1. Instagram Fonts Generator by Influencer Marketing Hub
This is a simple, web-based font-generator tool that you can use to create Instagram-compatible fonts. All you need to do is go to the website, type in the box, and select from the list of fonts that show up below the box. Try it free below
Steps to Change Instagram Font
There are different steps involved in customising fonts for Instagram Stories and everything else on Instagram. Therefore, we will discuss both of these separately. So, read on, and find out how to customise fonts on Instagram.
For Instagram StoriesInstagram provides five different font options for Instagram Stories. If you type something on your story then it will first appear in the default “Typewriter” font. You can change this by clicking on the text first and then the name of the font at the top centre of the screen.
As you click on the name of the font every time, you will see the next font option. The five font options are shown in the image below.
However, the choices here are very limited and there’s really not much that you can do about it. You can always create an image and add text to it and upload directly on Stories. But, if you want to type the text via Instagram Stories interface then there are only five fonts to choose from.
So, if you want to use different fonts for your Stories, you will have to create an image and add text to it separately. This can be done using any photo editing app like Canva. You can add a background image, text, emojis, filters, and a lot more using such apps. Overall, you can create engaging Instagram Stories on these apps and upload them directly on the Instagram app.
Another way to customise fonts for Instagram Stories is to use an Instagram Story template. These templates have preset backgrounds, fonts, and design elements and you just need to add your content to it. This is a better option for beginners than using a photo-editing app because all of the work is already done for you.
If you don’t have any design experience, you can use templates or you can a photo-editing app to create the design yourself. These are the two best options to customise your Instagram Story fonts.
For Bio, Captions, and CommentsFor any other text on Instagram, these customisation options are not available. Whether it is your Instagram bio or the text in comments and captions, there are no options available
However, you can change the font by writing in a different format on an app or web-based font generator and then copy-pasting the text to Instagram. There are several Instagram-compatible font generating apps and tools available for free.
You can use any of these to write what you want to post on Instagram. After writing, you can select a font of your choice from the numerous options provided by that particular tool. Once you’re done customising your text, you simply need to copy it and paste it wherever you want on Instagram.
If you want to change the font of your Instagram bio and name, for example, you can do it by clicking on the “edit profile” option. You will see a list of options like name, email, and bio and boxes next to these. You can paste the text in your chosen font in these boxes as shown in the image below.
Fonts for Instagram is a mobile app that is available for both Android and iOS platforms. This is a useful tool for making Instagram bios and captions using different fonts. You can also add text decorations and emojis using this tool. It is an all-in-one tool to create engaging Instagram bios, captions, and comments.
Here are some of the options that you can choose from, using this app. And, as it is a mobile app, it comes in quite handy when you want to customise font for Instagram as that is also a mobile app.
This one is different from other tools and apps on this list as it is not exactly a font-generator, but actually a custom keyboard. This is an alternative for the regular default keyboard on your mobile phone. To use this keyboard, you need to go to your settings and replace your existing keyboard with this one.
Once you start using this keyboard, you can add customised fonts, emojis, and a lot more to practically anywhere you can type. Unlike other tools on this list, where you need to write separately and copy-paste, with this one, you can simply type in a particular font. You can go to the font change option in the keyboard’s settings and select the font that you like. And, when you type using this keyboard, you will simply be able to type using your chosen font.
This is another simple-to-use, web-based Instagram font generator tool that works in a similar way as the “Instagram Fonts” tool. You simply need to type the text in the type box and you will see the same text in different font-options in another box on the right. Select the font that you like from the list of over 90 different styles. Once you select your font, you will have to copy that text and paste it wherever you want it on Instagram.
This is a web-based tool that you can use to generate fonts for Instagram bio, captions, comments, etc. This tool has a large list of more than 100 font options to choose from. You can also use this to add symbols along with the text, to make it more interesting.
This app works similar to any other web-based font generator where you type your text and it appears in different fonts that you can choose from. Then, you copy the text in your preferred font and then paste it on Instagram.
