If you want to start using Telegram to message your friends, here’s how to get everything set up.

1. Install the Telegram app. Open either the App Store or Google Play and search for Telegram. Find the app with the paper airplane logo and install.

2. Enter your phone number. After flipping through the welcome screen, you’ll be prompted to enter your phone number. Telegram will immediately send you a text message with a four digit code to verify that it’s your real number. Enter that code into the app to continue.

3. Add your name and a picture. Telegram lets users create their own profiles, complete with name and picture. Enter this information to continue.

4. Find a friend with Telegram. Telegram can automatically search your contacts for friends who use Telegram if you grant the app permission to access your address book. When you tap the Contacts tab at the bottom left of the screen, Telegram will show a list of your friends who use Telegram followed by contacts currently not signed up for the app. You can send an invite to join a chat by tapping on a friend’s name that’s not yet using Telegram.

5. Start a regular chat. Select a friend who has a Telegram account to start a new chat. Similar to WhatsApp and other traditional texting apps, there’s a text field at the bottom of the screen that’s used to type messages.

6. Send a photo, Web image, video, document, contact or your current location. Unlike most messaging apps, Telegram lets you send a wide range of information to your friends. Tap the paperclip icon next to the chat text field and choose the type of information you want to send. You can choose to immediately take a photo or video, or select one from your library. There’s also an option to search the Web for an image, which opens a search prompt that shows only image results.

If you want to send your current location to a friend, select the Location option and approve that app’s access to your current location. Your friend will then be send an interactive map with you as a pin, which can be useful for finding each other when out and about. There’s also the option to share documents and contacts, for when you need to share a file or pass along someone’s information.

7. Start a secret chat. From the Contacts tab, select the option that says New Secret Chat and then select a friend’s name. Any messages sent in this window are encrypted, meaning that no one else will have access to the chat, even Telegram. You can send texts, media and documents just like you would in a regular chat.

You can also choose to make secret chat messages self-destruct, which means they’re securely erased after a set time. In a secret chat, tap on your friend’s name at the top of the screen > tap the Info button > and go into the Self-Destruct Timer settings. Choose one second, two seconds, five seconds, one minute, one hour, one day or one week.

8. Adjust your chat background. In the Settings tab at the bottom right in the app, you can choose an image for your chat backgrounds. Telegram has a large selection of images to choose from, allowing you to customize the look and feel of your chats. There is also the option to select an image from your photo library to use as a background for a more personal touch.

Telegram is among the best messaging apps for Android. It packs a plethora of features and provides a messaging experience that other chat apps can't compete with. Telegram is available across all major platforms and works on the best Android phones. But you don't always need an app to use the messaging service. You can use Telegram from any web browser. Read the guide below to learn how to set up and use Telegram on the web.

You'll need a Telegram login created in the Android or iOS app

You can only use Telegram on the web if you are an existing user. You can't create a new Telegram account from within your web browser. You must use Telegram's desktop or mobile app to sign up for the service.

How to use the Telegram web app

You can easily access the Telegram web app from a computer browser. This is a handy option for using the messaging service when you are on a public PC or using a friend's laptop or a family's computer for work.

Telegram Web works across all major browsers like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Mozilla Firefox. It is platform-centric, and you can access it on any modern operating system. This even includes your mobile phone, iPad, or another tablet.

You must have access to an active Telegram session on your phone or PC. If not, you cannot log in to Telegram on the web.

Open Telegram Web on your PC. A QR code appears on the screen.
Open the Telegram app on your phone.
Open the Settings menu.
Tap Devices.

Telegram Web provides essentially the same experience as the desktop and mobile apps. The best part is that you can use Telegram Web to make voice calls from your browser, though the device must have a built-in microphone.

By default, Telegram on the web uses the light theme, but you can enable the dark mode. For dark mode, click the three-dot menu button in the upper-left corner near the search bar and enable the Night Mode option.

You can bookmark the Telegram web app link to quickly access it on your work computer. This way, you can access your chats and continue conversations without installing an app on your PC.

Unlike Telegram on mobile or desktop, you cannot start an end-to-end encrypted secret chat from the web app.

Telegram Web K vs. Telegram Web Z

Telegram has two versions of its web app: Web K and Web Z. There isn't a default version. The web app you are served with varies depending on your region. There are minor UI differences between the two, but they are identical in terms of features.

How to install Telegram on Android

Then, when you log in to your smartphone, a message with a code will not be sent to your phone in SMS, but to the active account of the web version.

The settings in the web version are poor, but the main ones are there.

By simply closing the browser, you do not log out of your Telegram account, and the next time you open the interface with messages. This should be borne in mind if you logged in from someone else's computer.
In this case, you must press the button Log out , which is located in the menu Settings at the very bottom. Or you can end this session from your phone or from another device if you forgot to do it right away.

Regarding the installation of the Russian language...
There are online versions with Russian localization on the net, but this is the work of third-party people.

Whether or not to use these products, you must decide for yourself. If the language is so important to you, it's better to use the desktop version. More on that below.

How to install Telegram on a computer or laptop

In order not to get stuck with browsers, you can install the stationary version on your laptop or desktop computer.
It is Russified, has much more settings than the Web version, in general, is more convenient.
The only thing you can't do is start a secret chat. This option is available only in the mobile version.

To install on a computer, proceed as follows:
