As WhatsApp continues to evolve, there are new features and new ways to add some of your personality to your messages. It has long been possible to write text in bold or italic or to send GIFs or stickers, but writing WhatsApp messages in a different font color is still not natively possible.

It can be done, though, through third party apps and we explain exactly how to change the WhatsApp font color here.

Which app do you need to change font color on WhatsApp?

There are a number of third party apps that you can download to achieve this, such as 'Color Texting Messenger', 'Cool Fonts For WhatsApp And Text' or 'WhatsBlue Text'. These apps are usually free, although there will be advertisements.

In the 'WhatsBlue Text' app, for example, there is a 'Fancy Text' option that allows you to type a message and it'll then be shown in various different formats, including in blue text. Then, you just click on the style or color you want and the app presents you with different options for using this text, with one of them simply titled 'WhatsApp'. By clicking here, you can then send this message to a contact in the messaging app.

How do you change the color of your WhatsApp status?

When it comes to chancing the color of the text of your WhatsApp status, the process is almost identical. On a third party app like 'WhatsBlue Text', you would follow the same steps as above.

But, when you then click the 'WhatsApp' option, instead of selecting a contact to send the message too, you would click 'My Status'.

You can then change the background color of your WhatsApp status, which is an option that exists natively in the app, and then, once you're happy with how it looks, you would just hit the 'Send' button.

Is there another way to change the text color on WhatsApp?

Yes, there is one other trick that can be used to change the font color. With this trick, you pick WhatsApp flag emojis for countries beginning with the letters you want, before hitting backspace to leave just the letter in blue. The below video shows you how to do this.

This method, though, takes far longer and that's why most people looking to change the text color on WhatsApp will opt for a third party app.

Bold font in WhatsApp

You can format your text partly or fully in bold before sending it to a recipient on WhatsApp. To do so, follow the steps below.

  1. Launch WhatsApp and open a chat where you want to send your message.
  2. Type a message as you’d normally do.
  3. Enclose the part of the message that you want to bold by surrounding it between two single ‘*’ characters. For example, to format the word “This is a sample bold text” in bold, type:
    *This is a sample bold text*
  4. Finally, hit Send to send the message.

Alternatively, you could also send bold-formatted text in WhatsApp via the built-in options. Before sending the message, just select the part of the message you want to format and tap on the selected text to reveal the contextual menu. On iPhone, choose BIU followed by Bold. On Android, tap on the meatballs menu (three-dot) icon and choose Bold.

Italic font in WhatsApp

Similar to bold formatting, WhatsApp also natively supports italics or emphasis. Follow the steps below to italicize or emphasize text in a WhatsApp message.

Continue reading below

  1. Launch WhatsApp and open a chat where you want to send your message.
  2. Type a message as you’d normally do.
  3. Enclose the part of the message that you want to emphasize (italicize) by surrounding it between two single ‘_’ characters. For example, to format the word “This is a sample italic text” in italic, type:
    _This is a sample italic text_
  4. Finally, hit Send to send the message.

Alternatively, you could also send italic-formatted text in WhatsApp via the built-in options. Before sending the message, just select the part of the message you want to format and tap on the selected text to reveal the contextual menu. On iPhone, choose BIU followed by Italic. On Android, tap on the meatballs menu (three-dot) icon and choose Italic.

Strikethrough font in WhatsApp

You can also strikethrough your messages in WhatsApp. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Launch WhatsApp and open a chat where you want to send your message.
  2. Type a message as you’d normally do.
  3. Enclose the part of the message that you want to strikethrough by surrounding it between two single ‘~’ characters. For example, to format the word “This is a sample strikethrough” in strikethrough, type:
    ~This is a sample strikethrough~
  4. Finally, hit Send to send the message.

Alternatively, there’s also the built-in option for strikethrough text formatting. Before sending the message, just select the part of the message you want to format and tap on the selected text to reveal the contextual menu. On iPhone, choose BIU followed by Strikethrough. On Android, tap on the meatballs menu (three-dot) icon and choose Strikethrough.

Change font type (Monospace) in WhatsApp

Finally, WhatsApp natively supports an alternative font called Monospace. To write your message (or part of it) in Monospace font, follow the steps below.

Continue reading below

  1. Launch WhatsApp and open a chat where you want to send your message.
  2. Type a message as you’d normally do.
  3. Enclose the part of the message that you want to change to Monospace by putting three ‘`’ characters (backticks) on either side of the text. For example, to format the word “This is WhatsApp Monospace font” in Monospace, type:
    ```This is WhatsApp Monospace font```
  4. Finally, hit Send to send the message.
Alternatively, there’s also the built-in option for Monospace text formatting. Before sending the message, just select the part of the message you want to format and tap on the selected text to reveal the contextual menu. On iPhone, choose BIU followed by Monospace. On Android, tap on the meatballs menu (three-dot) icon and choose Monospace.
Combine Bold, Italic and Strikethrough fonts in WhatsApp
You can also combine multiple formatting styles (bold, italic or strikethrough) for the same text fragment. If you’re using the character shortcuts (‘*’, ‘_’, ‘~’) for formatting, you need to be mindful of the sequence of characters.
A formatting character that begins first should be closed in the end, and so on. For example, to format the word “This is a sample multi-formatted text” in bold, italic and strikethrough in the same sequence, you need to type:
~_*This is a sample multi-formatted text*_~
Note: Currently, WhatsApp does not support the combination of Monospace with other native formatting options. Only bold, italic and/or strikethrough can be combined together.
Alternatively, you may use WhatsApp’s built-in formatting options. The steps are a bit simpler in this case. Simply select the intended text repeatedly and choose a different formatting option every time.
Note: If you include the special formatting characters while selecting the text to format, the current formatting will be replaced/overwritten. To apply multiple formatting styles, ensure that you leave out the special characters from your selection.
Use different font styles in WhatsApp (third-party solutions)
You can even apply other font styles and even character emojis to your WhatsApp messages, with the help of third-party apps.
These apps usually use Unicode characters to type stylized alphabets, numbers, and symbols into your chat messages, which are supported across all platforms. So your receiver doesn’t need any additional app (other than WhatsApp) to read your stylized messages.
On iPhone, this is achieved with the help of third-party keyboards, while on Android, you can directly copy specially formatted text from other apps into your chat message. Many of these apps are available in both the App Store and Google Play Store.
Apps like Better Fonts or New Cool Text on the iOS App Store offer third-party keyboards which can be used to directly type stylized messages on WhatsApp. Some apps, like Color Texting Messenger, also allow you to send customized, colorful text along with colored backgrounds (by converting them into images).
Note: Some of these third-party iOS keyboards may require Full Access to unlock additional functionality.
These third-party font styles can also be used with other messaging or typing apps other than WhatsApp.
On the other hand, apps like BlueWords or Fancy Text available on Google Play Store, offer similar functionality for Android devices. The special font styles provided in these apps are usually supported on both iOS and Android, without the need of any additional apps on the receiver’s end.
Bonus: Additional WhatsApp Font Tricks
In the previous section, we’ve said that the third-party font styles usually work on both iOS and Android platforms. Well, one particular font style bears an exception.
Send blue-font messages in WhatsApp (Android to Android only)
Certain third-party apps on Android (including BlueWords and Fancy Text) have the ability to send blue-colored text in WhatsApp messages. This is something that is exclusive to WhatsApp for Android. iOS users can neither create, nor read such messages written in the specific blue font.
Change font size and language in WhatsApp (Android only)
This is also an Android-exclusive feature, which is rather local and has no effect on how the other party. The font size setting is more of an accessibility feature meant for improving visibility within the chat screen. You can optionally increase or decrease the size of the text within the app (either “Small”, “Medium” or “Large”) depending on your convenience.
This can be done by clicking on the kebab menu (vertical three-dots) icon on the WhatsApp home screen, choosing Settings, then going to Chats >> Font Size, and selecting the appropriate font size.
Note: You can also modify the App Language from the same screen if you wish to use a local language within WhatsApp.
These are some of the popularly sought WhatsApp tricks related to font styles. If you know of additional text style-based tricks not mentioned in this article, you can share them in the comments below.
How to make colored text in WhatsApp and write in multi-colored letters
WhatsApp allows users to text and share files with each other. However, some users will find the built-in text formatting functions insufficient and will want to write original messages, for example, highlight the text in WhatsApp with a different color. To do this, you need to figure out what options for text formatting the WhatssApp application provides.
How to write in colored letters in WhatsApp
Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not provide the ability to change the text color. However, there are two ways to make colored text in WhatsApp - use a third-party application or print text on a picture.
