Instagram Action Block: What Is It?

If your actions (likes, comments, follows, posting, sharing stories or any other actions you could usually take on the platform) cannot be performed any longer, it means that Instagram blocked them and restricted you from being active on the platform. With such a block, you can't like anyone, follow any users, comment on their posts, or even share your own content.

Types of Instagram Action Blocks

There are various types of the block. Here they are:

Instagram Temporary Block

The temporary block is the most common action block implemented by Instagram. It usually lasts up to 24 hours. You may get it after you break some of Instagram’s terms of service.

Instagram Action Block with an Expiration Date

Another type of action blocks on Instagram is one with an expiration date. The name speaks for itself — this type of block tell you the date up to which the block lasts. This block usually lasts from 24 hours to 30 days.

Instagram Action Block without an Expiration Date

The duration of the block may vary from several hours up to two weeks. This type of block usually doesn’t have the Tell us button unlike all other types, so if you’re sure you haven’t done anything wrong but still got flagged, you may request a manual review going to Instagram Settings ->Help ->Report a Problem.

Permanent Instagram Action Block

As the name of the block entails, you can’t remove this type of block. The reason why such blocks are applied is the violation of multiple Instagram rules. If your account has been temporarily blocked several times or if other users report your profile, you are at risk of getting a permanent Instagram action block.

What Can Trigger the Instagram Action Block?

Action blocks are typically caused by the exceeded number of actions you perform in a window of time — per hour or day. Once you exceed the allowed hourly or daily actions limits, your actions might get blocked by Instagram.

Here's how Combin Growth prevents you from exceeding the actions

The limit set by the platform may vary depending on your account age, previous violations of Instagram rules, misuse of automation third-party tools or bots, your previous activity, and some other things we’ll discuss below.

Knowing all the reasons that trigger action blocks will help you avoid such an issue in the future and remove the Instagram block from your account.

Why does Instagram block your actions?

You exceed the Instagram daily and/or hourly action limits

Instagram has limits applied to actions that are to be performed by each user an hour or a day. In June 2019, Instagram reduced the limits for about half, so now, even those users who perform all the actions manually are at risk of getting blocked if they exceed these limits.

The action limits touch on likes, comments, follow/unfollow actions, and even users’ data loading. The exact limits are not yet revealed and may be different for each account depending on its age and activity level.

Your account is too young

Your account age has a direct impact on the allowed number of actions you can perform from this account. The younger your account is, the more limits it has. If your account is 1–3 months old, you should gradually increase the number of actions you do.

Otherwise, the boost of activity will be detected by Instagram as suspicious, even if you do it all manually.

Your link in bio is restricted

If the website address you shared in your bio is something that Instagram doesn't like, it can lead to the action block.

You have already violated Instagram rules

Previous violations such as blocks or reports sent by other users can cause action blocks as well. The number of allowed daily actions diminishes once you break Instagram guidelines.

If you post prohibited content on Instagram like sexual content, hate speech, fake news, and alike or violate the copyright policy of Instagram, you will be flagged.

Moreover, if you’ve violated the guidelines from one account, it may influence your other profiles run with the same IP address. That’s why it’s so vital to use different IPs while using several Instagram profiles. To ensure the safe Instagram promotion of several accounts, use proxies or VPN.

You are slightly active on Instagram at all

Instagram tracks your activity on the platform, so if you only check it a couple of times a day to like several people, it reduces your limits on daily actions. In this case, perform your actions slowly increasing them week by week.

And be more active on Instagram! Upload photos, videos, stories and interact with other Instagrammers.

You’re too active on Instagram

If you don’t post anything on Instagram, that’s one extreme. But if you post way too much, this is the other one.

The thing is that if you upload new posts several times a day every day of the week, Instagram and your followers consider it spam-like. To keep a balance, you should post 3–7 times a week when your followers are active.

You misuse automation

There still are ways to use automation tools properly; now, it just demands consciousness from your end. To get the most out of automation tools, mix different types of actions, don’t repeat the same tasks, and don’t perform similar tasks within the same windows of time.

For instance, if you use any third-party tool for Instagram growth and utilise it only for liking, you should change your strategy asap.

