consistent which can be done properly by reposting content.

For example, a customer-base that sees their content being reposted may feel their voice is being heard by your brand. Having their work posted on a larger platform can feel rewarding.

Sharing user-generated content from top instagram accounts allows you to harness the power of social media. On Instagram, followers are typically more engaged with a brand. Therefore, encourage your followers to create content and to use your brand hashtags.

Building with your followers offers an opportunity to expand your brand and follower base on a more personal level. Think about what resonates with today’s audience. Keep an eye on your Instagram dashboard to see their activities on your posts, to understand their needs and expectations.

With social media users placing a higher premium on influencers, having a customer post their honest, positive review of your products helps builds your brand’s credibility as well as trust among followers.

With an app like Repost, you can tap into the benefits of the Instagram platform for your marketing efforts!

When needing other web and app tools to help you improve your digital work and particularly content marketing work, a tool like BuzzSumo can help.  See this Buzzsumo review for more details.

Top 5 Instagram Repost Apps for Android and iOS

Top 5 Instagram Repost Apps for Android and iOS

In recent years, Instagram has become the perfect social network for sharing photos and short videos. The only thing it still lacks is the ability to repost.

To do this, you need to install a third-party app and give it access to your Instagram account.

Pro:

Repost for Instagram is powerful, with a simple user interface and built-in tutorial with video and text instructions.

In the background, the application also starts a listening service that waits for you to copy links from Instagram. Once you do this, a pop-up notification will appear that will take you directly to the app with the copied photo.

The free version of Repost for Instagram will watermark the username of the account you're trying to repost the photo from. It also automatically copies the caption to the original photo, which is very convenient.

Vs:

To remove the watermark from the username, you need to unlock the "Pro" version by paying $4.99, which will also save you from ads. Also, for posts that have multiple photos/videos, this app will only allow you to repost the first photo from the post and not the rest.

Repost Photo and Video for Instagram starts a listening service that waits for you to copy links from Instagram. You can access this service from notifications and stop it from there.

The user interface is quite optimized. There are tabs for easy access to link history.

Repost Photo and Video for Instagram also has a username watermark option, but you don't even have to pay to remove it. This app also has a great way to deal with messages containing multiple photos/videos. It lists them all individually, so you can choose one to send.

Against:

No.

Tracks copied links instantly and gives you a large popup in the middle of the screen, in addition to the usual notification.

This app is more like a downloader that also has a repost feature. The photos/videos are saved on the phone, and the app even lets you organize your saved messages into albums. You have the option to leave a review and buy the premium version of this app for $4.99.

For posts with multiple images and videos, this application will provide them to you in a typical side scroll mode. You can move them to the folder you want to forward or share it with other apps.

Against:

Link tracking can be difficult to get rid of.

Repost for Instagram - Regrann welcomes you with a tutorial and then goes straight to work through the settings screen.

The application provides several modes. The most convenient is the "Popup Selection" mode, which immediately opens the app when you copy an Instagram link and provides "Quick repost", "Quick save" and "Quick post later" options. These three options are also available as separate modes.

It also gives you the option to enable or disable the listening service and add a username watermark. The application also automatically copies the signature and provides the ability to replace it with your own.

The "Post Later" feature is also very good, allowing you to bookmark posts. You can also repost with multiple images/videos.

Vs:

Messages with multiple photos/videos can only be saved directly to the phone memory, not in Quick Post Later mode.

Download: Repost for Instagram – Regrann for iOS | Android (Free)
Pro:

Save and Repost for Instagram quickly saves copied links. The main screen of the application allows you to save the message, repost it, or share it in other applications.

This application also gives the user a surprising degree of control over ads. Premium plans start at $9.99 per month, giving you features like "Cloud backup" of all your local messages so you can save the archive after you switch devices.

Against:

This application cannot handle messages containing multiple photos and videos.

Please note

Some of the apps in this list have iOS versions. However, this operating system is fairly conservative with the amount of control it gives applications. As such, most advanced features such as listening service, options to save media to storage, or sharing with apps other than Instagram are not available on iOS versions.

Unfortunately, sharing apps on iOS usually just provide basic functionality.

Another thing to remember is that the Listener service on Android is constantly running in the background. It is best to remove these apps from your phone memory as they can drain your battery.
