Finding, turning on and adding filters to Instagram

Those that have been added to Stories deserve special attention. There is one way to turn on all filters on Instagram and remove unnecessary ones from the list.
Finding and enabling filters
When creating a publication for the first time, the user is offered a basic set consisting of the first ten effects. Installing third-party filters on Instagram will not work, but you can go to the whole catalog with editing.
Where to find the standard ones:
- Log in to Instagram.
- Go to section: " Create a post ".
- Add a photo from the Gallery or take a photo.
- Press: " Next " - a menu will appear with the addition.
- Click on the selected item again to set transparency.
How to find additional filters on Instagram:
- When adding a photo, go to "Filters".
- Scroll to the end of the list - Control .
- Check the ones you need when editing.
- Click on top: " Save ".
The list can be returned to its original form if you go back to the "Management" category and indicate the first ten positions.
Using filters for Stories
Unlike the posts section, you can't set transparency percentage in Stories. Also, it is impossible to edit only individual elements of the image: color correction is applied to all images, including text. The collection of effects is limited, so users are more likely to use editing elements from third-party applications.
Instructions on how to add filters to Instagram Stories:
- Go to the section: Stories.
- Add a photo or take a photo.
- Swipe left to open the edit menu.
- Scroll through the list - select one of the options.
- Place.
To select one, the user only needs to stop scrolling. The editing settings are reset by the "Cancel" button or by switching to the first, original one.
While creating a Story and adding an effect, other functions are also available: working with stickers, captions, downloading videos. The filter will be applied to photos and videos added to the Stories section.
Where to find new ones
The catalog is regularly updated in the "Management" section. To test new ones, you need to visit the section again and see the available options. The user can create personal add-ons by specifying certain settings for editing.
But applying the same settings to other images will not work - the preset will not be saved as a separate adjustment layer.
If all filters on Instagram have disappeared:
- update or reinstall the application;
- go to the "Management" settings and see the list of added effects;
- Start editing again.
Such a problem is rare: even in the first version of the social network, there were already effects for pictures. When adding a new photo, you need to check its size and resolution.
The photo may not upload if it doesn't meet Instagram's requirements. Also, the problem of why there are no filters on Instagram is related to adding new ones.
If the user hasn't updated in time, some of the options will be displayed as a black square. By clicking on them, an error will appear: “There were problems uploading photos. The request has been submitted to Instagram.
All effects can be edited and changed via the menu " Tools ". To automatically correct the picture, the user needs to click on the icon in the form of " sun " from the top. After - use the instructions on how to enable all filters on Instagram and add an additional effect.
Take a photo on Instagram without posting/uploading
Any photo taken on Instagram will be automatically posted directly to your Instagram feed, sharing the photo with the world (or at least whoever follows you) .
But what if you want to take one or two shots with the Instagram app, apply those fancy filters, and not share them with anyone? It's not an option directly in the Instagram app itself, but you can use a little trick on the iPhone (or Android, if it's on your boat) to indirectly get this option yourself.
This allows you to take photos on Instagram without uploading them, and apply and save filter additions to images without uploading them to Instagram. The last option means you can apply multiple filters to the same photo if you like.
How to take a photo on Instagram without downloading it
Preventing Instagram photos from downloading is very easy:
- Use any of the following tricks to enter AirPlane mode on iPhone (note that all versions of Instagram work the same) :
- Modern versions of iOS: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center and tap the airplane icon to enter AirPlane mode.
- Older versions of iOS: Go to Settings and turn on AirPlane Mode - this temporarily disables all cellular and wireless connections for the device.
- Launch Instagram and take a photo, apply the filter and edit as usual and select "Share".
- The image cannot be shared, so press the (X) button and select Delete.
- Now visit the Photos app on your iPhone to find the Instagram image stored in your Camera Roll folder.

You can use filters, blur and borders as usual, it is pointless to name the photo because it will not be published:
It's important to press X and remove the image from the upload queue, otherwise the photo might actually be uploaded when you disable AirPlane mode and use Instagram again in the future.
That's all there is to it. Since AirPlane mode disables all data transfer, the sharing process will fail and the image will never be uploaded to Instagram, instead it will be stored locally on the iPhone.
