How to make someone your friend on facebook without them knowing
How to Make New Friendships Invisible on Facebook | Small Business
By Naomi Bolton
The registration and account security section of the Facebook terms and conditions states that you are not allowed to create more than one personal account. This means that you are not able to maintain multiple accounts to interact with friends, family and business associates separately. There is, however, a way to separate your business and personal acquaintances on Facebook through the use of lists and privacy settings. This allows you to hide certain aspects on your timeline, such as your friend list and new friendships, from people not authorized to view them.
Making New Friendships Invisible To Everyone
-
Navigate to the Facebook website and log in to your account.
-
Hover your mouse cursor over the "Friends" link and click "More."
-
Click "See All Friends" and then click the "Edit" button.
-
Click "Only Me" from the "Who can see your full friends list on your timeline" section. Any new as well as past friend requests that you accept will no longer appear on your timeline. Nobody will be able to see your friend lists either, making all friendships invisible except to yourself.
Making New Friendships Invisible To Selected People
-
Navigate to the Facebook website and log in to your account.
-
Hover your mouse cursor over the "Friends" link and then click "More."
-
Click "See All Friends" and then click "Create List."
-
Enter a name for the list, for example "Colleagues" or "Family." Enter the names of the people you want to add to the list in the "Members" section and click "Create."
-
Click "See All Friends" and then click the "Edit" button.
-
Click "Custom" from the "Who can see your full friends list on your timeline" section that opens.
-
Select "Specific People or Lists" from the "Make this visible to" section and then select the list that you created. Only the people on this list will be able to see your friend list and new friendships while it remains invisible to everyone else. Alternatively, select "Friends" from the "Make this visible to" section and then select the list that you created from the "Hide this from" section. This will make the new friendships invisible to everyone on the list that you created.
-
Click "Save Changes" to commit to the changes that you have made.

Hide One Friend From Another on Facebook
Because life can get complicated quickly
“Show me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are” might be a powerful saying. But in today’s digital world it’s all about privacy and keeping certain things to yourself. That’s especially relevant for social networks, as we tend to share more information there than we should.
For instance, when you add someone to your friends list on Facebook, you can see their friends and they can see yours by default. But for a variety of reasons, you might not want to give those kind of details about your private life to everyone.
Table of Contents
There could be a million reasons for wanting to hide friends on Facebook. Whether you’re trying to keep your professional and personal life separate, or just want to keep peace between yourself and two of your friends that hate each other, here’s how you can improve your Facebook privacy and hide your friends on Facebook from one another.
Hide Your Facebook Friends From EveryoneThis is the route you can take if you don’t want anyone at all to see who your Facebook friends are. You can simply change your privacy settings so that you’re the only one who can see your friends list. In order to do that, take the following steps:
- Log into your Facebook account and go to your profile page by clicking on your name in the upper-left corner.
- Go to your friends list by clicking on the Friends tab.
- On the Friends page, click on the pencil icon in the upper-right corner, then go to Edit privacy.
- In the pop-up window, click on the down arrow icon in the upper-right corner. There you’ll get different options for “Who can see your friends list“. Choose Only me and that will restrict people from seeing others on your friends list.
- Click Done to save changes.
As mentioned before, this will completely hide your friends list from anyone on Facebook. The only information other people will be able to see is mutual friends.
Keep in mind though that you can only control your own profile the same way your friends control theirs. That means that if you set your friends list to Only Me, and your friend has their friends list set to Public, people will still see that you’re friends on their profile.
Hide One Facebook Friend From AnotherIn case you find the first option a little hardcore and don’t want to hide friends on Facebook from absolutely everyone, there’s a different path to take.
Currently Facebook doesn’t have an option to prevent two people from seeing each other while still being able to see all of your other friends. The only way to get it done is to completely deny those two individuals access to your Facebook friends.
If for whatever reason you want to hide one of your Facebook friends from another, you’ll need to do the following:
- Follow the steps 1 to 3 from the process above.
- In Edit privacy window, click the down arrow icon again. Only this time choose Custom.
