How to allow repost story on instagram
Why can't I share Instagram stories?
Why can’t I share Instagram stories?
“I can’t share stories.” It’s one of the most tragic phrases of this year, and it stalks groups of friends from all over the world. But don’t worry, because with this post we are going to solve it ????
How to share stories on Instagram
To share a story in which you have been mentioned, you must follow this process.
1 – In a story, use the mention sticker or directly type “@tunombre”. Several suggestions will appear, in which you will have to choose the profile you want.
2 – Publish it in “Your story”.
3 – In the direct messages of the mentioned person will notify them that they have been mentioned.
4 – In that KO you will have the option to share in your story!
Just like that? Not at all, because it does not always appear in your messages, or it is not possible to share it. Let’s look at other solutions.
Activate “Allow sharing” in Instagram
The most typical reason is that the person who publishes the original story has not allowed their followers to share.
To mark it, go to your profile -> Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Story Controls -> Shared Content.
There you have several options:
Hide your stories to contacts
Choose your list of best friends to show stories only to them. Choose who can respond to your stories (for top influencers) , Save the publications in the archive or gallery.
Shared content.
In the latter is where you have to check the box to make it blue. In other words, your contacts can share your stories if you mention them. Other reasons why you can’t share Instagram stories
Private account in Instagram
Even if they have allowed sharing in their settings, it is not possible to share user stories with private accounts.
You are not mutual followers in Instagram
The mention may have reached the inbox, but it is in the message request panel.
Instagram’s history has expired
It is also possible that the story cannot be shared… because 24 hours have passed and it has disappeared.
You were wrong to mention the user of Instagram
Make sure that everything is well written and that you have chosen the right profile while making the mention. It is possible that if you did not have an internet connection at the time of publication, the profiles were not loaded correctly.
The Instagram application is not up to date
It is not a common cause, but it has happened that the application was not updated, or that even the smartphone model does not allow it.
Despite following these steps, we have asked several influencers and some of them are still unable to share stories in which they have been mentioned, while others mentioned in that same publication have.
It’s something that happens sometimes, and we don’t find the cause despite all the tests we’ve done. If you want to know more about social media visit our instagram influencers page.
We hope that Instagram will solve it very soon!

Can’t Share Someone Else’s Instagram Story? The Reason & a Workaround
You’ve stumbled upon an awesome Story while scrolling through your Instagram, but when you wanted to share it, you noticed it’s not possible. Instagram allows you to share Stories, but only in some instances.
If you’re interested in learning why you can’t share someone else’s Instagram Story, you’ve come to the right place. This article will discuss everything you need to know about sharing Instagram Stories.
Why Can’t I Share Someone Else’s Instagram Story?
The main reason why you can’t share someone else’s Instagram Story is that you’re not tagged in it.
Namely, Instagram allows you to reshare a Story only if you were tagged in it by the person who posted it. When you’re tagged, you receive a notification that someone mentioned you in their Story. Once you open it, you’ll see the “Add to your Story” option.
If you were mentioned in a Story, but there’s no option to share it, there might be something wrong with the app. Troubleshoot possible causes like:
- Your app is not updated – if you’re using an old version of Instagram, you might lose some of its features, including resharing Stories. Always ensure your app is up to date.
- The Story expired – as you know, Instagram Stories last for 24 hours. If the Story expired, you wouldn’t be able to open or repost it.
- Violated community guidelines – if you weren’t behaving according to the Instagram community guidelines, the app may prevent you from sharing someone else’s Story, even when you’re tagged in it. Reach out to Instagram’s support to try and resolve this issue.
A Workaround
Even though Instagram doesn’t allow you to reshare someone else’s Story if you weren’t tagged in it, there are ways to work around this. Try these options if you find a Story you feel compelled to share.
Screenshot
First of all, you can always take a screenshot and share it in your Story. Keep in mind that Instagram won’t notify the user you’ve taken a screenshot and reshared unless you tag them in the Story.
Third-Party Apps
You could also use third-party apps that enable you to save Stories and then share them. As you know, Instagram doesn’t offer an option to save a Story to your device. However, apps such as the Story Saver for Android and Instant Save for iPhone allow you to download a Story to your phone and share it.
If you’re using an Android, follow the steps below to download and share a Story with the Story Saver app:
- Download the Story Saver app from the Play Store.
- Launch it and log in with your Instagram username and password.
- You’ll see a list of the people you follow and their Stories.
