How to make a private page public on facebook

How to Make a Facebook Business Page Private in 2 Ways

  • You can make a Facebook business page private by unpublishing it, which will make it invisible to the public.
  • To make a Facebook business page private, head to your page's settings menu using the Facebook app or website.
  • Making a Facebook business page private is especially helpful for when you need to make edits or update information, but don't want anyone to view the page half-finished.

To make a Facebook page private, you'll have to unpublish it — this will give you time to make changes without the public seeing. To unpublish a Facebook business page, you'll have to head to its settings on either your mobile app or desktop browser.

Unpublishing it will render it temporarily private, and you can publish it again at any time. You may find this feature helpful when you need to make edits — whether they are quick fixes or major updates to the page.

Unfortunately, there's no option to make a Facebook business page permanently private to only certain people, as the point of a business page is to promote something to the public. If you're interested in making a more exclusive space, you may want to create a private event or group instead.

It's also important to note that people who have roles on the business page will still be able to view it, regardless of whether it's unpublished or not.

Here's how to unpublish your Facebook business page using the Facebook website on your Mac or PC, or the Facebook app on your iPhone or Android device.

What does making a Facebook page private mean?

If you make a Facebook page private, it means that the general public won’t see the Facebook page even if they have liked or have been following your Facebook page.

The Facebook page and all of its content will be hidden and only the Facebook page admins, editors, and Facebook page moderators, so anyone with Facebook page role access will be able to see the Facebook page and its posts.

The name of this feature that you can use to make a Facebook page private is called ‘Unpublishing a Facebook page.’

You have to keep in mind that by making a Facebook page private, none of its content (posts, videos, images, and likes) will be lost, so you don’t have to worry about losing Facebook page followers.

If you want to completely delete a Facebook page, check out that tutorial.

However, if you only want to make the Facebook page private and keep its content, keep reading as in the next section, we are going to show you step by step how to activate this feature.

How to make a Facebook page private?

To make a Facebook page private:

  1. Select the Facebook page you want to make private
  2. Scroll down on the left sidebar, and click on ‘Settings’ with the gear icon
  3. In the ‘General’ tab under ‘Page Visibility’ click on ‘Edit’.
  4. Select ‘Page Unpublished’
  5. Click on ‘Save changes’
  6. You will see the following pop-up window where you have to select an option.
  7. Select anything and click on ‘Next’

So that’s it, now your Facebook page is private and only you and your Facebook page team member will be able to see it until you don’t make it public again.

How to make a Facebook page public again?

If you made the changes you wanted to make to the Facebook page or for any reason you want to make the Facebook page public again, it is really easy to unhide a Facebook page, and make it public again.

There is no time limit on when you can make a Facebook page visible again. So if you change your mind at any time, just go through the following process (which is pretty much the same as the process we have just shown above):

  1. From your Facebook newsfeed click on ‘Pages’ on the left side of the screen
  2. Select the page you want to make public again
  3. Scroll down the left sidebar, and click on ‘Settings’ with the gear icon
  4. In the ‘General’ tab click on ‘Page Visibility’.
  5. Select ‘Page Published’

There you have it, your Facebook page is public again, so anyone can see the Facebook page and can access all of its content unless they have been banned from your Facebook page.
