Tired of all those people tagging you in weird stuff on Instagram? Well, there's an easy way to prevent people from ever tagging you in one of those silly posts again. It's simple, too. It only takes a couple minutes of your time, but will probably save you from years of embarrassment (or however tagged photos make you feel).

To stop people from tagging you without your approval, head on over to your profile page, then tap the hamburger menu icon in the top-right corner of the display. Next, tap "Settings, " then "Privacy," then "Tags." Check out "Allow Tags From." By default, "Everyone" will be enabled, which allows Instagram users to tag you without issue. Instead, you can choose "Only People You Follow," which will only allow people you follow to tag you, or "No One," which will stop anyone from tagging you in their posts.

Even if you choose "Everyone" or "Only People You Follow," you don't need to let these tags automatically go through. Instead, enable "Manually Approve Tags." If you are tagged in a new photo, you'll now have the option to add it or hide it from your profile page. It will also alert you when you are tagged in a new photo, allowing you to remove yourself from the post as quickly as possible. To approve that tagging, head to Settings –> Privacy –> Manually Approve Tags –> Pending Tags. You can also tap the photo or video in question, select your username, then tap "Show on My Profile" (iOS) or "Show in Your Profile" (Android).

Mentions

You can also find these same options for @mentions. "Everyone" will allow anyone to @mention your account, "Only People You Follow" allows your followers to @mention you, and "No One" blocks all users from @mentioning you.

Stop People From Tagging You On Instagram

Table of Contents

By default, anyone can tag on you in photos or videos they post on Instagram. Besides, people can also mention you to link your account in their stories, comments, live videos, and post captions.

At times, it can be embarrassing to deal with these tags. Thankfully, Instagram gives you full control over who can tag you, if any approval is required, and whether you can be tagged in other places like captions, comments, and stories. Read on.

Method 1- Stop Others from Tagging You in Instagram Photos or Videos

The easiest way to stop others from tagging you in Instagram posts is by turning off tags. Once you disallow tags, no one will be able to tag you in their photos and videos. When they try doing so, they’ll see if you don’t allow tags from everyone.

  1. Open the Instagram app on your phone.
  2. Go to your profile, open the hamburger menu, and select Settings.
  3. Here, select Privacy and then Posts under Interactions.
  4. If you don’t want anyone to tag you, select No One.
  5. Or, if you want to allow tags from people you know, select People You Follow.

Method 2- Require Approval to Be Tagged in Instagram Posts

Instagram also lets you manually review and approve each tag. Once enabled, you can approve the tagged posts before they can appear on your profile. This can be handy when you don’t want to turn off tags yet control which tagged posts appear on your profile.

  1. Open the Instagram app and head to Settings > Privacy > Posts.
  2. Next, click on Manually Approve Tags under Tagged Posts.
  3. Enable the toggle for Manually Approve Tags if not already.
  4. Here, you can see all the Instagram posts you’re tagged in.
  5. You can also see click on Pending Tags to view and approve tags pending approval.

Method 3- Remove Yourself from Tagged Photos or Videos on Instagram

If you want to untag or remove yourself from Instagram photos and videos that appear on your profile, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to your Instagram profile and click the Tag icon to see all the posts you’re tagged in.
  2. Tap the photo or video you want to untag yourself from.
  3. Click the three-dot menu and select Tag Options.
  4. Select Remove Me From Post to untag yourself.
  5. If you just want it to remove from showing up in your profile, select Hide From My Profile.

You can also use these steps to remove tags from posts pending tag approval shown in the second method above.

Method 4- Stop Others from Mentioning You in Instagram Caption, Comments, Stories, Live Videos

Lastly, you can prevent others from mentioning your account in their post captions, comments, stories, and live videos. This can be very useful, especially when you want to eliminate unwanted spam, such as being tagged in a giveaway or promotional comments.

  1. Go to your Instagram profile and open the hamburger menu.
  2. Select Settings and click on Privacy.
  3. Then, select Mentions under Interactions.
  4. If you want to stop everyone from mentioning you, select No One.
  5. If you want to stop mentions from only unknown people, select People You Follow.

Instagram's new feature allows you to stop being tagged in your photo

I don't know about you, but I'm already pretty tired of spammers who tag me in their Instagram photos several times a day. Every time I have to go into a mention, report that I’m not in this photo (indeed, where does it come from on a 100-dollar bill), and make a report to the Instagram administration - report spam. Apparently, the photo service itself also understands the scale of this problem, so the other day Instagram on the iPhone has new features that allow you not only to manage marks, but also comments on your posts.

Now you can use Instagram even more comfortably

How to stop being tagged on Instagram

The new setting will help you permanently solve the problem with unwanted tags.

  1. Go to the tab with your profile, click on the button with three stripes in the upper right corner and select "Settings";
  2. Then go to the "Privacy" tab. Here you will see two menus that we need - "Marks" and "Mentions";
  3. You can't figure it out without a navigator

  4. Actually, these are the very settings that will save you from marks and mentions from spammers and strangers. You can completely close the opportunity for others to mark you, or leave it only for people you follow.
  5. Avoid being tagged by spammers

Tagging also has a "Manually Approve Tags" feature so that a user who tries to tag you will see if you allow it.

How to delete several comments on Instagram at once

Even small Instagram accounts sometimes have problems with an influx of unwanted comments - mostly from spammers, although there are also completely inadequate personalities. Not to mention large user pages like AppleInsider.ru on Instagram or, for example, a cool blog about life in Spain. This interferes with the discussions of other users, so the application has a new comment management feature.

  1. Open comments on any photo;
  2. Press the top right button with three dots;
  3. Select Manage Comments;
  4. Here you can delete up to 25 comments at a time.
  5. This feature has been a long wait

A really useful feature. Our Telegram chat at least has a spam filter that doesn't let bots and spammers through, but Instagram doesn't have this feature yet.

Another innovation of Instagram was the ability to mark the comments that the author of the post liked and "raise" them to the top. So far, the functionality is not available to everyone (we, for example, do not have it), but in the next few days it will appear on all accounts. If you haven't got your new comment settings yet, try refreshing Instagram or downloading the app and launching it again.

Instagram for iPad

With all the desire of the photo service to implement new features in the application for the iPhone, the developers still cannot release the version of the most popular application for the iPad. In Instagram itself, they say that the problem lies in the lack of staff. Seriously? A company that has long been owned by Facebook and uses the infrastructure and resources of this social network, does not have enough developers who could adapt the application for the iPad? Even the creators of small applications are able to cope with this task on their own.

Perhaps Instagram has already tried to make an application for the iPad, but something did not work out for her, and she was forced to abandon this idea, however, not wanting to admit it to her fans and upset them. Indeed, due to the fact that some tablets have a rather large screen resolution, developers would probably have to change the method of processing photos that are uploaded to the platform so that they look equally good on both iPhone and iPad.

Previously, Instagram disabled likes for all photos in the service. At the same time, the column with the “I like” marks is still in place. You can click on it and see who liked the photo or video. And, if such a need arises, you can even count their number, but only manually. This was done both in order to take care of small bloggers who have few likes, and to increase the audience.