In order to write in colored letters in WhatsApp using a third-party application, you need to follow a few simple steps:
  1. Go to PlayMarket, use the search to find and install the Text Art program.
  2. After downloading, open the program and select the "Text editor" section from the menu.
  3. Enter message text.
  4. Next, the text needs to be formatted and given the desired color.
  5. At the top right is the inscription: "Send via WhatsApp." After clicking on it, you will need to select the addressee, and the message will be sent.
There is a second way to write colored text in WhatsApp:
  1. Go to the desired chat and click on the Paperclip icon.
  2. Attach any monochrome image.
  3. In the toolbar at the top, select the "T" sign.
  4. Write the text of the future message.
  5. The sliders in the right panel allow you to select the text color and saturation.
  6. After writing the message, it must be saved and sent.
Thanks to these two methods, you can write in multi-colored letters in WhatsApp.
More WhatsApp text formatting options
In addition to changing the color of the text, WhatsApp allows you to change the font of the text, as well as strikethrough it. There are no text formatting settings in the application itself, however, this can be done using a combination of characters.
In order to write a strikethrough text, you need to use the tilde sign - "~". This sign must be placed directly in the text, highlighting the desired section of the message. You need to put "~" at the beginning and at the end of the text that you want to cross out.
In order to write text in italics, you need to use the lower character of the lower space "_". It should be placed at the beginning and end of the word or sentence to be italicized.
To write a message in bold, you need to highlight it with the symbol "*" on both sides without a space. After that, the text will be highlighted in bold.
It is also possible to write messages in the font used by the developers. To do this, you need to put ""`" at the beginning and end of the text, and then its style will change.
Although there is no text formatting in the WhatsApp application, you can change the color and font of the message using commands or third-party applications. Knowing the techniques of hidden text formatting in WhatssApp, you can easily diversify the correspondence, highlight important thoughts and give more originality to the text of the message.
Whatsapp color text generator [biography, status, font]
Content:
Just being part of a whatsapp group, I noticed that many people send different types of fonts and colorful text to whatsapp group chat and i wish i could do that since this feature is not available by default in whatsapp.
I soon realized that the style featured in WhatsApp is to use special characters on the keyboard, but colorful text and fancy fonts are other parts of the game.
I have searched for different ways and will share with you the methods that worked for me, the same that you can apply for yourself to change the text style whenever you want in your chat or for your whatsapp biography.
To change the font in WhatsApp, you can implement three different methods yourself. First of all, you can use symbols to make text italic, bold or strikethrough in WhatsApp chat. However, you can change the color of the text to blue using the Blue Text app as a keyboard and this tool will type colored text in WhatsApp for you.
I will include a fancy font generator tool that I developed for users who want to create colorful fonts, and with this tool you can create various types of fonts, you just need to copy and paste in your chat and send it to your friends.
In this article, I'll walk you through the step-by-step process, adding a graphical guide for each method so you can better understand the process and see the result you're about to get.
1. Change whatsapp font color [using apps]
To change text color in whatsapp chat or whatsapp status fonts , you can use color keyboard (any app to change text color) as whatsapp doesn't officially provide such feature.
You need to use Blue Text: Keyboard + Converter app. With this app you can change the color of your whatsapp suggestion or the text you have entered and you can set it as your default keyword and whenever you type anything in whatsapp chat it will take blue colored text , and the same will get support in friends chat.
Let's start with these steps to change fonts in whatsapp using app:
  • First of all, you need to install the Blue Text app on your Android device. After that just open the app and tap on the three line icon and then tap on the keyboard option.
  • You now need to enable the blue text keyboard on your mobile phone in order to use it in WhatsApp chat.
  • Now that you are on the keyboard, hold the space button on the keyboard and it will show the option to select a blue text keyboard for typing.
Now when you set WhatsApp Blue keyword for default text app, you can enter any text and send it to your friend in the same way, it will be delivered in blue.
This is all you can do for your WhatsApp colorful text, but the same app is only available on Android devices. This application can generate blue text and not other colors and this is definitely a shortcoming of this application.
⦿ Benefits:
i) You can add an unlimited number of texts by simply typing letters in a WhatsApp chat after enabling the keyboard on your Android device. To use it, you must set the keyboard as the default keyboard option, which you can change later by pressing and holding the spacebar button on your keyboard.
ii) You can enter text and just copy and paste it to whatsapp chat if you don't want to add keyboard as default keyboard option and this option is available in this app which is considered the best feature.
