How to request your Instagram data report
Instagram rolled out a tool that allowed you to download your data back in 2018, around when the Cambridge Analytica scandal hit. The tool was also to comply with changes to European data privacy rules. Originally, it was only available on the web, but it's now on Instagram's iOS and Android apps too.
If you on a browser, follow the instructions below:
- Login to Instagram
- Go to Settings
- Go to Privacy and Security
- Scroll down to Data Download
- Select Request Download
- Submit your email address
If you're using the Instagram iOS or Android app, follow these steps below:
- Open the Instagram app
- Tap on the account tab in the bottom right corner
- Tap on the three lines in the top right
- Tap on Settings
- Select the Security tab
- Select 'Download data'
- Select Request Download
- Enter your password
When can you download your Instagram data report?
Within 48 hours of making your request, Instagram will email you a link to a file with your photos, comments, profile information, and more.

How to view your Instagram data
If you don't want to wait for your data report to arrive via email, you can login to Instagram and view all your account data by category. You can see when you joined Instagram, all your privacy and password changes since you've joined, who is following you and who you've blocked, all your logins and logouts, former usernames and full names, complete search history, and so much more.
- Login to Instagram
- Go to Settings
- Go to Privacy and Security
- Scroll down to Account Data
- Select View Account Data

- Open Instagram and tap your Profile.

- Select Privacy and Security.
- Scroll down to Data Download and tap Request Download.
- Enter your Email → select the Information Format.
- Here, enter your Password → tap Request Download.
Note: While downloading the data, request in machine-readable HTML or JSON format to view a copy of everything you’ve shared on Instagram.
Download your data from Instagram on Mac or PC- Login to Instagram → open your profile.
- Click the Gear button.
- Select Privacy and security.
- Scroll down to Download data → click Request download.
- Enter the email where you want to receive the data.
- Select the Information format → click Next.
- Next, enter your password → click Request Download.
You will be informed that Instagram has received your request and will be delivered once it’s collected all the data.
FAQsQ. Does Instagram data download include deleted chats?
No. Downloaded Instagram data won’t include deleted data. You will only receive photos, videos, and messages that are not deleted.
Q. How long does it take for Instagram to send your account data?
Usually, the time taken by Instagram to send your account data depends upon the size of information your account has. According to Instagram, this will take a maximum of 14 days.

WhatsApp chats can be configured to be automatically copied daily and saved to your smartphone. If the user decides to uninstall WhatsApp, they will need to manually back up their chats. To do this, open WhatsApp, click "More Options", select "Settings" → "Chats" → "Backup Chats" → "Backup".

To submit a request to upload an archive of tweets, the user needs to click the "More" icon in the navigation bar to go to the account settings. Dropbox Paper docs must be converted to one of the following formats to download to PC: DOCX, MD, or PDF. To do this, click "..." (ellipsis) in the document, select "Export", select the file format to download and click "Download".
The DOCX format will only be compatible with Microsoft Word, not Google Docs or OpenOffice.
Apple Notes
Most users sync their notes with iCloud accounts. To upload notes from iCloud on Mac, you need to:
- click on the Apple logo in the upper left corner,
- select "System settings",
- select iCloud,
- tick Notes,
- select the note or notes to be uploaded,
- click on "File" on the top and select the option "Export as PDF",
- name the file and specify its location on a Mac,
- click "Save".
Windows users must first install the iCloud app on their computer and then sync their notes with Outlook. In the iCloud app, you need to:
- check "Mail, contacts, calendars and tasks",
- click "Apply" at the bottom,
- Run Microsoft Outlook on your computer,
- go to "File" → "Options" → "Advanced",
- click "Export".

All iCloud notes will be available in the selected folder on the computer.
Trello
The export function can be found in the Board menu → More → Print and Export. The information is downloaded in JSON format. It is currently not possible to import the archive back to re-create a Trello board.

Trello Premium allows you to export all boards in your workspace in CSV and JSON formats. Also the user can include all their attachments as a ZIP file in their own format. To do this, go to the Premium Workspace page and select the Export tab.
Notion
To create an archive, you need to go to "Settings and members" at the top of the left sidebar, select "Settings" in the sidebar of this window, scroll down and click "Export all workspace contents" (Export all workspace ). The user will then receive an email from Notion with a link to download the files. The link will expire after 7 days.

For Enterprise members, this option can be disabled at the administrator's discretion to keep documents available for internal use only. Enterprise plan users can export their workspace as PDF files.
You can upload individual images, HTML, Markdown, PDF and CSV tables on the service. To do this, click in the upper right menu "...", then - Export, and select the desired format.
