How to get instagram music on business account

How to Get Music on Instagram Reels if You Don’t Have the Full Audio Selection — Your Social Team

Written By manoela muraro

Great news everyone: Business accounts do not have to switch to Creators to get music in Reels

Everyone loves Instagram Reels. Mostly because it’s one of the 3 most effective ways to grow Instagram followers today, along with Instagram Live Rooms and Giveaways.

But one aspect of Reels is driving people a little nutty (if my DMs are any indication!): our inability to add “real” music to our Reels in Business accounts!

Most business accounts on Instagram do not have music from recording artists. The reason for that is because of this “little thing” called copyright.

As businesses, we are not legally allowed to use the latest Taylor Swift for example, in videos (or Instagram Reels) promoting our brand for our own profit, even if not directly.

That’s why Instagram doesn’t give you the music feature in stories (and now Reels) if you have a business account —if your business account is an exception to this rule, don’t be surprised if it disappears soon!

So while writing to Instagram to complain or pouting won’t do us any good, here are the 5 things we can actually do to add audio to our reels.

How to get music on your Instagram Reels if you don’t have “real” music in Stories and Reels music button

Here’s a new hack to get access to the FULL music library on Instagram Reels and Stories, even if you’re a business account: switch your account category to Entrepreneur.

Here’s how to do that:

If that doesn’t work for you, as Instagram can be inconsistent, here are other options to jump into the Reels trend, even without all the latest music available to your Instagram account in Reels and Stories via the music button:

1) Record our own original audio for your Instagram Reels

Reels don’t all need to have a famous song and a person jumping up and down while magically changing outfits (even though those can be pretty entertaining).

You can also use your own voice as your audio track.

You can do this to:

  • voice your opinion about a topic your audience cares about

  • share knowledge in your niche

  • tell a story (“how I got started” for example)

  • give updates about yourself or your business

  • engage your audience with something fun, like I did in this example below

Don’t forget to add some fun Reel Covers, to make your Reel stand out in your feed and grow your number of views

How to add your own original audio to Reels:

  • Record your Reels speaking to the camera

  • Use the voice over feature inside Reels or inside another editing app, we love and recommend InShot

  • If you want audio from another Reel or TikTok, use your phone screen recorder to record your screen, bring your video to InShot, extract audio (that feature is hidden on the volume option)

If you use Canva, we have some amazing templates for FULL Instagram Reels made in Canva.
designs you can mix and match and add in between your on-camera Reels to have more impact!

2) Use someone else’s original audio

Just like on TikTok, when you see someone else’s Instagram Reel, you will be able to click on their audio to see other Reels with that same audio and use their audio in your own Reel.

And while businesses won’t be able to use copyrighted music if they click on an audio from someone else’s Reels, there are plenty of people who have original audios that you can click on and use.

To do that:

  • go to the explorer page and click on Reels on the top.

  • scroll until you find one that says “Original Audio” in the bottom and that you like that audio to use in one of yours.

  • click the original audio and it will open a page where you can see others who used the audio and also a button to use audio

  • that will open your Reels camera with the audio already there and you will hear it as you record.

3) Pre-produce your Reels to include any music or sound you like

Fun fact: Most TikToks we see are pre-produced, which means they are created outside of TikTok and just uploaded later. If you want to go that route, you can use apps like Splice, InShot, or even TikTok itself, where you can combine voice and music.

Note that no matter where you add your music to your Reel, it does not change the copyright laws. But these apps usually also allow you to add royalty-free music, which are okay to use, and can be great background sounds for your Reels with voice over.

4) Use royalty free music in your Instagram Reels

You can also use royalty-free music in your Reels. Facebook Creator Studio has a free music library available that you can access through the music button even if you’re a business account. Some business accounts have seen the music button added back to Reels and Instagram Stories, where you can see the generic music you can use in your Reels.

5) Change your account to a Creator account to get access to music in Stories and Reels (but there’s a catch!)

You will lose the ability to plan your posts for auto-publish through scheduling apps like Later or Planoly, which in my eyes is not worth it (auto-publishing saves you a ton of time and is good for your mental health, too!).

