Instagram introduced several features in 2020, designed to curb cyberbullying on the social media platform. The idea of the features - which include the ability to bulk delete comments - is to help people with many followers maintain a "positive environment".

So if you're wondering how to delete multiple comments at once, block several users, or pin positive comments to the top of your post, you're in the right place.

Here is how to bulk delete comments, block multiple users on Instagram and how to pin comments to make sure you're always seeing the good ones, rather than negative ones.

Instagram offers the ability to delete up to 25 comments at once. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Instagram app
  2. Tap on the post with the comments you want to delete on your profile 
  3. Tap on a comment under the post
  4. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner 
  5. Select 'Manage comments'
  6. Select the comments you want to delete
  7. Tap on 'Delete' at the bottom of your screen

It's worth mentioning you can turn off commenting altogether, and you can also choose certain words or phrases to hide from your posts, stories, reels and live videos.

To do this, follow steps 1-4 above, but rather than selecting 'Manage comments', tap on 'Comment controls'.

How to control who can tag and mention you on Instagram

Along with being able to delete multiple comments, you can also control who can tag or mention you in a post, comment, caption, or story. It is likely mostly something people with large followings may wish to use, especially if they suffer from frequent online bullying, though that could of course affect anyone.

You can choose between everyone, people you follow, or no one. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Instagram app
  2. Tap on the three lines in the top right corner
  3. Tap on Settings
  4. Select Privacy from the list
  5. Tap on Mentions
  6. Choose the option you want

How to block people on Instagram

You can block as many users as you like on Instagram. If you block someone, they won't be notified, but any comments they have posted prior to you blocking them won't be removed. You'll need to do that manually. 

To block someone on Instagram: 

  1. Open the Instagram app
  2. Tap on the three lines in the top right corner of the app
  3. Tap on Settings
  4. Select Privacy from the list 
  5. Tap on Comments
  6. Tap on 'Block comments from'
  7. Type in the people you want to block
  8. Tap on Block next to their name

Instagram allows you to pin comments to the top of a post. You can pin three comments, with the idea being it allows you to highlight positive reactions to your content.

To pin comments to the top of a post, follow the steps below: 

  1. Open the Instagram app
  2. Tap on the post on your profile with the comments you want to pin
  3. Tap on a comment under the post
  4. Swipe right to left on a comment you want to pin
  5. Tap on the pin icon
  6. Tap on 'Pin Comment'
  7. The person who made the comment will be notified that you've pinned their comment

Remove Your Facebook Account From Instagram

To make sharing easier, Instagram allows you to link your Facebook account to the app (and vice versa.) If you want to prevent people from finding you on Instagram, we advise against it.

Linking the two accounts means both apps will have access to the others’ friend list. So whenever a Facebook friend of yours creates an account on Instagram, your profile will show up as a friend suggestion. Since this is something we want to avoid, go ahead and remove your Facebook connection from Instagram.

  1. Open the Instagram app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on your circular profile icon on the bottom right.
  1. Go to the hamburger menu located in the upper-right corner of your profile and select “Settings” from the menu that pops up.
  1. Scroll down and tap on “Accounts Center” at the bottom.
  1. Tap on “Accounts” under the “Account settings” section.
  1. Press on the “Remove” button next to your Facebook account name.
  1. Instagram will ask you to confirm whether you want to “disable connected experiences for your account.” Tap on the blue “Continue” button.
  1. Confirm your choice by pressing the “Remove” button on the next screen.
  1. You can also do this from Instagram on PC. On your feed page, click on your profile icon in the upper-right corner of the display.
  2. Select “Settings.”
  1. On the left side, scroll down and click on the “Accounts Center” option.
  1. Select “Accounts” on the left and then click on your Facebook account.
  2. Press the “Remove” button next to your Facebook account.

Once you unlink your Facebook account, you will no longer risk appearing as a friend suggestion for any of your Facebook friends joining Instagram.

Make Your Account Private

Setting your account to private is one of the easiest ways to make your profile less visible. Even if someone does eventually find you, they won’t be able to see your posts unless you give them express permission to do so.

  1. You can activate the privacy mode on mobile by heading to “Settings -> Privacy.”
  1. Then toggle on the “Private account” option at the top.
  1. On PC, go to “Settings -> Privacy and Security” and tick the “Private Account” option.

