Go pro to actually make it worth your while

If you’re going to be using Instagram extensively and care enough to use this to enhance your page, just pay the pro fee. It’s less than $4 USD, which is around the average price of a coffee.

There are claims that using this app to split images reduces the quality of the resulting split images. I have not noticed any drop in image resolution. For the intended purpose (of posting on Instagram and viewing images on smaller screens) this is fine. Don’t use this app to split your professional photography for gallery prints...

Simple, easy to use app.

Thank you for your kind words. We are always working to make the app better.

Why is this 4.8 Stars?

The app only lets you post two photos and save two photos. After that you have to pay. That’s not two WHOLE photos either. That’s one photo cut up into squares and each square is one photo. So if you use the layout with nine squares you basically waste your time posting less than half of the photo before you realise you have to delete the posts and download another app.

Great Until You’re Hijacked

You Can Only Split 2 Photos before a message letting you know to Go Pro at $7. 99 in order to gain lifetime use pops up & ends your project. I’m using it for a Non-Profit Companies Social Media account that I volunteer to assist, so was still just testing to see if this App is a good way to create more interest. However, I didn’t even get to post my 2nd Freebie Split photo, since I went back to do some edits before Splitting the updated image then was told, no more Free Photo Splits for me, Lol. Well Ok, the App works decently well & I would have given 4 stars if being at all upfront about needing to $Go Pro for the ability to post more than two pics.

How to post your grid on Instagram

You can auto-post to Instagram, or you can post manually.

To post manually:

  • Press on the post
  • Press on the “Share” button

Done.

Tip: Post individual images in the right order. Start posting from the bottom right corner of your screen and move your way left, and up.

Here are 3 useful features in Preview.

1. Change the order of your posts.

If your posts are not in the right order, you can move them.

You have 2 options:

  • Drag and drop (hold a finger on one post and drag it somewhere else), or
  • Swap (select the 2 images you want to swap, and press on the “arrows” button)

2. Prepare the captions for your posts.

Want to write a caption?

  • Press on the post
  • Press on the “Notes” button
  • Write your caption

Press on “Find Captions” if you want caption ideas.
Press on “Find Hashtags” to find hashtags.

Caption tip: Want your followers to know that the post is part of a bigger picture? Annotate the image. For example, if you split your big picture into 3 images, you can write “1/3” or “1 out of 3” in the caption of the first image you share.

3. Schedule.

Want to post later?

Press on “Schedule Post”.

You can choose to:

  • Set yourself a reminder to post, or
  • Auto-post later (tag people and location in advance too if you need)

Now that you know how to use the Instagram Grid Splitter, let’s look at creative Instagram grid ideas.

Creative Instagram grid ideas with split photos

Let’s look at 5 grid ideas.

Square grid

Split a photo in 9 parts, to create a square.
Ideal to create a suspense, photo reveal, product reveal, new campaign launch, or the launch a new Instagram page.

Columns

Want to split photos vertically? You can split the photo in 2 or 3 posts.
Recommended for a simple and unique feed.

  • Outfit pictures
  • Selfies
  • Close-ups
  • Landscape photos

Row

Split a photo into 3 pictures in a row (horizontal). You can also choose to split in 2 pictures in a row.

Mix

Mix different grids to create your own unique feed. For example, I used 3 different grid splits for the feed below: “Square“, “1 column” and “2 Columns

Puzzle feed

And now, my personal favorite way to use the image splitter tool: to create a Puzzle Feed.

Use the last two grid options in Preview to split your image into 12 or 15 smaller posts.

Why 12 or 15 posts? Because it’s the perfect number of posts to create a full screen seamless feed effect.

In seconds, Preview will split your images into smaller posts.

Here are Puzzle Feed ideas with 5 rows:

Tip: Make your big image the perfect size. This way each individual image will be high quality.

  • 4 rows = 12 posts = 3240×4320px (that’s 3,240px width and 4,320 height)
  • 5 rows = 15 posts = 3240×5400px (that’s 3,240px width and 5,400 height)

Have fun!

There are more image splitting options in Preview.

So have fun splitting your photos to create your own unique feed!

How to create a mosaic on Instagram*

October 27, 2017 Web services

Turning your Instagram* into a work of art is easy. It is enough to evenly cut the photo you have taken.

What kind of mosaic?

Look at what @micahnotfound or @c.syresmith are doing with their accounts. You can do the same.

How to do?

Desktop editors

You can cut a photo into equal parts in any graphics editor such as Photoshop or GIMP. Just open the photo in the editor, divide it into equal square parts and save each part as a separate file. nine0003

Photoshop

From the View menu, choose Show→Grid. Go to the Edit menu and open Preferences → Guides, Grid and Slices.

You can divide the image into parts depending on the panorama you want to create. Just enter the desired value in the "Internal division by" field.

Now that your image is divided into parts, select and copy the desired fragments into separate files.

GIMP

Go to the View menu and enable the Show Grid and Snap to Grid options. Then click on "Image", select "Adjust Grid" and split the image into parts. nine0003

Select parts of the image one by one, copy and save to separate files using "File" → "Create" → "From Clipboard". Use the hotkeys Ctrl + C and Shift + Ctrl + V to speed up the process.

Web services

Divide a photo into equal parts using web services such as Griddrawingtool.com and Imgonline.com. It's faster and easier.