2. Color text generator
If you want to send fancy style text to your friends, online font generator tools can easily help you through the process. In this method, you just have to enter the text you want to send to the chat, and the same tool will generate hundreds of different fonts in front of you, and you can choose any font style to send to someone's Whatsapp chat.
To do this, you just need to copy this font from the list of different ones and just paste it into the chat and click on the send button, and the same style font will be sent to the person.
Follow the guide to change the font style:
Step 1:
First of all, visit the font generator tool on our website: go to Fancy Font Generator.
Step 2:
Now you will see the option to enter text, just put your text there and different types of biofonts will be generated and displayed for you. From the list of fonts, choose one for your whatsapp bio font and paste it.
Step 3:
Once the list of fonts is generated, you will need to click on the text you want to copy and just paste it into someone's whatsapp chat and the same format will be delivered in this style.
This is the simplest method where you can create different types of fonts with more styles and you can generate more fonts by clicking on the "load more fonts" button which will add some more fonts to the list. However, currently you cannot create colorful texts with this tool, instead you can add colorful emojis to make the text font stylish.
⦿ Benefits:
i) With one click, you can generate hundreds of fonts and use them as you wish. Also, you can download more if you need it.
ii) With the font generator, you can directly copy and paste text, even if it's a single word or a long tail sentence.
iii) The fancy font generator tool is actually free and easy to use and is supported on both PC and mobile browsers. For example, if you are on WhatsApp Web, just use it directly on your PC to enter and generate text and send it to your friend by copying it.
Note. If you are using an older version of your mobile device, be it iPhone or Android, you need to update your phone to the latest version, and all fonts that were not supported before will be supported after you update. on your mobile device.
3. Change font style in whatsapp without any app.
whatsapp provides its feature to bold, italic and strikethrough text when you send it in whatsapp chat, even private or group chat. By using these special characters at the beginning and end of text, you can change the font style of the text in the chat.
This is the easiest and most convenient way to bold or italicize text, and sometimes strikethrough any text. Alternatively, you can use the default font type, which is a monospaced text format, in the same way.
Yes, you have the right to use all of this feature at once in a sentence or in one message. These four features you can use in one message when you send any text and want to use it accordingly to add strong appeal to the message. Let's dive into the process of how you can do this and the special character you should use for this purpose.
? Create bold text in chat:
If you want to type text in bold, you need to add an asterisk * at the beginning of the text and at the end of the text. After you type a character in this way, your text will be in preview before you send it to someone else's chat and you can just hit the send button to deliver in that style.
The text style will be in effect while you are typing and closing the line following the asterisk * at the end. If you want to make text bold, you can use this feature in your whatsapp chat and also you can add it to your bio for any type of feature where text is allowed.
? Make italic:
Have you ever received text in italics in a WhatsApp chat? If you want to create stylish text, you need to add an underscore _ at the beginning and end of the text. After entering a character and closing it by adding the same character to the end of the line, you will be able to deliver the text in italics and the person will receive it in the same style and format as you.
You will, as always, see a preview in the chat and you can click on the send button, the same method that you can also follow from your WhatsApp network.
? Strikethrough texts:
If you want to strikethrough text on your WhatsApp, you need to use the ~ symbol at the beginning and end of the sentence or text that you want to send to a WhatsApp chat. Now you can just as well see a preview of what you want to send before hitting the send button in a WhatsApp chat where you can confirm and send it.
Although you want to strike out any text to make it stand out in a document or in a paragraph of sentences, this method will get you exactly what you want. Yes, you can use it for a single word and even multiple sentences with all the other features like adding emoji along with it.
? Special Font: Monospace
You can add a special font in whatsapp chat called monospace font which is a bit bigger than normal size, just add "`" character at the beginning and end of a sentence or word to generate such font in whatsapp chat. .
4. How to change the font in WhatsApp status or biography?
If you are using an iPhone, you can change the text font in WhatsApp with an online tool to protect the text and use it appropriately in WhatsApp chat. In addition, there are standard WhatsApp features available that allow you to send different styles of text using the special characters that I have already discussed above, you can do the same on your iPad or iPhone devices.
Whether or not I recommend using an online tool for this purpose, this is definitely the best option, you can include stylish text that will send you to WhatsApp chat since there are many types of fonts available.