Remove Your Phone Number from Instagram

Before you go ahead with removing your phone number from Instagram, keep in mind that you won’t be able to have the two-factor authentication feature enabled. You also need to have a verified email address for this to work, since Instagram does require at least one verified way to contact you in case of emergency.

You can disable two-factor-authentication by going to “Settings -> Security -> Two-Factor Authentication” and turning it off from there.

  1. To remove your phone number, tap on the profile icon and select “Edit profile.”
  1. Swipe down to “Personal information settings.”
  1. Delete your phone number from the dedicated field.
  1. On PC, click the “Edit profile” button next to your Instagram profile name.
  1. Scroll down and make sure the “Phone number” section stays empty.

Once your phone number is removed, people who have saved your digits to their mobile won’t be able to find you once they activate “Connect Contacts. ”

Speaking of which, you’ve probably used the option yourself back when you were setting up your Instagram account for the first time. Still, if you wish to stay hidden, you should relinquish this functionality. You’ll need to use your mobile device for this.

  1. Go to “Settings -> Account” on your device.
  1. Hit the “Contacts syncing” option.
  1. Disable “Connect contacts” from there.

Prevent Your Friends From Finding You in Similar Accounts

The person you’re trying to hide from can easily find you if they happen to follow an account similar to yours. To prevent this from happening, go to Instagram on your desktop browser. Strangely enough, you won’t be able to turn off this option from your phone or tablet.

  1. Go to your Instagram profile on your PC and hit the “Edit Profile” button, just like we showed you above. Scroll to the bottom, where you’ll see a box you can uncheck that will prevent your account from appearing in any similar account results.
  1. Click on the blue “Submit” button.

From here, it’s also possible to add or remove your phone number, in case you didn’t follow the steps described above.

If you want even more privacy, turning your online status off is a step in the right direction. To hide your online status from others on Instagram for mobile:

  1. Go to “Settings -> Privacy.”
  1. Tap on “Activity Status.”
  1. Toggle off the “Show Activity Status” button. If the button is blue, that means it’s on, and if it’s gray, it’s off.
  1. Alternatively, you can do the same from PC. Just go to “Settings -> Privacy & security” and uncheck the box next to “Show Activity Status” on the right.

Block Certain Accounts

Want to make absolutely sure someone can’t find you no matter what? Block their account if you know their username.

  1. On mobile, simply navigate to their profile and tap on the three-dot menu in the corner of the display.
  1. A pop-up menu will show up from the bottom of the display. Select “Block” from there.
  2. On your PC, find the three-dots next to their Instagram user name and select “Block” from the pop-up window.

Temporary Deactivate Your Account

The only way to be 100% sure someone will never find you is if you erase your account. But since that’s a bit drastic, you can opt instead to temporary disable your account and get some peace of mind.

This means your photos, likes, and comments will be hidden until you decide to log back into the app.

Note: You can only deactivate your account once a week.

To deactivate your account you must use Instagram on a PC or log into your account into a mobile browser.

  1. Go to your profile and press the “Edit profile” button.
  2. Click on the “Temporary deactivate my account” option at the bottom.
  1. Select a reason why you’re deactivating your profile and type your password once again.
  1. Click “Temporary Deactivate Your Account” and then “Yes” to confirm your choice.

Can I control who messages me on Instagram?

If you wish to control who you interact with on Instagram via Direct Messages you can. Go to “Settings -> Privacy -> Messages” and set up “Message Requests” for people who follow you and those who don’t. This means Direct messages won’t automatically go to your Instagram Inbox, but will be lodged in a “Request” tab from where you can quickly delete them. Also make sure you tweak the settings for who can add you in “Group chats” and to “Groups” if you don’t want to socialize more than you have to.

How do I remove an Instagram follower?

Go to your profile and tap on “Followers” next to your profile picture. The list of accounts that follow you will become visible. Tap on the “Remove” button next to the account you want to get rid of to delete them from your list. Instagram won’t notify that particular account that you’ve removed it.

If I block an account, can the person behind it still contact/follow me via another account?

Unfortunately, yes. This is why we recommend making your account private, so you can screen any account that wants to follow you and identify any potential shady accounts you don’t want to have in your list.

Instagram is a great platform for sharing photos and keeping up with the latest trends and trends in 2021. Also for viewing and commenting on what family and close friends post.

