If you want to make sure you're not accidentally sharing your location information in Instagram posts, here's what you should know...
Instagram uses a variety of information gathered from your device to shape your experience. Even though tracking such data helps us to find unexplored places nearby that we might be interested in visiting, there are times when we don't want Instagram followers to know our location.
Instagram lets you hide your location so that you can share memorable moments without worrying about accidentally revealing your address or compromising your privacy.
Here's what you need to know about how to hide your location in Instagram posts, including those you have already published...
The first quick way to prevent Instagram from showing your location to your followers is to turn off the location in location permissions.
Instagram notes that its default setting for location is off, but you may want to double-check these settings in case you've changed it or have given access in the past.
Depending on the type of device you have, iOS or Android, you will follow a slightly different process.
Here is a brief look at the process for each...
Depending on the application, Apple allows its customers to disable location services entirely or control when an app can track your location.
Here's how you can customize iPhone location tracking:

Turning off Location Services will turn off location tracking for all apps, including useful ones such as Maps, Find My, etc.
Therefore, you will need to enable it again when using these apps in the future.
With an Android device, you can disable location tracking from the app permissions to prevent Instagram from posting your location.
To do this, follow these steps:

Once the permission is denied, Instagram will not track or use your location while posting anything on Instagram in the future.

Disabling location permissions will not remove location data from all published posts. To do so, you must remove the location from each post individually.

You can remove all your locations one-by-one by following the same steps.

When it comes to removing location from Instagram posts, the process is almost the same on iPhone and Android. The only difference on the screen is that you won't see the cross symbol—you'll see a popup saying Remove Location instead.
Tap on it, and your location will be removed.

Make sure Instagram does not track your location by turning location off in the app permissions.
So now you know how you can stop Instagram from adding your location to your posts and how to remove the location information from already published posts.
However, keep in mind that if you turn off location tracking, you won't be able to add geotags to any of your posts. When you're done with your private family tour, make sure you turn on this feature.
Sometimes its okay for others to know where you are at a given time. Other times it isn’t so okay for people to know where you are. Especially if you go somewhere regularly alone. While social media doesn’t have nefarious motives, they do like to know everything about you and your life and there will be times when that’s not okay.
That’s why we put together this tutorial showing you how to hide your location on Instagram.
Of all of the social networks currently available, I think Instagram is the most accessible. You don’t have to write anything and it is full of pretty pictures you just have to scroll through. If you can add your own, all the better. If you can do that without giving too much away about yourself, better still.
If you want to share a little but not too much, you can still share images and interact on Instagram without sharing your location. You just need to change a couple of settings.

Turn off location services on Android:
The exact wording for Android depends on what version you’re using and whether your phone has a manufacturer UI or vanilla Android. You should be able to figure it out though.
If they don’t work, you can also stop GPS altogether when using Instagram to stop it adding location to your posts.
If you have uploaded a bunch of posts with location data on them, you can remove that data even though the post is already published. You don’t have to remove it, you could just change it. I’ll show you both as it’s the same method anyway.
To change or remove a location from existing posts, do this:
iOS calls it Change Location whereas Android may call it ‘Select a Location Page’ depending on the app version. Either way, find the most suitable option and modify the location to something more suitable or remove it altogether.
All social networks like to harvest as much data as they can about you, your life, your friends and anything else they can make money out of. Some of it is okay and the price of using the network. Some of it is not okay and a little too much like spying. Wherever you sit on the subject, consider changing some of these settings for a little more privacy.
Showing when you were last active on any social network could be completely benign or a recipe for trouble. Either way, you can control whether you show this or not.
If you don’t want to be randomly tagged in a post, you can control exactly what and where you appear in Instagram.
From now on you will have to manually approve any image you are tagged in and can remove them from your Profile if you want to.
You can also remove the tag of you from existing images or video.
The image will remain in place but the tag naming you as a participant will be removed. The tag will not only be removed from your Profile but from all instances of the image or video however many times or places within Instagram it has been posted.
