Create Your Own Viber Community
In order to open your Community, follow the next simple steps: open the chats list screen and tap on the add new button to choose the “New Community” option. Select contacts you’d like to promote to an admin status (more on that later) to add to your Community and choose a name for your Community.
Then pick out an icon and write a short description to let your members know what your Community is all about. Once you’re ready to go, tap “Done”.
Next Steps: Become the Superadmin You Were Born to Be
Each Community has three types of participants. As the creator of the Community, you are the superadmin and get the ultimate control over the chat. The Community admins you chose when you first opened your Community serve as the its moderators and your members take part in the Community’s active conversation.
As a superadmin you get to:
- Promote members to admin or superadmin status
- Add or remove Community members
- Pin messages in order to start a group discussion or raise awareness to a certain topic
- Delete one or all messages written by specific members
- Publish public links to invite new members
- Decide whether all members of the Community can share its link
- Control admins’ and members’ writing privileges
- Customize the community’s image, description and name

While superadmins have the ultimate say on everything to do with the Community they’ve created, admins help them manage the Community and its members.
An admin can:
- Add or remove Community members
- Pin messages in order to start a group discussion or raise awareness to a certain topic
- Delete one or all messages written by specific members
If someone is a Community participant but isn’t a superadmin or admin, they have the no-less important role of being the Community’s members. While they don’t have any control privileges, they are able to do the following things:
- Send and reply to any type of message with text, a GIF, stickers, video message, etc.
- Mention other users within a message by typing “@“ in the chat and choosing the chat member they wish to mention
- Mute notifications

Communities has more enhanced group chat features than any regular Viber group chat! As part of Viber’s ongoing commitment to security and privacy, Communities protect your privacy by ensuring that your number remains hidden from other members in the group.
