How to set up and use Indic Phonetic keyboards

Windows 10 More...Less

Phonetic keyboards in Indian languages are available in 10 Indian languages including Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Odia, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The Indic Phonetic keyboards are in addition to the Indic Traditional INSCRIPT keyboards already available with Windows.

The phonetic keyboards are available starting from Windows 10 May 2019 Update, and Indian language users won’t need to download and install any external Input Method Editors (IMEs) to input Indic text in a phonetic style.

The transliteration rules used in the keyboards are based on ISO 15919. Different with Indic INSCRIPT Keyboards, Indic Phonetic Keyboards are based on natural pronunciation and users can use it immediately without any learning cost. As words are typed using the existing keyboard, Indic Phonetic keyboards transliterate them to suggest possible Indic text options. For instance, if we type “namaste” using the Phonetic keyboard, it will automatically suggest नमस्ते /ਨਮਸਤੇ/ નમસ્તે in Hindi/Punjabi/Gujarati.

Add Indic Phonetic keyboards:

  • Go to Time & Language in Settings and select the language from the navigation menu.

  • Click on the + icon labelled and add the preferred Indic language (by selecting into the search box and select it – for example “Hindi” and click on the next button and install the Indic language on the device, which will then return to the Language page).

  • Go to language page, select the language and then click the options button to go to language options page.

  • Add the keyboard by clicking the + icon and then select the type of keyboard.

  • Lastly, enable the phonetic keyboard by clicking on the input indicator on the taskbar (or press the Windows key + Space) and select the Indic Phonetic keyboard.

How to change the font in WhatsApp?

Did you know that WhatsApp allows you to change the font of your messages? This feature was added in one of the updates, but for those who use the messenger on older platforms and do not have the opportunity to update, this option is also available, albeit in a slightly different way.

  • Open the messenger and any correspondence.
  • Write the required text.
  • nine0007 Press and hold on it.

Instructions for Iphone and Android

To do this, you do not have to resort to third-party programs and services if you have an updated version of the messenger. And your interlocutor will also see the unusual fonts that you send him, as long as they have the same updated version. Otherwise, it will just be a set of characters of the wrong encoding. nine0003

How many available font options does WhatsApp have? Four:

  • Bold;
  • Italic;
  • Strikethrough;
  • Developer Font

If everything is more or less clear with the first three, then what does the developers' font look like? Just like the regular one, only slightly larger and with larger gaps between the letters. Not the most pleasant font to read, but still brings at least some variety to the correspondence.

To use the whatsapp developers font, you need to mark your message on both sides with three apostrophes, like this: ```Message```

Now let's talk a little more about the other three messenger fonts for older versions of the app.

How to make bold in Whatsapp

How to make bold in Whatsapp? Very simple. In this way, you can highlight especially important words in a message so as not to write in caps, you can highlight emotions or express your dissatisfaction. In general, you can use bold for anything. You can write in bold in old versions of WhatsApp as follows:

  • Go to any correspondence.
  • Dial a message.
  • Now you need to highlight it with asterisks (*) on both sides. Add these characters and send. After that, your message will become bold. So you can select not only the entire text, but also individual words.

How to write in italics on Whatsapp

Why do I need an italic font? They usually allocate something not particularly important. Also, some people use italics because they like it. How to write in italics in whatsapp in non-updated version? Read the following instruction:

  • Open whatsapp and the desired chat.
  • Write a message.
  • Further, similarly to the previous instruction, you need to highlight your message with special characters, namely the underscore (_) on both sides. Send a message and its font will change.

How to cross out a word in Whatsapp or write in strikethrough

Write in strikethrough WhatsApp can be used to visually cancel the written text, or just for fun. To erase a message but still send it, you can simply cross out some words or the entire text. In the old version of WhatsApp, you can strike out text as follows:

  • Enter the chat.
  • Enter text.
  • By analogy with other fonts, highlight the desired words on both sides with tilde characters (~). Send and enjoy the strikethrough font.
