How do you post from instagram to facebook

How to Automatically Post From Facebook to Instagram

Third-party automated Facebook and Instagram posts have become tremendous time-savers for many marketers out there. But did you know you can automatically post from Facebook to Instagram on your own? Better yet, this is a fairly simple task that can save you additional time and money. If this is something that speaks to you, you’re in the right place.

In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know when it comes to posting from FB to IG.

Cross-posting from IG to FB has been out there for a while. Publishing your post on Facebook through Instagram, on the other hand, is a relatively new feature that was love at first sight for many business owners. There’s no need for hefty third-party tools anymore; you can be completely in charge of your social media accounts.

Here’s what you need to know and do to make this feature possible:

General Requirements
  • You must have a business Instagram account.
  • This Instagram account has to be connected to a page you manage on Facebook.
  • Disable (if enabled) the two-factor Instagram authentication. For security reasons, Instagram won’t let you cross-post if you have this authentication type enabled. We recommend carefully weighing the potential consequences and benefits of this action and making your choice accordingly. It’s definitely more convenient to leave the two-factor authentication disabled if you’re going to use cross-posting all the time.

Linking Your Facebook and Instagram
  1. Go to the Facebook page you manage and select the Settings section in the left-hand menu.
  2. Choose the Instagram option from the menu.
  3. Click on the Connect to Instagram option.
  4. A new window will appear, asking you to sign in to Instagram. This will link your accounts.

Creating Your Post
  1. Head over to your Facebook Page and start writing a new post.
  2. Include one photo in your post. The image can be of any size or orientation. Just make sure it’s not taller than the 4:3 ratios.
  3. Include a caption. It will be identical on Instagram and Facebook.
  4. Add hashtags in the Facebook post directly. If you don’t want your FB post to contain hashtags, you can add them separately to your Instagram post later by editing it. You can also edit the FB post after publishing and remove the hashtags.

Publishing Your Post
  1. Make sure only to upload one photo, as the multiple photo option might not be available. Also, the Facebook to Instagram posting function is not available for all pages.
  2. When you add content to your post, tick the Instagram box in the post sharing options.
  3. This will share your Facebook post to both your FB and IG pages automatically. You can only share both posts now without the option to schedule them for later.

Another great option for posting to Instagram from your Facebook account is through Facebook’s Creator Studio. But to be able to use this feature, you need to have a business FB account. If you do, here’s what the whole process looks like:

  1. Log in to your Facebook business page on your desktop.
  2. Click on this link to access Creator Studio.
  3. You’ll see a Facebook and Instagram icon in the center top. Select the one you wish to post to.
  4. When you click on the Instagram icon, it will change colors. You can then create posts for both your feed and IGTV.
  5. Choose the Insta account you wish to post to. Remember, your account has to be linked to your business Facebook page.
  6. Add content to your upload page.

How to Automatically Post Facebook Photos Directly to Instagram?

There are two ways to post Facebook photos to IG: Using Facebook’s Creator Studio or by posting from your Facebook Page. For both options to work, you need to have Business accounts and use a Facebook desktop. Also, you need to have your accounts linked.

To post a photo from Creator Studio, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your FB business page.
  2. Click on this link to access Creator Studio.
  3. Tap on the Instagram icon at the top and create an Insta post.
  4. Add a photo you wish to post along with the caption and hashtags.
  5. Post the content. If you want to post the same photo to your FB page, tick the Post to Facebook box.

To post from your Facebook Page, follow the steps below:

  1. Start writing a new post on your Facebook Page.
  2. Make sure only to upload one photo, as multiple photo sharing to Instagram is not available yet.
  3. Include a caption and hashtags.
  4. Tick the Instagram option in the sharing option box.
  5. Publish your photo.

Social media platform integration. If this hasn’t become a buzz phrase for you as a marketing professional, it should be.

Being able to post to multiple outlets at once helps streamline efficiency and productivity, no matter whether you’re an individual sharing status updates or a marketer sharing advertisements. And while there are various third-party programs that enable posting to the likes of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram from one source, some social media channels also enable cross-posting from one another as well. The best example of this is Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook and Instagram are outliers when it comes to social media channels in that they’re both owned by the same individual. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg bought Instagram for $1 billion back in the spring of 2012 when the photo-sharing social media app had only 30 million users. Today, there are 1 billion users on Instagram. Since Facebook’s purchase of Instagram, however, the two platforms have rolled out ways to post to each program from just one of the channels. Instagram was first to roll out this feature, allowing users to share posts with photos to their Facebook account simultaneously, and it more recently launched a feature for users to share their Instagram stories to Facebook. And now Facebook offers cross-post functionality with Instagram as well – however, this feature has not been universally rolled out yet and is still only available to some business users. As you can imagine, the feature has big potential for business pages. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at how to cross-post from Facebook to Instagram and why so many social media marketers are excited about this new feature.

Why Cross-Post?

