App got worse after no choice then having to update

What happened to what’s app after the update. It got worse. What about being able to delete what you sent on both sides nit just from my chat, it used to not any more! You said there were improvements? Not at all! Improvements doesn’t mean to take away what worked well for many. improvements is enhancing adding not removing what works. What a disappointment this app fell short! Many feel the same! Security? That probably won’t be secure either anymore! Let’s see what will happen going forward with all the breaches and the unsecured and less encryption . I can go on and on. If you say you will improve, then do as you promise! What happened to what’s app after the update. It got worse. What about being able to delete what you sent on both sides nit just from my chat, it used to not any more! To delete messages for everyone:

1. Open the WhatsApp chat containing the message you want to delete.
2. Tap and hold the message :: tap **Delete**.
* Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once.

3. Tap the **trash can** icon :: **Delete For Everyone**.

**Note**:

* In order for messages to be successfully deleted for everyone, both you and your recipient must be using the latest version of WhatsApp.
* Recipients using WhatsApp for iOS may still have media you sent saved to their Photos, even after the message is deleted from the WhatsApp chat.
* Recipients may see your message before it's deleted or if deletion wasn’t successful.
* You won’t be notified if deleting for everyone wasn’t successful.

Couldn’t ask for a better app to communicate with loved ones

I absolutely adore this app. It keeps me connected with my friends and family at all times. The chat features are amazing. One of the features I love about WhatsApp is the saving a chat message which has the star icon. I use it all the time to save important and special sweet messages from my friends and family. WhatsApp even lets me look at all the saved messages in that conversation under the contact which I really appreciate. WhatsApp settings are very easy to get around with and with no problems. Another feature I love is the Preview feature. When I’m going to a public place where I could possibly forget my phone somewhere and I don’t want my messages to be seen or in another case I want privacy I use that feature. I also like the customizable sound notifications for each contact. I absolutely am grateful for this app!

Never seen a more garbage communication app

Just to clarify I have been using WhatsApp for several years, if I had to guess it would be over 4 years, I have plenty of friends that use it and swear by it but I cannot fathom how frustrating it is to use sometimes. I came on here to express one thing and one thing only.

Many of my colleagues use this app to video chat and to send text. I have added many contacts using WhatsApp however when I try to send a message or call these new contacts i am left with only inviting them to use the app, rendering the app completely useless at times. Allow me to specify my problem.

Say for example I added a new phone number in my contacts list. I close the app to then open WhatsApp, I try to search for the new contact. I find the name, but when I try to send a message the only choice I have is to invite. This is mostly frustrating when I first add someone but I have contacts from a year ago that still need an invitation when they so clearly use the app on a daily basis. As long as this problem persists I don’t see myself using the app long term, if it wasn’t for this issue I would be ecstatic about the development. For now I’m disappointed and at a loss of words for how I would feel going forward.

A phone always has to be connected

Unfortunately, the fact that the app is connected to your phone is both an advantage and a disadvantage. Your mobile device will need to be connected at all times that you are using WhatsApp for Windows. To reduce your data usage, make sure your Android or iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Some options are missing

There are a few unexpected flaws with the desktop app. A few options are missing, such as the ability to contact people through voice and video calls. With WhatsApp for Windows 10 PCs, you also cant share your current location.

Alternative programs

If you're looking for other platforms, there are a couple of similar apps you can try.

LINE for Windows works the same way as WhatsApp, but you wont need a constant phone connection to use the desktop program. Instead, you'll enter a one-time password and get access to your account on your computer. You'll still need a working phone number, though, so that requirement remains consistent.

You could also pick up Telegram for Desktop, but you'll still need a mobile account like with LINE and WhatsApp. This program is also available for Mac.

If you don't have a reliable number, IM+ is a great option. It combines all of your messaging services for popular accounts like Facebook. Its a good alternative, especially if you want to keep all your messages in one place.

Effortless desktop chatting

For those who do a lot of work on their computer throughout the day and do not want to worry about having to switch between devices, downloading WhatsApp for Windows is the right call. Our only hope for the future is that we will be able to enjoy this app without having to have our phones connected.

Even though there are some minor annoyances and missing features, this desktop version of the globally popular messaging app is convenient and well designed. Once this app can work independently, without the connection of a mobile device, it will be a must-download for every WhatsApp user with a Windows PC.

    Russians can no longer download WhatsApp for Windows and macOS from the messenger website. The reason for the blocking has not been established, but when the IP address is changed from Russian to foreign, access to files is reopened. Previously, the same thing happened with Windows OS distributions - they can no longer be downloaded from the Microsoft website while in Russia.

    WhatsApp - not for Russians

    Residents of Russia have lost the ability to download WhatsApp to their computers. They were denied access to distributions for Windows and macOS, posted on the official website of the service.

    The CNews editors made sure that it is impossible to get the WhatsApp distribution kit from a PC running Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 11 and macOS. In other words, it does not depend on the operating system. There is also no connection with the browser - an attempt to download the file ends in failure at least in Chrome, Vivaldi and Firefox.

    At the same time, at the time of the publication of the material, the link to download the APK distribution of the messenger for Android from the official website was still working. The messenger was also available in the Russian version of the Google Play app store.

    You can no longer download WhatsApp from Russia

    WhatsApp is the most popular in the world with over 2 billion users (Statista.com data January 2022). In Russia, it is preferred by 64% of users (Statista.com, March 2022).

    Mysterious lock

    As of 9:30 a. m. June 29, 2022 Moscow time, WhatsApp representatives did not comment on what was happening. According to the SecurityLab portal, the site from which distributions are downloaded (fbcdn.net) was blacklisted by Roskomnadzor by decision of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office dated February 24, 2022 No. 27-31-2020 / ID2145-22.b. The editors of CNews made sure that at the time of publication of the material there was no corresponding entry in the register of prohibited sites. This solution allows you to block entire social networks or individual pages in them, as well as entertainment web resources, online media and websites of IT corporations.

    The WhatsApp messenger has been around since 2009 and since 2014 has been owned by Meta Corporation, formerly known as Facebook. At the end of March 2022, Meta was recognized in Russia as an extremist organization, and its social networks Facebook and Instagram were blocked throughout the country.

    WhatsApp avoided such restrictions, probably due to its popularity in Russia. Meanwhile, in the domain of the site from where its distribution is being downloaded, there is an abbreviation FB, apparently referring to Facebook.

    Non-obvious suspect

    There is a possibility that the initiator of the shutdown of WhatsApp distributions is either Meta itself or the US government. Such a precedent has already been set.

    The WhatsApp download page works, but, in fact, it is now useless for Russians

    In June 2022, Russians were banned from downloading images of operating systems from the Microsoft website. At first, the suspicion fell on the company itself, but later it turned out that this decision was lowered "from above". At 29June 2022 Microsoft has neither confirmed nor denied this.

    Meta, like Microsoft, is one of the largest US IT companies. It cannot be ruled out that the excommunication of Russians from the desktop version of WhatsApp may also be the result of a “request” by the country's leadership.

    How to solve the problem

    You can still download WhatsApp from the official website while in Russia. To do this, as in the case of Windows, you only need to deceive the messenger website and convince it that the connection is made from any other country in the world, except Russia.

    This will require spoofing the IP address by any means available. The CNews editors checked the efficiency of this method. For example, when using the IP address of Poland or Germany, no restrictions were observed in downloading distributions.

    Another option is to use WhatsApp Web, the messenger version for browsers. At the time of publication of the material, there were no restrictions in its work when connecting from Russia.