Best Practices for Customising Instagram Fonts
Now that you know all the different ways in which you can change fonts on Instagram, let’s discuss a few best practices that you need to follow. These will ensure that you do it right and don’t make any rookie mistakes the first time you try to customise Instagram fonts.
Here are the most important things to keep in mind when customising fonts for Instagram:
- The most important thing to remember is that you should not go overboard with your use of fancy fonts and symbols. This is especially true for business accounts, as using too much decorative text will make your account look informal and childish.
- Another best practice that you should follow is to select a font that is clearly readable and is not overly decorative. There is no point in using a font that your audience cannot understand.
- You should also keep your font style consistent for all your Instagram text, as it contributes to your overall brand aesthetic.
Conclusion
Instagram, as a platform, is very user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. And yet, it does not offer much variety when it comes to customising fonts for any type of text on the platform.
Instagram Stories has five font options, but other text like that in bios, comments, etc. does not have any customisation at all. For that, you can use a third-party tool or app where you write in your preferred font and then copy-paste that text on Instagram. There are several web-based tools and mobile apps available for free, apart from the ones listed here.
You can use the tips and tricks mentioned in this post to customise your Instagram fonts and make your text more interesting and engaging.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you customize Instagram fonts?
Instagram doesn’t have many options when it comes to customizing fonts. You can’t customize the font type to make it look more aesthetically pleasing. To do this, you have to use an app or tool outside Instagram. One such tool is the Instagram Fonts Generator by the Influencer Marketing Hub, which you will find near the top of this page. All you need do is to type in the box and select from the list of fonts that show up.
How do you find fonts for Instagram?
Instagram lets you change the font both for Stories and in your bio, captions, and comments. Annoyingly, you can’t specify a font by name, or upload specific font families. Instagram provides five different font options for Instagram Stories. For your Stories, you will have to create an image and add text to it separately or use an Instagram Stories template. In other places, you can change the font by writing in a different format on an app or web-based font generator and copy-pasting the text.
How do you get different fonts on Instagram?
As we have seen in this article, the way you get different fonts on Instagram depends on where specifically you want them. There are already five in-built fonts for Instagram Stories. Alternatively, you can create an image and add text to it separately, using any photo editing app. For your Instagram bio or the text in comments and captions, you can change the font by writing in a different format on an app or web-based font generator and then copy-pasting the text to Instagram.
What is the Instagram logo font?
Instagram uses what looks like an italic font in its logo. In its original version, Instagram modeled its logo on a commercial font called Billabong. This is most noticeably different from the current Instagram font because it has a Looping I with a noticeable tail. In 2016, Instagram altered its logo to be similar to the Blue Vinyl font
How do I identify a font?
One of the issues with Instagram is that you can’t upload fonts to it by name. Font generators offer fonts you can upload to Instagram, but most merely suggest fonts by appearance, unnamed and without font families. One way to identify a font you find somewhere is to use the free iOS WhatTheFont mobile app. This identifies a font from a photo you upload. Alternatively, you could try the websites www.whatfontis.com or www.MyFonts.com to identify fonts if you don’t have an iOS device.
Can you use italics on Instagram?
Instagram, unfortunately, doesn’t have a sophisticated enough text handler to allow you to use an italic version of its in-built fonts. One solution is to use our Instagram Fonts Generator, enter your text, and look for a font suggestion that has a look similar to italics. Some of the other apps we cover in this article would work similarly. Another option is to go to YayText, which converts any text to italics or bold, which you can then upload into Instagram.
How to Add Custom Fonts to Instagram Stories
Free Consultation
In our last blog, we covered what to search to find the best and most unique Instagram stories stickers. But did you know that you can also create custom fonts for your Instagram stories? I was left wondering how exactly other Instagram users posted such unique stories with fonts I had never seen before. So, I decided to do some research. And there is infact a way an easy way to type in custom fonts. Want to know how? Keep reading.
1.Phonto
In my opinion, this app is probably your best option if you are really trying to make your Instagram stories unique and personalized. Phonto is a free app. From my research, Phonto definitely has the widest array of fonts to choose from, with over 400 different options. You even have to option to install your own custom fonts. Within the app, you can customize text size, color, gradient, line spacing, etc.