Act like a human within your tool; comment manually on the native Instagram app or follow people automatically, but some time later unfollow them gradually without any tools.

Combine the automation with manual use and don’t forget to like posts from your feed because, well, that’s what people usually do on Instagram.

If you comment on other users’ posts within a tool like Combin Growth, make templates of different comments in advance.

All in all, always alter your actions and keep in mind your account age, overall activity rate, number of followers and posts, and types of actions you perform.

Don’t automate all your actions and try to like, comment, and follow within those daily or hourly limits.

Your actions are too 'heavy'

Have you ever thought why the action limits differ? This is because all the Instagram action types have different ‘weight’. If you use only commenting, for instance, your overall action restrictions elevate. Likes are the lightest actions in terms of limits.

You log in with various IP addresses and/or devices

If you log in to your Instagram account from a different IP address or device and you can’t confirm via email or an SMS code that this is you, Instagram thinks your profile has been hacked and tries to protect it.

This is why you need to set up the two-factor authentication to be able to confirm to the system that you are the rightful owner of the account.

If you try to promote your Instagram page by spamming under other people’s posts and in their DMs, Instagram will punish you for this. No one likes spammers, and Instagram is not an exception.

If the system cannot detect you on its own, don’t worry, other users will gladly give it a hint by reporting your page for spam-like activity.

If you still join different engagement groups in 2020, you should stop ASAP. Instagram easily detects such activity and blocks all the members.

How to Fix the Instagram Action Block

In order to answer this question, we’ve done some research and looked through forums to find effective tips on how to remove the Instagram action block. Here’s what we and other users recommend:

  1. Reinstall your Instagram app.

The most obvious way is to delete your Instagram app and relaunch it. After that, the cookies and other data collected by Instagram should be removed, which is helpful in getting rid of the action block, especially the temporary one.

2. Report a problem.

Primarily, if you did nothing wrong. When the ‘action blocked’ error pops up, it usually has two options: Tell us and Ignore. To request a manual review by Instagram, tap the Tell us button.

But some types of error pop-ups have no other option but OK. In this case, do the following: press Settings > Help > Report a Problem. In the text field, write that for some reason you’ve been blocked though you haven’t done anything wrong (try it even if you’ve done).

This should be done even if you spam or use third-party tools for growing your account. This action of yours will show Instagram that you’re not a bot.

FYI: In February 2020, Instagram implemented a new appeals process for disabled accounts. It means that now if your account is disabled and about to be deleted, you can appeal direct from the log-on screen.

Social Media Today

So when you log in and see a message about your account to be deleted, you can either Download Data to get access to your content or Request Review. If you choose the second option, you will need to fill in your full name, Instagram username, and tell Instagram why you think they’ve made a mistake. Instagram will review your appeal which takes up to 24 hours.

3. Switch to mobile data.

The reason for your actions blocked might be your IP address. Sometimes, Instagram even blocks accounts at the stage of creating ones if it doesn’t like the IP. So after you see any errors, switch from the Wi-Fi to the mobile data.

4. Link your Instagram account to Facebook.

Now Instagram allows creating Business and Creator accounts without connecting them to Facebook. If your account is not linked to Facebook and it has been threatened with the action block, link it to your Facebook page.

Thus you’ll prove that you’re not a bot. To make it even better, you can link your Instagram page to other socials.

5. Log in with another device.

Change the device you log in to Instagram. Try using another phone, tablet, or even PC.

6. Wait it out for 24–48 hours.

All of the aforementioned ways may or may not help. If none of the above enables you to get rid of the Instagram action block, wait it out, and your block will disappear shortly. Even better if you stop any of the Instagram actions for 24 or 48 hours. Don’t use Instagram or any third-party tool within this period of time.

Besides, don't create a new Instagram account right away because if the reason for the action block is your banned IP address, it will ban your new account as well.

How To Remove Action Block On Instagram [Fast And Easy] | by Adam Dimitrijevic

Sorry for the silly image, but it works well on YT and I don’t have time right now to make a new one.

As I’ve promised, today I’m going to be sharing 8 different ways that have worked for us in removing the action block on Instagram. I also want to mention that these methods yielded 87% success rate in solving the action block problem, which pretty much means that 9 out of 10 people with the action block problem will be able to fix it, if they try all of these methods. I also want to mention that each of these methods is pretty easy and fast to do, so there’s really no reason not to try all of them.