Now if you’re a business and want to switch to Creators just to get the music feature, think that this type of account was not made for businesses and even though you’d have the technical ability to use music from a button, you’re still a business stealing copyrighted music for your own promotions, so still not legal —this would be the same to say any business can use your Instagram content to promote themselves just because they have the Repost app. Makes sense?

Reels is new, but there are already lots of original audio options you can use and there will be more and more fun mashups and original audios you can use as time goes by.

How to find Reels music even if you have a Business Instagram Account

Everyone is talking about Instagram Reels and the massive reach this new content type is generating! Catchy tunes, cute dances, pointing fingers and bite-sized tips are taking Instagram by storm!

But creating an Instagram Reel can be a little confusing when you start out. Particularly the music side of things.

If you're using a business account on Instagram you (generally) won't have access to use music from recording artists - the music that has the name of the artist and song in the title. This is because it is a copyright issue.

So we have two options:

1: We can use 'Original Music' from others who have uploaded the song we want to use. The key is to look for song titles that include the words 'Original Music'. These are often the songs we know and love, the popular ones we want to use, just uploaded by an individual.

OR

2. We can edit our profile and change our category to 'Entrepreneur'. This seems to unlock ALL music. (You can hide your category on your profile so no one sees this.)

Number 2 is the easiest option but may not work for everyone. To do this:

  • Open your Instagram app
  • Head to your profile
  • Click Edit Profile
  • Click on your category, search for Entreprenuer, select it and click Done
  • Click on Profile display and switch off the toggle next to Display Category label
  • Click Done and then click Done again

You may need to close down your app and reopen it. This should unlock the popular music.

To use Original Music:

So we start by scrolling Reels to find the audio and then we use it ourselves or even save it to use later. This is also a great way to get the creative juices flowing and generate a tonne of ideas for your Instagram Reels.

How to add audio to your Instagram Reels, even if you have a business account, and I'm not talking about just the royalty-free music. I mean the good stuff.

So, first of all, we're going to open up Instagram.

Now, what are we going to do is click on the Reels icon at the bottom in the centre.

And then we're just going to flick through some Reels until we find audio that we like.

So, for example, if I liked this audio and I wanted to use it again, what I would do is click on the audio in the bottom left-hand corner.

And then I have the option near the top there to save audio, so if I was to click on this, this would save the audio for me to use in the future.

But if I wanted to create a Reel right now and use that audio, then of course, I would just click on the 'Use Audio' button down at the bottom there and create my Reel.

Now, to find that saved audio there's a couple of ways that we can do it so we can head back here and click to create a Reel. So we click on the camera icon at the top right. And then when we click on 'Audio' on the left, we can see all of our saved audio sitting right there under saved.

Now, the other way that we can access that saved audio is we can head all the way back to our account and click on the three lines at the top right. And then we want to choose 'Saved'.

And we now have a wee folder sitting there with all of our audio ready to go.

How to Insert Music in Instagram Stories - Adding a Track Snippet

Inserting Music in Instagram Stories is a long-awaited feature for thousands of users in Russia. While the whole world was enjoying the opportunity to listen to Stories with music and add tracks from the music library to Instagram, Russian bloggers tried in every possible way to get around the existing restrictions. Now Instagram users in Russia breathed a sigh of relief - complex manipulations are no longer needed, music can be added to Stories easily and completely legally using the functionality of Instagram itself. nine0003

Music in Stories: what is it and why?

Stories is one of the popular content formats on Instagram, but until June 22, 2021, a standard sticker with music in Russia was not available in Russia. And although some users found "loopholes" to voice their stories, doing so was quite inconvenient. Today, this feature has been implemented for all accounts - both for personal pages and for business profiles, it is not difficult to add music to Stories on Instagram. However, there are a number of features that are worth familiarizing yourself with. nine0003

Differences in the set of tracks for personal and business accounts

Depending on the profile category (personal account or business profile), the user is offered one or another music database. To date, Instagram provides about nine thousand tracks for commercial use - that is, a truncated base.

