There’s no just no good way to log into multiple Instagram accounts at once on desktop, or to view those accounts side-by-side or switch between them quickly. If you’re sick and tired of having to log in and out of your different Instagram profiles on the web, downloading the Shift desktop app is the best solution to solve that problem for you! In this article, we will help you learn the best ways to link accounts and switch between multiple Instagram accounts on your desktop with Shift, and manage all of those accounts effectively.
When Instagram first came to be, it was difficult to navigate on desktop, especially with multi-accounts. It was built with only the mobile app in mind, and Instagram on your laptop was forgotten. Instagram has finally released the ability to post photos and videos from desktops. Although this may sound like a very basic feature, Instagram’s desktop functionality has historically lagged well behind what’s possible on its apps. Now in Shift you can have all your Instagram accounts in one place, and post straight to those accounts hassle free.
Switching between multiple accounts on Instagram can be a headache, but if you want to scale your business, run a side hustle, or add a personal account, it becomes necessary. Instagram does not make it easy to link accounts, access all profiles, and switch between a second, third, or even fourth account.
On Instagram, users can
But, unfortunately, Instagram has yet to master the art of switching between and managing multiple accounts.
Here’s the trick: Use a third-party app to manage multiple accounts from the same interface (aka Shift!)
You might have more than one Instagram account if you not only have a personal account, but also one for a hobby, website, or side hustle.
Nowadays anyone managing an Instagram profile professionally likely has more than one linked account. Whether you have a personal account, and a brand account or you manage multiple accounts as an influencer or agency, you're likely running two or more accounts. Luckily, you can manage multiple accounts directly in the Shift desktop app. While Instagram doesn't have an official desktop app or an elegant solution for managing multiple accounts, Shift allows you to work with as many Instagram accounts as you like on your PC, Mac or Linux desktop computer. Workspaces in Shift also allows you to easily manage multiple Instagram accounts along with all of your other social media apps. Workspaces makes it easy to groups together all your apps, including Instagram, according to what they're used for. That way you can have Workspaces for social media for business, personal, and side hustle, for example.

Every account must have its own email address, so you can’t create multiple accounts from the same email.
To add an additional account to your Instagram, follow these steps:

This makes switching between Instagram accounts on your desktop PC or laptop a breeze compared to logging in and out of accounts in a browser. It’s also easier than switching between Instagram accounts on the mobile app where you have to switch within the app itself, and can’t actually view more than one of your multiple accounts side-by-side, like you can on your computer with the Shift desktop app.

Workspaces are dedicated, and fully customizable, spaces for your most important work within Shift. You can add apps, tabs, and bookmarks directly within a Workspace.
If you manage multiple Instagram accounts as a social media manager, for example, you can put each Instagram account into its own Workspace. You can also keep all of the social media accounts that you manage for each client together in one Workspace including Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Youtube, and TikTok. Another great addition to your Workspace are apps that you use to schedule and manage social media posts, such as Later and Buffer. You’ll even stay logged into all of the social media accounts and management tools within a Workspace so you won’t have to worry about logging in and out of any accounts. It’s so much easier to have all of your social media apps grouped together in a Workspace so you aren’t searching through the sidebar looking for the right Instagram account.

As you have gathered, accessing multiple IG profiles on desktop can be a real pain and the best way to get around this is using a third-party app. You can get the Instagram app (or multiple instagram apps) using Shift. These tools allow you to schedule Instagram posts which makes it easier to manage multiple accounts. You can not only schedule posts with these tools, but you can also analyze data to track the engagement of your posts. Analyzing engagement is crucial for taking the management of multiple Instagram accounts to the next level. If you’re taking advantage of the right tools to analyze engagement, you won’t waste your time on Instagram Stories, posts, and IGTV videos that just aren’t performing. And with Shift, that analysis can happen right on your desktop instead of having to use the mobile apps.

You can always tell which account you’re using by looking at the profile photo. The profile photo can be quite small in some views, so choose distinct photos to make sure you always post to the right account.

To connect to Instagram in Creator Studio, follow these steps:
That’s it!
If your Instagram account is connected to a Facebook Page, the process may look a little different depending on the relationship between your Facebook Page and Instagram account.
If you have push notifications for several Instagram accounts turned on, you will get notifications for all of them on your mobile device.
Each notification will indicate the relevant account name in brackets before the content of the notification.
Tapping a notification will take you directly to the relevant Instagram account, regardless of which account you last used.
If you’re using Instagram and a notification comes in from one of your other accounts, you will see the notification at the top of your screen.
If you’re managing multiple Instagram accounts on one device, it might be overwhelming to have them all sending push notifications. Fortunately, you can adjust the push notifications for each of your Instagram accounts separately.
Here’s how to change your notification settings on Instagram:
At some point, you might want to remove one of your Instagram accounts from the app.
Why? Since you can manage a maximum of five accounts from the Instagram app, you might want to remove an account in order to make room to add a new one.
Or, maybe you’re no longer working on a particular account and simply want to make sure you don’t post to it accidentally.
Here’s how to remove an Instagram account on your phone:
When you go back to your profile and tap on your username, you will see the removed account is no longer included in the drop-down.
Repeat these steps for each account you’d like to delete.
Note: Removing your account from the app does not delete your account. If you want to delete your account (forever), follow the steps provided by Instagram.