I also want to note that we’ve done extensive testing to see what affects the action limits and how to increase it, and I definitely recommend you to check that as well, since it’s going to help you avoid action blocks in the future.

These methods work for each action block (follow blocks, like blocks, comment blocks and DM blocks).

As always, I’ve also published a video covering this, and if you like to learn by watching instead of reading, I got you covered.

Remove Instagram Action Block Full Video (8 Different Methods)

If you, however, like to learn by reading, then go ahead and continue.

In my previous article, I’ve mentioned that there are 3 different types of action blocks. Depending on the type of action block you’ve received you will know if you are going to be able to fix it using some of the methods I’m going to mention later or you have to just wait it out.

Before I go over different types of action blocks I want to mention that Instagram’s AI started to go pretty crazy with these blocks recently, probably because they are still tweaking settings, and pretty often they are falsely flagging users and blocking their actions without a real reason. If you are just a regular user, and you absolutely did nothing wrong, make sure to report a problem to Instagram, and your action block is going to be fixed most of the times. If you’ve tried that already or you think you did something wrong than continue reading.

1. Temporary action block: This one is usually the most common and expires pretty fast from several hours to 24h. Methods I’m going to mention later work pretty well with this type of action block.

2. Action block with an expiration date: This one has the time stamp saying when exactly it’s going to expire. Methods I’m going to mention later usually have pretty low success rate with this type of action blocks and your best bet is to wait it out. Sometimes however it can be fixed, but in general, it’s pretty rare.

3. Action block without an expiration date: This one is usually the worst, since it doesn’t have an expiration date and can last from several hours to two weeks. Some of the fixing methods usually work with this one, which is great since if you just wait it out you can lose up to two weeks.

Now since I’ve covered that and you know your chances of getting the action block lifted, let’s go over different methods you should try to fix the action block.

I’ve already mentioned this, but I want to mention it again since when we were testing we had the most success with it. Send a request to Instagram to manually review your account once the action block message pops up. You should absolutely do this, even if you are doing follow-unfollow or spamming with comments or likes. As I’ve mentioned Instagram is fighting with bots and when you request a manual review or report a problem, it will definitely let Instagram know that you are not a bot. If you don’t get unblocked within the first 12 hours, send it again. You can send as many requests as you want. Sometimes, they will miss the first message or two, so it’s much better to send multiple times.

With this method, we got unblock success rate of almost 50% and we DID spam with actions heavily, so it definitely works. Sometimes, you won’t get the option to request a manual review on the action block message, but you can go to Settings>Help>Report A Problem and just explain that you can’t like or follow and you don’t know why because you did nothing wrong. Pretty simple and fast to do, yet this is one of the most effective methods, especially for people who actually did nothing wrong.

I’ve already mentioned multiple times, that you should use Instagram manually and stop with automation if you haven’t already delete all 3rd party apps and tools and change your IG password. Even scheduling apps and tools can cause the action block, that’s why advise you should avoid 3rd party scheduling apps, and that you should use Instagram’s own scheduling feature instead. The best thing you can do to make sure you’ve removed all access is to enable Two-Factor Authentication. A lot of people don’t know this, but when you enable two-factor authentication, you will basically let Instagram know that you are not using 3rd party tools, and you will increase your accounts health and trust score with this. This can lift your action block immediately, but if not, it will definitely help avoid another in the future.

Rewrite your BIO and remove link from your BIO, if you have one. This worked for one of my friends recently, it’s easy and there’s no reason not to try it. In the previous article, I’ve mentioned that a link in BIO increases your chances to get the action block and decreases your action limit. While you are doing f/ uf or some other methods that require high usage of actions, definitely avoid having a link in BIO.

Delete the Instagram app and install it again. This should delete the cookies, cache and other things that Instagram is capturing. We had some success lifting temporary action blocks with this one and I’ve also seen people of forums mentioning that it worked for them on other types of action blocks as well. Pretty easy to do and again there’s no reason not to try it.