However, you may not want everyone to see your posts, especially if they may be considered inappropriate by some people.

Whatever the reason, blocking someone on Instagram is pretty easy if you know what you're doing. If you choose to hide your content from someone, they won't be able to find your Instagram profile, your messages, posts, or view your stories. Also, he will not be able to write you messages or comments.

How to block someone on Instagram

However, the user will not be notified that they are blacklisted by someone. He will only know about it if he logs into your account and sees that there are no publications available for him.

And he can still tag an Instagram account in his posts. These mentions won't show up in your notification stream while that person is blocked.

How to blacklist Instagram

Instagram cares about everyone's safety and comfort, so it makes it easy to blacklist someone.

The Instagram app is available for Android, iOS and Windows platforms and can be used to quickly block another user on Instagram by following these steps.

  1. Open Instagram and go to the profile you want to block. This can be done by clicking on the name from anywhere in the application's interface.
  2. The user profile page should now be visible. Click on the menu button located in the upper right corner of the screen and represented by three dots.
  3. When the pop-up menu appears, select the Block button.
  4. A warning will appear asking if you are sure you want to block this account. Confirm the action.
  5. A confirmation message will now appear indicating that the user has been successfully locked out. Click "OK" to complete the process.

How to block on Instagram via computer

You can also blacklist people through the official website of Instagram. To do this, you need to log into Instagram from a computer.

If you don't have the app or are on a platform that doesn't support it, you can still block via computer on the Instagram website.

  1. Open your browser and open the site.
  2. Open the Profile of the person you want to send to the block. This can be done by clicking on the account name from anywhere in the Instagram interface.
  3. The profile page should now be displayed. Click on the menu located on the right side of the account name and represented by three horizontal dots.
  4. You should now see a popup menu overlaying the main Instagram screen. Click on the "Block this user" button.
  5. A warning will appear asking if you are sure you want to blacklist this person. Press the action confirmation button.
  6. A confirmation message will now appear stating that this person was successfully sent to the block. Click the "Close" button to complete the process.

View all blocked users on Instagram

If a lot of bots, haters and spammers got blacklisted in a short period of time and you are afraid that you might accidentally send the wrong users to the blacklist. So you need to see a list of all accounts that are in the block. To do this:

  • Open your profile in the app.
  • Click on the three horizontal bars in the top right corner.
  • Select "Settings" at the bottom.
  • Go to the "Privacy" section.
  • In the "Contacts" subsection, select "Blocked accounts".

There you can see all blocked profiles. If necessary, you can go to them and unlock them. If you don't want to block the user completely, you can hide the Instagram story.

We haven't answered questions in our #AskAskSMM column for a long time. Today we want to share with you a simple instruction on how to block and, if necessary, unblock any Instagram account, as well as where to find the list of accounts that you have added to the black list.

Remember that when you block a user on Instagram:

  • , he will not be able to access your profile, view your stories, subscribe to you, comment and like your posts;
  • You can unblock a user whenever you want;
  • the user will not know that you blocked him or vice versa unblocked him. He will not receive any notifications about this. However, if you block some stalker, then without finding your profile, he will be able to guess that he was on your blacklist.

How to block a user on Instagram

Step 1: First of all, open the profile of the person you want to block.

To find the desired profile, you can use the search in the application (tab with a magnifying glass symbol), click on the username next to the photo he posted, or go to his account through his comments.

Step 2: Next, click on the three horizontal dots in the upper right corner of the screen.

Note: I'm using the first profile I came across purely as an example 😉 It's not a bad account! :))

Step 3: Click Block.

Step 4: Click again on the “Block” option in the window that opens up.

Step 5: Finally, click on the word “Reject” to close the box. This is a bit of a crooked translation from Instagram, which means "Close window" and not "Reject action". .. back.

Step 1: To do this, simply go to the profile of the desired user and click on the three horizontal dots in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Then click on the "Unlock" option.

Step 3: Finally, in the window that opens, click on "Unblock" again and you're done!

Step 5: Click on the word Reject to close the box.

How to see the users you have blocked on Instagram

In order to quickly find the profiles of all users that you have blocked on Instagram, you need to follow two simple steps.

Step 1: Log in to your Instagram profile by clicking on your profile photo at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Next, click on the wheel icon as shown in the picture below. Through this icon you get to the settings of your Instagram account.
