How to schedule WhatsApp messages on Android and iOS

Just like how we schedule emails at work, it would be great to schedule WhatsApp messages. This comes in handy when you need to convey not-so-useful information to your friends, but don't bother them in the middle of the night or wish your mom a happy birthday because you won't be around. Let's see how to schedule whatsapp messages on your phone.

Schedule WhatsApp messages on Android

  1. SKEDit

SKEDit is the most popular app for scheduling messages from your phone. Along with WhatsApp, you can schedule text messages, emails, calls, and Facebook posts. It basically mimics how the user sends a text on WhatsApp and for this reason you need to grant a few special permissions. For example, it requires you to unlock your phone and grant permissions such as notification access and accessibility service in order to work properly. If the phone is locked, a notification will appear on the lock screen.

To make it work, install the application from the Play Store (link below), open it, select WhatsApp and write a message. After that, just select a recipient and a time to complete the scheduling. That's it, now put your phone aside and it will automatically send a text when the time is right.

  1. WA Auto Answer

OK, message scheduling is done, but there are times when you also want to reply to received messages. Autoresponder allows you to automate the entire process with a few simple steps. It tracks your notifications, looks for a relevant keyword, and triggers an appropriate response. Unlike SKEDit, it works even if your phone is unlocked, so that's a plus.

Schedule WhatsApp Messages on iOS

Scheduling WhatsApp messages on iOS is not possible unless you have a jailbroken iPhone. However, there is one workaround if you have iOS 13. The iOS 13 beta introduced Siri keyboard shortcut automation, which allows shortcut workflows to be triggered based on the time of day. You can create a small script that will automatically run an automation to send a WhatsApp message at a predetermined time.

Follow these steps if your iPhone is running the iOS 13 beta. Go to the Shortcuts app, select the Automation tab at the bottom, and click Personal Automation.

To schedule based on time, click Time of Day. Enter the time, day and click "Next". Now that your event trigger is set, we'll set up the action.

Click the Add Action button and type "text" into the search bar. In the results, select "Text" and click "Next".

You can enter the message you want to send via WhatsApp. Once you're done, click the Plus button to add another action. In the search bar, type "WhatsApp" and select "Send message via WhatsApp" from the results as shown in step 12 in the image below.

Now add a recipient from your contact list and click Next. You can add multiple recipients to an action, but this may or may not work because automation is still experimental in iOS 13 beta.0003

Now you're all set and when the time comes, the automation will automatically run and take you to the WhatsApp thread with the message already written in the text field.