Switch to mobile data/ 4G network. As I’ve already mentioned in my other article, we’ve noticed that it’s easier to get action blocked while using your home IP than 4G mobile internet. If that’s the reason you got the action block this should fix it immediately.

A lot of people asked me if there’s a cheap method to use 4G only and how I’m doing this. I don’t know where are you from, but in my country (Serbia) there are SIM solutions with a flat rate data for Instagram usage (around 5$ per month) and I’m using that. You should check if mobile providers in your country have something similar. I’m also currently testing different 4G proxies, and if I find some cheap reliable solution, I will let you know.

You can go one step further and switch the device you are using — try to log in on some other phone or tablet, sometimes even logging on PC helps. We had a high success rate of fixing action blocks without an expiration date and temporary blocks with this and the previous one.

Link your Instagram account to a Facebook page or a profile. If that doesn’t help switch from personal to business or creator and vice-versa. As I’ve mentioned we have noticed that Instagram accounts which have been linked to a Facebook page seem to have higher action limit. Business accounts have an even higher limit and finally, creator accounts seem to have the highest limit so if this doesn’t help remove action block immediately, it can definitely help to prevent another action block once you get unblocked.

Note: Be careful when switching to a business account, recently some of my friends reported having an engagement drop on some of their accounts, once they’ve switched to business. This has never happened to me, so I can’t speak from my own experience, but these are the people that I trust, and that’s why I advise caution. I plan to do some tests on this (switching to business account) and creator account as well, so stay tuned for that.

If you have some money, spend some money on ads — promote one of your posts. This has lifted action blocks for us in several cases, and I’ve also mentioned in the previous video that accounts who spend some money on ads (even as little as 5$) have higher action limits which should also help you avoid another action block in the future.

If none of these methods worked for you then unfortunately you will have to wait it out. As I’ve mentioned sometimes action block message comes with the expiration date and sometimes it doesn’t. Action blocks usually last from 12 to 48 hours, but sometimes they can last for up to two weeks. If that’s the case and you don’t want to wait that long, you can start growing another account while you’re waiting to get unblocked. Don’t forget to check how to avoid action blocks if you haven’t already, and if you have another device I would advise you to start the new account on that device using mobile data.

Right now, unfortunately, there’s nothing else you can do, but since I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about action blocks on their personal accounts where they actually have done nothing wrong, I’m sure Instagram will take it a bit easier in the future, because they are really starting to get their users angry, which is just bad for business.

In my opinion, these action blocks and limits are not a bad thing, let me explain why. A lot of people using bots have already switched from Instagram to other social media platforms, and a lot more will probably also switch in the future, which means much less competition for people who are doing things manually, using right methods. A lot of other people that are not using bots, but had problems with action blocks, got really annoyed by this and stopped growing Instagram pages as well since they don’t know why they are getting blocked, and don’t want to spend time searching or testing.

In one of my niches, where I have a page that’s #2 in terms of followers and growth, competition almost halved. A ton of pages stopped or reduced posting since June 2019 (when the action block started). The page that’s been #1 in this niche, stopped using fan page strategy (I’m going to cover this in the future) and their growth reduced by almost 70%. My page is now growing much faster than their page, and it seems that I’m going to pass them in terms of followers in October 2019. Once that happens my revenue will probably double. I’m seeing a similar trend in all niches that I’m working in on Instagram.

Since these action blocks are really preventing users to spam with following, I think follow-unfollow method, if done right, will actually start bringing even better results than before. If you haven’t already make sure to check my video where I’m explaining how to do follow unfollow method in depth, so far I haven’t received any action block on my new page which I’m growing from 0 to 10k using follow-unfollow method, so it still works and as I’ve mentioned it will probably going to work better than ever before.

If I stumble upon some other method that can potentially fix the action block, I’m going to list it here, since I can’t edit my YouTube video after uploading.

If you liked these tips and they’ve helped you, make sure to share it with your friends (It will help me a lot, and it will also help your friends).

If you’ve found out about some other way to lift the action block, please leave a comment explaining what method did you used and I’m going to list that method here and give you a shoutout.

As I’ve mentioned in my video, I’ve been working on a video/ article about the best hashtag practices, but since a lot of people are complaining about problems with action blocks, I’ve decided to address this issue first. The next thing you can expect is the video and article about hashtags, so stay tuned for that.