Personal profiles that can use all the music featured on Instagram include bloggers, writers, gamers, photographers, artists, and more. The reduced base is offered to shops, brands, websites, hotels and a number of other categories, the full list of which can be found in the profile settings. nine0003

Some Instagram users may be tempted to move their business profile to another category in order to be able to use the full library. However, experts do not recommend doing this. Instagram has implemented sophisticated algorithms for analyzing content and tracking music copyrights, so there is a high probability that Instagram will recognize illegal use of content, which is fraught with the removal of Stories and blocking offending accounts. Another unfortunate consequence may be getting a lawsuit demanding compensation to the copyright holder of the music for its use for commercial purposes by a third party. nine0003

Use of music in promotional stories

Purely theoretically, a blogger can use music in advertising integrations in the Stories format, but in practice it is better not to publish such content, since no one has canceled the copyright law - the author of Stories, even if he is registered as a blogger and has access to the full music database , has no right to use the music for commercial purposes, as it does not have a license for this. And advertising, in whatever form it is presented, is in any case commercial content. Thus, despite access to an expanded database of music, SMM experts advise against abusing this opportunity when it comes to advertising. nine0003

How to add a track fragment to Stories and other features when creating content with music

Instagram developers have tried to make the function of adding music to Stories as simple and clear as possible. Let's take a closer look at the main points.

How to add a track fragment to Stories

Step 1. Create a story and find the Music sticker

When you create a Story at the stage of editing a photo or video, you can add filters and other stickers. Among them, “Music” has now become available to users of the social network from Russia. If there is no icon with a note symbol on the screen, then you should click on the button for adding stickers and find among them the one that says “Music”. nine0003

Step 2. Add a music sticker to Stories and select a track

When you click on Music in the list of stickers, a list of recommended tracks is displayed on the screen. But the track you need can be found through the search. If you're adding music to a personal account, you're more likely to find the track you're looking for, but if you're posting a story to a business account, you'll have to choose from what's available.

Step 3 Customize the Sticker Appearance

Users have several options for displaying the music sticker. If the text of the selected song is in the Instagram database, then the selected lines with animation (like karaoke) will appear on the screen. Moreover, their font, color and appearance features can be customized. If there is no text in the database, or you do not want to use animation, you can choose one of the proposed sticker options with the album cover image, artist name and song title. After that, click the "Finish" button. nine0003

Step 4. Choose a location for the sticker

After the sticker is ready, you need to choose a place for it on the screen. It can be tilted, resized, moved around the screen. In a word, do everything the same as with other stickers.

How to listen to the whole track

Instagram makes it possible to listen not only to a fragment of a song included in the History, but also to the entire track. To do this, when viewing a story, you need to click on the sticker, and the entire melody will open from below in the form of a simple player. nine0003

How to find out more about the artist

You can not only listen to the whole song, but also learn more about the artist of the song. To do this, click on the author's name and his account will open.

What to do if the music sticker is missing

According to Instagram representatives, music stickers will appear among Russian users of the social network gradually. Thus, some bloggers will have to wait a few days, and possibly weeks. You can try to speed up the process in the following ways: nine0003

  • update Instagram app
  • check that the VPN was not turned on (it is very likely that the social network "thinks" that you are in another country and does not include music stickers)
  • log out and log in to your account, reinstall the mobile application

However, such methods may not help. So it's best to just be patient.

In conclusion, we would like to note: do not ignore the new functions and options of social networks. Any of them can be your “lucky ticket”, because you can’t predict exactly what your audience will react to. Therefore, the best solution is to try different ways to draw attention to your profile, use new non-standard solutions, connect your imagination and try to give your audience something new, special. In this case, your subscribers will undoubtedly respond to you with attention, increased engagement and increased loyalty. nine0003

How to add music to Instagram? Add music to stories with Android in 2021

It is worth adding music to photos in stories, as viewers get even more pleasant emotions from viewing them. Sounds create a certain mood, enhance perception. This is especially important for commercial accounts. Music helps to attract attention and encourage you to click on a link or write to Direct and order a product. nine0003

And those who post stories for friends can entertain them not only with pictures, but also with music, cheer up or create a certain atmosphere. How to add music to Instagram? Unfortunately, this possibility is officially closed for users of some countries, such as Ukraine and Russia. However, there are ways to decorate your stories with music. Let's consider a few of them.

How to add music to Instagram stories?

If you're in a country where you can add audio tracks to Instagram, use the Music sticker on the stories themselves. A selection of ringtones will open. You can rewind the track to the desired segment so that it sounds in history. nine0003

Important! Some songs are copyrighted. For violation of the rules, Instagram blocks stories. Keep this in mind, especially if you run a business account.