To use this app:
- Open the app and upload the photo you want to post to you story.
- Tap the “add text” option that will appear over the photo and type your desired text.
- Choose your font, text color, and add a background to your text.
- Save your photo, open the Instagram app, and post to your story.
Like I mentioned, you also have the option to upload your own font if the ones offered on the app don’t work for you! There are many different places on the Internet where you can download free, unique fonts. For this example, I used fontspace.com.
To upload your own font:
- On your iPhone or smart device, head over to any website with free downloadable fonts.
- Go through and choose and download the font you desire.
- Download the font and open your downloads folder.
- Open the folder and tap “Copy to Phonto.”
- This will direct you to the Phonto app. Tap “Install”.
Now your font will be uploaded to Phonto. It won’t be listed with Phonto’s fonts, but in it’s own section called “My Fonts.” Once you upload a font, it will be saved on the app until you remove it. So this is a one time process if you really like a certain font and want to routinely use it in your Instagram stories.
Here are two other options you have:
1.Fonts
Fonts is available for download on any smart device. This app essentially gives you a whole new keyboard to type from when posting Instagram stories. The actual keyboard shows the different styles of fonts. Whereas on Instagram, you change the fonts after you type. This app does have a one time $9.99 fee to access the exclusive fonts, so it may not be your best option if you are just exploring and don’t want to spend money.
2. Typorama
Typorama is another free option (like Phonto). The main difference between Fonts and Typorama is that Fonts lets you edit right on the Instagram app, whereas Typorama is a completely separate app. On this one, you will have to edit your story, save it, and then upload to Instagram.
To Use This App:
1.Choose your photo and how you want to use it. (For this purpose we will use Instagram Story.)
2.Then choose from the styles and colors that you want to type in.
3. Edit your photo and share to story
Sometimes, the fonts offered within the Instagram stories feature get a little boring and overused. These apps can most definetly separate your Instagram stories from the rest. Leave people wondering how you used fonts that are not available on the Instagram stories features.

Why beautiful fonts are needed
To evoke certain feelings
All marketing is aimed at evoking certain emotions in the viewer that encourage a person to buy. Many factors influence a person: design, arrangement of elements, color and, of course, beautiful fonts. Fonts can be different: gothic, fabulous, handwritten — and each type evokes different thoughts and associations. The main thing is to learn how to use such manipulation correctly.
Attract attention
Something unusual that we see for the first time, we always unconsciously notice and this somehow remains in our memory. That's why your ad can be more effective: just add new and stylish Instagram fonts to it. They don't have to be overly fancy and provocative, just choose something that's different from the standard fonts. In addition, you can experiment with the color palette, font size and position.
Stand out from competitors
Business is endless competition, the desire to be better, more popular. Everyone is chasing recognition on social networks and increasing sales, and for this you need to significantly stand out from the rest. Instagram is a platform where everything is somehow focused on the visual, and therefore typography is also important: the font on Instagram will help you add originality, zest and stand one step ahead of your competitors' accounts.
Upgrade visual
The inscription, if you choose the right color, type and size of the font for it, place it in the right part of the screen, can add beauty to your story. There are no universal text formatting rules that we could advise you. You can use any combination of colors and fonts, make letters of different sizes, arrange them randomly and use animation. Take your time and find your own style.
How to add a caption in a standard font
If you're still not sure if you should use third-party fonts in your stories, you can experiment with the ones that are already built into Instagram.
Log into the application, click on the profile icon at the bottom of the screen. After that, you need to click on the “+” at the very top and select the history creation mode. Upload photos/videos from the gallery or create them right now.
To see the panel with different fonts, click on the “Aa” icon at the top. Now enter the text and look at the proposed options.
There are quite a few options that can be used. It is possible to add animation (and it is different for each font).
You can make a stroke to the font (each one has a different style), change its color to any of the palette.
