It is true that nowadays, almost everyone uses a smartphone, even infants. But those who do not have a smartphone consider the fact that there is no version for Mac as discrimination. The developer has been turning a deaf ear for years, to release a version for Mac, so that WhatsApp users are not dependent on a smartphone. Why ? Maybe this is a commercial explanation...
Intel only? Time to get a more current setup! Only One Pro Mac is still Intel and that's being replaced this coming Fall! Time to catch up!
Update is really slow on desktop. It takes several minutes to synchornise chats - old version did not. And because it also 'works' offline, chats are husseled like hell when switching between desktop and phone. Some messages are not delivered at phones using 'old' version. So it now makes Whatsapp an unreliable irritating slow messaging service. Time to switch to something else.
Version 2.2121.6 is available here, and v2.2121.5 from MacAppStore
What do I think of it ? For visibility, the developers are working hard: every few days, a new application update appears. I think there is a problem here...
use it as a backup messenger because of their new terms of use
Wrecked by FacePlantBook: "WhatsApp users will lose app features until they accept new privacy policy." https://9to5mac. com/2021/05/10/whatsapp-users-will-lose-app-features-until-they-accept-new-privacy-policy/
DON'T USE WHATSaPP! Facebook told us how they own all our information on this app. There are safer, more private options including Signal, Telegram, and Apple Messages. This app seems "free," but the cost is too high, IMO.
The new conditions of use are unacceptable. I use Telegram since month. Bye bye Sackerbörg
The developer's website is the official WhatsApp site - curious how many people here scream "Chinese spyware! Chinese spyware!" - since when Facebook got Chinese?
Keep Chinese SPYWARE OFF your computer. The world is entirely too gullible when it comes to digital warfare. Your content is being stolen and used against you.
Reeks! Use Telegram instead.
it was continually hanging
Simple to use, and simply works.
Excellent
This is Chinese spy software. AVOID. Add WeChat, TikTok, and Zoom to that list.
Well, from the beginning - I don't know why the connection between my iMac and iPhone broke during moving settings from old 6 on brand new SE. Secondly it's a real nuisance that the only way of re-connecting them is via QR code with a ridiculous comment that the iPhone may sometimes not read it - with not a word what to do then. Thirdly the User's Manual isn't the 1st thing I can find on a dedicated website. And this leads straight to the only disadvantage -as to my ... taste - of the communicator. As far as other issues are concerned it works,it's reliable and generally user's friendly.
Are we kidding? Can’t I use it on iPad and Mac at the same time? Furthermore, "WhatsApp web" doesn’t have all the functions of the mobile version! There are also serious privacy and security issues! I hope I won’t use it again as soon as everyone’s using Telegram.
Biggest spy hole and backdoor to your system.
AVOID due to constant security problems. Despite its popularity, I dumped it for better. So has the United Nations. Signal is one worthy alternative. -->"The United Nations officials are not using WhatsApp for purposes of communication as it is unsafe and vulnerable to hacking.