Posting photos to Instagram via a computer is not allowed. But all other functions of the application are available and work in the same way as on the phone.
Instagram does not have a PC app. You can enter it only from the site instagram.com
Here you can go to settings, manage your account, view posts, stories and live broadcasts, search for pages and go to direct. nine0003
Below we will tell you where to find it all and how to go to the desired section.
You can set up everything related to your account via a computer. Edit profile, change photo, username, set up security.
Click on your profile photo in the upper right corner and go to your account page.
Then click "Edit Profile".
Here you can change the name and username, add another site, change email. Everything is the same as on the phone.
You can also change your profile photo, but it's loaded without cropping or processing, so it's better to do it in the app.
In your profile, you can also access the usual Instagram settings.
Click the gear icon.
Here you can change your password, enable or disable notifications, log out of your account. nine0003
The most useful features are activity control and connected third-party applications. You can see which sites or apps your Instagram account is connected to.
You can disable any application. On the PC, this is even more convenient than in the mobile version. In the application, logins are hidden far away in the settings.
We advise you to check the list of applications in which you are logged in at least once every six months.
You can't post on Instagram on PC, but you can watch all kinds of content.
The compass icon is the Explore Feed.
Here you see the posts that are recommended to you by the algorithms, just like in the search section of the app.
You don't have to be on your phone to look for inspiration or style for new posts.
Stories are opened in the same way as on the phone. To view a story, you need to click on it and hold the mouse. To go to the next one, there are arrows that replace the scrolling.
In general, the ribbon looks exactly the same as in the application.
Two functions that are more convenient than in the application are search and messages in Direct.
The most convenient way is to search for accounts, places and hashtags in the computer version.
There is a search here on every page, and not just in the “Interesting” tab. nine0003
The only negative is that you cannot search separately by hashtags, accounts or locations.
Recently, Direct has been added to the site, and now it is more convenient for managers to communicate with subscribers.
You can share links, type faster, and find the conversations you need.
Options are no different from mobile.
You can even send pictures to Direct from your computer.
The web version of Instagram will not replace the app.
But she will help if you need it urgently:

It often happens that a person logged into his Instagram account on someone else's device for temporary use and then forgot to log out.
It turns out that after that, the person on whose device was logged in has access to all data on your profile's Instagram - from the ability to publish and delete posts, to access to correspondence in Instagram Direct. This is a rather unpleasant situation, considering how much personal information each Instagram account stores. In this article, we will talk about a way to log out to Instagram from all devices or from individual unwanted devices if you do not have direct access to them. nine0003
Please note
The easiest way to log out of any Instagram account is to simply use the "Log Out" button on your account. But, if you do not have access to the device where you need to exit the social network, then our instructions are for you.
Table of contents
Consider a way to log out from a specific device on which you have logged into your Instagram profile and saved your login data. To do this, open the official Instagram mobile app on your phone.
nine0003
Pay attention
You won't be able to repeat similar actions through a browser on a computer, but the method described below works on a PC.
Switch to your profile at the bottom and click on the 3 bars in the top right corner.
Next, select “Settings”.
Click on the “Security” section.
There is an item "Account Logins" - select it.
In this section, you can see information about all recent logins to your Instagram account. nine0003
Please note
The geolocation indicated as the entry point is not always accurate. It is better to navigate by the date and time of entry, as well as by device, in order to identify one or another entry into the account.
To log out of someone else's Instagram device, click on the 3 dots next to the login to the account you want to log out of.
Next, click “Exit” at the bottom.
Confirmation will appear that the account has been logged out.

Important
If your account does not use two-factor authentication and the username/password data has been saved on the device where you signed in, you can sign in to your account again. In this case, follow the instructions below.
Instagram does not have a separate button that allows you to quickly log out of the social network profile on all devices. But you can do it in another way - just change the password. Then it will be requested again on those devices where the old password was saved to enter the account. nine0003
On the phone, open the menu by clicking on the 3 bars in the upper right corner from the profile page.
Next, go to the “Settings” section.
Select "Security".
The top line is “Password”, click on it.
After that, an email with a link to reset and change the password will be sent to the mail that is specified as a contact.