There is a way to open access to Instagram Music:

  1. Delete the application from your smartphone.
  2. Enable VPN.
  3. Change geolocation to another country and download the app.
  4. Change geolocation. Please enter your country.

This method may not always work. If you change the geolocation that shows data about the country in which the user is located, the option to add the "Music" sticker will appear. However, audio songs added to the story in this way will not be played by viewers in countries where this feature is not supported. They will see the inscription "Instagram music is not available in your region", only the photo will be displayed. Therefore, there is little point in such manipulations.

Turn on music while recording a video for a story - the easiest, but not the best way to add audio accompaniment. The sound quality will be poor, and the system may block the story for copyright infringement. Even if you have purchased this song, it is most likely intended for personal rather than public use. Someone may complain. It can be ill-wishers or competitors of your business. nine0003

Another way to add music to history without third-party programs is to use screen recording. Activate this function on your smartphone, open the desired picture. Turn on the audio composition in the player and at the right moment click on the screen recording button.

Important! Keep in mind that the duration of the story demonstration is 15 seconds.

How to add music to Instagram story using the app?

There are several programs that overlay sounds on videos or photos. They are combined and saved as a file, which is then uploaded to Instagram. They are easy to use. The principle of operation for all programs that add audio to the story is similar. It is not difficult to understand it - read the inscriptions on the buttons. When the program is opened for the first time, tutorial tips are shown, following which you will master the editor on your own. nine0003

The ways to add music to Instagram in 2021 remain the same. Unfortunately, the developers did not please users of Ukraine and Russia with the ability to add audio to stories directly in the application. Therefore, we will consider 3 third-party programs for musical processing of photos and videos.

InShot

Let's take a closer look at this service. He is the most popular. Download it on the Play Market and open it. The main page will appear, where there is a choice of processing options "Video", "Photo" and "Collage". In this application, you can overdub multiple audio tracks at the same time. For example, record a voice story and add music in the background. The service has a minimum of advertising, which is very nice. nine0003

Attention! Upload an image for processing to the Video section, not the Photo section. The ability to add music is only in the video section!

In the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, you will see the available functions. Click the "Music" button and go to the "Songs" section. There, select the desired option:

  • Open a song from the catalog of works without copyright.
  • Extract from video.
  • Download from the device memory through the "My Music" tab. nine0076
  • Record sounds, music or speech in the background.

To insert music from the program's library, go to the collection. Premium subscription tracks are marked with a crown icon. Free compositions without notation.

Tracks can be listened to and selected. To install it, click on the pink cloud icon. Then a pink "Use" button will appear. Click on it and the music will open in the editor.

Then adjust the sound of the song. Choose a fragment that will sound in the story. Adjust, if necessary, attenuation or amplification of the melody. nine0003

The file can be sent directly to Instagram and published in the feed or in the story. Save your changes. Send a file directly from this app to Instagram or upload it from your device storage later.

StoryBeat

This application is specially designed for editing photos for stories. It is easy to use. This service adds not only music, but also video effects. To upload music, click Add Music to Photo or Video. Tracks are inserted from the free music library or from device memory. You can select the desired passage. A sticker with the name of the song is placed automatically. If you do not need it, click on the cross. nine0003

The program cannot add voice recording via microphone. Only ready-made audio compositions are loaded. The ads are pretty intrusive.

VivaVideo

This application is interesting in that you can not only add music, but also make slideshows of photos, record and process videos.

Important! Please note that processed slideshows and photo films from the application may “slow down” when playing on Instagram.

To add music to the story:

  • Click on the "Edit" block on the left.
  • Select an image to process and click the Music icon in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
  • Download one of the suggested songs or attach a track from the device's memory.
  • Set the slider to the beginning of the piece of music from which it will be played as a sound background to the story.
  • You can listen to the result and save the file.

This application also allows you to send the processed image with music directly to Instagram. Another way to upload it to the social network is to go to your account and add it already from the device’s memory.

In order to decorate your story with music, you will have to make some efforts: install the application, upload an image and the desired audio composition to it, save the file and send it to Instagram directly from the editor, or add it later through your social network account. But, thanks to this, your stories will become even more diverse and interesting. And if you run a business on Instagram, then this is a great marketing ploy. nine0003
