How to set fingerprint on whatsapp

How to Lock WhatsApp With Your Phone's Biometric Sensor

  • To lock WhatsApp on your phone, go to the app's settings and enable fingerprint lock or FaceID.
  • You'll need to unlock your phone each time you close WhatsApp or after one to 30 minutes.
  • You can protect your account with disappearing messages, chat archiving, and two-step verification.

WhatsApp is a messaging app that prides itself on security. All texts, chats, and video calls rely on end-to-end encryption so you can have confidence that nothing you do in WhatsApp can be intercepted or monitored.

It's possible to make WhatsApp even more secure, by protecting the app itself with whatever biometric security your phone has, such as fingerprints or Face ID. This way, even if someone gets physical possession of your phone, your WhatsApp messages will remain secure.

You can use your Android phone's fingerprint reader to ensure you're the only one who can open the app.

How to lock WhatsApp on iPhone

You can lock WhatsApp on your iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID, depending upon what model iPhone you have. Regardless of which iPhone you have, the process is the same.

2. Tap Settings in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Other ways to protect your WhatsApp messages

Besides locking your phone, there are other ways you can protect your WhatsApp account and messages from unwanted access. Here are a few more:

  • Enable disappearing messages: If you want to send someone a message that self-erases after a period of time, you can enable disappearing messages. Afterward, any message will disappear after a day, a week, or three months, depending on the length of time you've chosen.
  • Archive sensitive chats: Instead of deleting messages to hide them from anyone snooping through your WhatsApp, you can archive their respective chats instead. This will remove the chats from the Chats tab, but you can always access and restore them later on from the Archived screen.
  • Enable two-step verification: On top of biometrics, you can add an additional layer of protection to your account when setting up WhatsApp on a new phone by enabling two-step verification. To do that on both Android and iPhone, go to Settings > Account > Two-Step Verification and tap Turn On. You'll then need to enter a passcode and an email address (you can skip this).

Quick tip: Although the email address is optional when enabling two-step verification, you should enter it as a backup in case you forget your passcode.

How to set up and use WhatsApp fingerprint lock

Whatsapp is the world's most widely used cross-platform messaging service. It's been ten long years since the first appearance of the messenger, and, naturally, it has faced some competition during this decade. However, surprisingly, its popularity continues unabated.

The application is currently under the broad umbrella of Facebook and receives periodic updates to improve features and service. While the stable version receives maintenance updates from time to time, the beta version is usually exactly where to go.

So if you don't mind periodic updates and a few rare bugs, sign up for the WhatsApp beta program to get the long-awaited updates before anyone else.

Windows apps, mobile apps, games - EVERYTHING FOR FREE, in our closed telegram channel - Subscribe :)

Or, if you can't participate in the beta program, download and install the latest WhatsApp beta .apk file . You can find the latest issue here.

WhatsApp provides a handy feature in the latest beta update that allows consumers to use their biometric fingerprint to unlock the app.

Required version and download for WhatsApp Fingerprint Unlock

The Fingerprint Lock feature, which allows you to set your fingerprint as security on WhatsApp without the need for any other apps or services, is available in WhatsApp 2. 19 Beta.221 (and newer).

So, to see fingerprint unlock in action, you need to download 2.19.221 Android Beta from Google Play. To register, open WhatsApp in Google Play , scroll down and find Become a beta tester and tap I'm in . Voila!

Also, you can download the beta APK file from here and then install it manually to get the fingerprint lock feature immediately.

Since this is a beta, there may be a few scam bugs here and there, so keep that in mind before moving on to the other side. If you're looking for a bug-free job, wait for the stable release. However, given how long it usually takes WhatsApp to release stable updates, get ready for at least a couple of months of waiting.

How to set up a fingerprint lock on WhatsApp

Setting up a fingerprint lock is quite simple. After successful installation 2.19.221 beta, just go to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Enable Fingerprint Unlock .

There are a few extra settings you need to know to get the most out of the fingerprint unlock system.

The first one allows you to change the validity period of your authentication. By selecting one of the three options - Immediately , After 1 minute , and After 30 minutes - you can adjust the intensity of security checks.

It is also possible to toggle whether sender information and message contents are displayed in the notification area. After turning it off, the contents of the application are hidden with the text "contents are hidden due to fingerprint lock."

How to use WhatsApp Fingerprint Unlock

Once you have successfully set up WhatsApp Fingerprint Unlock, you don't need to do any extra steps to make it work. Just go to the app and you should be prompted to enter your fingerprint.

Whatsapp Fingerprint Lock Tips

Here are some tips to follow when using the WhatsApp Fingerprint Unlock feature.

Get rid of app blocking

Most privacy-conscious people rely on third-party apps to add an extra layer of security. From PIN and password to Face ID and fingerprint, there are many options on the market. But now that WhatsApp has launched its own fingerprint authentication system, we don't have to rely on third-party apps.

Also, using a third party lock app on top of the WhatsApp fingerprint system makes this process more time consuming as you need to complete two authentication processes before accessing the app.

You can still answer calls

As mentioned earlier, it is possible to hide sender information and contents in the notification area. However, when it comes to WhatsApp calling, there is no such option/limitation. Even if you hide the sender information and content, you will be able to answer WhatsApp calls because authentication is only required when you want to open the main app.

Roll back to the stable version if necessary

Yes, the beta version provides the fastest updates, but there are usually a lot of bugs associated with the package.
