How to Download Facebook Photos and Videos

Facebook is a treasure trove of memories of you and your friends, so you may want to download Facebook photos and videos to your computer or phone.

We'll show you the official methods as well as third-party Facebook photo downloader apps, allowing you to download your photos, your friends' photos, and videos.

How to Download Facebook Photos

If you want to save a single photo on Facebook, don't bother with third-party apps or websites. Facebook itself offers an easy downloader tool.

  • On desktop: Open the photo, click on Menu (the three-dot icon) > Download.
  • On mobile: Open the photo in the Facebook app, tap Menu (the three-dot icon) > Save to Phone (Android) or Save Photo (iOS).

You can use this method to download Facebook photos. It's as simple as that.

However, to download your friends' Facebook photos, their Facebook photo privacy settings should allow for it.

How to Download Facebook Albums

If you want to download a Facebook album from your own profile, Facebook has a simple method to do that. Again, you don't need any third-party downloader apps for this. However, you'll need to use Facebook on the web since the mobile apps don't let you download albums.

Follow these steps to download your Facebook album:

  1. Navigate to your profile by clicking your own name.
  2. Go to Photos > Albums.
  3. Open the album that you want to download.
  4. In the top-right corner, click the three-dot icon and select Download Album.
  5. Next, select Continue.

Facebook will get to work creating a zipped folder. Depending on the size of the album, this can take some time. Once it's done, you will get a notification telling you that the album is ready to download. Click the notification, enter your Facebook password, and select Continue. Your album will immediately start downloading.

The downloaded album comes as a ZIP file. You'll need to extract this ZIP file to access the pictures.

How to Download All of Your Facebook Photos

There is also a simple method to download all photos from Facebook that you have ever uploaded. You will even get them in the right sub-folders organized by album. But the names of the files can be a little strange.

Here's how to use the easy built-in Facebook photo downloader:

  1. Head to Facebook settings on your desktop browser or use the link facebook.com/settings.
  2. Click Your Facebook information in the sidebar.
  3. Select Download your information.
  4. Choose the quality of the image files under Select file options. We recommend changing Medium to High if you want full-resolution copies. The setting you choose will determine the size of the file. If you have a lot of pictures, this will increase the file size and the time taken by Facebook to get it ready.
  5. Under Select information to download, click Deselect all, then select only the Posts box.
  6. Next, select the date range. Select All time to include all your photos.
  7. Scroll down and click Request a download.

Facebook will take some time to get the ZIP file ready, depending on how many photos and videos you have on Facebook. Once it's done, you will get a notification to download it from Available Files.

Download and unzip the file to see all of your posts and images, with albums as sub-folders.

The Best Facebook Photo Downloader App

3 Images

Multi Downloader for Facebook is one of the best Facebook picture downloader apps out there. It's free, it's super easy to use, and it works for videos, too.

With this app, you can download your own Facebook photos and albums, and your friends' Facebook photo albums, too. You can also search for users or Pages, and download photos and videos from there.

The app menu has quick links for Photos, Videos, Friends, Search, and a quick link to your downloaded images and videos.

Tap Photos for your own pictures, Friends to browse for someone in your friends' list, or Search to browse users and pages on Facebook.

The filter icon next to the search box at the top helps you find a user or a Page. Then browse to the album you want. Here, you can download all photos in the album or select a few to save. The method also works for videos. The major caveat is, the app is only available on Android.

Although Multi Downloader isn't as versatile as our previous favorite (VNHero Studio's Download Videos and Photos: Facebook and Instagram) that's no longer available, it does offer enough to stand among the rest.

How to Save Facebook Videos to Your Computer or Phone

Pictures on Facebook have a simple Download button. But videos don't have any such easy way to download them. FDown.net is one of the easiest web apps you can use to save Facebook videos. The site lets you download private Facebook videos and works on desktop computers and smartphones.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Open the Facebook video and copy its link.
  2. Head to FDown and paste the link. Click or tap the Download button.
  3. Click Download Video in HD Quality or Normal Quality, and start downloading.
  4. In case the video plays in your window instead of downloading, go back to the previous page. Right-click on Download Video in HD Quality, choose Save link as..., and download it to the folder of your choice.