If your business is not yet on social media, then you should create an account immediately. But for the sake of this article, let’s hope that you’re already on social media and have amassed a respectable following. As you should know by now, social media is a great way to engage with current customers, develop new customers, target certain user demographics, share relevant product news and information, and gain market insight. It also provides an additional means for customers to contact you via comments or direct messages. However, after you’ve established social media accounts, it’s important to maintain them – and doing so should consist of posting regularly to stay in front of your customers. On this note, it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that the biggest benefit to cross-posting between social media channels is the time savings. Instead of creating a new post for each channel every time you want to post something, you can create one post and publish it to multiple channels.

When it comes to cross-posting from Facebook to Instagram, there’s another huge benefit: You can do it right from your computer. Instagram works best when using it from the mobile app, which can make posting to this particular platform tedious for social media marketers sitting at a desk in front of a computer all day. Facebook, on the other hand, offers similar functionality whether you’re posting from a computer or from the mobile app. As a marketer, you’re likely performing most of your work in front of a computer, and it may be cumbersome air dropping or emailing photos from your desktop to your mobile device just so you can form an Instagram post. That’s a huge advantage of this new cross-posting feature that’s rolling out with Facebook, as it allows you to create one post on “the social network” and then share it to Instagram with the click of a button. In the next section, we’ll take you through things step-by-step.

How to Cross-Post from Facebook to Instagram

So how do you get Facebook’s new cross-posting feature to work for you? We’ve broken things down step-by-step here:

  1. Link your accounts: First things first, you’ll need to link your Instagram and Facebook accounts. This is really easy to do. Log in to your Facebook account and click on the “Settings” menu in the upper-right hand corner. You’ll see a sidebar on the left-hand side of the page. Look for the “Instagram” tab and click on it. It should be near the bottom of the sidebar menu. Once you click it, you’ll see a “Manage Instagram on Facebook” screen. Simply log in to your Instagram account from here to link these two social media accounts.
  2. Create a post: Keep in mind that if you’re going to share anything from Facebook to Instagram, you’ll need to include an image with it. At this time, cross-posting from Facebook to Instagram only works with a single image. Get started by writing a Facebook post and attaching an image to it. We’d also suggest adding a few relevant hashtags to your post that are applicable over both social networks. (We’ll tell you how to enhance your hashtag game when cross-posting later.)
  3. Publish the post: After you’re done creating your post and you’re reading to publish, check the content box. You should see a “News Feed” option, which will ensure the post publishes to your Facebook news feed, and an “Instagram” option, which will cross-publish the post. Make sure you check both of them, then hit “Share Now. ” You can also preview the post before you publish to make sure everything looks good. However, don’t schedule the Facebook post for a later date/time. If you do, it won’t cross-post to Instagram.

Tips and Suggestions

If you don’t have this functionality yet with your business’ Facebook account, don’t panic. It’s a new feature and it’s still being rolled out. Not everyone has it yet, but that time is likely coming soon. And even when it does roll out universally, you can bet that Facebook will be continuously making improvements to its functionality. In the meantime, here are some tips, reminders and suggestions for upping your cross-posting game:

  • Hashtag use: We told you in the previous section how you’d be wise to use a few hashtags in your cross-posting that apply to both the Facebook and Instagram channels. However, if you want to add more hashtags to your post – particularly on Instagram, where they can help more users find you – then we’d suggest adding them as a comment after your cross-post publishes. You can also edit your Instagram post if you’d like to add them to the specific post.
  • Two-factor authentication: If your Instagram account is set up with two-factor authentication, you’ll need to disable this feature before you’re able to cross-post from Facebook. This can be done in your Instagram account settings.
  • Limitations: There are currently a few notable limitations when cross-posting from Facebook to Instagram. For example, you can only cross-post a single photo. You also can’t schedule posts. And unlike cross-posting from Instagram to Facebook, you can’t share your Facebook story to Instagram. Finally, the cross-posting feature can only be performed via a computer – the feature is not yet accessible from the Facebook mobile app. Keep in mind that this feature is still in its infancy and will likely be updated before and after its universal rollout with enhanced functionality and user-friendliness.
  • Business use only: While you can post from Instagram to Facebook on your personal account, you can’t yet do it from Facebook to Instagram. This new feature is for business use only. Whether it will eventually be adapted for personal use remains to be seen.

Other Ways to Post

While Facebook’s new functionality allows business pages to post from “the social network” to Instagram, there are other ways you can enable simultaneous posting to both of these – and other – social media channels. However, in order to do it, you’ll need to use a third-party software to link your accounts. Depending on what software you use, you may be required to pay a monthly or annual fee. Two of the most popular applications are Hootsuite and Buffer, which permit Facebook and Instagram posting. Compared to Facebook’s new feature, what’s nice about using these third-party platforms is that you can schedule posts. You can also customize posts for each specific platform in advance, rather than posting and then editing them once they go live. Another nice thing about using a third-party program is that you can also simultaneously post to LinkedIn and Twitter. Keep in mind that the only reason why there’s cross-posting functionality between Facebook and Instagram is because they’re both owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

Social media marketing will only continue to play a more important role in how your business is perceived, and as marketers are being asked more and more to multi-task and take on new responsibilities, increasing efficiency is a key priority. Facebook’s new feature that allows business accounts to cross-post to Instagram is a great step in the right direction for making a marketing team’s job that much easier. Facebook is sure to continue to improve the platform before it completely rolls it out, and in the meantime there are several third-party programs that also enable cross-functioning ability.

