By Khizer Kaleem
Want to get rid of annoying notifications from Facebook? Here's how to block all notifications from the app and website.
Over time, Facebook has become so engrossing that users spend hours on the app without even noticing. A simple notification from someone you know can turn into an hour-long session of browsing and scrolling.
This has led to many people exceeding their desired screen time. Are you looking for a way to reduce the use of Facebook? If so, turning off notifications with a few simple steps can benefit you greatly.
Benefits of Turning Off Facebook Notifications
Facebook is one of the top social media apps out there, but people often want to turn off their notifications. Some benefits of blocking all Facebook notifications are as follows...
Less Stress
Work, family time, and financial responsibilities can get so tiresome that people need some time away from everything. In such a scenario, a simple notification with some news or message can ruin your mood.
That’s why people should turn off their notifications every couple of days to give themselves time to relax and refresh for the coming days. Releasing stress away from the screen can have a number of mental health and productivity benefits.
Better Concentration
Let’s face it—we run to grab our mobile phone the second its screen brightens for a notification. This can be really distracting if you’re trying to work or study.
By stopping Facebook notifications on your mobile and desktop, it is possible to concentrate on the task at hand.
Healthy Lifestyle
Addiction to social media apps can lead to a sedentary lifestyle and lack of activity. Instead of spending time clicking every notification you receive on Facebook, we recommend going out to grab some fresh air and refrain from using the phone.
More Confidence
Avoiding social media can improve your confidence if you're prone to social media comparison. You get time to focus on yourself, elevate your confidence level and encourage yourself to embrace rather than fall victim to a comparison trap.
How to Block Facebook Notifications

How to turn off Facebook notifications on Android
If you had read my previous post on how to sync game progress on Android, you would know that I own not one, but two such devices. One annoying problem I've had with serving multiple devices is multiple notifications. Every time I received a new notification, friend request, or Facebook message, both of my devices would notify me at the same time. Gets irritated after a while.
Gmail, Google+, and Facebook were the three most annoying apps when it came to multiple notifications, and deleting apps on one of those devices was not a solution I agreed to. So, to start, today I will try to disable notifications from Facebook for Android.
Even if you don't have multiple Android devices, it's not necessary. In this post, we will not only show you how to turn off all notifications, but also talk about turning off notifications from individual friends that you want to ignore.
So let's get started...
Disable all notifications
The first thing we'll see is disable all notifications from Facebook on Android. If you use Jelly Bean on your device, you can directly turn off the app drawer notification for the Facebook app in Android settings. We have already seen how this is done in one of our previous articles.
If your device has not yet received the Jelly Bean update, you will need to disable these notifications in the Facebook app settings.
Open Facebook for Android on your device, open the application menu and select Settings. Scroll down to find the notification option there. If you want to turn off all notifications from the app (comments, wall posts, messages, etc. ), just uncheck this box.
However, if you only want to disable certain messages, such as messages and wall messages, you will have to uncheck the corresponding boxes. You can also leave all notifications active but turn them off or just turn on vibration. When you're done, just hit the back button to save your settings.
This is how you can turn off all or some specific types of notifications. Let's now see how you can turn off message notifications from certain friends.
Mute certain friends
Open the Facebook application and click on the button with three lines in the upper left corner to open the navigation bar. With this panel, you can easily navigate from one section to another. Click the search field at the top and enter the name of the contact you want to block. Click on a friend's name in the search results to open their wall.
Click on the message button on his wall to open the messaging page. If you've recently chatted with this friend, you can open the conversation window by using the message button between notifications and new friend requests.
You must now press the information button in the upper right corner. Here you can turn off the notification from this conversation. You can either disable notifications permanently or turn them off for a specific period of time. If you go within a limited time, notifications will be automatically enabled for that friend after the time expires.
Conclusion
So you can turn off Facebook notifications on Android and limit it to only one of your many Android devices (if you have more than one). I hope this comes in handy. I am sure that the second part of the post about turning off alerts from certain contacts will be useful to many. After all, we all had Facebook friends like that, right?

Now that you've learned how to disable Facebook notifications for Android, you probably have a few more questions about how to get the most out of social media, or at least I wish it bothered you less in your day to day life. Therefore, we have shared some basic tips for the platform. Check it out below!
Turn off your Facebook for a while
You must have thought or are thinking about getting rid of your Facebook once and for all. However, it always ends up coming back, especially for the time he has already invested in the social network and not to lose what has already been published. But did you know that you can deactivate your profile for a while, as if you were on vacation?
You can do this seamlessly by simply going to Facebook's general settings. Then look for option Disable your account . After that, friends and users will no longer be able to find you on the social network. However, your account will not be deleted and you can start using social networks again at any time. Just sign in to your account, both from the website and from the Android app.
Upload your Facebook data
Do you feel that deactivating your account is not enough and have decided to close it permanently, but the fear of losing everything you have posted remains? No problem! Thanks to new European Union regulations, users around the world can now upload all their data to Facebook.
As we have shown in the process of deactivating your account for a while, the ability to download your information from Facebook is also available in the general settings of the platform. Go to it and find Download a copy of your Facebook data.
In a few minutes, Facebook will send you an email with all the data you have shared on Facebook since you created your profile. Photos, recordings, videos and personal information will be stored in a file attached to the email you used to register. With backup, you can delete your account without any problems.
Turn off notifications in comments
Even if you turn off notifications on your phone, they will appear when you open the app. If a comment on any post is from a big portal or posting a controversy with a friend, it's likely that your screen notifications are well-filled.
You can easily turn off notifications for this particular message. Even if you have 1000 other comments, you still won't get any notifications except when they tag you.
To turn off notifications for posts you are commenting on, open the post and click the ellipsis icon. The icon will be in the top corner of the post. Then press Turn off notifications for this post, to no longer receive notifications of new comments.
Put someone to sleep
You only learned how to turn off Facebook notifications in comments, but did a particular friend actually make you do it in almost every post? So maybe it's time to put it to sleep.
The repeat mode is a recent feature of Facebook. In it, you do not stop subscribing for an indefinite time and do not block the user, but hide your posts for 30 days. This time may be enough for your posts to stop being so cumbersome and things to calm down.
For this, the process is very similar to turning off notifications for a specific post. Go to that user's post and click the same ellipsis icon. Then choose " Hibernate [profile or fanpage] for 30 days" .