- In Custom privacy window, go to Don’t share with and type the names of both of your friends who you want to hide from one another. You can also just type one name in there if it’s just one person that you want to prevent from seeing your Facebook friends.
- Click Save Changes.
Alternatively, you can take a different route.
- Follow the steps 1 to 3 as described above.
- In Edit privacy, tap on the down arrow, and choose Friends except…
- Here type the name of a friend(-s) who you want to prevent from seeing your Facebook friends, or choose their name from the list.
- Click Save Changes.
In both scenarios, you will prevent those specific people from accessing your friends list. Except for them, everyone else will be able to see your friends on Facebook.
Many people have hundreds of Facebook friends, and managing all of them can be tricky. Friends list isn’t the only thing that you might want to keep to yourself. Tweaking certain privacy settings can help you hide your updates from specific Facebook friends. Or prevent people from seeing your Facebook online status.

Why can't I find someone on Facebook?Content:
If you want to add someone on Facebook, you need to find that person on Facebook. If you can find this person, you can send them a friend request to add them. But if the person added you or accepted your request, then only that person will be added to your Facebook friends list. nine0003
There may be several reasons why you can't add someone as a friend or find someone on Facebook. I will explain all the reasons and what can be done in such cases.
If you can't add someone, there are many reasons, for example, you have already sent a friend request, but the person has not accepted it yet, or you will not find the "Add Friend" button if this person has made changes to their settings privacy policy that only "Friends of Friends" can send friend requests. But, if you don't meet those criteria, you can't click the add friend button, in which case you can only send a message to the person, and that will also be in the message request section. If you get a person from any group, click "View Main Profile" and on the profile page you can add them. nine0003
If you can't find someone on Facebook, it could be because the person has deactivated their profile or is on your block list, which is why when you search for a person, their profile won't show up in search results, and once you unblock a person, you will be able to find their profile.
I will explain such causes or factors in a more detailed guide that may be helpful to you. Let's start.
Why can't I find anyone on Facebook? nine0023
If you can't find someone on Facebook, there may be two or more reasons why you can't see those profiles in Facebook search results. I just explained these main reasons below:
User blocked by you
If a user is blocked by you, you can't find the person in the search, I just experienced it myself. When you just unblock a person, you can actually find them in Facebook search.
While a person is blocked and you search for a person with more details on Google, links to this profile will be displayed there, and if you open these profiles, you may see a page not available error for this blocked profile. Now just open that link in an incognito window without logging in, and if that displays a profile, then it might be the person who blocked you, or you blocked them. nine0003
The user has deactivated their Facebook
If a user has simply deactivated their profile, you will not be able to view their profile either from your authorized profile or without logging in. In both cases, you won't be able to view that person in Facebook search or you won't be able to open their profile. If the person was on your friends list, they will be marked as a "Facebook User" in friends, and when they reactivate their profile, their name will reappear on your friends list. You don't need to add it to this case again. nine0003
Why can't I add someone as a friend on Facebook?
There are many reasons why you can't add someone on Facebook, and you should know that until that person adds your friend request, you won't be able to see them as a friend. The reasons why you cannot add a person to your friends list are as follows:
Go to main profile view to add
If you have seen someone in any Facebook group, then the people who interact in this group, and if you want to add them, you need to click on their name. This will open a page that shows the activity profile and to add a person you need to click on the View Main Profile option and then you will see an Add Friend button which will allow you to add the person to your Facebook. nine0003
You have already sent him a friend request
As I told you, when a person accepts your request, they will only be added to your friend list, and this is most often the main reason for adding someone to your friends list. If you even want to send another request, you must first cancel the sent one and add the person by clicking the "Add Friend" button again.
If you see a "Message Only" option on someone's profile, it's done through the privacy settings, which I'll explain here.
Facebook only allows its users to select friends of friends to send you a friend request, and if you don't see anyone as a mutual friend, you may not see the add friend button because the user has set it in the privacy settings for only friends friends. nine0003
Person on your blacklist
If the person is on your blacklist, you won't be able to send them a friend request or you won't even be able to find them. So, if you are facing a problem as described, to add someone, first check the person from your block list, and if the person is there, unblock them first, and then find the person and send them a friend request.