To see all the options, you need to swipe left and right: then Instagram will change the font and you can choose the one that suits you best.

How to use third-party fonts
First, decide on your goals: think about what font style you need, what emotions you want to evoke in the viewer.
Then write the text that you will use in your story. Make sure it's not too long.
When you're ready, go to the website and follow the short instructions below.
Paste text on the line that says “Text Primer”. Select the decorative symbols provided below if you need them. Adjust the sliders that customize the language.
Scroll down to see hundreds of beautiful fonts of your choice. Choose the best one in your opinion and click on the "Copy" icon. On the right, you can see a preview window that will help you save time.
Go to Instagram and select the story creation mode. Add photos and videos or create them right now by clicking the round button below.
Then click on the “Aa” icon. Now you need to click "Paste" and the text from your clipboard will appear on your story. Ready! You can adjust the color, size and position of the text in a more advantageous part of the screen.
There are more English fonts than Russian fonts on the site, because most of the characters in Unicode are English. If you like the font, but it is not in Russian, you can make words from English letters that are identical to Russian. For example: 𝙼𝙴𝙲𝚃𝙾, ᴘᴏᴄᴀ, 𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐏, 𝓜𝓞𝓟𝓔.
For ease of editing, we have added "step back" and "step forward" buttons. Thus, at any time you can return accidentally erased text, and you do not have to type it again.
If text characters or emojis are displayed as empty squares ☐☐☐, your device or browser does not support them. Try to log in from another device, preferably from a mobile device (iOS, Android).

How to change and add your own font to Instagram stories
Instagram's strong point is visual, so all elements are important in the design of a publication: from the background of the cover to the lettering.
The social network offers several fonts for text in stories. Each of them has its own purpose and “mood”, which can change the perception of the entire story.
What fonts are used in Instagram stories
The social network recently increased the number of fonts for stories, and now there are nine of them. Below is a listing of fonts in the order they are placed when editing stories in the application.
- The classic font is universal. It is suitable for almost any plot, it is easily perceived by the eye and is neutral.
- The modern font is great for headings because it uses only uppercase letters and has the right weight.
- The neon font looks like it's lit from the inside. If attention is important, this font is perfect, but it is better not to use it in long texts.
- Printed font, on the contrary, is good if there is a lot of text in the story. It is clear and well read.
- Double font with a shadow looks three-dimensional, has a slope. Recommended for headlines and short phrases.
- The creative font has a peculiarity: it looks attractive in the Latin alphabet, but Russian letters are written in a standard way, without the handwriting effect.
- Magazine font makes text look more expensive. He is good at describing reputable companies, major events, glossy chronicles.
- Universal upper case can be used almost anywhere. It is distinguished by roundness and great softness in writing.
- The classic serif font is ideal for long texts. This font is recommended to be applied on a calm monochromatic background so that the words are clearly visible.
How to change the font on Instagram in Stories
Instagram settings allow you to experiment with fonts, their colors and backgrounds.
In order to change the font in the story, you need to:
- upload an image or video,
- select the “Aa” icon at the top of the screen:
- enter text in the field with the cursor,
- select one of the nine standard fonts at the bottom of the screen by scrolling them left and right:
The finished inscription can be placed on the substrate. To do this, after entering the text, you need to click on the “A” with stars” icon at the top of the screen. Each font assumes its own substrate, and clicking on this sign offers its options - light, dark, transparent.
- For neon type, pressing the background button turns on the “light” for the letters.
- For a double font, this character adds different variations of the character shadow.
- Creative Font Underlay looks like a brush stroke.
The font in stories can be changed in size and color. In the first case, you need to adjust the height of the letters using the tool on the left side of the screen, moving the circle up and down:
The color of the inscription changes in the palette located at the top of the screen.
How to add your own font to Instagram stories
It must be admitted that the standard set of fonts for stories is very limited. If you want original writing, you can use special services, applications and bots to generate various fonts.
All of them work on the same principle: you enter your text, choose the font you like, and then copy the finished caption to your story.
For example, using the site coolsymbol.