How to hide who I follow on Instagram

On the advice of your friends, you have finally signed up for Instagram , so now you can post photos and videos and share them with people all over the world. You are satisfied with your choice and in order to increase the number of subscribers, you yourself began to subscribe to different people. Subsequently, however, in an effort to maintain your privacy, you became concerned that other users might see the names of people you follow.

If this is the case and you are looking for an answer to the question, how to hide your following on Instagram ? You will be happy to know that in the next chapters of this guide, I will show you in detail what solutions you can use to do this, acting through the official social network app for Android and iOS, as well as from the web and through the Instagram app for Windows 10.

Before than to explain how to hide who you follow on Instagram , I have to give you a very important preliminary information. You should be aware that in the current state of things, there is no special feature that allows you to hide the people you follow. Don't worry : you can still succeed in your design by taking two alternative solutions: make your account private or block users who you want to make your data and content inaccessible to.

Activating private mode for your profile means that all the contents of your account (published photos and videos, as well as the names of people you follow and who follow you) can be viewed only your current subscribers or those you approve as new subscribers.

However, if you decide to block an individual on Instagram , not only will they no longer be able to see who you follow on the social network, but they will also no longer be able to find your account, view your profile and everything related to you , including your photos, videos and comments.

The choice of solution is up to you, your needs and preferences. In any case, do not worry: both options are completely reversible operations.

Activate the Instagram private profile mode

After reviewing the prerequisites, the following lines will show you how to boost your profile details through the Instagram app for Android or iOS, as well as through the web and the Windows 10 app.

Android and iOS

To make your profile private using the Instagram app for Android or iOS, you must first launch the respective app and access your account.

After that, click on the little man icon (or profile thumbnail ) located in the lower right corner to go to your profile section. Then press the button Menu (three horizontal bars) located in the upper right corner and press the item Settings at the bottom of the menu.

Then go to item Privacy Account privacy , and then activate the toggle switch located opposite entry Closed account to confirm the operation.

If necessary, you can return to the Instagram section you just indicated and move the switch that you will find in the “My Account” item to the “OFF” position so that your profile becomes public again.

PC Activation

If you want to make your Instagram account private, you can also do it from the Internet or using the Windows 10 app. The procedures to be followed are the same in both cases.

To get started, connect to a well-known photography social network by logging into your account from the official website or launching the Windows 10 app from the icon located in the Start menu.

Then click your profile thumbnail located in the upper right corner to access your profile screen, click the button with the gear icon and in the menu that appears, click on the "Privacy and Security" item. Finally tick Closed account .

If you later decide to deactivate the privatization of your profile, uncheck the box and confirm the privacy changes by clicking OK.

Block someone on Instagram

Are you considering blocking someone on Instagram to hide your profile and all information about you? In that case, follow the instructions I'll provide you with in the following paragraphs and you'll learn how to do it with the Android, iOS app, or with the web version of Instagram and the Windows 10 app.0005

Block on Instagram via Android and iOS

Do you want to hide the list of people you follow and the rest of your Instagram content for a specific user? In this case, to do so through the Instagram app for Android or iOS, you must first launch it and access your account.

Once this is done, identify the profile of the person you want to block by clicking on their name via Instagram stream or manually through a search engine (magnifying glass icon).

When the corresponding user's profile is displayed, press the ... button located in the upper right corner; then click on the item Lock in the displayed menu and confirm the lock by clicking the Lock button again.

If you hesitate, you can access the blocked users section to reverse the action. To do this, click on the icon man located at the bottom and press the menu button located at the top right.

Now in the displayed menu, click Settings , then go to Privacy Blocked Accounts to find the list of blocked users.

To unblock a user, press his name and confirm the procedure by double-clicking the Unblock button.

Blocking an Instagram user from a computer

As for blocking an Instagram user through the official website or Windows 10 app, the procedure is just as simple.

To start , log in to your Instagram account on the main page of the service or by launching the app for Windows 10 through the Start menu.

Find the user you want to block via thread or search. Once this is done, click on the vertical ellipsis button located in the upper right corner and click on link Block this user from the menu shown to you.