Ways to cross-post from Facebook to Instagram

Unfortunately, there is no built-in delayed posting feature on Instagram. Yes, this is unfair and greatly complicates the work, increasing the cost of resources. But, since Instagram does not go to meet us, we will go ourselves.

There are several ways or methods, let's figure it out.

1. Crossposting via Facebook

Crossposting is the simultaneous publication of content in different social networks with its setup and design in just one of them.

If you maintain pages on FB and Instagram, and the content or part of it matches, there is a way to duplicate posts from the first social network through cross-posting. To do this, you will need to link your IG account to the desired community. Further, at the time of preparing a new publication in FB, you need to select a linked account. Step by step instructions below.

1) First, let's link Instagram. To do this, open Facebook from a PC and find the page to which we will link. Click "Settings" at the bottom left.

Also on the left, in the panel that opens, we find “Instagram”, this is where you need it.

Enter the data of the linked page, log in.

To create a publication, go to "Tools" in the panel on the left.

Now, when creating a post on FB, you can select the option “Post to Instagram. It is possible to publish a post immediately or schedule it.

Important: You must select the "post to Instagram" option each time a new post is created. On the one hand, this is convenient if you do not need to duplicate all the content, on the other hand, it is possible to forget to check the box when necessary.

This method is suitable for both personal and profiles with the modification of the author or business.

2. Auto-posting via Facebook Creator Studio

What if the content on these networks is different and cross-posting is not suitable? It is also possible to set up independent automatic and official posting. But you have to love Facebook. The developers of this network have tried to create a convenient content management application. In it, you can not only set up delayed posts, but also track statistics, manage content.

In order to publish posts through Creator Studio, you will need to synchronize an Instagram profile with author or business status. How to auto-post via FB, read below.

1) To do this, link the page to Facebook in the same way (from point No. 1).

2) Next, on the left panel, select "Tools for publishing". From the list that appears, go to Creator Studio.

3) In the upper left corner, click create a publication by selecting the type: feed or IG TV.

4) Add content (text, photo, video). You can turn off comments for publication if necessary. The post can be scheduled, published immediately, or moved to drafts. We send.

5) There is a Calendar on the left panel. It shows all scheduled posts by date.

6) The post will also be displayed in the Content Library. This tab has the ability to sort content by type, date, and status.

This method is suitable for "author" or "business" accounts.

Important: the official tool allows you to organize a full-fledged posting. However, there is no way to add stories.

3. Repost content from the phone

This method is not exactly related to delayed or cross-posting. It allows you to grab an image from Facebook and send it straight to your Instagram feed or story.

What is it for:

  • if the post was published on Facebook, and it needs to be published urgently on Instagram, and only a smartphone is at hand;
  • in the same situation, but the post needs to be picked up and published later. Then there is the option to save it as drafts.

How it works:

  1. open an image posted on Facebook;
  2. click on the three dots in the upper right corner;
  3. select "Share";
  4. point to the feed or stories.

The downside is that you can only pick up a layout in this way. If you need text, you will have to do it manually.

4. Auto-posting via SMM service

There is an option to set up auto-posting to Instagram without any difficulties using special online services, such as our SmmBox.

You don't need to sync with Facebook, have a business account or work only from a computer. The service can:

  • automate the publication of posts and stories on Instagram;
  • distribute entries according to the content plan;
  • set up cross-posting from other social networks.

Let's talk more about auto-posting with SmmBox. It is suitable if:

  1. there is no free time to understand Facebook settings;
  2. I can't link my account to Instagram;
  3. no author or business profile modification;
  4. there are a lot of Instagram accounts;
  5. I want the maximum optimization of the process with the rational use of time.

If at least one of the above is revoked, then there is a reason to try SmmBox. Together with it, you can set up auto-posting for many accounts from different social networks at once. To do this, you do not need to link them together. And the work will take place in one place and from any device.

Additional benefits of posting automation:

  • organization of publication according to the content plan;
  • setting up posts from RSS feeds;
  • cross-posting from VK.

To verify the effectiveness of the service, there is a free trial period - 14 days.

Answers to frequently asked questions

1) Will each publication automatically get into the linked Instagram page to FB and set up cross-posting?

No. To make a crosspost, you need to check the box next to the Instagram account at the time of creating the publication. If this is not done, duplication will not occur.

2) Is it possible to organize auto-posting for personal accounts?

Yes, by cross-posting from Facebook or through the SmmBox service.