- Tap on one of the profiles, and you’ll see all the Stories they posted in the last 24 hours.
- Select one of the Stories.
- Tap the arrow.
- The Story will be downloaded to your phone. Find it in your Gallery and add it to your Story.
If you’re using an iPhone, follow these steps to download and share a Story with the Instant Save app:
- Download the Instant Save app from the App Store.
- Log in to the app with your Instagram username and password.
- Scroll through the Stories posted by the people you follow and select the one you want to save.
- Tap the save icon.
- Find the photo in your folder and repost it as your Story.
- You can also copy the link of a Story, insert it in the app, and reshare it.
Send the Story to Your Followers
Even though you can’t reshare a Story, you can forward it to the people you follow:
- Open Instagram.
- Find the Story you want to share and tap the arrow at the bottom-right corner.
- Select the person to forward the Story.
- Tap “Send.”
If the person who posted the Story has a public account, everyone can open it. However, if the person has a private account, your follower won’t be able to open the Story unless they follow the person, too.
Ask the Person Who Posted the Story to Repost It
If you’re in someone’s Story and they forgot to mention you, Instagram won’t offer the option to share it. In this case, you can always ask the person who posted the Story to repost it and tag you.
Why Can’t My Followers Repost My Instagram Story?
Your followers can’t repost your Story if you didn’t tag them. If you’re not sure how to tag people in your Stories, follow the steps below:
- Open Instagram and select the photo you want to share on your Story.
- Tap “@,” and start typing the name/username of the person you want to tag. Repeat the process if you want to tag more people.
- Tap “Done” at the top-right corner.
- Tap “Send to.”
- Tap “Share” next to “Your Story.”
The person(s) you tagged will receive a notification saying they’ve been mentioned in your Story. They can repost it by tapping “Add to your Story.”

Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello!
On Instagram, you can repost stories, posts, but not all users know how to do it.
What will be in the article: we will talk about all the ways to share content on Instagram and describe each in detail.
All types of reposts on Instagram
We consider each way to repost on Instagram.
Repost a post through the application
To share someone else's post in your feed, you need to download the application (there is no such functionality inside Instagram yet).
There are several apps for reposting on iOS and Android, look for the phrase Repost Instagram in the name, you can't go wrong: Reposter for Instagram, Repost for Instagram Stories, QuickRepost for Instagram, Easy Repost for Instagram.
P.S. It is better to use applications and services that indicate the author's login in the post (or photo) that you share - this way you will not violate copyrights by posting someone else's content. As a last resort, you can always mark a person on Instagram manually, but it's still better when there is a mark both in the photo and in the description.
Consider the example of the Repost for Instagram application - Regram.
This is an Android application, you can find it in the Google Play marketplace. There are similar apps on the iPhone, like 'Repost for Instagram'. All these services work by analogy, so the example with Reposta is suitable for any other application.
Open the application. We click on the Instagram icon in the upper right corner, and we are automatically transferred to Instagram. That is, if you are already authorized on Insta, you do not need to enter any additional logins and passwords. This is a plus for the application.
On Instagram, select the post you want to share. Click on the post menu (3 dots). In the window that opens, click on the "Copy link" item.
We go back to the Regram application, and it will automatically recognize the copied link. Click on the post.
A photo is opened, the application automatically puts the author's login on it. You can change the location of the plate, for example, put it at the top of the photo.
You can also completely remove the mention of the author, but we do not recommend doing this, as this is already considered theft. The plate settings are on the left under the photo.
The letters LDB at the bottom right allow you to change the color of the plate. L is white, D is black, and B allows you to customize the color from the proposed palette.
The letters SS at the top above the photo allow you to copy the description - you can use it in full, or you can use hashtags. Better completely. The application substitutes a hashtag and a mark - #Repost @author's login before the author's description.
In the application menu (3 dots) you can also look at the author's profile, open his Instagram post or replace the photo.
To repost, click on the button with two arrows (the first in the row). The button in the center saves the photo to the device, and the right button with the “Share” icon allows you to send the photo to other social networks, instant messengers and email (but this is not necessary, since this function is in Insta itself).
The application tells you how to insert a description with authorship. Choose where to send the post - to Direct (Chats), tape (Feed) or Stories (Stories).
If we send it to the feed, then we are transferred to the standard post settings (for example, you can apply a filter). At the stage of adding a description, paste the text copied in advance to the clipboard. You can also add your own description. Next, save the post as usual.
