Delete your Business Manager

Once you delete your Business Manager, this action can't be reversed. When you delete a business, you also delete the content you've created, managed, shared and used.

When you delete a business, it permanently erases:

  • Event source groups
  • Asset library
  • Projects

When you delete your business, we'll also remove any access you have to another business like their Pages, ad accounts and Facebook pixels. Any permissions you've shared with another business will also be removed.

  • Pages: Pages added to your Business Manager can be moved to a different Business Manager or be moved back to the personal profile of the Page owner. For example, if someone shared access to their Page with you, that Page gets reverted to their personal profile. Likewise, if you created the Page yourself, it gets reverted to your personal profile.
  • Ad accounts: When you delete your Business Manager, any ad accounts associated with your Business Manager are permanently deleted.

Note: Not all Business Managers are eligible for deletion. If you're having issues, troubleshoot why you can't delete your Business Manager.

All people with roles in your Business Manager retain their assigned level of permission to each Page and ad account. To continue working on Pages and ad accounts, people should use their personal Facebook account to access them.

Before you begin

You must be an admin of the Business Manager you want to delete.

Delete your Business Manager

To delete your Business Manager:

  1. Open Business settings.
  2. Click Business info.
  3. Click Permanently delete business, and follow the onscreen instructions.

To ensure the security of every business, your business will be pending deletion for 24 hours. After 24 hours, deleted businesses can't be reopened.

Note: Business Account roles are gradually changing. Instead of roles, we will describe people’s access or the tasks they perform. For instance, Everything will replace Business admin, Basic will replace Employee, and Apps and integrations will replace Developer. The access itself will remain the same.

  • You can delete a Facebook business page permanently in a few quick steps.  
  • Unpublishing your page may be a better option when you just want to remove it from public view.
  • Facebook page administrators are the only users allowed to delete or unpublish a page.

Creating a Facebook business page is a fairly quick process. Removing or deleting a business page is quick, too.

There are two ways to "remove" a Facebook business page from public view. You can delete a page (remove it forever) or change the page's status to "unpublished." 

Quick tip: You must be a page administrator to change the visibility of a page or to delete it.

How to delete a Facebook business page

Deleting a page is permanent. You will receive no email notice from Facebook confirming your deletion. Your page will just disappear on its scheduled date. Be sure you're ready to remove it before you begin.

1. Switch to your Facebook page's profile and click this link to get to the Settings & Privacy screen.

2. Click the View button beside Deactivation and deletion.

3. Click Delete Page and then Continue and follow the prompt.

Your page is now scheduled for deletion. It will be deleted after 14 days. You can cancel a deletion by going to your page and clicking Cancel deletion at the top of the page. The page will no longer be recoverable once 14 days have passed.

How to unpublish a Facebook business page

Unpublishing a page removes it from public view. This might be useful when you want to update or make a change to your Facebook business page. It can be reactivated at any time. 

1. Switch to your Facebook page's profile and click this link to get to the Settings & Privacy screen.

2. Click the View button beside Deactivation and deletion.

4. You'll have to answer a few questions about why you want to unpublish the page, and then click Deactivate.

How to remove a page from your Business Manager

Removing a page from Business Manager is for situations when you no longer want to manage the business page but also don't want to delete it. You must be an admin of the page in order to do this.

1. Go to Business Settings and select the business account that you want to manage.

2. Locate the page that you wish to remove in the list of pages and click on the Trash can icon to remove it.

Only a user with the administrator role can perform this action. The business manager removal operation consists of the following steps:

  • Go to the business manager settings using the "Company Settings" button or by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right;
  • In the global menu on the left, scroll down and select "Company Information";

  • Enter the business manager password.