It should work like a charm. The downloaded file will be in MP4 format, which should be fine for most people. The method works on mobile browsers as well. We've tested the website on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on Android and iOS, so pick any of the three.

Once you’re finished making your Facebook cover photo, uploading it is easy.

  1. Navigate to your Facebook business page and mouse over the cover photo space at the top.
  2. Click Add a Cover in the top left corner.
  3. Click Upload Photo/Video and select the photo you’d like to upload.
  4. A preview of your photo will appear in the cover space. Click the photo and drag it up or down to the vertical orientation of your liking.
  5. Click Publish.

If you don’t like how your Facebook cover photo is positioned after you’ve published it, you can click Update Cover and then Reposition, which will return you to step 4.

As you upload more cover photos, you’ll build up a library. If you ever want to replace your current cover photo with an older one, click Select Photo instead of Upload Cover Photo in step 3, and you’ll be able to choose from previously uploaded images.

Right-align objects

Right-aligning the elements or objects of your cover photo draws the viewer’s eye across your screen in a left-to-right direction. This directs your viewer towards your page’s call-to-action (CTA).

Left- or center-align text

People typically read from left to right. If you have any text on your Facebook cover photo, we recommend keeping it to the top left or center. Much like right-aligning your photo’s object, this draws the eye from left to right, ending on your CTA.

In the adidas example below, the text is center-aligned with a right-aligned focus of bright green. This naturally leads your eye down to the Shop on Website CTA.

For some brands, the Facebook page even becomes the main platform: here they talk about themselves, immediately communicate with the client, announce events and sell goods. If most often the first meeting of a consumer with a brand on Facebook takes place in the feed - through an advertisement or a post shared by friends - then a detailed acquaintance begins with the profile page. In order for the dynamic cover video to load and display properly, the recommended cover video size is by 820 x 312 pixels . This is the minimum allowed size. But it's still better to use a video size of 820 x 462 or 851 x 315 pixels . If the dimensions and proportions are larger than recommended, don't worry - during the addition, you can select the desired part of the video to display, and the excess will be "hidden". Facebook cover video format is not limited to pixels – length and weight are also important. Roller must be from 20 to 90 seconds - files longer or shorter than Facebook will simply not be allowed on the cover. In addition, the video must be of high quality - 1080p . What should be the content for the cover video

Having dealt with the technical part of the process, we move on to the creative one. With this, everything is much more interesting - there are no rigid frameworks and limits. You can create an extremely ascetic cover or organize an explosion of colors and emotions - everything is appropriate. Most importantly, start from the style of your brand and the tasks that the cover should solve. With the help of a motion cover, you can, for example:

  • concisely convey the brand philosophy
  • announce an event or promotion

Video covers grab attention by default - even today this is unusual because many brands (including the biggest ones) still use static. In order to use the attention of subscribers to the maximum benefit, when creating a cover, rely on the following basic principles:

  • A clear message. The message that you pack in the cover visual must be one and be read immediately. If you are announcing a new advertising campaign, it is hardly appropriate to talk about the team at the same time or share the joy of a new industry award.
  • Energy. A cover video should be energizing, engaging and engaging. If you make it neutral, no one will understand why you decided to choose a video format if you didn’t use its capabilities - you could get by with static. Be bold and don't be afraid to take a step (however small) beyond.
  • Integrity. The cover should resonate with the rest of the content on the page—be in the same style, evoke the same emotions, and share the same values. A high-quality and creative, but completely disconnected from the main story video will confuse subscribers.

How to add a Facebook cover video

To put a video on the cover, you can either select the desired file from those already uploaded or add a new one. These options open when you click on the "Change cover" button in the upper right corner of the cover. If you don't have the budget or time to create a clip, use Facebook cover video templates. Step 1. Select a template

Select a template with a design of your choice from the gallery on the left.