P.S. Recently, many of these applications do not post photos with a badge in the feed, although this badge is in the settings.
But at the stage of publication, it disappears, and just a photo is posted. Perhaps this is due to changes in Instagram itself. Places in stories with a die:
What to do if the post is received without a plaque with authorship - you can save the photo to the gallery through the Regram application (the button in the center), and then post it on Instagram in the standard way, after saving the author's description to the clipboard.
It turns out a little more action, but without copyright infringement.
How to repost a post from Instagram to VK and other social networks
This repost is configured when posting. First, we add a photo (from the gallery or take it with a camera), then we edit it (for example, apply filters) and at the stage of adding a description, geotags and friend marks, at the bottom in the settings we find the “Where else to share” item.
Move the slider to the ON position (in blue). You can share only in 4 social networks - Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Odnoklassniki. For the first time, you will need to link accounts from these social networks to Instagram.
If you enable this feature during posting, these social networks will automatically post announcements of new posts.
Repost a post in Direct
You can share a post in private messages without third-party applications. We find the post in the feed, click on the airplane icon below it, a list of contacts opens with whom we want to share the post. Click "Submit".
The second way is to open the post menu (3 dots in the upper right corner above the post), then "Share to". Among the methods, select "Chats" with the instagram icon. A list of contacts opens, click on the "Submit" button, and the post flies to Direct.
Repost a post to stories
Repost a post to stories in the same way as in Direct — click on the airplane icon under the post, the list of contacts opens, above them there will be a line “Add a post to your story”, click.
The story editor opens, the author's login will be indicated under the publication.
P.S. The method will not work if the author of the content has a private profile - then when you open the contact list, you will see the inscription "Closed account" with a lock icon and an explanation that the listed contacts will not be able to see the content of the author if they are not subscribed to it.
In this case, you can save a post with a badge and a mark of the author through the Regram application to the device gallery (the first section describes how), and then add a picture to the story in the usual way and add a sticker with a mark of the author of the post.
However, if the author of the content has closed his profile from strangers, he will probably not be happy that his content ended up in someone else's story, so it's best to get permission from the author to repost first.
Repost stories to post
Open the published story, click on the “More” icon with three dots. Select "Share to Post".
Editing a photo - cropping, adding filters (everything is the same as when adding a standard post). It turns out a regular post with a non-clickable author's login.
Repost stories in Direct
Open the published story, click on the "Share" icon (or 3 dots in the upper right corner, then "Share to"). The methods depend on whose story you are reposting - yours or someone else's.
In the window that opens, select Chats, then the desired contact from the list.
Similar actions allow you to send stories to instant messengers, social networks and mail.
There is a separate button for reposting on Facebook in stories, located next to the "Share" button.
You can turn on automatic reposting to Facebook in your privacy settings.
The second way, go to "More" and select "Send ..." - the list of contacts will open.
Repost stories to stories
To repost stories to stories, 3 conditions must be met:
- You must be noted in history. You can't just repost other stories like that.
- You can only repost stories from open accounts.
- The author of the content must have permission to repost stories enabled in the settings.
Suppose all these conditions are met. Procedure:
As soon as you are tagged in your story, you will receive a notification. We click on it.
A story opens with an Add to Story button at the bottom. Click. The normal story editor opens. The username of the author will be indicated in the history.
How to allow other people to repost stories
Go to your account settings, section "Privacy". Find the "History" tab.
Scroll down to the "Reposts" item and switch the sliders to the ON position opposite the "Allow reposts in stories" and "Allow sharing" sub-items.
Repost video from IGTV
Repost to stories
To share a published video from IGTV to stories, open it and click on the airplane icon. Then, above the contacts, click on the item "Add video to your story."
Repost to Direct
To send a video to Direct, click on the 3 dots next to the airplane icon, select "Share to ...".
Then Chats.
Repost to Instagram feed
You can repost from IGTV to a post as an announcement only when uploading a video to IGTV.
We will not describe in detail the process of creating and publishing a video - the instructions are in the article "How to add a video to IGTV".
We only note that at the last stage of publishing the video, where the name and description of the video are indicated, there is an item "Publish preview".
In it, you need to move the slider to the ON position, and then immediately after posting the announcement on IGTV, the minute announcement will appear in the feed.
Repost live on IGTV
This is not exactly a repost, but it's also worth knowing how to save a live on Instagram on IGTV so that it does not disappear after 24 hours, and it can be reviewed.