When the image is cut, you can start uploading. Just remember to upload the bottom right piece of the photo first and the top left piece last. nine0003

How to add multiple photos to Instagram - detailed instructions

One of the popular content formats on Instagram* is image galleries in posts. Users choose the carousel for a number of reasons. For example, you need to tell a single visual story or publish a series of useful cards. Or you don’t want to bore subscribers with photos from the same location or the same event, but at the same time there is a need to post several equally cool ones. Agree, sometimes it is very difficult to choose? :-) nine0003 An example of a series of cards in an Instagram post*: informative tips from the Kinzhal magazine. Post link

Posting multiple photos on Instagram* may also be needed for Stories. Collages of photos and videos, firstly, remain a visual trend in design, and secondly, they allow you to demonstrate the “before and after” effect, different sides of your product. Thirdly, such compositions allow the brand to stand out, detail the elements of the big picture and show the integrity of the product, which helps to achieve a certain effect from your Stories. Collages of several photos can also be used as a background, for example:

Clothing brand Antipod uses the series to announce the new Introvert collection in the Stories section. Link to Story

Let's look at all the technical possibilities to attach multiple photos on Instagram* and what are the limitations.

How many photos can be posted on Instagram*: requirements and restrictions

Gallery in the feed: from 2 to 10 photos per post .

Stories Collage mode: 2 to 6 photos . nine0003

Using the "Photo" sticker - there are no restrictions on the number of added photos . But, of course, to add too much means to clutter up the already small space of History. In addition, the sticker now allows you to add a video, and also choose the shape of the added photo. In 2022, after the next update, there are also 5 different options for processing pictures for the Story: a square, a square with rounded edges, a circle, an asterisk, a heart.

Selecting a grid in Collage mode and working with Instagram photo sticker* is very easy

In addition, in 2021, a new mode appeared in the Stories section - Photo Booth in the Stories section. This is another way to upload multiple photos to Instagram*.

The number of photos in the "Photo Booth" mode is exactly 4 . No more, no less. After shooting, they replace each other in a looped mode. Users can change the transition effect between these photos, at the moment there are 6 modes: Flash, Highlight, Filmstrip, B/W Filmstrip, Photo Tape, VHS. nine0003

Since Stories as a format in terms of popularity and functionality has long been ahead of the classic tape, they have more opportunities for publishing a series of photos and they are more interesting. The photo gallery in the feed has not changed much since the release, but the developers have made some improvements, for example:

  1. You can change the order of the pictures in the photo carousel.
  2. The filter can be applied both to a single picture in the gallery and to the entire series as a whole.
  3. At the creation stage, you can delete a photo from the future gallery at any time. nine0134

Why is posting a few photos on Instagram* OK? Advantages of

And who most often needs to publish several photos at once?

Definitely all retail. From cosmetic companies to clothing brands. Showing a product from different angles is priceless.

All areas of online education. A series of visual stories (informative and not so) is a good and visually appealing trend. When the story is accompanied by illustrations, it turns out intelligibly. nine0003

Actually, the niche is not important. It is important to understand what kind of content your audience wants and what opportunities you have to provide it. For example, we have written for you what services you can sell on Instagram*.

Why posting a lot of photos at once on Instagram* is ok? Because you can talk about a corporate holiday, post a few photos from a family trip, vote, post a cool recipe, post a series of tips from an expert… Or continue the story by posting a screenshot of the text, because the post description didn’t fit entirely. nine0003 Instagram collage* Stories for inspiration or opinion gathering, useful post from an expert – using multiple photos in one post is always convenient. Link to post

The main advantage of the format is the ability to fit one cool but visually meaningful story of your brand or yourself into a single post.

Another plus is that the presentation in series format will be concise and concise. A group of photographs or hand-drawn pictures should be carefully thought out, from sequence to content. It's basically a mini-series. And in order for such a format to be appreciated, you will have to try. nine0003

In addition, collages of several published photos on Instagram* suggest a visual combination of elements: contrast or vice versa the overall color scheme does not matter. You need to have taste or a good designer so that users can appreciate your creativity. So the complexity of this format simultaneously affects the quality of content on the social network, requires more investment and effort from brands, and makes us, the layman, a little happier. Visual perfection is an important part of content, which is why we, by the way, have released an article for business on how to write a TOR for an Instagram profile designer*. nine0003

Now to the technical part - how to upload a series of photos to Instagram*.

How to post a lot of photos on Instagram * - instructions

Let's analyze all the possible ways to publish several photos.

Through a mobile application on the phone

Everything is simple here, regardless of the operating system that you use on your smartphone: press the plus sign, select the format - for example, History. In the History, to add several photos, you can either select the “Photobooth” or “Collage” mode and continue working there (I already wrote about the features above). Or post multiple photos on Instagram* using a sticker. nine0003 How to post multiple photos in Stories mode

To post multiple photos on your Instagram feed*, select "Post" from the list, click on the double square icon at the bottom right, and circles will appear next to the photo on the screen - select the desired photos in the correct order . Continue your work, select the necessary filters if necessary, or add more pictures to the future gallery. Done, it remains to sign and publish.

How to add multiple photos to Instagram*

If you hold your finger on a slide in the photo gallery for a long time before publishing, you will see a trash icon - you can delete an unwanted object by simply moving the picture to the icon. Please note that in the gallery with only two shots, this will not work.

On the web version of Instagram* from a computer

Neither emulator apps nor developer mode can add multiple photos to Instagram* via a computer. Especially before writing the article, I tried all kinds of ways to download the gallery from a computer, none of them work. Can't upload multiple photos at once, only one is posted:

Bitter reality – the web version of Instagram*, even in emulators and in developer mode, is limited to uploading one photo deferred posting SMMplanner. The service offers various options for regular posting: for example, through the official Instagram API*.