To unblock the user, find the corresponding user's profile again and double-click the Unblock button.

Hide your Instagram followers: 4 effective ways

Unauthorized users can see information on subscriptions and followers on open pages. To hide subscriptions on Instagram, you need to know a few "tricks".

Contents

  • Why hide Instagram followers and is it possible to do it
    • Method 1: make your page private
    • Method 2: block access to a specific person
    • Method 3: create a second profile
    • Method 4: remove search by phone number
  • Proper privacy settings

Why hide Instagram followers and is it possible to do it

There is no function to hide individual sections in the Instagram privacy settings.

But you can hide subscriptions from others in the following ways:

  • make the page private. Restrict access to strangers to view information;
  • block a specific person. That is, send him to the "black list";
  • unfollow everyone;
  • add another profile. Clean account, no posts;
  • remove search by phone number. So that acquaintances and friends do not find the page.

The first option is suitable for owners of personal pages without business settings. This profile category is public until privacy settings are specified. For business accounts, this option is not provided. By transferring the page to the “closed” status, additional functionality will automatically disappear.

Locking is easier - it is available on all types of profiles. The blocked user will not be notified that they have been moved to the "black list". But it will be possible to view the information through another profile on Instagram or by clicking on the link using a browser.

By hiding the phone number, the account owner forbids searching for it by contact information. Those users who have recently registered will not see him in the lists of recommended friends.

Method 1: make your page private

Hidden subscriptions are available on private profiles. Going to such a page, a message will appear: "Account is hidden by privacy settings." To view a photo or video, you need to send a request to confirm your subscription. The page owner can accept or decline the addition request.

How to switch to private settings:

  1. Open the Instagram application - log in.
  2. My account - side menu " Settings ".
  3. Privacy - Profile type.
  4. Move the slider to the Closed state.

With open business parameters, Instagram will offer to switch to a personal account and after that, to the “Closed” status. Also, when connecting to additional functionality, a message will appear on the page: " Make your profile public ".

Subscription requests are displayed in the tab: "Notifications" - Requests. Next to the application there are buttons: "Accept" or "Reject".

Method 2: block access to a specific person

Is it possible to hide subscriptions from a specific person or subscribers? Only through blocking accounts. Blocked users cannot view photos, videos, stories and follow the page. Instead, the sections of the profile will be canceled subscribers, subscriptions and publications.

How to hide subscriptions from a subscriber:

  1. Log in to Instagram - select the profile of a specific user.
  2. Jump - click on the top three dots.
  3. In the drop-down menu: Block.
  4. Confirm blocking.

You can find subscribers from the "black list" in the "Privacy" section by going to the application settings. The blocking is mutual, that is, it will not work to see the profile of the blocked person. Instagram automatically denies access, regardless of the desire of the account owner.

Method 3: create a second profile

One of the options on how to limit your page from others and prohibit viewing subscriptions is to use another page. This is a separate clean account that can become personal, blogs or work only for correspondence.

How to make a second page on Instagram:

  1. Enter the social network - click on your nickname at the top.
  2. Below: "Add account" - Register a new one.
  3. Specify data and connect another phone number or email.

To create another page, the user needs to register with different data. This list includes an email address or phone number.

After creating the page, a switch will appear at the top, through which you can change accounts. They are not linked, so subscribers will not be able to detect it.

Method 4: Remove search by phone number

You can enable a feature in the application that allows other users to search for an account by number. Connecting the phone book means that all recorded ones will also be displayed.

How to remove:

  1. Open Instagram from the computer version.
  2. Log in - Settings.
  3. Disable my profile recommendations.

After - you need to edit the access parameters via smartphone.

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone.
  2. Applications - Instagram.
  3. Permissions - Phone book.
  4. Disable.

Now, the profile owner will not receive recommendations about their friends who have recently registered with the social network. The same works in reverse: new users who have a number in the phone book will not see this person. But before editing permissions, you need to check: how the number is connected to the page on Instagram.

Correct privacy settings

Instagram does not have settings to block sections. Therefore, profile owners are left to unsubscribe from subscriptions or block selected profiles. But blocking is also affected by social network limits - no more than 100 people per hour.
